Have just arrived back from the 18 night Tahitian cruise from Hawaii across to Sydney and have to give the greatest praise for the staff of this wonderful ship.
In perspective we are a couple in our mid 50's recently retired and love mixing with new people ..and certainly we were able to meet lots new friends onboard.

We chose this cruise to celebrate our 70th birthdays and the fact that we could spend a month with our daughter in Melbourne after docking in Sydney.
Food is OK, only two new choices each day for starters and mains and desserts. Many extra restaurants for which premium prices are paid. Staff are excellent and friendly.

Boarded ship in Honolulu and was onboard within 30 minutes. Went straight to Grand Epernay dining room for lunch. Bags arrived promptly except 1 which went astray but turned up early evening.
Stateroom was Concierge 2102 up on the 12th Floor nearest the lifts. DO NOT choose this cabin as it has a storeroom right next door and then a ladies toilet. Being located close to the lifts was handy, but ...

The cruise provides tons of entertainment. The one I personally enjoyed the most is the "Hot Glass Show". You can listen to Jazz on the lawn with lit-up candle lights around you. Very cool. I also enjoyed the closing night performance "ashley amber harris tribute to whitney Houston", which ended the trip on a high note.

I had a special birthday and this cruise and the next one gave me exotic places to visit with little effort. Loved the ports of call. The islands in French Polynesia were truly beautiful. We had no trouble tendering as we are Elite. Rose the Captain's Club Host looked after us well. We wanted to go to New Zealand and Australia. Overall we enjoyed the trip. However, we generally prefer smaller ships. For this trip, the Solstice was a good choice.
Our room was a designated handicapped room with balcony (we didn't require a handicapped room, but it was available and the shipboard location was good). The room size was generous for a cruise liner.

Honolulu is a very vibrant city with all the bells and whistles of any US metropolis, hotels can be expensive, but there are deals to be had so do your homework. Food choices abound in Honolulu , so once again , researching in advance will help you zero in on your personal choices and budget. Bottom line is , everything is there , you just need to find it.
