In this review of our Nile river cruise I provided some travel tips and a day by itinerary review. Travel tips Choose a cruise line that will take care of you from arrival to departure. Cairo is a difficult city to visit on your own. This is not a walking city. You will need to negotiate taxi fares everywhere you go. The airports are also much different than other countries and can be ...

Egyptian history in a nutshell

Review for a Middle East Cruise on Viking Osiris

The Viking Osiris is a great Nile River ship, intimate, new, and designed for this service. Take advantage of all optional trips, especially the hot air balloon at dawn over the Valley of the Kings and the trip to Abu Simbel. The days are long, with little down time, but you cover a lot of history. The boat is relatively informal, no need to dress for dinner, etc., as you may be just coming ...

My wife and I are generally ocean cruise fans, but we took this trip in order to explore the history of Egypt. It's hard to imagine a better itinerary than the one organized by Viking. One of the highlights was Nefertari's tomb. Admission is limited to 100 visitors a day, and on the day we visited over half of those were our fellow passengers. The tour guides (Program Directors in Viking ...

Before I begin my review of this cruise, I want to say that we are Sapphire with NCL. That means that we have spent more than a few days cruising with NCL and have seen many changes over the past few years. We cruised 46-days with NCL in 2023 alone. Where to begin? We booked 2 cruises with NCL for November. The Gem from Istanbul to Athens then a Transatlantic on the Breakaway out of Rome ...

This is a journal of our November 1-16, 2023, “Pyramids & Pharaohs” land/cruise package with Jordan extension on the Viking Osiris. We booked this trip in 2021 with the thought that the COVID-19 pandemic would be over by two years later. It turned out that we were the first Viking sailing that would not require passengers to provide proof of COVID vaccination (although we had received the fall ...

The cruise from Athens to Sydney was split into 3 parts : Athens to Dubai / Dubai to Singapore / Singapore to Sydney. The maximum passenger capacity is approx 2700. The back to back passengers (sailors) totalled 1200 for the 42 days on board. The demographic / average age was 61 yo. Unfortunately despite Virgin Voyages having this information well in advance, the entertainment was aimed at a ...

Resilient Lady is exceptional. The food is outstanding . Truly. The decor is amazing as are the acoustics. The crew were the most amazing I’ve ever encountered. A selection of the worlds brightest and best hospitality stars. Entertainment was varied and even if you didn’t enjoy because it wasn’t your style, you couldn’t fault the quality and diversity. The age profile ( average age ...
