Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Grand Princess

My wife Liz and I have been wanting to go to Cabo so we just jumped in. Got a balcony room, bought the packages and got to it. First thing is that dining room food is great, but buffet was minimal. Minimal crowd so that was nice. Cruise Director and staff are really something special. Gary and Steff and the lot-wonderful. I'd say being an older ship it was good but not great. But the entertainment ...

A great escape from Covid-19, but a horrendous return experience

This is a tough review to write because on one hand, getting back out on the water and cruising was the most welcome respite from an otherwise awful 18ish months of hell due to the pandemic, but on the other hand, there were a number of hiccups and overall issues that prevented this from being the experience that we'd hoped for. 1) Experience on board/Embarkation process: Embarkation was a ...

Good But Not Great

I was excited to sail again and was looking forward to Princess' new Medallion Class experience. Using the Princess app made pre-embarkation easy. Completing all off the forms and uploading ID photos in advance made check-in at the pier a breeze. Of course, there were only 565 passengers (on a ship with a capacity of 2600) on this short voyage so there were no lines. In California, proof of ...

Fun cruise but issues

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Carnival Miracle

I was so ready to go on a cruise again. This cruise was on an older ship. I know there can be issues. This was just a lot. First, the food was lacking in every restaurant venue. Second, the ship had rules about masks and things that were not enforced, which I found frustrating. Some of the drinks were downright awful, which I have never experienced before. Lastly. In the middle of the night, there ...

Spotless ship, fantastic crew but too many Corporate problems plagued this cruise.

We chose back to back on the Konningsdam before all of the Zuiderdam early San Diego cruises were cancelled so we ended up being on the first Holland America voyage from San Diego. We expected challenges and Holland America did not dissappoint. Embarkation was the easiest we have ever had. Showed up at 11:30am to drop off luggage (our priority group A1 boarding was 1:pm due to crew ...

Frustrating communication and app issues, but good crew and entertainment

This was our first time on Holland America, though we've been on their sister line Princess multiple times. We'd heard that HA's food and entertainment were comparable quality, and the disembarkation port was convenient to us, so we decided to give HA a shot. Important note: we are in our early thirties and most of HA's guests are 60 and up. We were clearly the youngest couple on the ship (though ...

Ship is nice, food okay (not what I expected), Cabo was cool but a storm made us leave early. Entertainer Darren Dowler extraordinary!

I'd always heard Princess was the king so we booked a Princess Cruise. Good drinks, food, dancing and more. PROS: One Pro was singer Darren Dowler. He's a somewhat famous singer, guitarist, actor (Rock and Roll the Movie) and does INCREDIBLE impressions. Saying he's good looking, a great guitarist and singer, great impressionist are all gross understatements! This was the maybe the best show ...

They missed the boat...

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Carnival Panorama

This was a post Covid vacation on my favorite cruise lines. The Panorama, being new, was an exciting option. The boarding process was similar to the early 2000's with long lines that moved slowly, only to show ID that previously was handled in a single transaction at the terminal entry point. Honestly, this was a step way back! My previous cruises embarkation was just a few minutes. The ...

We are new to Princess and wanted to just get away for a short time. We did two back to back cruises (the 4 day and 5 day out of LA) to enjoy the days at sea along with the ports. We arrived at LAX at 8:30 am on the day of the cruise (booked through Princess) and waited until 10 am for the bus to the ship. We were in group 1 for boarding; the check-in process was seamless and waited in the ...

Average at Best. This will probably be our last Carnival Cruise

So before the whole COVID thing, we booked a Carnival vacation for a Spring 2021 Vacation with our twin 17 year olds boys. It was a great price for 2 connecting cabins during the week when their school is closed for spring break so we decided to give Carnival a second chance after an average experience on our first Carnival cruise in 2018. Well that Spring cruise was cancelled and we re-booked for ...
