We were looking for an itinerary that sails from Venice so this was a perfect fit. While exploring the options we found the only cabin available was aft facing balcony and we grabbed it. We reached venice two days before the sailing shaken with the news of floods in venice. We reached during high tide and were advised at the ticket booth to take alilaguna water taxi to reach San Mark Square. San Mark square was flooded (the water was just below knee length) and our hotel was just behind the square. We had to buy disposable rain shoes (10 euros each) and hire a porter (for 30 euros) for the laguage. We we were all settled by evening. Water had receded and venice was more beautiful. We had a stroll on the square and the waterfront. Had an amazing seafood pizza at Leoncini. Next morning we had walking tour of venice, Basilica de san marco and Doge's Palace. Afternoon there was gondola ride. Evening we took a one and half hour ride on vaporetto line 2. It covered grand canal even better than gondola and also gave us a glimpse of the harbour. Next morning we arrived at venice harbour. The check in process was smooth and quick. Cabin/ stateroom: We were in aft facing balcony room no. 7656. It was spacious stateroom with huge balcony. The attendant Daisy was helpful. Dining: Windjammer cafe the buffet restaurant had variety of food. However, we felt that they close it very early (around 10 pm) and start winding up much before that. Fine Dining Edelweiss Fine Dining restaurant had good Indian menu and the captain Paras served us well. Embarkation was smooth and hustle free. On-board activities were ok. They showed some good movies on the big screen every evening but it was too cold to sit outside. We took the shore excursions from Royal caribbean. We loved Melissani (Argostoli) and Lipa (Montenegro) Caves. Many activities and restaurants were closed due to off season. Disembarkation was very smooth and we got off at our convenient time. The locations is why we picked this cruise. There was alot we liked and some we did not. The ship is old and worn It is small.. We had a Junior Suite with a balcony. Embarkation and disembarkation went very well. We bought deluxe dining and beverage packages. We did not do any excursions we explored on our own. That was wonderful. We walked allover and loved it. We visited Mykonos, Argostoli, Corfu and Athens. We ate in all of the specialty restaurants and they were good. The beverage was definitely worth it. All of the bottled water soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. Definitely way to go. Entertainment was great.Illusionist Raven was amazing!!! Great show. sit up close. Band called Elements were amazing!! The staff were awesome!! Everyone super nice and attentive. Monica at the Schooner Bar always remembered us!! Great!! Sheila from Chop House was super helpful and nice!! The medical staff took care of a minor health issue superbly. The hair stylist was amazing although the spa manager was horrible. He brought it down from 5 star to 4. I did tell the guest services and not sure anything ever came of it. Avoid him and get the stylist services are worth it. I cannot remember her name but she is the best. Great cruise minus that one staff member. The locations were great. Seven day cruise out of Venice. We stayed a couple days before the cruise. That was awesome!! I recommend the cruise because of the ports but be ready for an old and small ship. Read Less

Cruised NCL 7 times in last 7 years. 1st European cruise. Amazing excursions everyday. Fantastic service at the restaurants. Disappointed with the lack of entertainment/bars that I’m used to on the bigger ships of NCL. What makes NCL so great are the specialty restaurants and the entertainment on the ship. Howl at the moon, blues bar, Broadway type shows were sorely missed on this cruise. The service at the restaurants could not have been better. We are at the main dining room one night ((we purchased 8 specialty dinner for 2) and we were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. The staff did a tremendous job with all of the excursion planning each morning and each destination had a lot to offer. We had terrific guides on each visit too. We are very excited the the Epic will be coming to Europe soon. I have been on this ship twice already and it’s one of my favorites. Read Less

We took cruise for Anniversary with our elderly mothers. It was our first time on Norwegian cruise. We usually book Royal Caribbean. We chose this particular ship for the very appealing itinerary. The ship was satisfactory. Food was good. We were able to upgrade to balcony which is a bonus for Mediterranean cruise. The sunrises were spectacular. Service and cleanliness of cabin was exceptional. On board activities were not appealing but if you just want to relax, read or sleep would be perfect. We would have appreciated in cabin movie options and not having $7.95 room service charges. Did not like general movie theatre area.it was not comfortable. Theatre/movie needs upgrade and theatre style seating. Bed was not comfortable. The port excursions were comprehensive and we enjoyed all of them. The time between each course during dinner took too long at Windows and Garden. Overall, we were satisfied with our experience. It was definitely a destination cruise. Careful planning and preparation should be considered for anyone with disabilities or physical challenges specifically for excursions. Read Less

Our first cruise. Cabin was comfortable, albeit shower a bit small. Will definitely book a balcony cabin in future, just to have that outside private space for a coffee in the mornings and to relax with a book watching the world sail by. Mainly used the buffet for meals, as this suited us more due to itinerary and having a teenage son. only ate lunch and evening meal once in the main dining rooms. The meals in both the buffet and main dining room offered plenty of choice, were freshly prepared and were all really edible. Staff were friendly and helpful, although occasionally appeared rushed, especially around the pool bar - this is the only area were we felt the customer service was a little lacking. Saw 2 shows and both were entertaining. Casino was worth the occasional flutter although sadly no wins. Two further cruises booked, one with MSC and the other with Cunard. Read Less

#6 We just returned from our cruise aboard NCL Spirit. We chose this cruise for port destinations such as Crostia, Slovenia, Greece and Malta. We stayed in Balcony Cabin 11662 and we were very happy with this location. We enjoyed the close proximity and easy access to the rear decks and often had breakfast there. We were apprehensive after reading reviews but didn't have any troubles with noise or other issues. We enjoy smaller ships with less crowds and easier to get around. Each cruise ship has pros and cons and there were many items on the plus side. We found the staff helpful and friendly overall. Some dining staff were not quite as professional but that could just be individual situations. The cabins are compact but fine for two. It's an older ship but public areas have been nicely updated. We weren't looking for problems so didn't seem to encounter them. Overall the food was good with enough variety to suit most. Some of the shows were outstanding. We would not hesitate to suggest this cruise. Read Less

Firstly about the cruise line: This was the first time we used this cruise line and had high expectations considering our experience with HAL (Holland America Line) 2 years ago. So like last time we did not book direct but through an travel agent in a packaged tour/cruise deal. With the package it was 2 cruises back to back and thankfully we could retain the same cabin for both cruises. So travelling as a middle-aged but very active couple seeking to explore the Mediterranean for the first time. So like other cruise lines, we got email notification from NCL that we could log on and personalise our experience. Their system is easy to use and worked well. They also have an on-board app called ‘I Concierge’ which is linked to your account and uses the ship’s Wi-Fi system (for free) but you create your log on via your name and birthdate. It does work extremely well and allows you to look at your account and book experiences (packages such as spa, specialty dining etc.) but the system has a flaw which we heard from a couple of passengers whose birthday is 29th February (leap day) as the system does not recognise this date (poor programming from the designers of the app) so they could not create their log on and had to use the manual system of bookings and print outs of their accounts, a little disappointing for those technically inclined. When you board the ship you are issued with a cruise card that is linked to your account, identifies you as a passenger and unlocks your cabin door. Good security system and works very well. Equally the disembarkation worked wonderfully (we chose the walk off option which gave us more time and flexibility to be packed and off by 9am deadline). Also the day at port for the changeover between the 2 cruises was very well managed and stress free. As part of our package we were offered the choice of 2 of the 5 ‘Free at Sea’ deals. We chose the shore excursion credit and the unlimited beverage package (UBP). Bear In mind that all passengers travelling together in the same cabin have to have the same choices, which is understandable and prevents sharing of benefits. Here is how they worked; the UBP is linked to your cruise card and allows you unlimited number of alcoholic beverages to the value of USD$15 per glass, so this covers quite a few beers, wines, spirits and cocktails (with the average cost of a beer being USD$8 and wines USD$10, it is an effective package and well worth considering depending on how much you drink); shore credit is a little more tricky. So with shore credit, firstly it is applied as a USD$50 credit to your on board account and is given at the completion of your booked shore excursion at each port. Here’s the thing, it is only applied to cabin account once per port irrespective if more than one excursion is booked and if you are overnighting in a port it will not apply to a second day’s excursion booked if you had done an excursion the previous day. So one credit per port only (however it does change on other cruises where you spend multiple days in a port but you have to check that out with them prior to booking to see if that exception applies). If you book your excursions after you board, the USD$50 credits will be deducted from your tours on you onboard account so in effect you get a discount for your excursions. However, if you book online or by phone prior to booking, these credits will be applied not to the tours but your overall on-board account for your other purchases so if you don’t spend extra you will lose that credit as it will not come off the total bill, to get the value, you will need to spend the equivalent amount in specialty dining, internet, drinks, spa etc whilst on board. They will not refund any unused portion of the credit at the end of the cruise. This is something you need to be fully aware of if you choose this package. Having said that, we waited to book until we boarded and were not disadvantaged in any way, managed to get on every excursion we had requested. Pre-Cruise stay: We stayed in Rome for 2 nights as part of our package and had a wonderful time exploring the city and some of the big iconic sites. We opted to stay in the centre of the city which gave us great access to all the city has to offer and public transport should we need it (which we really didn't as we could walk everywhere easily). NORWEGIAN SPIRT So about the ship, it is the smallest of this cruise line, holding 2000 passengers. It is not the smallest we have seen so consider it mid-sized. The cabins are a tad smaller than the bigger ships but still comfortable. The ship is well maintained, nicely appointed and the staff are extremely helpful. Boarding – efficient and no hassles and extremely well managed. Theatre /Shows – good theatre but the seating is a little tricky as the rows are too close together so trying to sit down with the seat needing to be flipped down can be difficult as the seat rubs on the back of your legs but once you are seated it is comfortable enough. As for the shows, some are fantastic others not quite so. Bars – there are a number of them on-board and all are lovely, lots of seating, good views, ultra clean and have good service from the staff. Different events are hosted in the various bars so quite and noisy times but you can always find something to suit your style. Dining – Specialty restaurants, bars, buffet bistros and main dining options. The buffet bistro is always busy and can like all buffet venues have big queues, just need to pick your moment. The evening meals are theme based and add variety. It is included in your fare so no extra expense. The main dining rooms (Windows and the Garden Room) have the same menus with full sit down service (no lining up). Good menu with delicious food, just lacking in vegetable content which us Aussies are used to and desire. After the first cruise, the menu was repeated so that was a bit of a disappointment. We did not do the specialty restaurants but feedback from fellow passengers that they really enjoyed their meals. Allergies – if you have a food allergy let the waiter know (if you haven’t already), they have allocated a specialist waiter to help you with your orders. Here is how it works; you will be encouraged to pre-order your meal for the next evening so the chefs have a chance to prepare your meal without the offending allergens. That’s fine but it does lock you into a specific restaurant. As I have an unusual allergy it confused them somewhat and I had to explain and sometimes stand my ground about my choices. “But madam, that meal has portions that are not made on-board so we can’t guarantee it is allergen free” and my response “I have decades of experience at working out what foods are likely or unlikely to have that spice, I know this meal option will be safe for me to eat”. This system only works for the restaurants not the buffet or cafés. I much prefer to ask if the meal contains the specific spice than be locked into a pre-ordered meal. Cabins – we had 9182 allocated to us and it was not the best choice. The cabin was aft and directly above the theatre, below the kids club rooms and opposite the hotel storeroom. So a very noisy cabin at times. We heard all the shows, some louder than others….groan. The kids had active play at night and sounded like elephants playing soccer with lots of thumps, bumps, loud sharp bangs, yelling and general boisterous play. This went on late into the night and we had to have a polite word with the staff in that area about it. They agreed to cease the active play at 9:30pm so we considered that fair and reasonable. However, it took quite a bit of discussion and investigation to resolve the noises coming from there between 1 and 2am every night. Worked out it was the cleaners, not sure if they were playing with the equipment while doing their job or just jolly noisy but either way the noise abated and we were given chocolate-coated strawberries and a bottle of red wine as an apology. Nice touch, but we just wanted to have uninterrupted sleep. The situation was handled well by staff but the problem is the lack of insulation in the floor/ceiling space, so ultimately a design flaw. We had heard that others below the pub had even worse noise issues. Apart from the issues above, the cabins are snug but well laid out and comfortable. Storage space needs a little redesign, much prefer shelves than drawers but that is a preference and my side of the bed did not have a shelf. The cabins are well maintained and if you are able to choose your cabin wisely, all should be fine. Shore Excursions: They range in price and quality but mostly very good, it really is port dependant as some ports are just better explored on foot by yourselves. Naturally the big iconic places like Athens, Venice, Santorini, etc are just amazing. Again, I urge you to do your homework about the ports, google them, look at specific forums and use the features that google maps can provided so you get a better understanding of the place and the logistics for self exploration and scheduled excursions. Ports: Some ports were not much to explore and docking a little far out to walk to the city but mostly good ports and easy access. In 2 ports there was an additional cost to shuttle to the city from the ship if you were not on a book excursion. That is a little disappointing but it is what it is. Several ports were simply stunning in terms of visual appeal (hello Venice, Malta for example) and easy free access to either just walk off, water shuttle service or shuttle bus. Kids Activities: Although we did have children with us, they seem well catered for and security surrounding their care was very well handled. Kids would love this ship. CRUISE WITH NCL AGAIN? That’s the question. We are not adverse to using them again but they are not our first preference. These cruises are designed to capture the party animal and families and we are not that way inclined. So it would depend on the ports, after all that is what cruising internationally is all about, at least for us. Be aware that the cost of the cruise does not include the shore excursions so you could effectively double the cost depending on your choices. Do your homework before you decide as you don’t have to book through them but it is easier to do so and there is a variety of tours for all budgets. For us, we will be cruising on HAL again later next year as part of another land/cruise tour package so we will make a report on that and a better comparison but we are considering another line altogether for a another trip. More on that if and when it becomes a definite trip. Ocean cruising is totally different from river cruises and you need to be aware of that. So our advice is look at the ports and how long each port stay lasts then compare the ships that do the cruises. Read Less

We sailed on Spirit on a Mediterranean Cruise 2 years ago, loved it so much had to do it again. We weren’t disappointed....in the itinerary or th majority of the staff onboard. We tried 3 different specialty restaurants this time, all were incredible- especially Le Bistro and Cagneys. The weather wasn’t always on our side but it held off during the day for excursions which was great. The activities staff were good, they had a tough crowd...not a lot of people wanting to join in on activities but it was still good. The only concern I had, and still have, there was a young couple at karaoke one evening. The young lady got up to sing, was doing a beautiful job when an older man cane up beside her and put his arm around her. At first we thought he was joining her to sing then quickly realized he was being VERY INAPPROPRIATE and was grabbing her butt. When she pushed him away he quickly ran from the room. Shortly after I saw someone come in and go over to the other side...I walked up to the “stage area” and sat down to look around and realized the man had come back to the room. I immediately went out the door to the bar staff and asked them to call security and I knew that not only was the couple upset but witnesses to the event were also and I was concerned there’d be some sort of encounter. Security came, took statements and pr used to check in with the couple in the morning and speak with witnesses again the next day. A little while later the young woman was approached by the “older mans wife” and others who started giving the young lady a hard time because she had reported her husband...and that this type of behaviour is normal and ok in their country. The young lady asked for security to come back and ensure she’d be safe. Unfortunately non of us heard from security for days and we eventually went to senior officers to get some answers. All the victim wanted was an assurance that the area was being monitored and she was safe, but they couldn’t even take the time to do that. As platinum members we were shocked. We offered up a dining coupon and wine to the couple so they could enjoy a peaceful evening together which they thanked us for. This couple say they will likely never cruise again...sad...we love cruising and we love Norwegian. I don’t think security handled this as professionally and discreetly as they could have. I’ve left a lot out but this gives you an idea of what had transpired. I for one will never try karaoke , knowing know how situations are handled. Read Less

The itinerary was the main draw for me. That is why I was so disappointed the we missed Rhodes. I realize w a man overboard situation compromises are necessary , but offering a second tour AT NIGHT with nothing opened an limited lighting was not really adequate ( and they threw in a dinner at a Rhodes restaurant for more than the original tour) Obviously it was done to fulfil the obligation of going to Rhodes so guests could not complain and ask for compensation. I was not really that impressed w the main dining room OPUS. The staff r great work very hard the food was good but not great, after I'd heard so many raves for Celebrity's food -disappointed. Only 2- 3 dinners were really notable the rest were adequate or on one night really subpar. The Oceanview cafe often was as good or better. The entertainment was pretty good. The dancers/acrobats are very talented and do an excellent job w the space and choreography they have been given. The singers also shine particularly in a substitute show they put on as the comic that was supposed to perform was stuck on Rhodes. Particularly enjoyed the song selection, not your typical Broadway medley. They need to plan more for alternate activities when a situation occurs that prevents the itinerary being fulfilled. Loved the Persian Garden- took the trip duration pass and used it almost daily The sauna's and cold room and that relaxing heated tile bench. The tours we organized ourselves were at least as good and on 2 occasions ( Pompei and the Acropolis better) Would not go again as I would prefer more in depth exploration next time I go, but got a distinct taste for what would interest me Read Less

You know, the thing is that we have been floating on this ship for over 3 weeks now.. with the best Captain, the best staff, pretty good food, an nice suite on the 12 th floor. Love it.. but...but.. there is just one big thing that gnaws on me daily. The Guy in charge of movies, sports etc. on tv. So get this, 70% or more of the 3000 cruisers are from US. It is the middle of the football season. They have espn 1 & 2 and... and an extra sports channel. Today is Saturday 3rd of November , and it is no different than last Saturday or the sat. prior. ESPN Showing the Michigan game, ESPN 2 showing Crickett, extra sports channel showing another soccer game from Europe, as if the 3 other European channels is not enough. I complained, and the guy in charge said he just got in from India ( thus, Crickett.?) and said he would work on it. Nothing. Same guy in charge of movies. There are 5 movies available free on demand, and guess what he plays in the movies downstairs, either cartoons or any of the 5 above. So it’s all about us buying old..on demand... movies at 15 bucks that are free at home on HBO. What I’m saying here is that the entertainment via TV is old, stale as the 10 year old tv resolution. Charge me more in my ticket, but serve me something in a new, clear medium. Outside of this, the ship is good. Even our Indian Head Chef. I do question if there really is a Tandoori oven, oh, but I digress..Like it ...as a good upper middle cruise option. Recommendation......get an American in charge of video.. when you do a rehab..buy some modern flat screens. So, childish as we sports fans are, and not that I am glued to the TV more than 6 hours per week, just want to point out this one small, to most, an insignificant side note. However, this is enough to drop the rating. You know, it’s the little things, etc. Like I said, Suite is great, Imade, our cabin steward was meticulous, always on the job. Got us a fan for the suite. It is obvious that all these cruise lines use specialty dining, as added revenue. We pay for cruise but they charge us 100 bucks plus service charge just to have dinner at Murano’s for example. Alcohol is extra. The Master ( infamous Captain) is the best. Gives feeling of safety with a flair of a stand up comic. A French Chef would have been desirable. Not a big fan of pseudo tandoori cooked Indian Cuisine. No garlic nan bread for instance. How about a specialty Indian restaurant? Park the master chef there. Read Less

Let's start with the positives: Cabin clean and attendant excellent Dining room staff terrific attentive and great range of food found no need to eat at additional charges restaurants Pool area no problem in finding seating. Ports of call -great itinery and easy to master on your own Both embarkation and disembarkation simple The negatives: Celebrity appear to be saving money with their shows! There are no Broadway musicals but rather it seems they have written their own story. Eg prince meets princess etc. No plot to follow just random often unknown songs! At sea days had minimal activities. The decision to show the one and only movie at 11 pm was ridiculous. Focus seemed to be on money with charges on many activities . In summary have seen a decline in the cruise experience and will definitely look at other companies for our next trip. As you can see lots of positives but also negatives which need to be addressed. We were quite worried after reading previous reviews , however it turned out to be a very good cruise. Firstly the cons ( not many ) . As so many other reviews have highlighted they need more bar/wait staff in atrium/live room bars between 6-11pm this was the only negative review of service . ( PLEASE LISTEN MARELLA !!!! would have been 5 stars but for this !!!). Also the only other fault was that we felt some of the meat products ie burgers, cooked meats needed to be of a higher standard ( Think microwave burgers ! ). The pros , great flight and super transfer , embarcation all very well organised . The most friendly welcome ever ( previous ncl + celebrity cruise nowhere near as good in this respect). Virtually all the crew including officers very friendly ( one exception a surly barman in atrium bar ).Cabin cleaned very well by paul and charlie , lots of space and a comfortable bed.Food was generally very good and never waited long to be seated. Always managed to find a seat in islands. Something for everyone regards entertainment re dancing , bingo ,quizes , etc ( your never going to please everyone all the time as the ships passengers are a cross section of British society ).Fantastic itinery and some fairly priced excursions ( adriatic ). We thought this would be a one off cruise with marella but will now definatly book again. Go with a smile on your face and enjoy. Read Less

In October 208, my husband and I experienced our first European cruise with the Norwegian Spirit, Leaving the Civitavecchia Seaport, we began our ten day journey of the Greek Isles, Malta, Sicily and Naples. We booked eight excursions through the ship because the ship will wait for your return if the excursion is a ship sponsored excursion. The ship itself was renovated and modernized in 2017. We had an ocean view, Room 9501, that was clean with comfortable beds. The guests on board were primarily American with the remainder mostly being other native English speakers. The theater on board offered a different show each evening, which is not the case in the Caribbean on the Norwegian cruise ships, and the entertainment was very good. We dined mostly in the dinning room because my husband has a gluten allergy and there is less of a chance of cross contamination in this venue. The food was varied and delicious and the service was good. We would do this cruise again but both of us think that the day at sea would be better to have at the end of the voyage allowing the guests a day of rest before returning. Read Less

We chose this cruise for its great itinerary. I was a little wary of the ship because of some reviews I read, but I found the ship immaculate and very well maintained (our bathroom needed a little maintenance) and the staff was very nice. The captain had a good sense of humor and got us to Malta, which I understand is a stop that is at times bypassed because of the winds. I would have given the cruise 5 stars, but the food was a little disappointing, the internet was problematic, as well as some of the entertainment. Our last two cruises were on Holland America, and the food was superior to the one on this cruise. The major complaint (as has been stated previously in other reviews) is that some dishes are just too salty. Also, we don't eat meat and the fish dishes were so so, and there were not enough vegetarian main dishes. We only ate at the free venues. Breakfast was good. Included internet was slow and we had to upgrade to the unlimited internet, which was pricey, although the value of the free program was deducted from the total cost. Entertainment was variable and some was very loud. The Italian opera singer was excellent. We took the ship excursions in every port. On the whole they were good but some were pricey. The last excursion in Naples, which included Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri, would have been much nicer if there had been 2 or 3 tour groups instead of one. It was just way too large. The guide spent too much time counting us and it took away from what should have been one of the highlights of the trip. Our favorite stop was Rhodes - we had a fantastic guide (Tour: "Highlights of Rhodes") and beautiful weather, and free time to wander in the old city and then a very short walk back to the ship. Where NCL really shines is in its organization for embarkation and disembarkation and everything in between. I've never been able to get on or off a ship so quickly and easily. The people in Guest Svcs and Shore Excursions and Tour Director were also nice and efficient. Overall, I would recommend the cruise if you choose a cruise based on its itinerary. We got to see and learn a lot and overall had a wonderful time. Read Less

We tried the majesty last year and were so impressed we decided to do the next one up ie the celebration. We had a large delux cabin which we had booked however we were given a queen bed instead of twin beds as originally requested. That being said the bed was extremely comfy and Ahmad, who looked after our cabin kept it spotlessly clean and the towel “art” each night was great. I hope the next cruise we go on we might get lucky and have Ahmad look after us again! Unfortunately on this cruise the ship appeared to be full to capacity and it was difficult finding seats in the different bars. Also when we wanted to sit and read say in the Hemingway’s bar it was most difficult. We did try the Broadway lounge which was always empty during the day but sadly it was really cold so couldn’t sit and read. The staff were lovely always accommodating nothing was too much trouble for them. The food which was aplenty, was tasty. The pianist Ben was good as was the guitarist. We watched the shows too in the Broadway lounge which were very good I particularly liked the Philip Marlowe production. The comedian they had on was also funny and went down well. An enjoyable cruise although the Celebration is looking tired and needs some TLC. Read Less

Chose this primarily because of the time in Israel and Greece. Celebrity have chosen to put an outside movie theatre at the rear of the ship on deck 12 (More of a "terrace than a deck really) which has a negative impact on all the rear- facing 11th floor cabins, especially 1140. Israel was not as good as I had hoped - the crowds are really bad - and we went when things were "quiet". By really bad I mean I have never been that close to anyone with my clothes still on before - and hope never to do so again. Really liked Haifa/Acre though. Pompeii (Naples) was the highlight of the trip for me. Many of the shore excursions seemed "rushed" - we only went on Celebrity excursions, and we were being constantly hassled to move without adequate time to look around or soak in the experience. Entertainment was the typical lackluster/tired experience one expects from Celebrity, the only exception being Jayne Curry who has a powerful voice and stage presence. The itinerary was great - so good we may do it again, but next time I would go on private excursions as did a lot of others on our cruise... Read Less

Thoroughly enjoyed this cruise on Jewel. Ports included Valletta, Sanotini & Athens. All new stops to us which was great. Highlight of the cruise was pre-dinner drinks in the Scooner bar each evening chatting with the bar stewards and other guests. This was followed by an excellent dinner each evening in Tides which was greatly enhanced by our table companions Beth & Mark and our waiters Surachai and Deevesh on table 491. The waiters were extremely welcoming, very professional, knowledgeable about the food and the wine and really good fun. Thanks guys for 9 amazing meals. We had a balcony stateroom on deck 9 which was lovely. Very clean and comfortable as usual. We enjoyed spending time on the balcony as we cruised in to and out of the ports. Valletta, Malta was particularly stunning. Really enjoyed our trip to the Acropolis in Athens through RCI. Loved Jewel, love cruising and love Royal Caribbean. Can’t wait to go again. Read Less

Have tried all the other marella ships. So decided on discovery 2 to cruise with friends. Never had a balcony cabin before . Would not pay for another one as didn't use it. Our cabin was just above the atrium so noisy if you wanted a nap or early night. Entertainment was just ok. Too much daytime entertainment slots were filled with spa demonstrations which are always too overpriced. The comedian Terry Cotta was very good. The 4 tunes group were very good the banda certa group not so good. Food and drink good. Cabin kept clean by Benji. Reception staff were polite. Entertainment staff friendly. Long wait for waiters to serve you they always seemed to look the other way except for Sherene a lovely girl from Jamaica and Philip or tinkerbell as we called him always on the go and so cheery. Standard have dropped in mdr, stains on tablecloths dirty cups and twice I saw young waiters just using the glass table number stand to brush crumbs on the floor. I think more training by older experienced staff is needed. Food is good but long wait for it to be served. More waiting on staff are needed in the dining rooms. I always come back from cruise with a chest infection I put it down to air con either in cabin or on flight. Would not cruise from Corfu airport again. Long queues outside airport then another to check in then another to put your case through then another for security. If you want to use special assistance you are put on last on the plane. Special praise goes to the woman captain on the flight for her persistence in trying to land our plane in strong winds . Well done. Read Less

We wanted to experience Azamara for the first time and we also liked the itinerary which coincided with our anniversary and an opportunity to visit Venice again. Sailing out and back into Venice was an absolutely wonderful experience, to be recommended. We enjoyed all of the stops and it was a great advantage to dock close to the ports in most cases. I gave an average rating for the excursions as we couldn't say "not applicable." We thought the excursions were rather expensive and found that we could happily do our own thing in port and there was a lot to see at each stop. We have sailed on Silversea and Viking so are surprised to see people who criticise the food. The ship's food is excellent and no complaints about this. The staff are also excellent and everyone greets you each morning and are polite and friendly. We did not bother with some of the entertainment on offer as it did not appeal but we thought that the Lectures on the ports were excellent, as well as the amazing Opera Singer. Very impressed with the Amazing Evening it was spectacular, couldn't fault it and it made us feel special. We would definitely take another Azamara cruise and can recommend it to other cruisers. We chose this cruise because of itinerary, price and previous experience on Azamara Journey. We flew to Athens where we had an overnight stay in the Sofitel hotel at Athens airport. After breakfast next day we returned to the airport to get our private transfer to the port of Piraeus. The taxi dropped us off at the cruise terminal where we were swiftly checked in but because we were early, we had to wait approximately 30 minutes before we could embark (Azamara provided coffee and soft drinks in the meantime). Cabin We had an obstructed view cabin on deck 6 which we were quite happy with. We had plenty storage and although the shower is tiny, we knew this from past experience. Our cabin stewards kept the room clean and tidy. Dining We always had breakfast and lunch in Windows cafe and we thought the standard of food was quite good with plenty of choice for everyone. We do think that there is room for improvement with the service as sometimes it wasn't up to standard. We didn't use any of the speciality restaurants and had our dinner in Discoveries. We were satisfied with the standard and choice of food there and also the service. Drinks We encountered difficulty on a few occasions when we tried to order cocktails using the complimentary spirits. On one occasion I was told I would have to pay for an American Mule cocktail because Ginger beer was not included in the complimentary drinks. Ginger beer is a soft drink the same as Coke or Sprite etc!! I asked for it in a different bar on a different day and got it with no problem with the included spirits. I think some of the staff need more training with regard to the complimentary drinks package. The cocktail menu should be much clearer and list the ingredients of all cocktails and not just the ones that cost extra. Entertainment We enjoyed most of the shows in the theatre but felt that the Three Aces band in the Living Room lacked variety. We really enjoyed the Greek dancers that came on to the ship and entertained us when we were in Rhodes. The Azamazing evening in Dubrovnik was spectacular (apart from tendering back to the ship afterwards). Ports and excursions We enjoyed all of the ports apart from Igoumenitsa which was very disappointing. It is clearly just a ferry hub and not a cruise destination. I can't understand why Azamara chose this port when we were so close to Corfu which would have been a much better option. At the start of the cruise our first port destination (Spetses) was changed because of bad weather but this was understandable and no fault of Azamara. We didn't do any of Azamara's excursions as we think they are grossly overpriced and prefer to do our own thing. We would probably cruise with Azamara again, even although there were some issues, as we do like their smaller, friendlier ships and itineraries. Read Less

This was our first cruise on Azamara since we mostly sail on Celebrity and Princess. We love the smaller ship and the fact that there weren't many children on board (I only saw one). We wanted to go more upscale and chose this cruise for the itinerary (Venice-Croatia-Montenegro-Slovenia-Venice). I'd say this cruise was very good but not amazing. Here are my pros and cons: Pros - Windows Buffet - loved the fresh squeezed orange juice for breakfast and the full salad bar at lunch and dinners. My favorites were the carved roasted turkey which was so tender and delicious, lentils, salad bar, smoked salmon and mackerel for breakfast, and their Indian dishes (which unfortunately were too few). - Discoveries Restaurant was very nice with freshly prepared cuisine (we liked this better than their specialty restaurants which charged a fee). - Service at all restaurants was good though some servers were much better than others. - The ship was usually able to dock at ports or very close to it with a short tender. - Embarkation/disembarkation at ports ran very smoothly with little or no waiting time. - Love how they provide guests with bottled water 24/7. - Having an overnight in Venice was brilliant. - Azamazing evening in Slovenia was magical. - White Nights dinner was great despite the stormy weather. Cons - Most of the main entrees seemed to be dry and overcooked. - Asian cuisine wasn't very good. - Prime C was a letdown - the steak was meh and their onion soup was dismal. - The restaurant aft windows in Prime C were dirty. - Our shower was so small - a few turns and you'd bump into the wall. Plus the shower curtain would keep touching you all the time. The bottom walls of the shower looked like they've been peeled and fixed but it looks cheap and worn. Although we were expecting more, we enjoyed the smaller size of this ship and will cruise again if the itinerary is right for us. Read Less

Been on the Quest twice 2016 so was looking forward to sail on this " New" ship. Don't know where the other reviewer's comments about aloof crew came about but I found them all extremely friendly and approachable and all the wait staff eager to please. It must be difficult to staff up a new ship and mould them into the Azamara way, I believe there was only 20% previous Azamarans on board. I wont go in to endless drivel about minor misnomers with the ship, yes there are things which I didn't care for and some what I preferred for over the quest, the Den being one, its a much better lounge now they have removed the casino, but the pianist plays far too loud as if to say I'm here listen to me. I thought the lack of tables and chairs on pool deck near the bar poor nowhere to sit and sip a cocktail, also the sun loungers were hard with no pads as previous ships. The shows were ok but only one headliner (comedian) and his second show almost a mirror image I found the experience good though and with a few more cruises under its belt it will be excellent Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary, the destinations were mostly good apart from a change to Nauplion instead of Spetses. Mykonos was supposed to be docked instead we were taken ashore on tenders. Igoumenitsa was a waste of time nothing of note here .We had more tenders than was on itinerary which was disappointing. Training some of the staff to steer the tenders when passengers were on board was a bit worrying. The food on board was excellent in the Discoveries restaurant and lunch times in Windows. The entertainment on board was a bit disappointing and not up to the Quests. The decor in all the public rooms was tasteful and relaxing. The ship has been refurbished new carpets etc. The waiters in the restaurants were attentive and friendly. The living room was a comfortable relaxing place to be with attentive waiters and various snacks during the day. We had a balcony bedroom which had a table and chairs on the balcony. The bathroom was small and the only complaint from most travellers was the shower curtain clinging to their bodies when showering. We did not take any of the shore excursions as we felt they were very expensive and we could make our own arrangements. We had a group of Greek dancers onboard during an evening buffet who were excellent. The Azamazing evening was in Dubrovnik and Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment a rock Cellist Ana Rucnar, we had the central square cordoned off and it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Taken back to the ship by local boats which was interesting. Read Less

Azamara Quest offers a great, small ship experience, with individual, unique events that add to the enrichment of the immersive experience. Great service, great food and wonderful ports of call, combined with a desire to correct any issues whilst onboard, make Azamara one of the best to cruise with. Venice, Kotor, Ravenna, Hvar, Dubrovnik and Koper, were all ports worthy of a visit, and with the Azamazing Evening in Koper, made the cruise memorable. PerpetuumJazille were a wonderful a Capella group and the highlight of the cruise entertainment. The stateroom we booked was an outside and was all we could have expected. Smallish but sufficient, the bathroom contains just enough space to meet its intended functions. Bars and restaurants provide quality offerings with speedy service and a great “can do” approach. Two tender ports posed no problems as the service was slick and uneventful. Being docked in Venice overnight offer a reprieve from the high cost associated with eating and drinking in the overpriced areas whilst still offering the chance to see all the sights that Venice is known for. A walking and gondola tour by Viator proved to be a “must do” event. However, our EasyJet flight was cancelled 21 hours before we were scheduled to return home and our travel agent managed to get us a flight to get us back to LHR instead of LGW but we had to spend 10 hours at the airport for this flight, with a promise of reimbursement of the taxi fare when we submitted a valid receipt to them. A sour note on which to end our best cruise so far... Read Less

We were recommended this ship by a family member who had cruised with her before. the size of the ship was a factor we took into consideration as we didn't want to "go large." We flew from Doncaster Airport and it was great that after checking in our luggage the next time we saw it was outside our Cabin door. Embarkation was very well organised and it didn't take long before we had the key to our Cabin which we found very spacious, well designed and most comfortable. We chose an inside cabin in the exact centre of the ship, this proved to be an inspired decision! Due to the high winds forecast. Our sail away was in full sun and light winds. Our first day was our only "sea" day. We woke up, got dressed and rushed up to deck for our first experience of cruising. Our hearts sank as the staff were busy tying up all the sun loungers, seats and anything else that moved. Yes, the winds were up, we were sailing into a hurricane!!! Later in the day, the captain announced, we would be missing our first point of call in Crete as the winds were too great for comfort. Instead, the ship hid in the relative calm between Islands to let the storm pass and we spent 1 day and a half in Piraeus, Athens. It rained for two full days but we made the best of it and had a laugh over a few glasses each evening. The weather improved and we enjoyed the excellent food and entertainment on board. The captains night was a highlight for us as was the arrival and sail away from Kotor, Montenegro. The ship had a good ratio of passenger to staff and all the staff were always very friendly. and helpful. The entertainment team were superb and put on some great shows. The Celebration is an old ship but has bags of character, the only grumble about the ship was the constant low vibration from the engines, that seems to be constant even when in port. We would definitely recommend cruising on the Marella Celebration. Read Less
