We booked a penthouse suite and splurged because it came with a butler and the ability to have meals in our room, plus a balcony. Our butler, Samrat, was excellent and if you can afford the cost of a PH room I’d recommend it. Only do not book room 8045. We asked to be changed the minute we got into the room because as Samrat was talking, I couldn’t pay attention due to the scraping noises above ...
Pros:
Loved the ports - beware though tendering at Zakynthos; unless you had a ship tour booked you could wait 3 hours plus to get off (we gave up)
But the ships tours WERE very good and would recommend.
I had the “key” package and loved the little perks (great WiFi!)
Food - excellent food in MDR and service (buffet not so good - food often tepid and dining area itself is dismal ...
I really mean 3.5 as a rating.
We had also been on this ship when we did the Grand Voyage around South America earlier in the year...which met expectations.
Not so much here. Our bathroom smelled for an odour coming from the bathroom. They tried to find the source but could not stop it. So eventually the staff (with one exception) agreed that there was no smell. So when we were ashore we ...
Although I'm a veteran cruiser (more than 19 cruises at this point), this was my first experience on a Star Clippers ship. Sailing on this type of a ship offers a unique cruise experience, and in my opinion has the following pros and cons:
PROS:
• The Star Flyer has a passenger capacity of 170 max, but we had 155 on our sailing with all rooms occupied but one. This low passenger count ...
We have over 130 days travel with SS on various ships and each time and on each ship we have felt ‘special’ and enjoyed every aspect - food, service, entertainment - everything. However, we really struggled to enjoy this cruise. In the Atlantide the food was served luke-warm and on occasions, after long wait. Even then accompanying sauces and butter had to be chased up. The extremely sparse and ...
We have been on 5 Norwegian cruises before but generally on bigger boats. We found the service was great but entertainment lacking. There was rarely a disc jockey or band at the pool for more than 45 minutes during the day. They had a performance at the theatre every night but not a broadway caliber show. There were not comedians there was a couple of solo singers in bars and not too much ...
This was our 6th cruise on NCL and this was our least favorite ship. Our inside room on deck 10 was one of the smallest we have stayed in. The bathroom was so small my knees hit the wall when sitting on the toilet. The bathroom had very low water pressure and the water drained very slowly in the shower. The ATM machine was not working when we needed it. The entertainment was subpar for NCL. ...
Overall the cruise was very well organized. The crew and service staff were top notch, I have no complaints. The food was plentiful, but needs more assortment and diverse cuisine. Mainly Asian cuisine was cooked in various varieties. The cabin was serviced daily and good hygiene was maintained, no complaints. The destinations were great to passed. Enough with the positives.
I had booked a ...
We chose this cruise due to the itinerary featuring ports in Israel, Turkey and Greece. We had sailed on the Norwegian Jade before and had enjoyed our previous experience.
Airport Transfer
We paid for the transit from the airport, due to the fact that we did not have a lot of time between the arrival of our flight and the sailing. The coach bus experience was fine, although the check in ...
I chose this cruise because of the itinerary and because we had sailed with NCL before.
We left Athens and went to Rhodes, Cyprus, Santorini, Kusadasi, Istanbul, Jerusalem, Haifa(Galilee), Pathos, Mykonos, and then back to Athens. We spent 4 days in Athens before the cruise. It was blistering Texas hot while in Athens and on the cruise. We toured Athens, 105 degrees when we went up to the ...
