We chose this cruise as we are new to cruising, and it seemed a minefield when choosing one to book (still does!) we knew we wanted to go to Norway and we knew we didn’t want a fly-cruise.
We came across Iona and fell in love with the look of the ship, more modern than we had seen on other ships doing similar routes and loved the idea of the whirlpools on deck 8.
The ship itself is beautiful ...
I booked this cruise because it was a “no fly” cruise from Amsterdam and the Norway landscape was on my “must see” list.
Furthermore Holland America had a lot of promotions because of their “150 years of Sailing” celebration with the “Have it all” package. This included basic WiFi, beverages, including alcohol, specialty dining, a shore excursion budget of 100 dollar per person and 25 dollar ...
We wanted a change from the Med, so Norway seemed like a pretty different cruise with something genuinely new to see. The fjords did not disappoint, everywhere you turn there is another stunning view. As for the ship, it's mostly well laid out with a beautiful piazza and it feels premium thoughout. The Take Five lounge is a bit of a waste, as Jazz isn't nearly as popular as someone seems to think ...
This is our second Celebrity cruise, our previous being the Greek Isles on the Constellation four years ago, which inspired us to go again. Unfortunately it was a big let down from day one. It was billed as a “Norwegian Fjords” cruise but in reality there was only one Fjord experience into Olden with the other three stops relatively low lying shorelines into the ports (Bergen, Stavanger and ...
This was our first ever cruise with princess cruises after being loyal to p & o
it was also our first time to Norway
embarkation was effortless and on ship in 30 minutes this was only because of waiting for security to start doing their checks.
on boarding the ship it was WOW SHE IS A BEAUTIFUL SHIP.
The staff were so friendly and felt at home straight away.
our cabin was a very ...
Sounded like an interesting itinerary. However, every port was pretty much like the last. Due to a booking glitch, we were unable to pre-booked most of the excursions, which were listed as "sold out" when we tried to book on-board. That was actually a good thing....as we were able to do all of the excursions when we arrived at the ports for a considerable difference in price. I have always ...
PO Cruise on Iona - Norwegian fjords, August 2023
This was our first post-covid cruise. My wife and I have cruised several times before and on this occasion we booked a balcony cabin for ourselves and one for our 19yo niece as a treat. We had watched several reviews of Iona on youtube and learnt a few useful tips, such as don't take a balcony cabin on the dreaded deck 8 (or 9 for that matter). ...
Chose this wonderful Norwegian Fjords cruise to enjoy with my mum and husband. Turned into a disastrous experience with husband suffering from food poisoning and being cabin bound for 5 days of his holiday. The response on board from restaurant manager was diabolical, no accountability being taken for making a passenger ill and denied this could even be possible. The cabin staff worked very hard ...
This was our first cruise on Princess, although we have cruised many times on NCL and RCCL. The itinerary and price is what attracted us to this particular cruise of the Norwegian fjords. Overall, we were not disappointed.
We took care of our flights, hotel and transportation ourselves. We flew into LHR and took the excellent BlackBerry Car service (a private car with driver). We stayed at the ...
About us: We are a married couple in our late 50's early 60's. We have experienced over 20+ ocean cruises, and this was our first post Covid. Our experiences have been with Princess, Celebrity, RCCL, NCL and Carnival. We travel for the destinations and the ease of which cruising allows. I will cover the pre cruise travel, ship, ports, excursions and food.
Pre Cruise: We booked our own ...
