We drove to Long Beach from San Francisco the day before embarkation and stayed at Hotel Current in Long Beach with a "snooze & cruise" room. Hotel Current had a gorgeous pool area, very artsy/modern rooms, and lobby & served breakfast in the morning, as well as stored our car for the 7-day cruise and shuttled us to the port, all for less than $200.00. Plus we meet fellow cruisers BEFORE the cruise even started! Hotel Current, YES! We had Faster to the Fun so once off the hotel shuttle, our bags were taken by the baggage handlers (tipped $2.00 per bag) and placed in the priority section for baggage. We then walked to the Faster to the Fun line at the port entrance and literally were walking onto the ship in 5 to 7 minutes. That is through document processing and security. GET FTTF! We carried on one bottle of wine and one 12 pack of soda in cans. There was just 2 of us, my 12-year-old daughter and myself. We ordered water for the room through the Carnival website and our 2 excursions prior to the cruise. We walked on board and went straight to our room to drop our bags (another perk of FTTF). Then we went to get lunch. We went up the stairs above the buffet to find the BBQ area nearly empty, got lunch and sat down. We were on the SHIP!! YAY! The service was incredible, although I did expect more from our room steward, I can't complain about his service. He did his job, just nothing more. Jose, Edwin, and Theodor in the Black Pearl MDR took care of us in ways I can't explain. Ever have a server grab your knife and cut your steak??? Well my daughter did! Just exceptional friendliness, dancing at "SHOWTIME", personal care, even sharing about their lives and how they remember our names???(when they change every week is a secret Carnival must teach) My daughter was in Circle C (12 to 14 kids club) and immediately found a group of friends, really nice kids. I met most of them over the week. After dinner every night she left me to enjoy the ship and meet up with her friends. Always checking in via text thru the Carnival HUB App, I knew where she was. Sometimes staying with Circle C to do scavenger hunts and play games or attend shows and have snacks. Other times the kids would meet up at Circle C but then leave independently to go swimming or to the arcade, buffet or even just run around the ship on their own. I was ok with letting her go a bit & enjoy some independence, even though on land/at home this would never be possible. Kind of a beautiful thing when you think about it...that she was able to meet up with friends and have fun. I grew up doing that in the '70s at her age but today we can't let our kids out of our site. I loved that she was able to experiance independence on the ship. We stayed in Cabin 1085 Deck 10. It can't get any better. Location was amazing. The balcony cabin is where it is at. I booked an interior 6th-floor cabin but was offered an upgrade about 2 weeks from sailing and I could not pass up the offer. I will forever be grateful to the upgrade fairy. Our cabin, the spacious cabin with couch, the view, the storage, was hands down more then I could have ever imagined. 5 stars to the cabin. If you can get this cabin--Book it! I loved the open decks and walking down the deck of the ship late at night, against the wind, after dinner, to head back to the cabin. The open decks on the sides of the ship made me really embrace the cruising feel. I think new ships are losing this. Without all the 2.0 upgrades Carnival Splendor has everything you need and retains a ships feel, not too hotely. Ill miss Splendor on the West Coast. She has a certain appeal that is getting lost in the newer ships. Debarkation was again seamless, as we had Faster To The Fun. We were sent our luggage tags and instructions the night before. Set the luggage out about 10pm the night before. Day of, we went to the Black Pearl dining room per our instructions, and sat among the Diamond/Platinum folks until they called us and we walked right off to waiting luggage in side the port. Embarkation & Debarkation literally took minutes, no lines, no fuss, no extra work. FTTF is the way to go! The entertainment was great (singers in the shows blew my mind, especially Mark who carried the entire Piano Man show!), the Fun Staff was good. The Cruise Director, Lee, was good, but did seem tired & somewhat distracted-I heard this from others as well, without prompting. Understandable, what an amazing amount of personal energy it takes to be the cruise director. I'm not mad at Lee, he did an outstanding job & I would be happy to cruise with him again. I am open to experiencing other cruise directors now though. Carnival Splendor was my first cruise and I am so glad she was. Ships REALLY are floating hotels...but all these newer ships & mega ships are so much so, you forget the sea is right outside. The Carnival Splendor ALWAYS has a door or window to why we cruise, THE OCEAN! The Italian design and somewhat over the top decor makes her just that much more beautiful and intiguing. We cruised 7 nights Christmas week 2018 and loved every single minute of the cruise. Read Less

The Star was small but I loved every bit of it. We will cruise Norwegian many more times to come!!! We had the adult beverage package. That is SO worth it!! Yes it was a perk but get it no matter what We loved the spa. We only purchased a day package, we don’t make that mistake again, we will purchase the Spa for the entire cruise My daughters loved the swimming/hot tubs and the freedom to enjoy themselves. As older teenagers we could let them explore, eat, and just hangout on their own schedules. They loved every minute of the cruise. We are going to spend more time cruising for our vacations from here on out!! Norwegian is who we will choose!! Read Less

This is our 4th cruise with NCL and we did the Christmas cruise for the very first time. I dont know why some people have such horrible things to say. I personally 100% disagree with these folks and just feel that maybe its the person who is writing the nasty review. NCL is a VERY good cruise line and the staff are very professional and go above and beyond to make your cruise a very good one The shows were outstanding and the one we like the best was Band on the Run. The Q and A session with the Officers was very good and all questions were answered with a positive view and I found that there was no rudeness involved. A big shoot out to all the staff that work on this ship and making everyone holiday a very good one. The decor around the ship was really nice and the Gingerbread houses and displays were very nice. People must remember the amount of hours that go into making these displays and then guest touching them of course the display will then have wear. Lets all be kind and not be so rude and pick at every little thing. Again, We recommend NCL 100% Read Less

The NCL Star offered a great itinerary for a Christmas cruise and was right out of LA, and 20 minutes from our home. Our 2 daughters would be home from east coast colleges and wanted some hot weather and beach time. This cruise fit into their schedules too. Ship - the recent refurbished Star was very nice. The updated color scheme was nicely done. Also, the entire ship was decorated with gingerbread houses and Christmas decor. Although the ship is not the easiest layout to navigate, there were certain aspects that were nice. First, the multi-tiered deckchair area by the pool and seating areas by the pool bar and pool made finding seating easy. There was always an open area to sit or lay out. Even on this fully booked cruise with over 1200 kids from birth-17. Second, the hidden hot tub at the bow of the ship was great for adults wanting to relax away from the main pool. In addition, the sky bar and H20 provided additional options for adults wanting to enjoy great views and bar time. The food was good to great. We usually ate in specialty and suite restaurants, but did enjoy Aqua for Christmas dinner and Versailles for lunch. The service was excellent every time we ate. No problems there. Room service was quite good and delivered on time as well. The staff were amazing. Our room steward, Arvin, and butler, Rex, were top notch. They were quick to respond and made sure we were happy and had what ever we needed. Other staff greeted us with smiles and wanted to make sure all passengers were happy. The officers spent time with passengers and seemed to enjoy talking and joking with folks. The Captain had a great sense of humor and mingled with passengers too. The cruise director was entertaining and funny. Entertainment: The dancers and singers were top notch. We also loved the comedian, Tim Kaminski. He was hilarious and enjoyed talking to passengers when he was just relaxing around the ship. The piano player and house band, Game of Tones were both quite good. The show Paradis seemed to lack a plot. The singing and dancing were good, though. The Christmas show, although a little hokey, was fun and good for chidden. Our excursions were perfect for what our family wanted to do - relax on beaches and snorkel. Well worth the money in our opinion. Needed improvement - The internet was the WORST we have ever experienced, even with the top package. Not worth the money. We could never stream or upload photos. Even Facebook was hard to use. The other disappointment was the new lighting they installed. They have tried to use energy saving lighting but it is not set up properly. The lights in the Bistro flickered so much that it gave us headaches and we had to leave. Also, the lights in our bathroom were so low you could not do makeup or hair styling there. Suite experience - There is no Haven on the Star, but most of the perks were available such as priority embarkation/disembarkation, specialty dining for breakfast and lunch, bottle of sparkling wine, concierge (she was great), butler and afternoon treats -yum! There is no separate pool but that was ok. We spent most of our time in H2O or the hot tub on the bow. All in all this was a great cruise for our family. The weather was great except for the last sea day which was windy and very rough. This seems to be the norm though when heading back to LA. Read Less

I was not sure what to expect. I was worried I would be bored out at sea. However, that was not the case! There was so much to do and it took careful planning each day to make sure I had my fill of interesting entertainment. I absolutely loved the phone app! It made planning easier. The food was amazing in every venue. The wait for Anytime Dining was at most 10 minutes some nights. Our cabin had an attentive steward. The beds were extremely comfortable. Everything was clean. Ports were easy to get on and off the ship. I chose to walk around Cabo San Lucas and then in both Matzalan and Puerto Vallarta, I found a taxi driver to give me a local city tour. I was not disappointed. I had so much fun that I am plan to come back in a month and do the same cruise again, then setting my sights on an Alaskan cruise. Read Less

The cruise director lee really made the trip perfect for everyone no matter your age I even witnessed him stop in his tracks to talk to a lil girl . He kneeled down to her level and had an entire conversation made me tear up thinking of some amazing cruise directors we have had that have truly made Sam a priority before .. chefs table truly still one of the best dinning possibilities on the ship you must try this .. book early . The shows are always a real fun part of the day . Met a very nice woman at dinner her name was Annie , (73) and full of life one of the best dinners we had . Everyone asks why carnival ? Well because if you are o-100 they care and will stop to hear what you have to say . The best story I hear was a couple from paradise , they were called and told that thier trip was going to be completely covered .. amazing we talked to them night after night hearing story after story about the amazing trip .. Thank you I will keep coming back to hear more from others Read Less

Outstanding Cruise on the Ruby Princess. Great service from the cabin steward to the head waiter, all outstanding. We had a great room location - L309 - this was an ideal location for accessing the Lotus Spa, the Sanctuary and adults only pool, and the stairs to access the piazza and dining. We loved the enrichment programs such as the cooking demonstration and galley tour. The banter between the Head Chef and Maitre De was hysterical. We really enjoyed the shore excursions - we took in Whale watching in which we got a lot of great photos of humpback whales, seals, and dolphins and an old town city tour of Puerta Viarta. It included Tequila tasting at an organic farm and distillery, a lunch at El Set that had great food and spectacular views. The weather was perfect and the ship was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The food was fantastic and the staff was extremely accommodating to Julia's dietary restrictions. We highly recommend Princess Cruises and the Ruby Princess! Read Less

We love the Grand Princess. It's getting a bit old but for some fleets, it is a perfect ship. The ship is still rather large but it's also small enough that you can easily find your way to anywhere you need to get to. I love Desk 5 and the Piazza area. The international cafe and coffee bar is fantastic. Alvin, Sonny, Lala and others really take care of your coffee needs. The pastries/desserts and sandwich area is always packed with delights to satisfy your cravings. Alfredo's pizzeria is the best on the ship. They even made a gluten free pizza for my wife and baked in a separate oven to avoid cross contamination. Our favorite dining room, the Michelangelo is on Deck 5 with the Da Vinci on deck 6. Both are the same as they share the same kitchen and the wait staff went out of their way to ensure my wife had a pleasant voyage with her food allergy. Read Less

We have done over 30 cruises, 28 on Princess. The ship and staff are outstanding. We loved the charm of the ship even though it is showing some signs of wear and tear (Princess Theater seats need to be reupholstered.) Club Class meals were a highlight. The food and service were outstanding. Every night Giovanni, the Head Waiter, made a special dish. We had seen all of the shows so we did Movies under the Stars and saw a couple of comedians which we enjoyed. Sit away from where food is being prepared which can impact hearing a movie. The Club Class Minisuite was comfortable with a wonderful bed. The room was extremely well-maintained. The lecturers were outstanding especially the series on a Route 66. We love everything about Club Class. We never had to wait and our waiters (Edgar and Alvin were amazing!) The gym was well-maintained with some updated equipment, Especially nice was the international appeal of the cruise. The vast majority of passengers were from the US, China and Canada. The only minor downside was we have seen all of the shows multiple times. The6 need some new ones. Read Less

Took the 12/13 to 12/16 weekend cruise to Mexico on Carnival Imagination. I have done this trip before and I've always had a good time. The Imagination is an older ship. This is to say that it doesn't have the amenities of the newer ships such as alternative dining or all the extra entertainment options you will find on the new builds. What you will get in return is an uncrowded ship (only about 2000 passengers) and a shower in your stateroom that you can actually turn around in. Sure the rooms don't have a fridge, unless you opt for the suites, but the extra shower room is nice. Breakfast options are abundant: Lido Buffet, Blue Iguana Cantina for breakfast burritos, room service and on sea days the awesome Sea Day brunch. Lunch offerings are Guy's Burger Joint, the deli in the buffet, the buffet, 24 hour pizza pirate and room service. Dinner is the restaurant, deli, pizza pirate, the buffet and room service. I have to admit that I've never ordered room service over the many times I've sailed on Imagination so I cannot rate the service or food quality. Entertainment was good. I have seen Epic Rock more times than I can count and I still enjoy the show. This show has eight singers/dancers who preform songs from Bon Jovi, Queen, Guns & Roses, Aerosmith, Meatloaf, Joan Jett, Journey and others. I always find myself clapping to the beat and cheering the performers. Such a fun time. They also do a show called Divas that features songs by Madonna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Rhianna and others. It is a fun show, but I prefer Epic Rock. All the employees were friendly. Whether it was a bar steward, a waiter or jr waiter, room steward or someone you were passing in the hall. They all seemed happy and were there with a smile and a friendly hello. I've done just about all the tours and sightseeing there is to do in Ensenada. From visiting La Bufadora, to horseback riding, craft beer and wine tasting and the bar hop tour, I've found that the best way to experience Ensenada is just to get out there and walk around. I have limited Spanish vocabulary but have found that many of the people in the tourist areas speak English. Its Mexico so don't be afraid to haggle with the vendors. They expect it and you will end up paying too much if you don't. In my opinion this is a great vacation option. I only had to take two days off of work. What a great way to let lose and relieve stress. If you're looking for a fun, short cruise without breaking the bank, I recommend taking one of the Carnival weekend cruises. Either Imagination or Inspiration. Read Less

We were looking for warmer weather and this cruise was a great deal. Cabin was very nice but the best part was the dining. We had John, Hossain and Simoj as our wait staff and they made dinner time so must more then awesome. The service we received was like going to a four or five star restaurant. We really enjoyed Santa Catalina island and the time on shore, included a glass bottom boat tour while we were there. The island is not large and we were able to see quite a bit of it in the 5 to 6 hours we were there. The show are smaller and have more audience interaction then the larger ships we have been on. We did all the variety shows and a lot of the comedy shows, did not go to any thing we did not like. We enjoyed the cruise and had fun with the people at our table. Read Less

Don't understand why some many poor reviews of the Eurodam. I know everyone has their own opinion, so I will just leave it at that. We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our Mexican cruise on Eurodam. Embarkation took a little time, but HAL waits until all cabins are ready onboard and then lets it's guest onboard. Did not bother us in the least bit. We were on the ship by noon. This ship was updated in 2016 and it shows. We have been aboard two other times and were very happy with all of the changes. Our cabin (8121) was a very nice veranda cabin. Plenty of storage space ( and plenty of hangers). Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Our room attendants, DaNang and Nia, did an outstanding job of making sure our cabin was kept fresh everyday. Dining is a very personal thing with all guests. We felt all of the food service was exceptional. DR service was unpretentious and all food presentations were excellent. Food seasoned properly and, for the most part, served hot. As we had Select dining, we dined at several different tables with very wonderful conversational guests. Our server for a couple of the nights was Hondo. He and Evelyn, the wine steward were gracious and accomodating to all. Personally, I appreciated the fact that HAL has introduced some regional cuisine into the menus, so there were some very nice Mexican dishes. The buffet on most ships ( and we travel frequently ) has been suffering with quality levels lately. We did NOT find this aboard the Eurodam. Some people do not like that HAL serves you your food, but it doesn't bother us. The bread products on the ship were outstanding ( not good for my waistline ). Dive In serves one of the best Burgers at sea; The NY Pizza outlet serves baked to order pizzas. Again, some people are put off that the food takes time, but you get a much better product than on most other ships of this caliber. Enjoyed the production shows ( which we have seen before, but still enjoy). All of the Music walk entertainment including BB King Blues, Billboard on Board and Lincoln Center. helped make our evening very enjoyable. Actually prefer the smaller club feeling of BB King on Eurodam, as compared to the ballroom style on Koningsdam. The ports were all great. We have visited them many times in the past and are "excursioned " out. We now leave the ship, enjoy an leisurely walk and wonderful Mexican lunch, and then back on board. Highly recommend the three ports on this cruise. I will state that we love cruising from San Diego. There is so much to do here and I highly recommend that you come in at least two days early or stay after the cruise to enjoy all this city has to offer. Debarkation was very fast, with ample time to get to the airport. Thanks to the entire crew and staff of the Eurodam. We continue to enjoy our HAL cruises and look forward to being on Neiuw Statendam and Koningsdam again this next year! Read Less

This is a good get away cruise. The embarkation was smooth and quick as they have a large upgraded facility. This will be a plus when the Panarama comes to town. Our Steward, Richmond, was kind, very attentive and met all our needs. This is the position that we always give extra tips to. This time we had an inside cabin, due to the small size of the ship, and it had more than enough room for us. Once we boarded we enjoyed a much needed Guy's burger which was delicious! We also hit the deli and the buffet. Rooms were open early so we enyoyed the jacuzzi. We had all of our dinners at the main dining room. The food is always great though it would be good to have more variety added. The breakfast menu was updated and was a great plus with good variety. We stayed on the ship as we had been to the ports before, so we always had chairs by the pool or at the Santuary. The seas day brunch is well worth any wait! The sea day had rain, but we were easily kept busy on our own, though it would be nice to have more of a variety of games or dance classes. The disembarkation was easy and we were off quickly after an early breakfast. Read Less

We usually sail on Carnival, however, I'm glad we booked the Ruby Princess for our 7-day Mexico cruise. We were platinum and were upgraded to a junior suite. Our room steward was excellent, he parked his cart across from our stateroom so we received excellent service. Carnival could get a lesson in ship design, Ruby does not put a band next to guest services. The horizon buffet food was excellent, very diversified. The main dining room food was very good with spacious tables. The pools were heated, unlike Carnival's cold water. The music was top notch, the mariachi band was good, and the best piano player I ever heard and I was in the business for 18 years. Anyone who complains about this ship should stay home. Our stateroom attendant was a dream come true who helped us so much with my Sister and Brother-in-Law. The stateroom was just below Lido deck so I did not have a long walk and elevator ride in the mornings when taking my Wife her first cup of coffee. And the entertainment was top notch. They were great talents. The comedians brought down the house. The lounge singers were hypnotic! I had an incredible memorable time!!!!!!!!!!! And as a solo single gal traveller I felt completely safe as well. The excursions were informative, educational and inspiring ( I selected excursions that were geared toward the arts and culture and they definitely delivered) I was overjoyed with every aspect of my excursion experience. The memories are so rich and enriching that I'm still elated thinking of it. If I absolutely had to think of any criticism is that I do wish more ships has solo cruiser rates ( but I understand that that's not the norm for the cruise industry... while I would love it! I just planned accordingly ). And in regards to the menu as a vegan and gluten free traveller I appreciated their efforts so much and hope that they will continue to grow in that area so that there is even greater variety of entrees that incorporate both. Embarkation: Arrived around mid day. Checked in and immediately walked on board. Excellent! Food: Buffet was generally good with a wide selection of dishes. Omelettes at breakfast were excellent. Pub lunch - servers were confused and made many mistakes. The fish on the fish and chips plate were a bit greasy. Dinner - The first two night the service was terrible. The assistant waiter seemed to be completely confused - could not find wines on the wine list and in one case gave a guest a chardonnay instead of a moscato and when told by the guest that it definitely was not Moscato, argued with the guest that it was. Plates were put in front of the wrong guests, extremely slow with long wait between courses. On the second night, spoke with the head waiter and told him everything that was going wrong. I also pointed out that we were a group of 12 and my wife was the travel agent and some of the group were first time cruisers who may become last time cruisers if this went on. I was very polite with he head waiter and he promised he would fix it. The next evening, the service was what I would expect from Princess and improved exponentially from the first two nights. The head waiter had added an additional experienced waiter to mentor and keep track of the two other waiters. I thanked him for fixing the issue. Despite the initial service issue, the food in the dining room was excellent throughout, I would suggest to those who think the food wasn't good, if your palette is used to fried chicken and meatloaf then eat in the buffet or try a different type of vacation. Entertainment: For what little we saw it was generally good but a bit loud in the bars making conversation difficult. We all thought that and our age group ranged from 30's to 70. Ports: We did not do any excursions since most of us had been there before but we had a great time at teach port. Cabin: Some of us had mini-suites and the rest had balconies - all with the sip and sail package which included free total beverage package! Cabin steward was very good. No complaints about anything else. We all had a great time on this cruise and the first timers will definitely do it again! I gave 5 stars because although there was an initial issue with dinner service it was fixed promptly and to our satisfaction. If something is wrong, don't wait until the end of the cruise and then post a negative review - get it fixed and if it's not fixed, then post your negative review! Read Less

Hi all Unlike many other reviews, we found the Emerald Princess to be just about perfect. Oh sure, there are a few areas that show some wear, and a few employees that don't smile as much as others, but quite honestly, we go to relax and enjoy the food, each other, and scenery and don't pay much attention to trivial things. MDR food was better than i remember from other Princess cruises. Everything was great and seasoned well. SHARE is a gem. Magdalena was the best waitress we have had, and the food was perfect. Pizza is always awesome, and even the buffet food was good and fresh. Cabin was nice. The setup for the fourth berth out of the ceiling is a bit clunky, but after a few minutes we learned to work around it. 24 hours in Cabo was great. Its nice to have time to explore a port and not worry about rushing about to get back before the ship leaves. I recommend anyone to do this itinerary for that. We showed up at our arrival time as provided by Princess, and as a result, we were on the ship in 15 minutes. Kids club was a smash for our 7 and 10 year old, they were crying the last night because they didn't want to leave and had so much fun. Great staff here too, very patient and professional Read Less

I was not the one to choose this cruise, because a relative generously took our whole extended family on it and covered the cost. But I couldn't have asked for a better experience: the rooms were comfortable and clean, the service was extraordinary and flawless, the entertainment was excellent, and the ship itself was beautiful. There were so many things to do and it was all perfectly organized. I especially appreciated the Princess app that allowed people to set up a messaging system with other devices on board, which was a plus because of how large our group was. The dining was amazing as well, especially the sit-down dinners in the formal dining rooms. The activities were diverse and interesting, and well-designed. Embarkation went well, especially because the porters took our bags to our room for us, but disembarkation was much harder and there was little organization. When we reached port in Cabo San Lucas, the tender system worked very well and we had little trouble exploring the city. We knew everything we needed to know about the ship's departure times and when the last tender was going to leave, so that was very helpful. The service on board was, as I said, excellent, but there were many people who did not speak English as a first language and it made them very difficult to understand. Read Less

I recently moved to the west coast and i wanted to take a vacation before the year was over. After talking to my best friend, i decided to take a cruise. I took the 3 day cruise out of long beach to ensenada. Everything was absolutely amazing. The ship was so organized and the excursion was great. Getting on and off the ship was fast. I booked an excursion with carnival that picked us up right at the port of call and got us back to the ship in ample time. I had a interior port hole cabin on deck 6. I did feel some rocking but it was soothing. The food was delicious and there was always something to do like the divas show and trivia. You get so much for a great price. There was something for everyone like a club, children's activities and even a library that has board games. I will be taking my 5 year old daughter in May. Read Less

We were asked to go on this cruise with family members who chose the Carnival Cruise Lines as they have cruised before with Carnival and always have a great time. We enjoyed every moment on the ship, shore excursions, the people who work on the ship are some of the nicest, most genuine people we've ever come across. Embarkation and debarkation was so smooth and easy, we were happily surprised. Thank you to our frequent bartender Martina-we enjoyed talking to you and the ship is lucky to have you on board! Our room steward was the best!-attentive, taking care of anything we needed-thank you so much Rodel! And the nightly dinner staff, well, we were lucky enough to get the best one on the ship I believe. Rusmiyanto, Yanuav, and Ludi. And please forgive me if I have misspelled any of your names, but thanks again for making our dining experiences the best, keep on dancing! And breakfast in the Lido while waiting to disembark, I want to thank Alexander so much for being so helpful and friendly. Read Less

My husband and I love cruising, and we chose the Carnival Splendor because we can drive to the port. This is our second time on the Splendor. We have been to Mexico many times and love it. We arrived at the port of Long Beach, and embarkation was very organized and went very smoothly. We had "Faster to Fun" which allowed us the embark more quickly. We chose a balcony cabin. We found it spacious with plenty of storage. Our room steward was excellent. The "My Time" dining room was excellent. Service was above and beyond what we have experienced in the past with "My Time" dining.(My husband and I have learned that if you want to be seated quickly in the "My Time" dining room, arrive a few minutes before it opens. We also find the waiters we like and ask for their area.) On the Splendor we found our waiters the first night and asked for their area every night. They were excellent, anticipating what we liked, for example, we like a diet coke at dinner and they always had it waiting for us. We did the Chef's table for the first time and it was excellent. It was a many course dinner. It started with a tour of the galley. I would recommend doing this. The food and service was excellent. Entertainment was very good. We did not go to the comedy shows. We did go to the production shows and loved them. We did not purchase any excursions. We walked around the ports on our own. Disembarkation was very organized, and went smoothly and quickly. In summary, we loved this cruise and what stands out is the great service we received from a fantastic crew. Read Less

A very nice, not too long or too short cruise. We live north of San Francisco, so just a bus ride to the ship. The Grand is older but still a great ship. We had a great cruise and met some nice people. The staff is wonderful and friendly. Entertainment was great, themed around Mexico with entertainment and food choices. Lots of bar areas with entertainment, lots of things to do or just relax & sit on the outside deck or inside. Lots of places to sit and read or talk or play games. There is a small library too. So much food, and so many choices of where to eat. Dining room, cafe, afternoon tea, pizzeria, coffee/cones bar, hot dogs/hamburgers grill, buffet, extra fee restaurants. Loved the afternoon teatime. Lots of shore excursions to choose from. I would take this cruise again in the future but after I cruise to some new places. Read Less
