Our cruise was incredible. All the processes of getting on boat, leaving boat was very smooth and little tension. The amount of people on boat to service us was incredible. I believe we had 600 passengers and almost 300 Viking employees. The cleanliness of all areas was terrific. We were lucky as it was early in season and every location we went to, we were only cruise ship (or one other) entering ...
We chose this cruise due to the itinerary, and the cruise line due to having a wonderful experience on a Viking River cruise. The ocean cruise lived up to all expectations, and exceeded them. This was one of the first cruises of the season in that area, and the ship was only at 60 to 70% capacity of passengers. The crew was fantastic, service was top-notch, and all amenities were outstanding. ...
I should put that into perspective. We are not well seasoned cruisers with 20+ cruises. This was our 8th cruise, with the 7 prior cruises on mass-market lines and on large (2000+ pax) ships. This was our first cruise on a small ship (<1000 pax) on a luxury cruise line. We'd been reading about Viking on CC and watching YT videos, so we had a sense of what to expect on the ship. However, ...
We have always heard about Viking and how good a company it is. We are not big cruisers but thoroughly enjoyed this trip. My only, and small, complaint was that on disembarkation and travel to the cruise terminal, we were just directed to go places without an explanation of what we were doing. There is some anxiety involved in travel and not knowing the purpose of our leaving the bus and then ...
We wanted to go to Italy to visit my spouse's ancestral home, so we booked the Italian Sojourn on Viking and included a pre-package that allowed us to go to the village. This trip was while Viking and Italy had strict Covid policies. Viking did everything they could to make us safe and comfortable in dealing with the restrictions during the pre-package, cruise and post-package to Verona and Lake ...
We took this cruise to fulfill a bucket list item. We committed a year prior to the cruise, and planned all the port explorations during that time. Covid was just beginning to lift, so there were many conflicting requirements between the airports, the airlines, the hotel and the cruise company. There were ample cruise staff to help interpret the requirements, and to get us through the ordeal. ...
This was a "just coming out" of Covid cruise, so some this will not apply in other cases. I'll not comment further on the Covid effects other than to say there was some passenger frustration at the lack of shopping time. Usually this was directed at the excursion guide, most whom where directed to secure the group.
We got in late, but a snack and wine were waiting for us, and a full dinner ...
The Greek Odyssey combined visits to historical sites with travel through iconic scenery and beautiful vistas. Excursions were interesting with tour guides providing local perspective to historical as well as current events. Tour buses and tenders were comfortable and conveniently located to minimize excessive walking and climbing. Our cabin was spacious and made more comfortable by polite ...
We chose this cruise because we had heard such great things about Viking. We had been to Greece before on land only, but wanted to delve deeper into Greek and biblical history. This trip did not disappoint! From start to finish, even amid Covid precautions, the entire experience was perfection. From the onboard entertainment to the incredible excursions, it was the trip of a lifetime. We ...
This cruise was originally called: "Cities of Antiquity & The Holy Land" and was renamed merely "Cities of Antiquity" after Israel and Cyprus were removed from the itinerary. We had a wonderful time and saw some truly remarkable sites. The ports of Pompeii, Heraklion, Rhodes, Malta, Turkey, Athens, and Santorini were beautiful and filled with so much history.
