We have toured South Africa before ...Cape Town and Garden route route by road. We wanted to try a cruise for the first time as it included two stops in Namibia with Silver Spirit. At least is what was planned. After our booking Luderitz was cancelled in Namibia and came off the schedule due to so called operational challenges! And hooray was the message therefore an extra day in Cape Town! Having ...
We booked this back-to-back (31 day) cruise over a year ago. The itinerary took us to ports we’d never been before - Madagascar, Mauritius, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Dubai - and we’d had such a wonderful experience on the Moon a year ago that we were looking forward to a repeat, which of course did not happen. This was our 63rd cruise, but only our 3rd - and most likely our last - on Silversea. Our ...
9 of us took this cruise from Dubai. The food was terrible with all the inclusive options by buffet. A number of bars were closed including the main pool bar meaning you had to walk down a level and half the length of the ship to get a drink. No waiters around the pools. Buffets completely overcrowded. Rooms were okay and the entertainment was good.
It was a five star ship ran like a 2 star ...
After reading all of the awful reviews I had started dreading this cruise. However, I ended up really enjoying it.
Embarkation was really smooth and quick. We had a cabin with a living room and separate bedroom and a long balcony with a hot tub on it, which we have never had before and which were really nice. The only problem with the living room was the bed settee which seemed to be really ...
We were on cruise with Friends (8 People), the seating was not as we expected.
The costa application did not run for all.
Telephone line was not operating.
We had one blocked toilet, after steerage cleaning the toilet was dirty…
Was changed first departure from Dubai, officially we shall sail at 23.59, but in application they changed timing to 22.59 so we will waiting on back deck to ...
This was our second cruise and we were apprehensive due to some of the previous reviews we had seen.
Embarkation was very easy, plenty of staff directing us to where we needed to be and allowed us entry onto the ship earlier than our stated time which was helpful.
Marketplace buffet was very chaotic and perhaps time slots may ease this but choice of food was very good. The allocated ...
We chose this cruise because our Virtuoso Agent suggested it might be elevated from our previous river cruises on another cruise line. She was CORRECT!
I want to mention two things. I am a cruise professional with 25 years onboard the top luxury ocean lines, so I have been on hundreds of cruises and tours.
On our cruise, the tour/ship was less than half- full, perhaps due to the conflicts in ...

In this review of our Nile river cruise I provided some travel tips and a day by itinerary review.
Travel tips
Choose a cruise line that will take care of you from arrival to departure. Cairo is a difficult city to visit on your own. This is not a walking city. You will need to negotiate taxi fares everywhere you go. The airports are also much different than other countries and can be ...
I believe MSC Virtuosa is their largest ship and it was heaving. There was noise everywhere especially in the "marketplace". We decided to get up early so we could have breakfast in the restaurant. The last sitting was at 8.30 which in our view was early. The waiters took your order but everything arrived at the same time be it fruit/yoghurt or omelette or pancakes. The juices and coffee were ...
The Viking Osiris is a great Nile River ship, intimate, new, and designed for this service. Take advantage of all optional trips, especially the hot air balloon at dawn over the Valley of the Kings and the trip to Abu Simbel. The days are long, with little down time, but you cover a lot of history. The boat is relatively informal, no need to dress for dinner, etc., as you may be just coming ...
