Amazing stops , great fun through out the whole time . Amazing comedians . The cruise director lee really made the trip perfect for everyone no matter your age I even witnessed him stop in his tracks to talk to a lil girl . He kneeled down to her level and had an entire conversation made me tear up thinking of some amazing cruise directors we have had that have truly made Sam a priority before .. chefs table truly still one of the best dinning possibilities on the ship you must try this .. book early . The shows are always a real fun part of the day . Met a very nice woman at dinner her name was Annie , (73) and full of life one of the best dinners we had . Everyone asks why carnival ? Well because if you are o-100 they care and will stop to hear what you have to say . The best story I hear was a couple from paradise , they were called and told that thier trip was going to be completely covered .. amazing we talked to them night after night hearing story after story about the amazing trip .. Thank you I will keep coming back to hear more from others Read Less

Outstanding Cruise on the Ruby Princess. Great service from the cabin steward to the head waiter, all outstanding. We had a great room location - L309 - this was an ideal location for accessing the Lotus Spa, the Sanctuary and adults only pool, and the stairs to access the piazza and dining. We loved the enrichment programs such as the cooking demonstration and galley tour. The banter between the Head Chef and Maitre De was hysterical. We really enjoyed the shore excursions - we took in Whale watching in which we got a lot of great photos of humpback whales, seals, and dolphins and an old town city tour of Puerta Viarta. It included Tequila tasting at an organic farm and distillery, a lunch at El Set that had great food and spectacular views. The weather was perfect and the ship was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The food was fantastic and the staff was extremely accommodating to Julia's dietary restrictions. We highly recommend Princess Cruises and the Ruby Princess! Read Less

Embarkation and disembarkation was very smoothly. Our cabin was very nice and clean . Our Stewart Eleo was very professional. Always smile and ready to help us at anytime. Tours well organized. Food was excellent, always fresh and tasty. Dining room service was Superb. We love the Ship. It was very well decorated and very easy oriented thru the ship. Entertainment was Great. Specially we love piano player Zigi. Every day he has different music. All activity’s create a great atmosphere and you want to do it again. We walk a lot around the ship and use exercise room. We had a nice morning and evening walk outside in Promenade deck . We already book another cruise in February on Grand Princess. Thank you Princess cruises! Read Less

We love the Grand Princess. It's getting a bit old but for some fleets, it is a perfect ship. The ship is still rather large but it's also small enough that you can easily find your way to anywhere you need to get to. I love Desk 5 and the Piazza area. The international cafe and coffee bar is fantastic. Alvin, Sonny, Lala and others really take care of your coffee needs. The pastries/desserts and sandwich area is always packed with delights to satisfy your cravings. Alfredo's pizzeria is the best on the ship. They even made a gluten free pizza for my wife and baked in a separate oven to avoid cross contamination. Our favorite dining room, the Michelangelo is on Deck 5 with the Da Vinci on deck 6. Both are the same as they share the same kitchen and the wait staff went out of their way to ensure my wife had a pleasant voyage with her food allergy. Read Less

We have done over 30 cruises, 28 on Princess. The ship and staff are outstanding. We loved the charm of the ship even though it is showing some signs of wear and tear (Princess Theater seats need to be reupholstered.) Club Class meals were a highlight. The food and service were outstanding. Every night Giovanni, the Head Waiter, made a special dish. We had seen all of the shows so we did Movies under the Stars and saw a couple of comedians which we enjoyed. Sit away from where food is being prepared which can impact hearing a movie. The Club Class Minisuite was comfortable with a wonderful bed. The room was extremely well-maintained. The lecturers were outstanding especially the series on a Route 66. We love everything about Club Class. We never had to wait and our waiters (Edgar and Alvin were amazing!) The gym was well-maintained with some updated equipment, Especially nice was the international appeal of the cruise. The vast majority of passengers were from the US, China and Canada. The only minor downside was we have seen all of the shows multiple times. The6 need some new ones. Read Less

Took the 12/13 to 12/16 weekend cruise to Mexico on Carnival Imagination. I have done this trip before and I've always had a good time. The Imagination is an older ship. This is to say that it doesn't have the amenities of the newer ships such as alternative dining or all the extra entertainment options you will find on the new builds. What you will get in return is an uncrowded ship (only about 2000 passengers) and a shower in your stateroom that you can actually turn around in. Sure the rooms don't have a fridge, unless you opt for the suites, but the extra shower room is nice. Breakfast options are abundant: Lido Buffet, Blue Iguana Cantina for breakfast burritos, room service and on sea days the awesome Sea Day brunch. Lunch offerings are Guy's Burger Joint, the deli in the buffet, the buffet, 24 hour pizza pirate and room service. Dinner is the restaurant, deli, pizza pirate, the buffet and room service. I have to admit that I've never ordered room service over the many times I've sailed on Imagination so I cannot rate the service or food quality. Entertainment was good. I have seen Epic Rock more times than I can count and I still enjoy the show. This show has eight singers/dancers who preform songs from Bon Jovi, Queen, Guns & Roses, Aerosmith, Meatloaf, Joan Jett, Journey and others. I always find myself clapping to the beat and cheering the performers. Such a fun time. They also do a show called Divas that features songs by Madonna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Rhianna and others. It is a fun show, but I prefer Epic Rock. All the employees were friendly. Whether it was a bar steward, a waiter or jr waiter, room steward or someone you were passing in the hall. They all seemed happy and were there with a smile and a friendly hello. I've done just about all the tours and sightseeing there is to do in Ensenada. From visiting La Bufadora, to horseback riding, craft beer and wine tasting and the bar hop tour, I've found that the best way to experience Ensenada is just to get out there and walk around. I have limited Spanish vocabulary but have found that many of the people in the tourist areas speak English. Its Mexico so don't be afraid to haggle with the vendors. They expect it and you will end up paying too much if you don't. In my opinion this is a great vacation option. I only had to take two days off of work. What a great way to let lose and relieve stress. If you're looking for a fun, short cruise without breaking the bank, I recommend taking one of the Carnival weekend cruises. Either Imagination or Inspiration. Read Less

We were looking for warmer weather and this cruise was a great deal. Cabin was very nice but the best part was the dining. We had John, Hossain and Simoj as our wait staff and they made dinner time so must more then awesome. The service we received was like going to a four or five star restaurant. We really enjoyed Santa Catalina island and the time on shore, included a glass bottom boat tour while we were there. The island is not large and we were able to see quite a bit of it in the 5 to 6 hours we were there. The show are smaller and have more audience interaction then the larger ships we have been on. We did all the variety shows and a lot of the comedy shows, did not go to any thing we did not like. We enjoyed the cruise and had fun with the people at our table. Read Less

Don't understand why some many poor reviews of the Eurodam. I know everyone has their own opinion, so I will just leave it at that. We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our Mexican cruise on Eurodam. Embarkation took a little time, but HAL waits until all cabins are ready onboard and then lets it's guest onboard. Did not bother us in the least bit. We were on the ship by noon. This ship was updated in 2016 and it shows. We have been aboard two other times and were very happy with all of the changes. Our cabin (8121) was a very nice veranda cabin. Plenty of storage space ( and plenty of hangers). Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Our room attendants, DaNang and Nia, did an outstanding job of making sure our cabin was kept fresh everyday. Dining is a very personal thing with all guests. We felt all of the food service was exceptional. DR service was unpretentious and all food presentations were excellent. Food seasoned properly and, for the most part, served hot. As we had Select dining, we dined at several different tables with very wonderful conversational guests. Our server for a couple of the nights was Hondo. He and Evelyn, the wine steward were gracious and accomodating to all. Personally, I appreciated the fact that HAL has introduced some regional cuisine into the menus, so there were some very nice Mexican dishes. The buffet on most ships ( and we travel frequently ) has been suffering with quality levels lately. We did NOT find this aboard the Eurodam. Some people do not like that HAL serves you your food, but it doesn't bother us. The bread products on the ship were outstanding ( not good for my waistline ). Dive In serves one of the best Burgers at sea; The NY Pizza outlet serves baked to order pizzas. Again, some people are put off that the food takes time, but you get a much better product than on most other ships of this caliber. Enjoyed the production shows ( which we have seen before, but still enjoy). All of the Music walk entertainment including BB King Blues, Billboard on Board and Lincoln Center. helped make our evening very enjoyable. Actually prefer the smaller club feeling of BB King on Eurodam, as compared to the ballroom style on Koningsdam. The ports were all great. We have visited them many times in the past and are "excursioned " out. We now leave the ship, enjoy an leisurely walk and wonderful Mexican lunch, and then back on board. Highly recommend the three ports on this cruise. I will state that we love cruising from San Diego. There is so much to do here and I highly recommend that you come in at least two days early or stay after the cruise to enjoy all this city has to offer. Debarkation was very fast, with ample time to get to the airport. Thanks to the entire crew and staff of the Eurodam. We continue to enjoy our HAL cruises and look forward to being on Neiuw Statendam and Koningsdam again this next year! Read Less

Convenient cruise- easy getting form the Long Beach airport to the cruise ship- & used the shuttle as only myself traveling, but if I was with a group would have used UBER to get to & from the ship . I wanted a short itinerary, to determine if I would enjoy solo cruising. Was great being able to have cabin to self, able to do what I wanted when I wanted & how I wanted. Totally enjoyed the sauna, steam room & gym. was well taken care of by my room steward, Supron - always had a full ice container, room cleaned as necessary Did the Chef's table & was impressed by all the food that was fixed & served, Learned many interesting facts about the food, preparation & many ingredients for the many foods that was served to us. Even learned some new things about different herbs & spices to combine with different foods. In Ensenada discovered a great place to go for a massage- Massage & Facial Wellness - within walking distance of the ship- and very reasonable priced, then did a chocolate class at the Maya Cacao- learning how chocolate is made form cacao beans- Did I mention that is all organic & they use the profits to support orphanages in the area Read Less

This is a good get away cruise. The embarkation was smooth and quick as they have a large upgraded facility. This will be a plus when the Panarama comes to town. Our Steward, Richmond, was kind, very attentive and met all our needs. This is the position that we always give extra tips to. This time we had an inside cabin, due to the small size of the ship, and it had more than enough room for us. Once we boarded we enjoyed a much needed Guy's burger which was delicious! We also hit the deli and the buffet. Rooms were open early so we enyoyed the jacuzzi. We had all of our dinners at the main dining room. The food is always great though it would be good to have more variety added. The breakfast menu was updated and was a great plus with good variety. We stayed on the ship as we had been to the ports before, so we always had chairs by the pool or at the Santuary. The seas day brunch is well worth any wait! The sea day had rain, but we were easily kept busy on our own, though it would be nice to have more of a variety of games or dance classes. The disembarkation was easy and we were off quickly after an early breakfast. Read Less

We usually sail on Carnival, however, I'm glad we booked the Ruby Princess for our 7-day Mexico cruise. We were platinum and were upgraded to a junior suite. Our room steward was excellent, he parked his cart across from our stateroom so we received excellent service. Carnival could get a lesson in ship design, Ruby does not put a band next to guest services. The horizon buffet food was excellent, very diversified. The main dining room food was very good with spacious tables. The pools were heated, unlike Carnival's cold water. The music was top notch, the mariachi band was good, and the best piano player I ever heard and I was in the business for 18 years. Anyone who complains about this ship should stay home. It is a ship and not a boat. Calling this ship a boat is like calling Mount Everest a hill. Written by: Captian Glen Read Less

Invited my Sister and Brother-in-Law for their first time Princess cruise and they really enjoyed themselves, my BIL wanted a really short cruise and he got it. Our stateroom attendant was a dream come true who helped us so much with my Sister and Brother-in-Law. The stateroom was just below Lido deck so I did not have a long walk and elevator ride in the mornings when taking my Wife her first cup of coffee. We were also close to the elevators and the laundry room. Everyone greeted us and there were smiles everywhere. The entertainment was great and the comedian was really funny. Food selection was great and the service was excellent but tables were at times scarce in the Horizon Court. We really likes the fresh made Pizza and the Ice Cream bar. The Captain spoke to us on the intercom system a number of times and he has a funny side which was a delight. Read Less

The staff was courteous, fun, friendly, helpful, accommodating and kind. My room always sparkled. Room service was in the time frame stated. And the entertainment was top notch. They were great talents. The comedians brought down the house. The lounge singers were hypnotic! I had an incredible memorable time!!!!!!!!!!! And as a solo single gal traveller I felt completely safe as well. The excursions were informative, educational and inspiring ( I selected excursions that were geared toward the arts and culture and they definitely delivered) I was overjoyed with every aspect of my excursion experience. The memories are so rich and enriching that I'm still elated thinking of it. If I absolutely had to think of any criticism is that I do wish more ships has solo cruiser rates ( but I understand that that's not the norm for the cruise industry... while I would love it! I just planned accordingly ). And in regards to the menu as a vegan and gluten free traveller I appreciated their efforts so much and hope that they will continue to grow in that area so that there is even greater variety of entrees that incorporate both. Overall great job!!! Read Less

Embarkation: Arrived around mid day. Checked in and immediately walked on board. Excellent! Food: Buffet was generally good with a wide selection of dishes. Omelettes at breakfast were excellent. Pub lunch - servers were confused and made many mistakes. The fish on the fish and chips plate were a bit greasy. Dinner - The first two night the service was terrible. The assistant waiter seemed to be completely confused - could not find wines on the wine list and in one case gave a guest a chardonnay instead of a moscato and when told by the guest that it definitely was not Moscato, argued with the guest that it was. Plates were put in front of the wrong guests, extremely slow with long wait between courses. On the second night, spoke with the head waiter and told him everything that was going wrong. I also pointed out that we were a group of 12 and my wife was the travel agent and some of the group were first time cruisers who may become last time cruisers if this went on. I was very polite with he head waiter and he promised he would fix it. The next evening, the service was what I would expect from Princess and improved exponentially from the first two nights. The head waiter had added an additional experienced waiter to mentor and keep track of the two other waiters. I thanked him for fixing the issue. Despite the initial service issue, the food in the dining room was excellent throughout, I would suggest to those who think the food wasn't good, if your palette is used to fried chicken and meatloaf then eat in the buffet or try a different type of vacation. Entertainment: For what little we saw it was generally good but a bit loud in the bars making conversation difficult. We all thought that and our age group ranged from 30's to 70. Ports: We did not do any excursions since most of us had been there before but we had a great time at teach port. Cabin: Some of us had mini-suites and the rest had balconies - all with the sip and sail package which included free total beverage package! Cabin steward was very good. No complaints about anything else. We all had a great time on this cruise and the first timers will definitely do it again! I gave 5 stars because although there was an initial issue with dinner service it was fixed promptly and to our satisfaction. If something is wrong, don't wait until the end of the cruise and then post a negative review - get it fixed and if it's not fixed, then post your negative review! Read Less

Hi all Unlike many other reviews, we found the Emerald Princess to be just about perfect. Oh sure, there are a few areas that show some wear, and a few employees that don't smile as much as others, but quite honestly, we go to relax and enjoy the food, each other, and scenery and don't pay much attention to trivial things. MDR food was better than i remember from other Princess cruises. Everything was great and seasoned well. SHARE is a gem. Magdalena was the best waitress we have had, and the food was perfect. Pizza is always awesome, and even the buffet food was good and fresh. Cabin was nice. The setup for the fourth berth out of the ceiling is a bit clunky, but after a few minutes we learned to work around it. 24 hours in Cabo was great. Its nice to have time to explore a port and not worry about rushing about to get back before the ship leaves. I recommend anyone to do this itinerary for that. We showed up at our arrival time as provided by Princess, and as a result, we were on the ship in 15 minutes. Kids club was a smash for our 7 and 10 year old, they were crying the last night because they didn't want to leave and had so much fun. Great staff here too, very patient and professional Read Less

I was not the one to choose this cruise, because a relative generously took our whole extended family on it and covered the cost. But I couldn't have asked for a better experience: the rooms were comfortable and clean, the service was extraordinary and flawless, the entertainment was excellent, and the ship itself was beautiful. There were so many things to do and it was all perfectly organized. I especially appreciated the Princess app that allowed people to set up a messaging system with other devices on board, which was a plus because of how large our group was. The dining was amazing as well, especially the sit-down dinners in the formal dining rooms. The activities were diverse and interesting, and well-designed. Embarkation went well, especially because the porters took our bags to our room for us, but disembarkation was much harder and there was little organization. When we reached port in Cabo San Lucas, the tender system worked very well and we had little trouble exploring the city. We knew everything we needed to know about the ship's departure times and when the last tender was going to leave, so that was very helpful. The service on board was, as I said, excellent, but there were many people who did not speak English as a first language and it made them very difficult to understand. Read Less

I took the 3 day cruise out of long beach to ensenada. Everything was absolutely amazing. The ship was so organized and the excursion was great. Getting on and off the ship was fast. I booked an excursion with carnival that picked us up right at the port of call and got us back to the ship in ample time. I had a interior port hole cabin on deck 6. I did feel some rocking but it was soothing. The food was delicious and there was always something to do like the divas show and trivia. You get so much for a great price. My husband and I love cruising, and we chose the Carnival Splendor because we can drive to the port. This is our second time on the Splendor. We have been to Mexico many times and love it. We arrived at the port of Long Beach, and embarkation was very organized and went very smoothly. We had "Faster to Fun" which allowed us the embark more quickly. We chose a balcony cabin. We found it spacious with plenty of storage. Our room steward was excellent. The "My Time" dining room was excellent. Service was above and beyond what we have experienced in the past with "My Time" dining.(My husband and I have learned that if you want to be seated quickly in the "My Time" dining room, arrive a few minutes before it opens. We also find the waiters we like and ask for their area.) On the Splendor we found our waiters the first night and asked for their area every night. They were excellent, anticipating what we liked, for example, we like a diet coke at dinner and they always had it waiting for us. We did the Chef's table for the first time and it was excellent. It was a many course dinner. It started with a tour of the galley. I would recommend doing this. The food and service was excellent. Entertainment was very good. We did not go to the comedy shows. We did go to the production shows and loved them. We did not purchase any excursions. We walked around the ports on our own. Disembarkation was very organized, and went smoothly and quickly. So much food, and so many choices of where to eat. Dining room, cafe, afternoon tea, pizzeria, coffee/cones bar, hot dogs/hamburgers grill, buffet, extra fee restaurants. Loved the afternoon teatime. I was invited to cruise this itinerary and the price was great! Our shore excursions that we took were city highlights because I had never been to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, or Cabo San Lucas. The walking tour with Princess Cruises in Mazatlan was the best because we were able to see the city highlights while doing some preferred shopping. From the Cathedral to the Cliff Divers, the tour was great and Akino was fun, funny, and helpful. The bus tours in Puerto Vallarta were rich with culture and knowledge. The Mama' LuciaTequila factory people were super gracious-bring money or your card to buy this great product that is only available in this village. I need to watch Night of the Iguana so I can learn more about the movie greats who brought so much business to this lovely area of the world. Los Cabos was beautiful! The glass factory with the handblown glass items was stunning. And the artists who were making the products did a great job. And our tour guide made sure we knew the difference between a "pachanga" and a "fiesta". LoL. Pachangas are a bit wilder. Dining on board was delicious. We had "any time dining" and sometimes made a reservation for two for the Michelangelo dining room, but mostly we sat with others because my husband and I love hearing and sharing our stories with people from around the world. Sabatini's rocked with the Northern Italian dairy-inspired dishes. But I know my husband really enjoyed the bounty of the sea southern Italian meals. Dancing, night clubs, sitting by the pool. We played miniature golf upstairs, they had many different courses, and although I think they should move some of the signs to be in different positions to where you need to put, it was still very fun! Dani was our lucky dealer! We won with her both in blackjack as well as craps. I would highly suggest seeking her out. It's all about energy when you're gambling and she brings the positivity! I have been taking cruises for several years now, and NCL is my go to Cruise Line. I can't say enough about the Free Style Cruising. The restaurants are wonderful, especially the service, more so in the specialty ones. The entertainment, this time was one of my all time favorites. I had to see Jersey Boys twice. It was such a spectacular production. I truly felt I was on Broadway with the quality of the show. The Bliss incorporated a new feature the "Observation Deck" The lounge was spectacular, so much free space where you could go to relax and get some quality time. The Cruise Director and his staff were excellent as well. Generally the Cruise Director stands out, and the team is in the background. This time his assistant director and the team members were all great in their own way. There was so much to do that 7 days was really not enough time. Unfortunately I don't get enough vacation to take any longer ones. I generally stay in Haven level cabins. This Haven has out done themselves. First the service seemed to be better than ever. The concierge Adrian, met to your every need. The steward of the room Michael was superb as well as the butler. The new observation deck/lounge of the Bliss is second to none. It You could go in through the day and evening and pick up a light snack or enjoy relaxing reading and watching the cruise move along. Another feature is that they made the upper sun deck 16 years old and older, which kept a more adult like atmosphere. The private dinning room was not only a great convenience but truly one of the best restaurants there was on the ship. Since I had never been to any of these ports, I took advantage of all three. The early disembarkation that the Haven get was also a special perk. I am now a Platinum Level Member of eh NCL line and continue to look forward to many more cruises. The perks that are given to the loyal members is also a very enjoyable touch. I have already booked for November 2019 with the first voyage out of Miami of the Encore, their newest ship being launched next November. In between then I am looking for a possible trip perhaps to Cuba. If you are thinking you might want to try this style of cruise line, I encourage you to do so. It truly is an awesome experience. We booked this cruise as a local, easy vacation. We didn't want to fly so we looked for a cruise from LA. I saw the Bliss and was really interested in trying one of NCLs newer ships because our last NCL cruise on the Start was terrible. The food, Entertainment and staff were fantastic. Much better than we were expecting. The Bands and DJs were very good and there was always plenty to do in the evening. Some nights it was hard to choose which event to go to. The Halloween party was really fun with hundreds of people in costume. The ship is beautiful and well layed out. We ate dinner primarily at specialties (5 times) and the MDR. For lunch we also did the MDR or the Local. We loved the Local, great burgers, wings and fish and chips. I think we got wings every day and usually again before heading to bed. Le Bistro was our favorite specialty, followed by Ocean blue, Cagneys, La Cuchina then Los Lobos. Los Lobos was nothing special but being from SoCal we have so much good Mexican food that it would be hard to impress us. So skip it if you know good Mexican because it's no better than El Torito. Now the negatives, We did find some of the venues were too small. The comedians in the Social or Q packed those places and unless you came very early there were no seats. The Cavern was even worse especially when the beatles cover band played. You really needed to get there almost an hour early to get a seat. The other negatives were the wine selection on the beverage package was pathetic, charging for water...really?? and they can't seem to make a decent cup of coffee on that ship. Monor nits in an otherwise great cruise. Read Less
