We traveled the Western Galápagos Islands with 26 other highly educated and well traveled guests. Most people were pretty fit seniors with one 12 year old and five under 35. The two Ecuadorian-naturalists, Gustavo and Alex, and doctor, Isaac, on board were outstanding. The 15 other staff members lead by Cruise Director, Steve, did equally well at their multiple tasks. The cruise had a nice ...
The Lindblad/National Geographic team on the boat was superb. The 7 naturalists (all certified by the Galapagos Nationa Park) were incredibly well trained and knowledgeable the wildlife, the ecosystems, and local history and culture. Two of them also served as photography advisors and videographers. All of the passengers were encouraged to share some of their best shots and the videographer ...
If you're looking at the Galapagos then you understand you are paying for access to one of the most remote and extraordinary places in the world. The Xpedition is NOT a high-end luxury cruise ship - it is an EXPEDITION class ship, so understand the difference and manage your expectations. It is however all-inclusive, extremely comfortable and has a crew that is phenomenal.
Having just ...
Just back from a wonderful week in the Galapagos Islands aboard La Pinta. It was a wonderful trip. The ship is perfect sized - large enough to accommodate more passengers (most ships this size do) but they keep it feeling small and intimate. The cabins were much bigger than I (as a first time cruiser) expected and were very comfortable. The common spaces were generous and there were three ...
I have always thought one day I would take off from my job long enough to go see the blue footed booby... Well years later almost 30 + cruises in on celebrity and WHALAH! I did it. Last Dec 2016 was the best vacation of my existence on thios planet. Each and evey component was superb. There was one complaint. Christmas eve the tree fell down and rolled down the hall.. balls and all. Noone was ...
Cabin-roomy and rich, with dark wood paneling and granite counters in the bath. Clean. A/C is quirky and I wouldn't trust that it works in summertime. Not enough closet space.
Common areas-Nicely done parlor with A/V, hot tub on deck is great but too small for the size of boat, sun loungers available
Food-Mostly good. A bit overdone at times, and quantity was laughable of some dishes ...
Dear jonchaley,
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback with us regarding your recent journey aboard our vessel. We're pleased to hear that you found your cabin to be roomy, richly...
I always wanted to see the Galapagos and all its wonderful and unique wildlife. Unfortunately, in part by necessity, we acted until retirement to make the trip. The only complaint I had was that I did not do it 20 years earlier because to get the full experience, physical mobility and stamina ware helpful.. That said, this cruise was VERY accommodating to its passengers physical abilities ...
We chose Celebrity Xpedition because of their reputation and experience in the Galapagos. Everything was first-rate (staff, organization, activities, briefings, cabins, etc.) as described by other reviewers of this cruise. Quito city tours before and after the cruise were very worthwhile. When we booked with Celebrity 11 months prior to cruising, we were assured that following a vegan diet would ...
We boarded the ship direct from the airport at Baltra.
The embarkation went on without any problem, it was done well.
The ship ( more like a big catamaran ) is a fit for purpose vessel. Any one joining this voyage must not expect the luxuries of huge cruise liners, the purpose is adventure and fascinating activities. The cabins are self contained, neat, clean and well maintained - ...
In December we took a 8 day cruise aboard the Grace. The trip was organized by Heather, who is so friendly and knowledgeable, what a delight to deal with.
The Grace was a ten. The trip was a ten. The Grace really is the most beautiful yacht on the open seas.
Cabin. we stayed in the lowest deck with port holes instead of windows. No problem, as you only go to your cabin to sleep. Less motion ...
