There was 5 of us. Two adults, two kids, and grandma. Everyone had a fantastic time. We purchased Faster to the Fun (FTTF). Worth every penny, especially for the tendering priority at Cabo. We were in the first group on embark, had immediate access to our cabins, dropped our luggage, and were on the Lido by 11:30. From then on our was one pleasant surprise after another. We found the food to be very good, and the choices plentiful. We ate breakfast or sea day brunch and dinner in the MDR every day. Our waitstaff was outstanding. Quickly learned or preferences and had a second shrimp cocktail on standby for the 14 yo. Our steward did a great job. Room and bath were always clean, beds made. He knew we went through lots of towels and we never ran out. Best thing is that 98% of the staff seemed genuinely happy and interested in making sure you're were having a great time. DW and I did the Chef's Table. I don't want to tell how good it was... But, it was an amazing experience. One of the most memorable meals of our life. Anthony, the Splendor's Soux Chef spent 2.5 hours with our small group of 15. Described every component of every course (11 in all). Educated us about the techniques and chemistry of the food preparation. He made it a truly amazing evening! Entertainment on the ship began and ended with Lee our indefatigable cruise director. There was so much to do! You've got to let go of you FOMO on this cruise. Great music throughout the ship. We enjoyed the various trivia contests, loved the comedy shows (both the family friendly... But especially the adult ones later in the evening... OMGosh!) One of the highlights for me was spending alone time with my 14 yo watching the "dive-in" movies. It was such great bonding time. There were a number of times (other than at meals) that I actually saw him NOT starting at his phone. Dad for the win!! Ok... That's it for this little novel. We all had a great time. Jo Bob says check it out! Read Less

This was our second trip this year on the Carnival Splendor and we were very happy with the number and quality of live music venues and performances, the food in both the restaurants and the buffet, and the service throughout. For live music they played a lot of classic rock as well as quite a bit from the 1980's and 1990's. We are not big fans of Latin Jazz, but if you are into that, they did feature quite a bit of that too. Unlike our Hawaii trip in January, the internet worked quite well throughout his entire cruise. It wasn't perfect but it worked as well as most of my other cruises. We'll be taking one more trip on the Carnival this year in October, the Transpacific from Long Beach to Singapore. We are looking forward to our return to this ship and spending 24 days on it. If we didn't love it so much we would not be willing to spend 24 days on, especially with very few port stops on that cruise. Read Less

My husband and I wanted to go on a cruise to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We choose this cruise because it was closest to where we live and the date worked perfectly for us with our kids getting out of school for the summer. We completely loved the cruise! We got an inside room because I heard that you can feel the motion of the ship more in outside rooms. I was prepared for our room to be tiny, but it wasn't as small as I expected, which was great. With the closets and the desk drawers we had plenty of room this our things. Embarkation and debarkation were quick and easy. The food was great, especially in the dining room. The service in the dining room was excellent, and we loved the little shows that the waiters did at dinner. Our cabin stewardess was really nice and helpful, she fulfilled all of our requests and kept our cabin really clean. The selection of excursions was great. We went snorkeling at Catalina island and we went on a tour to La Bufadora while we were in Ensenada. We had a great time in both Ports. The day at Sea was fun, too, there were plenty of shows and games going on to keep us entertained. Benjamin, our cruise director, was really awesome and kept the fun going. The sea day brunch in the dining room was so amazing! Going on this cruise has wet my appetite for them! I would happily choose this particular cruise again. Read Less

I actually got married aboard the Carnival Splendor on embarkation day 05/25. The ship is unique in its decor, but even more so in its staff. Our cruise ended up leaving late due to engine troubles, but it was a fun and exciting cruise! My grandmother is in a wheel chair and has a hard time moving around, but everywhere we went their was someone there to help her! The Carnival Splendor staff seem to be a tight knit family and a truly fun to be around. Did I have to wait in lines to get my food, grab a drink, or ride the elevator? Yes, but the staff were always friendly and accommodating, so I’m not sure why people complain so much. Food was amazing and above our expectations. Entire ship was spotless! Someone even dropped something and shattered a tile and it was being replaced within the hour. Our room steward was always timely and so sweet. I think our party of 22 had an awesome experience that we will never forget and I look forward to cruising on the Splendor again in the future. Read Less

We took our family of 9 (2 grandparents, with daughters and 1 son in law, 4 grandkids age 9-16)....we had a fabulous time! Lots of entertainment for kids and adults! We felt our grandkids were safe running around the ship playing Clue and Hasbro games not to mention the arcade! 9 year old granddaughter had that ship figured out in one day! The cabins were kept clean on a daily basis as is the entire ship! All staff were very friendly and never failed to greet us with a good morning and a big smile! Highest marks go to June, Edwin and Marshal in the Black Pearl dining room! Excellent service and a very good personality for this job! Day in and out, June greeted us all with warmth, a smile and a great sense of humour! Great dancer too! My husband and I have been on many cruises some higher end than Carnival but the food and service on this cruise was far above any Celebrity etc cruise we have had! Shore excursion in Puerto Vallarta to Los Clentias (sp) hideaway was excellent and well worth the money! Very organized as was embarkation and disembarkation!! We were very, very pleased! Highly recommend this cruise line to anybody! It was a blast! We will be back! PS....thank you , thank you June for your excellent service...made our holiday! (mom Maureen) Read Less

This cruise was provided by Harrah's casino. This is my 1st time to board the Royal Princess. I did my pre-boarding process on line. On the day of my departure, i still have to stay in long lines. I observed some passengers were attended first who are not on the line. The ushers/usherettes did not provide any explanation why other passengers were provided special treatment as i see that they are not handicapped or need special assistance. Upon boarding, i went to my cabin and was surprised to see a very spacious room. My sister and i stayed in room A 516 on deck 12. Our room is so clean and have lots of space for my personal items. The bed is comfortable and have a high definition TV. Jovito, our cabin crew, greeted us with a big smile and asked if we need anything. He fixed our bed 2x a day and always leave chocolates for us to enjoy before bedtime. He always make sure that we have everything we need before he retire at night. Our dining experience is also excellent. Ian Virgenes is an amazing guy. He always make sure that we are happy and satisfied with the food and his service. He is an asset to your company. We always look forward to see him during breakfast on deck 16 and dinner at Concerto dining Room. I also want to acknowledge Karen, Freddie and so many others who made our dine in experience on deck 16 a memorable one. The food is excellent! Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate 50 years of friendship of our husbands, dating back to their Navy days in Italy. We chose this week because we figured it was not a "Spring Break" week, and the few children on board were well-behaved. The Royal Princess met all of our expectations. It has attractive and elegant public areas. It took a day or two to figure out how to get around the ship because of the central piazza area - there are some decks where you have to go up or down in order to get from the forward to the aft part of the ship. There were about 3500 passengers on the ship, but most of the time it didn't feel crowded. From the moment we arrived at LAX to the moment we left, we were greeted and taken care of by Princess employees. Our transfers to and from the ship and the embarkation/disembarkation process were very smooth and efficient with plenty of friendly personnel to direct passengers. Our cabin, aft-facing E-733, was smallish, but perfectly adequate, and was well-maintained by Emmanuel, our cabin steward. There was plenty of room for clothing and toiletries. If hair care is important to you, bring your own products, since there is only "shampoo-conditioner" provided. We had some trouble with the toilet not flushing occasionally, and there was some minor soot on the balcony. However, the cabin was nice and quiet, and we enjoyed the aft view. There were lots of loungers all over the ship, so it was never a problem to find a place to relax. We chose Anytime Dining and enjoyed our meals in both of the MDRs and the Crown Grill and Alfredo's. We never had to wait for a table in the MDRs. The buffet was extensive - massive, really - with many choices. We were pleased to see so many staff members keeping the buffet clean and refreshed, and there were many servers in the buffet dining area clearing tables and serving beverages. As far as entertainment goes, Matt O is an enthusiastic and energetic CD, and his staff members were all very fun and friendly. We played a lot of trivia games and they had a nice variety of topics. As often happens, there were either many enjoyable activities that happened at the same time, or occasionally there were no events that appealed to us. However, that was a good reason to do some reading or lounge by the pool or walk a few laps on the track. The production shows were good, if not outstanding. We particularly enjoyed the presentation by Paul Burrell, Princess Diana's assistant. Service from every employee (stewards, bartenders, wait staff, cleaning staff, front desk) was polite and friendly. We took shore excursions in each port, and I expect I'll be able to report on those below. In brief, we really enjoyed our half-day sailing experience in Cabo, but thought the Mazatlan City Highlights was just OK, and we couldn't really recommend the Best of Puerto Vallarta tour. The tour guides on both excursions were fine, but the PV tour included a long drive over rough roads, and we got back to the ship more than 2 hours later than we expected. We absolutely would take another Princess Cruise - this was our third cruise with Princess. We really enjoyed it! Read Less

We have taken a Princess Cruise to the Mexican Riviera six times. Have very much enjoyed The Crown Princess and The Ruby Princess but, Wow, The Royal Princess with the Medallion technology is fantastic! Having the Medallion streamlines so much and quickens the lines, waiting periods, and simplifies getting into your cabin, ordering meals and drinks, making purchases, pretty much every activity on board, and that means casino gaming is even easier, if you are so inclined. A noticeable improvement is consideration for those traveling with wheelchairs and walkers. The entire ship is navigable and that includes The Sanctuary. Previous trips have made The Sanctuary inaccessible because there was no elevator that went up there and even worse, no bathroom. Finally, that has all changed with elevator service and a pretty large accessible restroom. My favorite part of this trip was the fantastic Cruise Director and his team. I always think I have the best C.D. but Matt O’ Brien is in a class by himself. Funny, clever, inventive and his enthusiasm was inspirational to jump in and join whatever was going on. His team of Assistant Crew Directors has excellent hosts with many fun games and shows. We will do this trip again! Read Less

This was our third cruise to Mexico and first cruise on a Holland America ship. It met our requirements for a new or recently refurbished ship, left from a nearby port, offered a last minute deal and was destined for ports with beautiful weather. We went out on a limb to experience an interior cabin just to make the shipboard and port fun budget go farther. Here's what we learned ... Port = San Diego knows how to process two ships at once. Despite the spring break crowd the Disney ship leaving at the same time, luggage loading, processing and boarding ran efficiently. Holland America gives you a time window for loading based on your stateroom deck. Adhere to this and it should go well for you! Parking was $11 a day at the Wyndham hotel directly across from the port. Nieuw Amsterdam Ship = We liked the classic interior, beautiful sculptures and artwork that lined the ship walls. The main staircase isn't dramatic like the Princess ships and their main dining room isn't as cheery and bright like Celebrity Dining Rooms but it does have a small ship feel with large sea viewing windows and offers cozy alcoves like the Billboard Onboard with dueling pianos and the Crows Nest for reading/watching the sea and drinking a good cappuccino. When you stay in an inside room, you are quite interested in alternative places to hang on sea days. We frequented the well equipped gym and Tamarind Bar for views, without music, and comfy chairs for lounging and reading. I would not pick this ship for the pool experience because the pool is small and the deck is somewhat crowded with people and privately rented cabanas around the perimeter. If you choose to sunbathe, visit the Seaview deck on the back of the ship with a small pool. Bring your towel clips because it can be a bit windy. The pool dome is closed at night or cool weather, so the pool area stays busy during the day and night. You don’t see a lot of kids onboard but you do see them during afternoon pool hours. With all the mega ships now offering adventurous amenities for families or partiers, HAL is wise to cater to the interests of grandparents and people over 60 first. I wouldn’t hesitate to book a family reunion on the Nieuw Amsterdam but I think it’s real attraction is that it is not a "TEEN SHIP". It’s sophisticated and classy vibe is perfect for a couple getaway. My favorite feature on the ship was the elevator. Each elevator rug was changed daily to announce the day of the week…brilliant! Entertainment = Holland America has thoughtfully considered it's clientele. They have the BB King Blues Club for mo-town and dance music, the Lincoln Center for classical recitals and the Dueling Pianos in the Billboard for 60, 70's, 80's and singer songwriter favorites. The talent was incredible this cruise! The main stage dance shows by Step One Dance Company were skillfully produced with technical lights and lasers and the comedian- Chris Pendleton and illusionist Leon Etienne - couldn't have been better. Activities = Highlight of this cruise was the America Test Kitchen sessions and the games hosted by cruise directors. EXC cruise talks for this Mexico cruise need improvement. Folklore dances on the sundeck need a stage for more passengers to see. I didn't use the casino but KUDOS to Holland America for offering a SMOKE FREE casino so all passengers can enjoy the Onboard Billboard Entertainment. I was surprised to see that the library limited to games and primarily travel and educational books. Bring your own novel. Food and Service = This aspect is pretty important to cruisers and I was worried how it would par with our previous Celebrity and Princess cruises. I can happily tell you that steak tastes like steak (not liver) and lobster portions are wonderful! We didn't have to go to a specialty restaurant to find food we enjoyed. I was most impressed by the Lido Food court and enjoyed being served. This was far different from milling around Horizon court or encountering a traffic jam at the Celebrity food stations. Passengers may have to wait a bit longer for the crew to dip up your food choices, but it is more sanitary. The Nieuw Amsterdam offers an outstanding salad bar. While ice-cream offerings and desserts don't compare to the Norman Love creations on Princess they were tasty, plentiful and enjoyable. Servers were quick to clean tables, serve drinks and always friendly. Booking last minute, Anytime Dining was our only option. We learned to call up to two days in advance to request a dining time. This cut down on waiting in line like other guests. It was also enjoyable to sit and meet other guests. Bar drinks on cruise ships are expensive. Check the rules and consider bringing your allotment of beverages (including water) on board at each port or enjoying in port. Ports = Mexican ports are not particularly spectacular but with a little personal research and port reviews you can book some great tours. My husband and I have never felt afraid or had any concerns about getting off the ship. The people in Mexico are friendly and tourism is quite important. Keep in mind that local taxi drivers don't always speak English but they know the way to popular tourist areas. I can't comment on HALS ship tours as we typically book our own. I highly recommend the following ... Mazatlan - Enjoy the city with a personal guide on a bike along the water. We saw cliff divers, fishermen feeding huge birds, harbor sculptures, city square and the greatest local food market. We gained knowledge of the city's history and learned to appreciate what the locals love from Daniel at Blue Foot City Bike Tours https://bluefoot.mx Cabo San Lucas - This port requires a tender but there is enough to do in the vicinity if you choose just to shop or refill your prescriptions for half the price. Our preference is to get off the ship and negotiate with locals for a tour. We have taken a whale ride excursion in the past. This time we enjoyed and recommend taking a water taxi (both ways) to Medano Beach. Once there you can enjoy the day at a local resort with a perfect view of the ship and Lovers Beach. Puerto Vallarta - The port is nothing to see except a huge Wal Mart across the street. Instead, opt for a taxi to and from the Malecón. Walk the large boardwalk along the ocean to shop, view beautiful art sculptures, street performers and colorful flowers. There are plenty of great restaurants along the way. Visit the Lady of Guadalupe Church downtown, avoid most city streets and sightsee in touristy areas. Read Less

We were looking for a west coast cruise for the family. This was our first time on Norwegian. The bliss is a beautiful new ship and never seemed really crowded even though it holds 5,000 passengers. The smaller complimentary restaurants (Taste and Savor) were much more warm and inviting than the Manhattan. The food and service was great in all the restaurants and the garden buffet. We didn’t try any of the specialty restaurants although we heard great things about cagneys steak house. We weren’t really impressed with puerto Vallarta. Did an excursion to stone island beach in mazatlan which was actually nice. All the alcohol you could drink. Cabo was our favorite and we will probably go back by plane. Saw jersey boys and it was fabulous. They aren’t kidding when they saw broadway productions. Also tried the go carts which was pretty cool knowing you are on a ship in the middle of the ocean. All in all a great cruise. And we were amazed at the speed they got us on and off the ship. Read Less

It's been 2 years since my last cruise and I was ready. I'm so glad we chose this one. Getting on the ship was pretty easy and fast. I expected it to be hard considering the number of people. We had lunch in the buffet and it was good. We were in our room by 2 PM. The room was small for a mini suite but adequate. There is a lot of storage in the room. The bathroom was great. I loved the full body shower. I was not impressed with the majority of the food. Other than the specialty restaurants, the food was bland. My least favorite was The local. We found the service poor and the food the same. We loved all 3 ports. I wish we would have had more time in Cabo, but I got a beautiful ring, so i cant complain. My advice for Mazaltlan if you want to to just look around and your is to just take the open air taxis to town. $12-$15 one way and you see everything. We paid $45 for the double decker bus and it's not worth it. I would totally recommend this cruise. I have to give props to the Cruise Director, Silas Cook and his entire staff. Silas and Alex are the best in the business. Alex is the life of any party and one of the nicest people I've ever met. By far, Silas is just the most wonderful person ever. I had the chance to just chat with him for a while and I loved just getting to know him. I hope I cross paths with he and his staff again. Was the cruise perfect, nope. Nothing in life is perfect. I will say 1 week felt like 3. I cant wait to go back!!! Read Less

My Experience My experience on the Norwegian Bliss was my first cruise ever, as well as my husband's. We decided to do our honeymoon on the Bliss because we were struck with the Go-Kart on the ship since we both have a love for go-karting. That was so much fun! It was FAST and exciting! I have to say that we want to do the cruise again soon and take the kids. If you appreciate smaller things, you will appreciate a trip to Mexico for 7 days! I don't get all the negative remarks on these reviews, but I am grateful for small things in life! There was over 4000 people on the ship and most of the time, it didn’t feel over-crowded. The only time it was crowded is when a show is let out and the exercise drill. There was a couple of nights that it felt like a ghost-town, most everyone was turned in for the night or hiding somewhere! Haha! About the Ship The ship was beautiful! I have never seen anything so big and beautiful. I couldn't get enough pictures. This trip was a big deal for both of us and we were just so excited to see something that we have never experienced before. We walked all over the ship and tried to see every inch of the ship since it was such a beautiful thing. I am grateful that we had this opportunity to experience an awesome vacation on this big beautiful boat! I am pretty sure we poked around just about every corner except for the Haven area. Our Cabin Room Our room was the Mid-Ship Stateroom with Balcony on the 13th Deck and I wouldn't pick any other room on board. We had originally picked out a room on 5th deck that was in the center and I am glad we decided to upgrade twice to get a room with the balcony. I felt it was plenty of room with just the both of us. I can bet it would be plenty if I had my kids with me. We were confused at how to keep the light on in our cabin and later learned that we had to keep the room key in the slot (learned this from avid fellow cruiser)! Our room was kept cleaned every day and we had a surprise waiting for us every time we came back to our room. Thank you, Larry, for outstanding services with the cabin and we were excited to see each animal towels left just for us! We are also very thankful for the Honeymoon Package waiting for us when we first entered the cabin. That was a very nice touch! When leaving on our final day, we waited until the last minute on the night before the last day to get two new beach towels and to my dismay, we never got them – oh well – we have another souvenir that we are happy with. Dining Experience (Specialty, Buffet included) I have to say that I was really impressed with all the Specialty Dining we had. We got the Dining Package that consist of 3 Specialty Dining and our choices were The Q, Teppanyaki and Los Labos. Of course, we made reservations at The Taste, Manhatten Room and visited The Local few times. For our Honeymoon package, we had our romantic dinner at Le Bistro which was very lovely and completely enjoyed ourselves. I was happy with a bottle of Bubbly which was delicious and a bottle of white wine that we took back to our room later. Breakfast was pretty much at the Garden Café every morning and occasional lunch. I just know we ate so much food and loved every bit of it. I had an issue with couple of things on my plate that I have chosen but overall really good food. I am just thankful there was plenty to go around! We also had the drink package and that was the best thing ever as we drank whatever we wanted throughout the day. Never got drunk or felt any hangover. It was perfect! Entertainment & Activities We saw most of the shows such as the Comedy Night at the Social, The Havana!, The Jersey Boys and not to mention the International Talent Show done by most of the crewmembers! OUTSTANDING! I was happy with all the shows and completely enjoyed myself. It was a very relaxing atmosphere and loved every minute of it. My husband was enjoying himself as well. We both absolutely love the Go-Karts and did that four times. Although I never made it up on the board, I had so much fun! Mini-golf was cute, it was so small though. I believe more creation in the mini-golf would be ideal. We hung out by the pool a couple of days and went to most of the themed party. I am confused as to why there were children at the H2O when it clearly shows “Adults Only – 21 and over?” Same thing with children in the Adult Only pool. I heard complaint about the pool being overcrowded but I didn’t feel like it was. I have seen worse overcrowded pools before. We did not opt to play the Laser Tag, it just wasn’t our thing but man it looked fun. We didn’t have the chance to check out the Hot Tub – it was always full of people or shut down. Shore Excursions Experiences Puerto Vallarta: We chose Tequila Town, Country and Farm Excursion and it was a pleasant tour. The tour guidance, Hugo was excellent. I love his trilling R’s! I enjoyed the tour through the town and the church especially. However, I was a little disappointed in the town itself, it was so run down and dirty. The local folks looked so depressed, sitting outside their shop waiting for business, that I just wanted to jump back onto the happy ship! Once we got to the Tequila Farm, the fun started heating up with 6 samples of tequilas and loved them all! Had a nice little lunch with authentic tacos and then we did a little bit of shopping on our own when we got back to the port and bought some souvenirs! Mazatlán: We chose the Hike the Lighthouse Excursion because we both love to hike and explore the nature. Our reservation was in the high time of the day, so it was a bit warm. Thankfully I had my big brim hat on since I had gotten sunburn days before from chilling out by the pool. Our tour guide was very friendly and did an awesome job with the tour. I made it all the way to the top at the Lighthouse after going up over 340 something steps! It was a struggle, but we did it! Great team support as I had some couples encouraging me along the way because I was nearly giving up. Good hike though! Again, did some quick shopping at the port before loading back up on the big happy boat! We only saw a small part of the downtown area and it was a little more colorful than Puerto Vallarta! Cabo, San Lucas We chose the Snorkeling, Paddle board and Kayak adventure and I will NEVER forget this trip! We got on this awesome boat that was pretty fast and bee-bopped across the water to our final destination. Before we headed that way, we toured around the most beautiful rock formations ever! It was a sight to see! Once we got to our destination, we explored the beautiful sea down under with our snorkeling gear! I am so thankful for the photographer that was with us because he got some awesome pictures of us swimming below – holding hands and pointing at fish! I was so thankful for such a beautiful time! I spent few moments on the kayak and we had to head back. Not enough time for such a great adventure! Then we saw the jumping baby whale having the time of its life! Thank you, Lord, for such a beauty in sight! I am truly thankful for the Cabo Adventure for such a wonderful adventure! They had tons of photos for us to take back home on a flash drive for a small cost! We did some quick shopping as we had to head back to the happy ship at 1:30 pm and it was lined up for miles! No complaint as it was all smooth-sailing! I was sad to be leaving so soon as we wanted to explore more. Like someone else said in the review, we are flying back to explore more! Farewell: On our final day, it was so very hard to leave the boat. I had tears in my eyes as I was saying goodbye to all the staff. They were all outstanding, friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. We were greeted every day, throughout the day! All of our waiters/waitresses did such an amazing job and I can't thank them all enough! We are coming back for sure and pick another destination as traveling has been on our bucket list for a while! To our surprise, we didn’t spend a whole lot as we paid for everything in advanced and that was a nice plan! I tried to add some photos but I am having issues with the download. Read Less

The timing was perfect. We had already been to the Caribbean and wanted somewhere different. They work like a well oiled machine. All ship personnel were knowledgeable about the ship. The embarking and disembarking went smoothly, even the tenders were easy. There were a good balance of sea days and port days. Just a LOT of people on that ship, hard to get an elevator. The food is amazing, and the specialty restaurants are awesome. There was not much room at the pool, unfortunately there is only one adult only pool. The one thing I found to be unfortunate is the standard for dress in the dining rooms. No one seems to want to get dressed up anymore. This in my opinion, lowers the standard of the people on board. I used to look forward to dress up nights. Even at the Theatre shows, shorts and t-shirts. Before we cruised I read every review I could find, and to be honest, I was concerned about the negative comments concerning the crew, the service, the food, etc. DON'T BELIEVE THEM!! We had an AMZING experience and highly recommend this ship and itinerary! EMBARKATION: Easy. Arrived around 10:30. No line at check in. We checked in, got our cards, and were on the ship around noon. STATEROOM: We had a balcony stateroom on Deck 10. Getting in to the closet was hard with the beds separated, but there was more than ample storage space. Bathroom had tons of storage too, and the shower was really big! Our stateroom steward John was wonderful! He gave us a towel animal every single day, to the delight of my 13-year-old daughter! Every request was fulfilled, from reconfiguring the beds (room was originally configured for a couple and I was travelling with my two teen daughters) to extra ice for my ice packs at night (I was 11 weeks from double knee replacements on this cruise and still icing at night). He even left us a note on the last night, thanking us for sailing with them and hoping to see us again. But it wasn't just OUR steward. We were in room 10898 towards the back of the ship, and often used the elevators or stairs at the front of the ship and walked the entire 10th floor back to our room. We passed MANY room stewards, and were ALWAYS greeted with a smile! Seriously, nearly every single crew member we encountered gave us a smile and a friendly greeting! ELEVATORS: I don't understand what all the complaints are about with the elevators?!? The only time they were busy was when a show let out (DUH!!), and we just walked to the other bank of elevators or took the stairs. FOOD: We ate in the Garden Café, Taste, Savor, Los Lobos, Q Smokehouse and Cagney's. The food in every venue was DELICIOUS! My kids loved the variety of the Garden Café. There were plenty of stations and we never waited in long lines. Yes, it got busy sometimes. It's a BUFFET! But the staff were very helpful directing the flow of traffic, always with a smile. We filled our water bottles on port days at the water station in the buffet. It was never a problem. You just have to use a glass and not fill the bottle directly, which is completely understandable. We ate breakfast and dinner a few times at Taste and Savor. Our meals were hot, delicious and timely. We never had a long wait, and the servers were friendly and accommodating. My daughter ordered the Alfredo without mushrooms. Not a problem. We asked tons of questions about the menus. Our servers answered patiently. We treated them with respect, engaged them in conversation, SMILED at them. These people work HARD to make sure we have a good vacation. We appreciated them, and in return we received fabulous service! SPECIALTY DINING: Again, the service was AMAZING!! At Los Lobos, we barely made it through the appetizers! We each took one bite of our entrees, and skipped desert. Q was pretty much the same, so we didn't order as many apps in Cagney's so we could enjoy our entrees! We got the specialty dining as a perk, but it was only for the first 2 people in the cabin. Each time we checked in, the hostess would say "third person is a la carte," and I was fully prepared to pay for that third meal. However, in ALL THREE SPECIALTY RESTAURANTS, the server did NOT charge me for the third meal, or the extra appetizers!! Our last night we ate in Cagney's, and our sweet server said "I'm gonna take good care of you! I'm going to make sure your last night of vacation is the best night. I'm not charging you for her meal." Hard to describe how that made us feel. Special to be sure. She even hugged me after the meal. As did our server in Los Lobos. And the young lady that made our table side guacamole was such a delight to talk to! I do NOT understand the negative reviews I read about the crew. I think it's more a reflection on the reviewer, and NOT the crew members... ENTERTAINMENT: We did EVERYTHING we possibly could, and still did not do all we wanted. Upon embarking, we went down a floor and used the screens near the elevator/stairs to book comedy shows, laser tag and go karts. Plenty of availability. I've never done laser tag, and I've never laughed so hard as when I did laser tag on the Bliss! Really fun! But skip the long lines at the Social and book them yourselves on the screens. We did family karaoke, saw Jersey Boys and Havana!, and hung out by the pool a LOT. Tip: plenty of loungers on Deck 17 above the pool deck. Not as loud up there and more sun than on the pool deck. We got 3 loungers together every single sea day. Plenty of waiters on the pool deck, and the Waves bar was never really busy. We used the fitness center in the mornings (we're early risers) and then sat reading in the hot tubs until the day warmed up. SHORE EXCURSIONS: We did Los Veranos Canopy Tours in Puerto Vallarta. The speed boat to the jungle was a BLAST!!! The zip-lining was AMAZING (14 lines!), and there's a restaurant over a river to swim in with a slide built into the rock and kayaks and all kinds of fun stuff to do. I HIGHLY recommend!! I booked directly with the company. In Mazatlán we rode horses on Stone Island with Maria's Happy Horses. They were AMAZING! Our group included first timers and long time riders, and the were so accommodating! 16 total from our ship, booked directly for $35 each. Again, I HIGHLY recommend!! In Cabo San Lucas, we did the Signature Dolphin Swim booked through NCL. AMAZING! We loved every minute of it, and splurged and bought the pics for around $179 dollars. SUMMARY: We had an amazing experience on the Bliss, and would definitely recommend this ship! Treat the crew with the respect they deserve, and they will give you the vacation of a lifetime! People don't seem to review the shorter cruises out of Long Beach, so I wanted to write one for last week. This was our third Imagination cruise from Long Beach, and it was great! Pre-cruise: Got to Long Beach the day before the cruise, and spent the day at Cabrillo Beach (San Pedro) relaxing in the sun. Stayed at the Golden Sails in Long Beach, which was a fine hotel 20 minutes from port. On Sunday morning, we left the hotel at 10:20, with zero traffic, we were parked in the garage at 10:45. Embarkation: This is the easiest embarkation port of the many we have used. We were completely checked in and waiting to board before 11 am. FttF was called at 11:11 (good luck!!) and we were boarded very quickly. Straight to our stateroom (E90 - right off the atrium) to drop bags, and we were at Guy's Burgers before 11:30. Stateroom: Excellent choice (E 90) for access to everything. No problems with noise, smell or stateroom steward. Received twice-daily cleaning as requested. Room was in excellent shape, with comfy bedding and everything in working order. Dining: Had Anytime dining, which worked great. Ate all breakfasts in the MDR, and avoided the buffet completely. Lunch was Guys, Blue Iguana or Deli. Sea day brunch was awesome as ever---steak and eggs was great. All dinners were good, with many choices, and we ordered double appetizers or entrees more than once. Brought case of Coke Zero and two wine bottles in carryon, so we brought our own glasses to dinner each night. Worked beautifully. Day one: Bags were delivered before 12:30, so we were quickly unpacked, and headed to an empty Serenity deck. Relaxed until muster drill, then off to get dressed for dinner. Yes, we dress for dinner each night. Not over the top, but I wore a dress, and my husband wore button up shirt and slacks each night. Comedians were okay this trip, and we enjoyed family and adult shows most days. Did a little dancing in the nightclub. Funniest thing was "80's hour", which was from 10 to 10:15 pm one night! Dance floor was packed for those fifteen minutes!!! Day two - Catalina: Breakfast in the MDR, then ready to tender to Catalina. Expected a crowd, but easily caught a tender with no wait. Didn't even use FttF tendering. Rented a golf cart for about 90 minutes for a nice tour. Walked around a bit peeking into shops for a little while. After that, we lounged on the beach by the dock for a few hours before returning to the ship for a late lunch. Short but fun day. Day three - Ensenada: This was a weird day. We had breakfast in the MDR again, and got off the ship easily at approximately 10:30. Nice walk into town along the new Malecon. The streets, stores, bars, restaurants were EMPTY. It was amazing how few people we saw in Ensenada. Nothing like our past visits. We walked along the main street looking in a few stores. Had a quick (unsatisfying) lunch at a street restaurant, then hit our favorite Ensenada store that sells stained glass, and headed back to the ship. In the two years since we've been there, prices across the board in Ensenada have skyrocketed. Maybe that's why it was dead. Returned to the ship for Serenity deck and relaxation around 2:30. Day four: Day at sea started with sea day brunch, and consisted mostly of the Serenity deck! We went on this trip to relax, and relax we did! Got front row in Serenity, but it was packed by 10:30 that morning - don't dawdle! Disembarkation: So quick and easy! They started self-assist at 7 am. Started calling zones at 8:45, and did a last call for everyone to disembark by 9:05!!! Short wait for customs, and we were back in the car by 10 am. Overall: An excellent cruise for first-timers looking to try cruising, or for seasoned cruisers looking for a relaxing few days. We don't gamble on ships, and didn't drink too much. The ship was oddly empty for the most part (considering this was Holy Week/Spring Break). Never a wait at a bar, easy to get chairs on Lido and Serenity, no long lines at lunch locations. It was downright weird!!! For the price, it is an excellent value cruising experience, and keeps us satisfied between longer cruises. Next up for us a the Legend Transatlantic 2020! Read Less

I went on the Bliss because we usually cruise Royal or Celebrity and I wanted to check out their newest ship while it was on the west coast. We are Diamond on Royal and Elite on Celebrity. We would like to build loyalty with another cruise line and we like they included a few perks with the booking. This is our 34th cruise and we had a really fun week on the Bliss. The ship is pretty, staff was very friendly and food was good. We were not impressed with Cagneys (average service and food) but we liked Teppanyaki. The Food at Q was good but the place lacked windows or atmosphere. Drinks were great onboard and all the shows (Prohibition, jersey boys, comedy, The band Siglo and show Havana were all top notch. I booked the Norwegian Joy for the Oct repo cruise to experience that ship while it’s also on the west coast Read Less

There were 6 of us on this cruise with two under 6 years old. One of us had platinum status so we boarded immediately after checking in. The food was excellent on board. My medallion steak on the 2nd night was the highlight of eating. Even better than the rib eye at the Crown Grill. We only got off of the ship at Mazatlan for 30 minutes. We stayed on board with the little ones playing in the pool Things that I think Princess got right: Concerts at sea on the big screen. Neat concept. Excellent sound system . MUTS except it was cold. Even the blankets weren't enough. Negatives: This is the first time I felt a ship was crowded. People were everywhere. Shows were packed. Sometimes it felt good just to go to our balcony to get away from the noise. The walking flow in the ship is designed poorly. There are several places in the buffet , pool areas, and deck six shopping areas where you get funneled down to single file each direction. If a waiter has a tray you have to stand aside to let them pass. Or if there are are slow walkers, the traffic backs up. On our last night I ordered a hamburger off the left side of the menu and asked if to be cooked rare. They asked for my room number because I asked for rare. Then it came well done. Too late to ask for it to be cooked properly. Everybody else at the table was eating. Disembarkation was easy as we carried out luggage off. Read Less

I chose this because of the ports, two new Mexican ports on the west side. However, they were disappointing. Cabo required a tender and we didn’t get on the beach until almost 3 PM! Also, to pay for a ship excursion or a private beach club was $100 each, and the public beach was crammed with vendors so not pleasant. Water was freezing. In Mazatlan I had booked the salsa and salsa, which I had planned to do for years. It was $90 a person, fine, my daughter enjoyed it, but there was actually no men to dance with and no free time to dance at the end. We only had an hour to use the lovely resort pool and beach, which was not long enough, and the price included unlimited margaritas but how much tequila can one drink at 10 o’clock in the morning? Puerto Vallarta was great, as always. The ship was very clean, and the staff was very polite, professional, attentive, but almost too formal. I would have like more interaction with the crew, and please provide some male dancers! There were literally hundreds of women wanting to dance at all the lounges and dance events, but only one or two men. Pretty ship, very clean, enough events but not enough dance shows. Also, the evening dining conflicted with several of the shows so we missed some. I’m getting on and off was efficient, baggage handled well, really nothing was crowded and in fact most of the bars and lounges were empty most of the time. The Zumba & dance classes we are very well attended, so hello, have more space and time for those! Read Less

I live in the Los Angeles area and boarding in San Pedro was perfect. The embarkation went very smoothly and the staff was very welcoming. The ship is big but with the Ocean Medallion it was easy to find everything and find other people in your party. The excursions were great, it was very easy to get around and they staff explained everything very well, we had plenty of time in each port to see and experience it, we also had time to go shopping, one of my favorite things to do when I go on trips, need to bring souvenirs for my family and buy a few things for me and my husband. The entertainment onboard was outstanding, Princess theater shows are amazing and the shows at the Piazza are great, one thing they had in this trip that I have never seen before, renewing of wedding vows, my husband and joined other couples and it was very romantic. We had a great time and will definitely travel with Princess again. Thank you for your service. Read Less

We cruised with our 10-year-old daughter on Royal Princess. The top priority for us is a quiet place to stay. Balcony cabin A111 was at the great location with the quiet level that meets our standard. Food: We were pleased with our assigned dining table for 4 every night. The fine dining was delicious. Horizon Court buffet had a generous selection of food every meal. We enjoyed later at night wandering around there just to walk around; and to sit down for a bite if we couldn't resist, even after our dinner! Entertainment: All staffs were very professional. The cruise director Matt O was a whole new level of professional! His passion, talent and enthusiasm made every show memorable. He brought laugh and happiness every where he went. He was the shinning star on Royal Princess! Camp Discovery: The new junior program was just rolled out a few months when we cruise. Some of the staffs were not well-trained to handle multiple requests with all kids around; the skee ball machines either were broke down, or not allow to play due to other reasons. My daughter did enjoy the slime making activity. Read Less

Nice ship. The new Medallion Service is a winner. Each guest has a little medallion that pretty much does everything. You can track members of your party, helps you with directions, unlocks you door as you approach, is used to all purchases of any kind (the ship is cash less), and other things. I purchased my internet ahead of time for a flat rate of $55 and it was by FAR the fast I've had at sea. Download speed was usually 4mbps or better. I think you could stream Netflix or Prime Video but I choose to download movies and TV shows which worked great. Buffet area is the best organized I've seen on my 5 cruises. Anytime and Traditional dinning are good as always on Princess. This ship did not have a Curtis Stone venue which we thought was great. I don't think the ship had any of the Michelin Chef on this ship. We missed this We attended the Entertainment Show every night. It was good not great. The Princess Live Game shows were great fun, and you could watch them On Demand the next day. Wish there were more. Other activities were pretty much cruise ship standard. Read Less

This cruise was exactly what I expected. Perfecto! I can't think of any situation where I was disappointed. The crew was always helpful and friendly. I got to know many of them closely as I frequented many of the same places. They knew me by the second night. Always a smile. The room was great. I had a Mini Suite. (I read a really bad review of the mini suite on the Royal, I swear those passengers HAD to be on another ship!). It was great! I traveled with my 15 year old Daughter and 12 Year old son. They had an amazing time. They got to know a ton of people their age thru the different programs Princess has to offer.I have ZERO complaints. Embarkation was a breeze as was disembarkation. The Internet is as fast as I have ever used on a ship. Never had an issue with streaming anything. Not that I was on there to watch TV, but you can if you want. Food was EXCELLENT. Service was excellent and the whole vibe on the ship was positive. Speaking of the ship.....the Royal Princess is an AMAZING Ship!!!! She is superb in every way. I love there is no lame go-carts or climbing walls or slides. It is just classy...period. I will never go below this If I want all that non-sense I can get it cheaper at home. I saw the Norwegian Bliss in port on Puerto Vallarta and I almost puked. That isn't cruising. That is a Malibu Grand Pris Arcade at a HUGE premium. If that is your thing have fun. No way for me. I'll stick wit Princess who has been doing it better and for MUCH longer than almost everyone. Good luck to you all and may you all be safe on any cruise you choose. PEACE!!! Read Less

THIS IS MY SECOND DISNEY CRUISE. The first one in the carribean to their private island. It was so good that we decide to go on another one. This time is was from San Diego to Cabo and Enesanada. Checking on in San Diego was so smooth. No line up. As soon as I arrived in cabin after lunch in buffet, I phoned the conciege and asked for a robe since I was sharing with my daughter and her boyfriend. The bathrooms are super small and there's no where to put your clean clothes after you take off your dirty clothes to shower. I was told that the robes are only for conciege class. I explained about the situation in the bathroom and when I cruised on Disney before they supplied robes no problem. So I went to the desk to ask again, this time for someone in charge. She left me standing there while she went to the back for 10 mins. I told the other person standing there , that "This is a waste of time, how long does it take to ask about a robe". Also there are no slippers. Good thing I bought it from my hotel. I said I gotta go for dinner, I will come back for an answer. I stopped by the room after dinner and surprise, There's a robe. One of the drawers was stuck and after pulling it out it will become jammed. I told the room steward and he pushed it back in and said: It's fixed. Next time I pulled it out, it got stuck again. I informed the steward again when I was heading out and he said he will fix it. Next time i pulled it open , it completely fell out on my foot. This time I phoned the conciege and they sent a maintenace guy to fix it for real. I'm lucky I didn't break my foot. The day before we arrive in Ensenada, we wanted to go to the place where margaritas were invented. I looked it up at home but we didn't have internet on the ship, and I couldn't remember the name of it but I recall the ship did offer a tour there. She told me she didn't have that info and there's no such tour. She told us to find a Starbucks to get internet and we could google it. After walking a couple of miles to find the Starbucks, we found the place. It was right across from where the ship was docked. We were sitting there enjoying our drinks in the courtyard and wondering why the ship doesn't support this place. And surprise the tour arrived from our ship. Do not take the shuttle from the ship in Ensenada. It's supposed to take you into town but we saw it stopped a couple of blocks down the pier. There is not a town and not much to see except the place where we went to. There was a museum which charge $2.00 and then bar which we got margaritas. There's a small market. We got fridge magnets. There's a beautiful cactus garden. But everything else there is not worth to see cause there's nothing to see. We did eat some corn and some pancake, at the little booths that were on the walkway. Nobody spoke English. Lucky for us, my daughter's boyfriend spoke Spanish. Be aware that the charge to use the washrooms. The food on ship at the buffet at lunch was good and the dining at night was very good. Loved the shows. Got to see the lastest Disney movies in 3D if you want. The live shows are really good. Service in dining room was good. Over all the Disney experience was evident on the cruise but the price was triple other cruises to the same places. I expected better service and larger washrooms. We had a cabin at back of the ship on 7th floor. There was so much creaking and weird banging noises that it was extremely hard to sleep. It was every night. This cruise had a lot of kids on it because of spring break. There was an adult only area but there were kids in this area too. Be careful not to trip over them, they run around through you to try to be first in line to see their characters. Don't take this cruise unless you love Disney a lot. If you want to see Mexico, use Holland America. Read Less
