Sailed out of San Francisco with a couple of rough days at sea (thank you cruisecritic reviewers for the fair warning) during the first couple of days. Weather changed from chilly to nice and warm when the seas calmed. The four sea days going over seemed long, but then a different port each day seemed pretty hectic.
Thanks to Princess' miscommunications about their excursions not being ...
This was our first time on Princess, as we had typically sailed on Carnival in years past. I will say that Carnival cruises can be a lot of fun, but we were going for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation, ideally free from kids and rowdy groups. Princess delivered.
The Ship
The Grand Princess is an older ship, but she wears it well. The interiors have been updated probably several times since ...
Picked this cruise because it's the only one that starts and ends in Honolulu. All others depart from California coast and have a LOT of days at sea. I LIKE days at sea, but not that many! We did the three-day pre-cruise extension in Honolulu. We paid extra for an ocean view room at the Hilton, and it was worth every penny. We could see the beach and could enjoy the music from a beach-front venue ...
Ship was good and timely in reaching every destination. Cabin was serviced regularly. We stayed in 10118 (family balcony). The size of the cabin was relatively small for me, my wife and 2 kids (10 and 6), Restaurant had good food. Decent choice of food even for being an vegetarian (food) but would like for additional options. Service in the restaurant and bars was awesome and both embarkation and ...
This is cruise 18 with Oceania on all ships but Serena. I am not sure if i have been unlucky but the service level was less than “normal”. For example at the Sunday brunch my wife and i finished before any staff member asked us if we wanted water, juice or anything else except cocktails. At dinner in the dining room the opposite, cant find a drink waiter and have to ask. It seems there is a staff ...
This was my first cruise with HAL after cruising Celebrity for my last 5 cruises. I chose the cruise for the itinerary- I have always wanted to go to Hawaii and the idea of so many sea days was very attractive.
Embarkation in San Diego went smoothly- I arrived at the port around 10:30 and was on the ship by noon. I appreciated being able to go directly to my cabin to drop off my carry-ons ...
We enjoyed our trip to the various islands. Disappointed that we did not get to see the Na Pali Coast; they did give us each $100 for on ship credit. The food was good, I was hoping for a variety of horderves to try. The coffee in the Gold Rush lounge was always barely warm. The staff was very nice and helpful. Laundry service was more expensive than other cruise lines but they did do a good ...
We decided to take this cruise solely because of its itinerary. Overnight in Maui, and Kuaui and two days on the Big Island. We arrived in Honolulu two days before the cruise and were picked up by Dang's Limo-a awesome limo service. We were taken to Hilton Hawaiian Village which I booked through NCL. LONG check in line. I chose to book hotel with NCL for the convenience of them picking our ...
My first time to Hawaii and I wanted to see the islands without checking in and out of hotels, lugging my luggage around, transporting to and from airports and wasting all that time! This cruise was the perfect solution! ! Fly into Honolulu - and I suggest staying a day or two before or after - then embarking the ship for the next 7 days taking us to 3 other islands and back to Honolulu. ...
I have never done a cruise before. I don't know that I ever will again. I went on this cruise to accompany my 86 year old father and spend some times with friends from Australia. We had a mid-ship cabin with a full view balcony that had a bit of rust. There was plenty of closet space and ample room under the bed. I don't know if this is normal, but the shower was extremely small, making it ...
