We chose this cruise because it is very convenient as we live in the Portland area. We went on river cruises in Europe and liked them a lot. This experience was different. We liked the staff and how well the excursions were organized, but except evening performances there were only enrichment lectures on board. No evening parties, no contests, no events on the sun deck. There was a lot of food and ...
Always wanted to do this cruise. Waited over two years hoping Viking would iron out the kinks while they held our money.several changes to itinerary ( bused to Baton Rouge rather than sailing from New Orleans and at the end of the cruise bused from Red Wing to St. Paul). We were ok as Viking picked up the hotel on both ends.
The room ( Deluxe Veranda ) was clean and new with a few problems ...
Thank you, Treasure Hunter, for taking the time to share your experience with us. Nevertheless, we are sorry to learn the voyage fell short of your expectations. Should you wish to continue...
This was our first experience sailing with Oceania. Overall, it was very enjoyable with a few minor problems I’ll outline later.
Here are the positive points.
Check in was a breeze. We arrived about 2:30pm and were immediately accompanied to the empty immigration and security areas. A few minutes later we boarded and checked in the quiet Insignia Lounge (again zero people waiting) and were ...
Oceania Insignia Review
June, 2023
Cabin Class – B1 – Deck 6
We were on a 24-night cruise from Tokyo to San Francisco via the northern Japanese Islands, the Aleutian Islands, the Inside Passage and the Oregon and Washington coasts.
SHIP OVERALL
Overall, the ship is in very good condition. However, she was built in 1998 (as the “R One” for Renaissance Cruise Lines), as such it is ...
We chose Oceania based on their culinary record, service and small size. We have previously cruised on Viking and love their modern ships. R class ships have been beautifully refurbished. We had sailed on Azamara Quest - a similar ship from Renaissance cruises. We joined the last segment of ATW cruise which began in San Francisco on January 2023! While a majority of the ship had been together ...
Wanted to experience the lower Mississippi River, and this cruise was an excellent way to do that. Small number of passangers made the cruise a delight, while never feeling crowded or having to wait in any line for any service. This was our third trip on an American Cruise Line ship, and the service and personnel are over the top excellent. Could not hope for a better vacation.
Food was ...
American Queen Voyages are always fun and these 74 and 73 year olds traveled from Memphis to New Orleans. We traveled on the Countess on two occasions last year and that ship is nice. The American Queen, however, is a step above. The ship is larger and has more to enjoy than the smaller AQ vessels. We always choose the inside cabin on AQV because it is far less expensive and close to the Front ...
Response from BriannaH, Guest Relations @American Queen Voyages
Thank you for leaving a review! We are glad to hear that you had a great experience sailing with us, and hope to welcome you back aboard soon. We apologize for the missed port of call. When...
We wanted a cruise with a Lewis and Clark theme and we got it. We went from Portland to Astoria, and then up the Columbia and then the Snake. Ended at Clarkson, WA.
Two things made this cruise: 1) the historian on board, Robert Heathcock, was excellent. He gave four main lectures on L&C, and numerous mini lectures on the locks, ports, and geology. 2) the scenery was breathtaking: forests, ...
We have enjoyed three uniworld European river cruises and have cruised with Viking Ocean on the Mediterranean. We chose this trip during Covid as we didn’t need to leave the country and had little exposure to the Delta. We expected similar quality based on our past experiences and the Mississippi price pint but we were disappointed.
First the positives
1) our room was fine, nicely ...
By way of background, my wife and I, mid- 70s, have done quite a bit of ocean cruising on many lines, in recent years mainly on Regent and (the old) Crystal. We have done 3 precious river cruises on Tauck and Uniworld. We found this cruise to be highly enjoyable in most aspects, with one glaring exception.
Let’s get the bad news out of the way first.
Service- 1 star
The service on this ...
