Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Carnival Elation

This was my third Carnival cruise, but my first in 17 years and my first with kids. Boy has the quality deteriorated since I last cruised. The embarkation process was smooth and quick if all documents were in hand. Our room was not ready so we ate at Tiffany's Restaurant. There were several buffet stations inside and out and it was impossible to see what was at each one without standing in long ...

We arrived in San Diego a few days prior to our cruise to Catalina Island and Ensenada MX. In April the weather can be chilly in San Diego and Ensenada - which can be multiplied by two (2) when on the ocean. We packed warm clothes and I am glad we did because there were a number of people sporting $35.00 Carnival coats which after feeling the quality of material were not worth more than $8 - 10 ...

I never in a million years, imagined I would be writing something online. I have never even written a letter of complaint before because I have tried to give people the benefit of the doubt, and I've tried very hard to remain balanced and fair.  However, my recent experience dealing with Carnival Corporation on their new and biggest ship, the Splendor, has left me feeling VERY frustrated and ...

My Overpriced Cruise On The Coral Princess

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Coral Princess

I /we returned from the Panama Canal cruise on Coral Princess that left April 26th and returned May 15th. We were on the Aloha deck.  That cruise was not what I paid for! We went from 9 ports down to 6 ports with one being going to Nicaragua twice and the other being San Diego. Going to Nicaragua twice is unforgiving. It is a dirty, filthy, poverty stricken place with dead animal carcasses in the ...

If you're cruising out of L.A. (San Pedro) try the Holiday Inn San Pedro one mile from the docks. Catch the Blue Shuttle ($17 one way) from LAX to the hotel door. Holiday Inn okay. Has a shuttle ($5.) or take a taxi ($7.85.) to docks. Breakfast quite good and the ambiance of the breakfast room is 16th century Spanish which fits in well with San Pedro. For dinner the night before try The ...

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Carnival Elation

We wanted to take a short cruise to celebrate our sixth wedding anniversary over the Lincoln/President's Day long weekend. Being native Californians, we had never tried the shortie cruise that almost everyone in their brother has been on. After 10+ cruises on other cruise lines were we ever in store for many surprises on the Carnival Elation. Cons: Despite its youthful 11 years in age, the ...

NCL: The cruise line that just doesn't care

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Norwegian Star

I have cruised before but my husband had not. We went on his first with NCL on the Dawn. It was a very nice cruise, with good service and food. 2 years later we went again same ship, but with far worse results. We had to give them another chance. We went on the Star with other family members hoping for the best. What we got was far worse than we would have ever thought. We all felt like we ...

First and last on NCL

Thought I would give NCL a try. Good initial prices. Booked interior for two around $780. Not bad I thought. But, after spending a week on board, I can see what NCL is doing, and they will not get my business again ever. Here is what I saw: EMBARKATION - Actually went well. Mainly due to the fact that the star was one of only two ships in port. Plus, San Pedro is a very easy port to embark in. ...

Where do I begin. Boarding was extremely long. took about an hour and a half to get on board the ship. Once we received our baggage my husband noticed they had busted his pocket PC. He went down to complain about it and they filled out paperwork for so called Insurance reasons and told him that he had to come back on the last day of the cruise to find out what they were going to do about it. When ...

Three of us in 2 SS cabins. All three of us are Mariner Club members. All of us have at least 15 cruises under our belts. We are semi-retired and want value for money. We do not cruise in groups nor do we partake of many organized activities, preferring to fill our days as we see fit. We were advised by our travel agent two days prior to departure that the boarding would be pushed back to 3pm so ...
