We booked a penthouse suite and splurged because it came with a butler and the ability to have meals in our room, plus a balcony. Our butler, Samrat, was excellent and if you can afford the cost of a PH room I’d recommend it. Only do not book room 8045. We asked to be changed the minute we got into the room because as Samrat was talking, I couldn’t pay attention due to the scraping noises above ...
Loved the itinerary. Nice ship. Decent food but not great and lacking variety. Two lobster nights was really nice.
Included Excursions were disappointing with average to below average guides. Paid excursions had better guides but really poor planning relative to time. Many excursions returned to the ship as buffet was closing. Others did not allow enough time for shopping and enjoying the ...
The cruise from Athens to Sydney was split into 3 parts : Athens to Dubai / Dubai to Singapore / Singapore to Sydney. The maximum passenger capacity is approx 2700. The back to back passengers (sailors) totalled 1200 for the 42 days on board. The demographic / average age was 61 yo. Unfortunately despite Virgin Voyages having this information well in advance, the entertainment was aimed at a ...
Was really excited to be boarding this cruise. My cabin is wonderful. The ensuite is very impressive. Full sized shower. Great for the plus size travellers. All staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. The excursions are very physically demanding. The food is really designed for the American pallet. Spicy or overloaded with sugar. The menu really doesn’t alter in the restaurants. On the plus ...
We just returned from a 26-day TA from Athens to Fort Lauderdale; actually a 12-day Mediterranean to Barcelona and a 14-day transatlantic crossing to FL. HAL sold it as a single 26-day cruise but the second 14-day leg was much cheaper so many got on in Barcelona for TA. Unfortunately the weather prompted the captain to cancel Cadiz and Portugal. We had also lost 2 ports on the 12day segment but, ...
Our first cruise with Oceania after enjoying cruises with Silver Seas, Holland America and Cunard. Food was generally excellent, but speciality restaurants need to be booked well in advance as large groups book in bulk. Buffet was certainly no better than our experiences with lower cost cruise lines. Recently refurbished balcony stateroom was very comfortable with a well designed and relatively ...
Got this cruise for an excellent price a few years earlier. Ship was clean. Bar staff were friendly and chatty.
We've sailed quite a few Med cruises but the itinerary on this cruise had all new ports never been to before so that was a plus point.
Food in buffet and MDR was very good. Better than what I had expected and much better than a Costa cruise I took in April.
So why 3 ...
We are a 70+ couple with over 60 cruises under our belt. We did this cruise mainly because of the ‘best food at sea’ Oceania prides itself. Well, we found that this claim is not much more than just advertising. The food was good, but certainly not at the level of a six star ship. We normally do enjoy dinner in the main dining room, but on this ship the menu was very limited and uninspiring. We ...
There was a very long queue embarking the Epic at Marseilles. I would say 1 hour 40 minutes waiting time. We are Platinum members so we got into the Priority queue but it still took 45 minutes (why do they make you fill out the paperwork online beforehand and submit photographs but insist on doing this again at the port). Such a waste of time. We noticed lots of cutbacks onboard. Not as much ...
To be fair, my wife and i had a fine cruise. We had booked a cruise on MSC Splendida due to the route and we were not disappointed. For October the weather was excellent. It is a pity there is always a time constraint not allowing you to visited all the places you want to, however we knew the route and the timetable.
Best part of the ship is the crew. Friendly and helpful, hard working, making ...
