Expected better

Review for a World Cruise Cruise on Silver Muse

Silversea positions and prices itself at the top end of the market. We expected it to be good all of the time rather than most of the time. Our cabin butler was outstanding which was certainly a big plus. Restaurants usually but not always good and a couple of times particularly slow for no obvious reason. Sometimes thought the staff would have like to have been elsewhere! One expensive ...

Shore Excursions lacking

This was an college alumni organized cruise and I had a group of friends that went with me on a cruise of the Mediterranean (Spain, France and Italy). The ship service and food was very good. Our cabin was kept spotless. The crew was extremely well-trained and helpful. However, I was very disappointed in the shore excursions. They were very touristy, and lacking in depth. I have cruised with ...

We have cruised twice previously with Silversea on their expedition cruises (Galapagos and Bering Strait) and when a couple we met last year on the Bering Strait cruise asked us to join them on this one we did so without hesitation. What we were expecting and what we got were two entirely different things. First of all on the two previous Silversea expeditions you would pick your next ...

Avoid legs of RTW cruises

Review for a World Cruise Cruise on Insignia

We have sailed with Oceania on 4 previous occasions and always enjoyed it - good company, great food, excellent service - cabins are definitely small but we don't spend much time in our cabins. BUT - this cruise was not up to our expectations, even though we did enjoy it... We believe the reason is the large number of RTW ers -they lacked the happiness and excitement, often shown by people on ...

Check in line was long and hot, Had to retrieve our own luggage from hallway, 20 doors down, Duct taped hair dryer and tiny showers...must share 1 wifi per room unless want to purchase another, large emphasis on 180 day cruise and booking again, no compensation for 2 cancelled ports due to weather...(even $50 onboard credit would have been nice)..educational presentations were limited to geology ...

Review for a World Cruise Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

Part of a holiday which visited Golden Triangle in India before joining QM2 back to Southampton. First time on this ship. Last Cunard cruise was QE2 just before it went out of service. The cabin was well laid out but I did not want a sheltered balcony which is like a metal box cut in the hull with no view if you are sitting down. I was disappointed in the food in the restaurant but found the ...

35 Nights from Singapore to Southampton

Review for a World Cruise Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

We have sailed many lines and Cunard definately has a different feel to the American lines despite US$s used onboard and US owned. There was not the constanr push to buy packages and alcohol was even allowed to be brought onboard but only for cabin use. The so called formal nights started at 10pm. We had a 6pm dinner so a long wait for the formal. We didn't bother with them. The formal dining room ...

We chose the cruise because of the itinerary. Unfortunately, a number of people became ill early on and we were on red alert for 9 days! Not the fault of the cruise line, who handled the problem extremely well, but it didn't help with the overall enjoyment of the cruise. The staff were super and friendly. The food in Red ginger was super flavourful and our favourite. However, twice I was ...

Review for a World Cruise Cruise on Arcadia

I was only on the Arcadia for a 3 day trip Syd to Bris. Solo traveller paid $1000 for 3 nights in deluxe balcony cabin. Cabin was nice, although I really had to twist the Steward's arm to get a white robe. Food in Belverede (Buffet) was like Boarding School - small display and not very appertising Food in Main Dining Room was either great or average. Staff everywhere onboard I ...

This is an honest, tell it how it is review. Being wholly objective, it may also carry a little excess baggage as I, a 63 year old, grappling with the transition from being a 2-4 week holidaymaker to a world traveller! Passengers who joined the ship for a three week leg, might view the ship’s offerings and routines as fresh and new. Such customers might reasonably be considered as ...
