After reviewing other cruise itineraries, we wanted to make sure we had an intimate experience for our first voyage to Antarctica. Swan Hellenic seemed to have all of our bases covered. Aboard the SH Vega, a new ship, we experienced up to date facilities, restaurants and lounge areas. Our intimate requirement was met by the limited capacity of passengers, fewer than 150, and that it was an ...
We chose Oceania because of friends recommendations. We have been on over a dozen other cruise ships and this was by far the most disappointing experience.
For a concierge level room compared to similar class on other ships, this was well below average. The concierge lounge was sparse and the appetizers snacks were the same every day.
The worst experiences were found in the shore ...
Party:
2 adults from England, aged 29 and 63, previously cruised with Marella on the Dream, with NCL 4 times, and 3 other cruises in the early 00s on now defunct lines. We don't have any disabilities and we didn't use the casino, so we can't comment on these aspects, and this was an adults only ship.
Summary:
- Faultless service from absolutely everybody
- Food surprisingly good ...
We did a 119 night World Cruise, don't know why the menu here in CC says its only 50 nights. MSC delivers a lot of bang for your buck, though not everything was perfect. But the itinerary and the dining were awesome, although strangely the famous Kaito-sushi restaurant was closed during the whole trip. The staff was excellent, I wish shore hotels would have staff as nice and attentive. The ...
Dining rooms had repetitive menus for five months, the two specialty restaurants Prime 7 & Chartreuse never changed the menus. All dining rooms were chronically understaffed which meant long waits for food to be taken and then dishes cleared. Newly hired staff had little to no idea of what exactly they were responsible for - we repeatedly waved down staff for a refill of water and wine with our ...
We chose this cruise because we wanted to sail the Polaris as well as spend time on Antarctica, instead of having what we call the "sail by" with a "there it is" commentary to go with it. In addition to being a cruise ship and an ice breaker (!), the Polaris is a research ship and the work of its world renowned scientists is amazing and will indeed make a big difference world-wide. We wanted a ...
Going up the Amazon was a bit different than the usual Caribbean jaunts. Also the prospect of seeing Devil's Island was intriguing. Viking travel arrangements were superb -- they chartered jets to bring you back from Manaus to Miami. Three cheers for Viking. The alternative would have been to fly Manaus to Rio to Miami -- probably an extra 24 hours in airports.
The disappointment was that ...
Cruise review, Seaborne Quest, January 2023
My wife and I took this cruise from Miami, through the Panama Canal, down past Peru, and to Chile.
Overall, the ship was excellent with no complaints about the food, the drink, the service, the facilities, our stateroom. In many ways it reminded me of the “old” Seabourn before COVID-19 and even further in the past.
My wife and I particularly ...
We booked the grand voyage for 70 days around Central and South America. Our 1st cruise with this company and likely our last. For 1/2 the money I wouldn’t bother writing this but for what they charge I feel compelled. The marketing and hype doesn’t match what was delivered.
The food isn’t very good on the whole. It’s monotonous, poorly conceived and executed. I could write a book about what ...
My husband and I selected this cruise for the opportunity to enjoy warm Caribbean waters while exploring a bit of the Amazon. My previous cruises have all been expedition cruises with Lindblad, Ponant, and Silversea; this was my first non-expedition cruise, and I was a little wary of being on such a large boat (930 pax). However, we had a terrific, though not perfect, time and I would definitely ...
