This cruise was a once in a lifetime experience. I read the reviews online. The excursions seemed exciting. The ship looked beautiful. Our connections were great. Our agent from NCL lined everything up perfectly. Our hotel in Waikiki was more than we expected. It was Oceanview and lovely. We had time to explore the beach area. What a wonderful start!

We chose the cruise because it is the only game in town if you want a Hawaiian cruise. The price seemed reasonable....until you find out the EVERYTHING is an extra cost. And overpriced. Service was spotty, with a few rare exceptions of competent, pleasant staff. Two weeks ago a friend and I traveled on the Pride of America around Hawaii. I had very low expectations of the cruise, but it was better than I expected, because of the specialty restaurants and the shore excursions. I thought the cruise was expensive for what you got, but it is the only cruise around Hawaii, so we had to book it.

The itinerary is exceptional.

The itinerary appealed to me and the time of year was perfect. I was led to believe that Cunard were an upmarket company but several things were not up to standard. We scheduled this cruise because it gave us six days on four islands (with an overnight in Honolulu) which seemed to balance out the sea days. It also included a night passing of Kilauea with the spectacular sight of lava entering the sea the highlight of the cruise for me.
