So I don't usually write reviews but our experience wasn't great, so thought I'd best have a moan after all! Starters. Our cabin was clean and functional, no issues with that, the location however wasn't. We were just by the coffee shop near the Atrium. We didn't realise it was a poor position until the evening when the music could be heard until late. Indeed, the last night the "leaving party" went on till at least 1am, not something you want when you have to vacate the cabin by 8am the next day. Be warned, if you are near the Atrium see if you can get moved or prepare to stay in the bar till late waiting for a drink! Dining. The food was ok but the restaurant hours were restrictive. We generally like to eat later in the evening but all the restaurants closed by 9:30 with only a snack bar open till later. This snack bar only provided left overs from the day which were handed to you when you asked. Want to experience the a Charles Dickens novel? "Please sir can I have some more", visit the snack bar! Which leads me to bar service.... I'm not sure some of the reviews were on the same ship as myself. Waiting to get served at a bar was tiresome with all the bars we visited only having one staff member serving drinks behind the bar and usually one waiter loitering. If you don't mind waiting upward of 40 mins to get a drink from the waiter, I guess it's fine. Going to the bar was hit and miss as well. The bar staff didn't understand the concept of queuing. Twice I pointed to a person who had been waiting longer than myself only for the barman not to return once they had dealt with that customer. Maybe it's a British thing, but everyone I queued with moaned about this service, with some suggesting there were more barman on previous years. As you can note with our cruise date, our trip occurred during the World cup while England were still in it (yeah shocked! never expected that when we booked). The entertainment staff did their best to get the England games on the TV and the bar staff worked hard while the England games were on, but the other times... it soured our experience. On the plus side, the Itinerary was great and would like to visit Croatia again, just not with this company. Read Less

Was told good value for money how wrong ,on arrival herded into cattle shed total chaos ,herds of unsupervised children running around ship ,rip off shore exscursions ,food in fine dining well below par ,tried to squeeze every extra dollar out of you , made up charges which had to spend time to get reimbursed,entertainment seen better at holiday camps ,senior staff admonishing general staff in front of passengers these people work hard and do not deserve to be treated in this manner.The beer on board was not a good brand ,when you asked for gin and tonic you would get gin and soda this happened daily .The upper deck it was impossible to access a sun lounger so had to go down to smokers deck to sun bath on deck five .For the amount of money this cruise cost l felt it was a rip off ,maybe my expectations were to high ,but this has made me think twice before cruising again . Departure location and date and fares plus free internet enticed us. But with just a couple staff exceptions, this cruise company was poor to mediocre in every respect. You know the food is bad when you don’t look forward to meals on a cruise. (finally found one exception for dinner) You know the entertainment is weak when you forgo the evening’s offering. The staff seemed poorly trained. (eg Armpits in faces with table service.) Activities were dull, although younger couples had several that appealed to them. The pool was sized for a small 2 story apartment complex. A couple weeks after booking and paying in full, we were notified there would be an increase in the daily fee charged to us. Rather UNFAIR. And certainly not worth it. Cabin stewards seen once or twice but didn’t greet us. At booking was given a choice of a free offering. We chose internet. Onceon board we were told we did NOT have it. How can that be??? Misplaced luggage, room set up error, No activities for our teenage grandson. Room closed. SUGGESTIONS 1. Get everything in writing if you are determined to book Norwegian. 2. Don’t book Norwegian Cruise Lines. You have other choices. We are not prone to boredom and are seasoned travelers. Have experienced other cruiselines with delight and never a complaint. Most often travel abroad on our own orwith a small tour group. Value for money...gave it a terrible review because we wish we hadevery penny back. Especially for the daily per person fee! We've always wanted to visit the Greek Isles and Croatia, so when this cruise came up, we splurged. We thought NCL would be a little higher class and we'd get all we hoped for. We got two penthouse suites, one for me and my husband, the other for my mother and two adult children (23 and 26) and went all out! It was expensive, but once in a life time, right? We spent three days in Venice before boarding, renting an apartment. It was wonderful! Because we were VIP, we embarked immediately and got to eat in the steakhouse (no buffet for us) or long lines. That was fantastic! We were off to an amazing start! Our room was spacious, balcony a good size for a ship and the bathroom and walk-in closet better than we expected. We were excited about the espresso machine in our room until we realized it only had decaf coffee and were informed there'd be no regular coffee available this cruise? We're BIG coffee drinkers, so this was a blow. So, we never got to use the cool machine, instead, had to order a pot of coffee each morning which we were charged extra for. Each day, food was delivered as a snack, which would have been special if it was actually edible. This brings me to the food aboard the Star. It was terrible! We tried every restaurant, including the specialty dining, each time, hoping this would be the night we had a great dinner, only to be disappointed. My steak at the Aqua was literally inedible. I took two bites and pushed it away. Potatoes undercooked or cold, bad cuts of beef, canned sauce, bland food, even my eggs benedict was screwed up - the eggs were solid (not runny). The quality of food was similar to a college dorm or a hospital cafeteria. The shore excursions were bad, unless you like being herded like cattle with headsets. By the third port, I hired a private guide because I couldn't take it anymore (best thing I did). On our day at sea, a kid pooped in the pool! So it had to be drained! Yes, it was a Caddy Shack experience! Yes, it was gross and it ruined the day. PS there is NO kid pool, so if you want to relax, you're out of luck. You're suck with hot tubs jammed with kids, kids splashing, screaming, kicking and crawling all over the place. The music was so loud you couldn't carry on a conversation or listen to an audiobook. And the bands played the same set everyday. If you like Journey, and bad 80's covers, you're in luck. If not, suffer through it and hope you don't want to speak to another human all day while enjoying the sun. Lastly, we could not anchor in Croatia due to waves. It was the one port we wanted to go to and the entire reason we booked the trip and it was missed. Kotor was awful, don't bother getting off ship - you'll be accosted by over aggressive drivers and sales (con) man, possible pick pockets, and the town is not worth it. The climb to the fortress is so treacherous that many won't be able to do it. I felt very uncomfortable and only spent about 45 minutes before hurrying back to the tender. NCL needs to make sure amenities in suites are working and up to stands, the food needs to greatly improve, and there needs to be a kids only or an adult only pool or run the risk of being dubbed the 'poop cruise' as we called it. Re-consider extended time in Croatia, since this is the 'hot spot' and ditch Kotor all together. Santorini has up to 7 cruise ships in port at the same time, which is a nightmare given it has one cable car. It makes for a miserable experience in an incredible destination. Also, be aware public restrooms in Santorini are few and far between and if you're lucky enough to find one, it will cost $0.50 euros to use one - hope you have change or find a quiet corner. At this time, I would not go on another cruise or NCL if this is the standard. It was a lot of money for crap food, crowds and terrible pool experience. I'd rather book an apartment or suite at a seaside resort at the destinations I want to see and enjoy the towns and local foods when the ships are not in port. A dated old ship, despite refurnishment. Clean cabin with lots of storage space but rusted balcony. Thread bear towels and a shower curtain!. Paid extra for a delux mid ship cabin but could heard noise from the Atrium at night preventing sleep and load noise from deck 9 during the day, despite having balcony doors closed and annoucements off. Terrible TV no BBC news after day2. 2 movie channels but no movies!. Constant adverts for Marella. Poor quality pre frozen food . Only fresh fruit was melon and pineapple.Very little fish, mainly meat dishes. Had to pay for coffee and water but not alcohol !. Lifts not working. Cancelled excursions at last minute and Tui staff unhelpful at finding a private company. Expensive wifi £49 per week - didn't bother - should be free in public areas. Rude entertainment staff, but delightful cabin and waiter staff. Very little quite areas. Read Less

I chose this cruise because Greece has been on my bucket list forever. I was so excited when the day came to board. My excitement quickly turned to "bummed" as instance after instance, NCL let me down. Onboarding was quick and easy. Cabin Is adequate but storage area sparse, however, NCL does not allow adjoining balcony doors to be open due to "maritime law". Say what? Every other cruise I have been has done this for us. Steakhouse food was great, tepanyaki and French restaurant good, (but loud) everything else was just OK. Customer service is extremely lacking on this ship. I don't know about the line, but I will never cruise on them again to find out. First impressions matter. We decorated our cabin door and received so many compliments, yet on day 8 of the 10 day cruise we were told to take it down as it was a safety hazard. Again, say what? We have always decorated our door. I told the officer what an asinine rule. Everything in the cabin is a safety hazard. I am now a trouble maker.... So, although Greece was spectacular, this cruise line has done everything they could to make my ship experience suck. Will be happy to say good-bye to NCL. Read Less

This was hands down the worse cruise out of 10 I’ve been on. They lie the second you make your first payment. If I can help out anyone from making an awful decision please choose somewhere else to cruise with. Don’t let the ALL an inclusive trick you. I would of much rather paid for better quality than what you get for free. The staff is rude the food is horrible and you have few options to eat at. Everyday you are at a port and ran from morning until night and then they MAKE you get dressed up just to walk around the boat not just to go to dinner. It was the worse trip of my life!! Everyday we docked or took off my room was up front I heard everything I got little sleep and was NOT even allowed to use my veranda because it distracted the bridge so why get a veranda then?!?!? I asked to move and they would down grade me 4 levels but would NOT refund the difference I paid for the suite versus down below they said it wasn’t the ships fault. I could go on and on BUT bottom line is this is a lying, horrible cruise company and steer clear enjoy your hard earned money somewhere else rather than paying them for abuse and bad food! We chose this cruise because we ha d had a lovely cruise on the Red Sea on the Thomson Celebration. This was a poor imitation. Ther was a long queue to board the ship and they asked for a debit/credit card, which I refused to give them. I had booked an outside cabin for the view, only to be confronted with superstructure and an steel grill. When I enquired about this, I was told I should have paid extra to select a cabin. The cabin was small and cramped and poorly appointed. I had booked All Inclusive", only to find that common British beers and lagers attracted a premium. Seemingly I had booked the wrong "All Inclusive package. Even bottled water had to be paid for. The gin and brandy were of poor quality. there was a ridiculous surcharge of between £15.95 and £19.95 to visit the speciality restaurants. Even in the really good Orion restaurant, a steak was £9.95 extra. A shore excursion was cancelled due to bad weather. When I requested a refund, I was told it was only available back in Britain. I then asked for the money to be transferred to another excursion but was told that I had to pay in full for another trip. Every day, I got a letter asking me to put a debit/credit card or cash which I refused to do. The excursions we took were good. We visited Rome. Pompei, Herculanium, Corsica and Barcelona. Some of the entertainment was good, the theatre shows and the trio in the forward lounge. Some of the waiters left us waiting a long time for service, even though the lounge was not busy. The cabin steward was excellent. I have put my concerns to TUI but they maintain that everything was as it should be. They also refuse to explain why I was charged £50 for a Cuba visa on a previous trip. I will never ever book with TUI again. If you want value for money, do not go on the Marella Nightmare. Read Less

Because it was over Christmas and New Year and visited Madeira which is a lovely port especially at this time of year. We were disappointed that the rules regarding smoking cigarettes in the Churchill lounge were not adhered to. We spoke and wrote to the Captain but still the room was filled with female smokers - totally against the so -called rules. We have never experienced this attitude in our previous cruises with Cunard. After seven days of poor service in the Britannia restaurant in the evening we went to the Buffet where the food was amazingly better, as was the service.The waiters in the Restaurant just gave their attention to the Large number of Oriental guests who spent the whole time swopping tables and constantly taking photographs. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere in the Carinthian lounge where the service was excellent. Would we go on Wueen elizabeth again I doubt it, Will stick to Queen Mary! Read Less

We sailed on the Spirit in 2013 for my 60th where better to celebrate my husband's 65th! We loved her then and still do. Appreciated there had been a couple of refurbs and noticed the engine when sitting at rear of Windows wasn't so noise and vibrated less than last time. Staff were very cheerful and used our names especially our waiters in the bars. Food was lovely and can't see why people would complain. Halloween turnip carvings were a work of art! As we're the various fruit and vegetable carvings We had dinner with Murat at the Officers dinner who kept us entertained! Also attended the Latitudes drinks party. Lots of lovely Canapés. On our last day we came back to our room and what a lovely surprise as we found room decorated for my husband's birthday complete with ice bucket and champagne with a lovley card from Armando and Captain Peter. Disappointed though that on our 11day cruise only one was termed "Norwegian Night Out", thought on a cruise of that length there were normally two and expected one on each of our sea days. Also going by the demographic age group of the passengers, special events like the White Hot Party and Halloween started after 10pm. I realise the theatre show doesn't finish until 10.30 and you are fitting em round that but wish there could be some compromise as we even I. Our mid 60s were feeling tired after all our other activities. Shore excursions are too expensive and although we personally don't like doing things ashore in groups, you are along business to the private companies also the $85 charge for transfer the airport is way over the top. Private transfers for 6/ work out st $25/30 per person and we and many others took a well organised bus to airport for $20 per person. These above are my only gripes. On Saturday 14th October 2017 we were faced with over 8 hour delay to get on the ship because of fog. During that time we waited in the terminal and had to purchase our own refreshments. After a 4 hours we were finally given a packed lunch of a sandwich a bottle of water and fruit. This was a bit hit and miss as there were many who did not receive anything. Also, the staff at the terminal were not able to give us updates and a lot of people got very upset. When we were told that we could finally board the ship, there was complete chaos and a lot of angry passengers. Once on the ship we went to have something to eat around 9pm. We were then told that we had to do a musty call at 11.30pm as we would not be allowed to leave port. I don't know why this was not done in the morning as a lot of people were very tired and the ship finally left the following day on Sunday at 10.30 am. As we were meant to be in Montenegro on the Sunday, the schedule was changed and started with 2 sea days and first port of call would be Athens. We would miss out on visiting Corfu and Mykonos. This left as with Kephalonia, Montenegro and Split to visit. This put a complete damper on our holiday as we had wanted to visit these ports and were given no explanation for this and why we had 2 sea days. This was a first trip on Royal Caribbean for myself and my husband and my brother and his wife, who were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary and my brothers 60th birthday. The customer service at Venice port was awful even though we were reimbursed half a day sailing for each couple. I do not think this is a good compensation in view of losing out on visiting the ports Corfu and Mykonos. We had no choice in the matter. Why we could not still go to Corfu as planned on the Monday, Athens Tuesday, Kephalonia Wednesday, Mykonos Thursday and Montenegro Friday, the original sea day. This but a negative impact on the whole cruise and experience. I will not travel with them again as their customer service in Miami is a load of rubbish. Read Less

This cruise was selected because it advertised 4 Greek Island destinations which were on my bucket list. My husband and I saved for a year then booked the 7 day Greek Island Cruise last year to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary this October 2017. My lifelong dream was to visit the Greek Islands yet upon arrival to the Port in Venice our trip began with a delay due to fog then we were told the port destinations for the cruise would be changed. We finally boarded the Rhapsody of the Seas for our cruise at 9 p.m. Saturday, October 14th after waiting at the port in Venice since 11am with no food or water. Upon boarding the ship we were given the new cruise itinerary which now included 2 SEA DAYS instead of 1 and turned into a Croatian cruise rather than a Greek Island vacation. We missed out on 2 major destinations which is why we selected this Royal Caribbean cruise in the first place, Corfu and Mykonos. So from 4 major destinations in Greece we were only give 2 destinations in Greece very disappointing considering we worked so hard to save up for this once in a life time special occasion. In addition, the 2 days at sea were absolutely boring! There was no ongoing entertainment or activities for the passengers. The theater had one spotlight show around 10 pm and there was no music in the center of the ship until late in the evening for an hour. We even attempted to go to the one Disco which opened around 11:30 or Midnight depending on the night and it was just a prerecorded mix of music from the 80s and no one was dancing. The cruise had nothing to offer as far as activities in the evenings from 6pm - 10:30pm. I really don't understand why there couldn't be some form of musical entertainment during these times. Passengers just sat around waiting for the crew. My husband and I have been on 2 other weekend cruises with other cruise lines and have found it difficult to choose which activity to go to because there is so much going on all over the ship, but the Rhapsody had not measured up in the least. Lots of passengers just walking around, sitting at the bar (no music) waiting. Unfortunately, this is my first experience with the Royal Caribbean Cruise line and my last. I cannot in all honesty recommend this cruise to anyone I know. I will definitely recommend that friends visit Argostoli through another cruise line or flying directly to this lovely destination. I'm currently sailing on the Rhapsody of the Seas. I've cruised regularly with Holland America, Princess, and other members of the Carnival family of cruise lines but this is my first time on RCL. It's moments of adversity that test a corporation's mettle, and RCL's handling of our departure from Venice was not its finest hour. The heavy fog that closed the harbor was beyond RCL's control but the company's response was entirely its call. Venice was pure chaos. We arrived around noon, deposited our luggage, herded to seats at a remote corner and told we would receive documentation and numbered tickets from local staff to ensure everyone was boarded in their order of arrival. There were cursory attempts by staff to distribute sandwiches and bottled water but they brought only enough food for less than a tenth of the people present, resulting in an ugly melee of guests scrambling to grab something to eat. Boarding began after seven hours but people in our corner of the building discovered that we hadn't been given our numbered boarding tickets (and weren't told that tickets had been available all along at a table in the next building). One member of the Italian staff initially wanted all of us to board last until another staffer member overruled her and allowed us to board immediately. By then, whatever "system" that RCL had implemented had broken down entirely, and other folks were boarded randomly without tickets. Latecomers (even some pretty elderly guests) were unable to check in their luggage and were told to walk their bags aboard themselves. It was probably for the better as they were able to access their luggage right away. We had a similar situation on a recent Holland America cruise to Australia. Their response could not have been more different. Guests were provided with regular status updates, given box lunches, soft drinks and coffee and we were greeted with complementary glasses of sparkling wine at dinner when we finally boarded the Maasdam. In contrast, the senior crew response (including the Captain) was essentially to blame the weather and the Venetian port authorities for our delay. RCL is much more down-market compared to HAL or Princess. Don't expect chocolates on your bed or even smoked salmon for breakfast. I also missed getting the satellite edition of the New York Times every morning. There's no quiet ship's library either, just a big onboard shopping mall and a huge effort to upsell guests at every turn. For me, the final straw is RCL's abrupt cancellation of the two highlights of the trip Itinerary--Corfu and Mykonos. This was the only reason why we chose to sail with the Rhapsody of the Sea in the first place. Our only other remaining Greek island stop, Argostoli, seemed like a dubious option to me and my doubts were publicly confirmed by the onboard Excursion Specialist during her Destination Talk this morning when she announced to the audience that "There is nothing to see in Argostoli.." and tried to upsell the audience with her out of town excursion packages. Great, thank you RCL! I can understand the business case for choosing Argostoli over Corfu and Mykonos--RCL can save money on fuel, and probably can sell a few more excursions as well. But in terms of customer satisfaction and customer retention it's a bad call, and I (and probably quite a few others on this ill-starred cruise) will not be sailing with RCL again. Read Less

Chose cruise for destinations visited Good - food, dining room staff, shows Poor - ship very tired looking needs upgrading Terrible - extremely noisy around pool area -bands playing at mega decibels, activities included belly flop completion !!! Everyone who used a microphone seemed to want to shout into it Disputing and unforgivable - after a delay into venice due to fog which caused 10Os of passengers to miss flights we were assured that once we disembarked everything would be sorted with transfers to hotels while new flights booked. In reality we were left standing on the quayside for 4 hours without any sign of royal Caribbean staff, no food or water. People waiting included elderly, infirm ( some in wheelchairs) and children. When eventually RC staff appeared they brought 48 small bottles of water between 100 plus people. Eventually got to hotel @ 11:45pm after disembarking at 5:15pm AVOID RC AT ALL COSTS - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED Read Less

I have never been so angry and frustrated in a cruise like this last time. They charged us up to 21% of taxes plus service charges in all our purchases and beverage packages, photo and spa services arguing that our ITINERARY never touched international waters, so we were only cruising in the European Union, so that was the reason they charged us this outrageous taxes. For example. I bought a beverage package of 10 drinks with a value of 75 usd and I ended paying 96 usd. I bought 2 photos, one with a 50% off and the final price was 30 usd and they charged me 21% tax, arguing that the side of the coast we were cruising was the most expensive for taxes. Guest services explanation was always short and confusing. There was NO DUTY FREE even on cruise days due to the same reason so a $10 usd item end up costing $12.50. This is the first time it has happen to me and I WILL NEVER CRUISE with Royal Caribbean again, they should had informed me or my agency of this taxes plus services charges plus no duty free before paying the cruise. Crew was regular except for our waiters in the main room that where outstanding. We booked a balcony and the glass of the balcony was so dirty that we couldn´t sit to enjoy the views, only standing up. Cabin was TINY. Formal dinners never included Lobster, you had to pay an extra fee to eat lobster. The IZUMI japanese restaurant was a disaster, horrible food, tiny restaurant, bad service. Night shows are out dated and so bad we took off at minute 10 from a couple of them. No sitting chairs in bars, crowded Centrum offered only 20-30 chairs to sit. Scooners bar music is awful and the wine bar, only served wines so you cannot order a cocktail, you had to go yourself to another bar to bring a beverage and si down there if someone in your party was having wine. Bar tenders at bars where not really friendly, only doing their job. Food was average. I have travelled many times in cruises, even in Royal Caribbean and it had never been so bad as this last time. NO customer service yet and I have already placed 2 complaints, so I guess they are not interested in solving real problems. Read Less

I would STRONGLY advise you to avoid Jewel of the Seas if you travel with kids, not sure if this is true across all RC cruise ships. Babies/toddlers have to be potty trained to use the pools, while in the US they can get in the public pools with swim diapers. Pool water is super cold. To get towels, you will have to walk to the front side of the ship from the kids pool in the back of the ship, on a different floor. There is no kids program/childcare for kids under 3. The room configurations are not kids friendly. The bunk beds are not safe for young kids. Dining room service is ok, but food quality is poor. We often had to go to the buffet restaurant as the main course at dining room is bad. I believe they are trying to make 'fancy' food with low quality ingredients. We ordered my daughter's favorite food from the adult menu, the server said you don't want that, I will get you a kid's hamburger instead. Bathroom still had previous guests' personal items. Apparently they did not have time to clean our bathroom. Room service was terrible. We ordered milk for the baby and hardly got delivered, always had to call multiple times. Spoke to a manager who assured us to have it taken care of, still my elderly mother (does not speak English) and baby starved all day in the cabin, they never delivered food/milk for them all day while we were on excursion. My mother was so weak by the time we got back she was not able to walk. Complained to managers and all they could do is offer a small credit for future trips. Who would want to go back to their cruise ship after such a bad experience. Read Less

it seemed good value for money but we found that the ship is like being refurbished while cruising! no kids TV channel, not even a mattress for the baby cot! spent 2 days without hot water in the room which was never cleaned up. we found 3 inflated balloons under the bed hopefully only from the previous occupant! welding, painting and other maintenance chores with many doors being barred form entry. we even spent a full day in Livorno with a crane attached to the ship which had to dismantle a jammed lifeboat proving that drills are very rarely carried out in terms of safety. there were same 3 types of pasta and sauces 24 hours and i doubt if they even change the containers! this not to mention the kids menu which only provides the same 4 things! water cost about 7usd per bottle but its free form the distributors in a cup, they encourage you to use rooms service which will set you back some 9usd per call (fro free water!!!) The ship is tiny with poor facilities. Long queues at bars, inability to get a sun bed and a seat in the restaurant. Total lack of information and some crew members were condescending. Would never go on another cruise based on this experience. Overpriced. More like a floating holiday camp with tacky entertainment eg line dancing lessons to Cotton Eye Joe - not my idea of fun. Listening to a pompous man singing and playing piano whilst insulting the guests in the guise of comedy is another thing I resent being charged an extortionate fee for. Music everywhere all the time: why is this necessary? Many pple dont like it - e.g. Spinnaker lounge pple sitting reading relaxing. Not only is music not necessary, certainly teenage pop music even less so Teppanyaki Dining Experience - Horrific dining experience one of the worst dining experiences I’ve experienced.Tacky, lewd, noisy, completely unfunny, scripted, forced, borderline racist ‘quips playing on American stereotypes of Asian people. Food acrobatics and some kind of theatre to make egg fried rice, plus in addition cooking oil being splattered onto my nice clean shirt from these antics. I had the understanding that it would be some Japanese dining experience - where was the Japanese element? Certainly wasn't in the food. Fun for children perhaps. TV screen issues in Atrium Too often an event that has already passed is continuing to be advertised. We chose this cruise for the ports - which remain the best part of the vacation. The cruise itself was not a great experience, which was very disappointing since this was our 4th cruise with Royal Caribbean. And it will be our last cruise with Royal Caribbean. First - I'll start with the good things we did appreciate: - Quick embarkation and disembarkation - The shore excursions (that weren't canceled on us, more on that later) - The ports - The bar staff (it's not difficult to get drinks anywhere) - The entertainment - Our second waiter (we had a first, but more on that later) - Comfortable and clean state room. - The bottomless mamosa brunch. Next - we'll get into why this is our last cruise with Royal Caribbean. Hold on tight, the grievances are extensive. Let's start with the first day. We went to the receptionist at the spa to confirm our prepaid spa reservation. They had my husband's appointment, but not mine. The receptionist did not believe that we had TWO prepaid massages, not just one. I'll fast forward to three hours later, after we dragged up the confirmation email using international data on our phones AND our bank statement... we got a "oh that's weird, the system isn't usually wrong. This is why I tell guests to sign up directly with me." So, no apology for wasting 3 hours of our first day on the cruise trying to sort out a mistake on her end. Let's fast forward to the actual massage. After it was over, they charged me for a 70 minute massage instead of the 50 minute massage I PREPAID for! Seriously? This is after the massage therapist asked me "What's wrong with your legs? Did you get lasik hair removal?" - If you're wondering, no, I have not had lasik hair removal, and I do have dry skin. Also, who asks that of a client? That's not the way to sell me spa products. Despite my better judgment, I tried the spa services one more time - just a traditional manicure. No surprise, they were running a half and hour behind and I missed our dinner reservations. Anything done as way of apology there? Nope. Just a "well the lady before you showed up late, sorry to make you wait." Next - the ship itself was fine, but the common areas were disgusting. There weren't many free tables open, but if there were, they almost certainly had dirty dishes left behind on them. I don't think I sat on a pool chair that didn't have drinks left behind by the people before us. Now onto food quality. It was not consistent on the ship. There were items at the Windjammer that were inedible. Mostly the eggs during breakfast. If you stick to the pre-packaged goods and fruit, it was fine. But anything cooked was terrible. The coffee was also terrible. I have a suspicion it's because they want you to pay for the coffee package or for the "better" coffee at the bar. We ate at Giovanni's. My husband and I both had the New York Strip steak. We both ordered them medium rare. They came out well done. My husband's was still good despite being over cooked. But mine was literally inedible. I was seriously questioning if it was really steak. The main dining room has the best food, particularly for dinner. In past cruises we've done, dinner included surf and turf and lobster. This time around you have to pay $20-50 for that dish (which they do push at you pretty hard). Speaking of the main dining room, we had very strange seating assignments. They sat me and my husband at a large round table that seats 8, except no one came to join us for the two nights we were there. It was located right next to the kitchen, so we were repeatedly bumped into by passing servers. And since we had so many empty chairs at our table, servers would just take chairs from our table to give to other tables who had people join already full tables. Also, our main server kept forgetting about us, so my water glass was filled maybe once during our 3 hour long dinner. We requested to switch tables after that. Like I said before, we chose this cruise for it's itinerary - mostly because I wanted to see Santorini. A week before the cruise date, we checked online and saw Santorini was taken off. Nothing was done to alert us that Santorini was taken off the schedule. No email, no communication, no opportunity to change our cruise until it was too late. Then the day before we were scheduled to go to Mykonos - that was canceled as well. I get it, it's beyond any control, but I feel like SOMETHING, like a discounted excursion or cruise credit could have been offered in either of those circumstances. And then on top of everything, our excursion in Croatia got canceled, but we didn't find out until we showed up that morning. In conclusion, don't do an international cruise with Royal Caribbean. Just do it on your own. It's not worth the hassle, and unlike their caribbean cruises, they don't do anything to go out of their way in terms of customer service. Read Less

Venice was beautiful and a lovely city to visit as expected. Embarkation was a problem as there were no wheelchairs for my dad upon arrival. We had to wait for one to come. Ports of call seemed good and was to a certain extent Dubrovnik and Montenegro were lovely places to visit Unfortunately and very disappointingly we had to miss Mykonos due to bad weather which was very very sad as this was the reason we took this cruise. Katokolon Greece was absolutely horrible, the boat was berthed very far away no arrangements were made for the old and disabled to get to the port entrance which caused a lot of delays and very angered elderly and disabled persons. In summary Total waste of time and money Everyone's attitude was terrible Service was horrendous Meals and special needs of persons not taken seriously Lots of contamination of food and absolutely filthy sticky furniture in the restaurant areas to name a few. Definitely will not be cruising with Royal Caribbean as I have always cruised with them and there is a definite feeling of lowered standards and cost savings in everything from food to cleanliness and quality of staff. We chose this cruise for the destinations and were not disappointed but the SHIP was DREADFUL. This very, very tired ship had the Norovirus the week before our trip so the swimming pools were emptied and nets put over them which looked terrible, long queues for mediocre food because it all had to be served by staff with plastic gloves,we were sprayed constantly in an effort to control the virus, not how you want to spend a holiday.We did not want to join a group for our evening meal and were made to feel a nuisance and always had to wait at the side of the queue for a table.. However the worse experience was the plumbing, daily blocked toilets, dirty water coming up through the bath plug and black water from the shower, if it had been an hotel room we would have checked out. However, the staff were brilliant always available to clean away the dirty water and constantly cheerful,we would not use Thomson's again. Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. We had wanted to see Venice from the Grand Canal and also visit Santorini Dubrovinik and Mykonos. We visited Split. After a day at sea we had a flying visit to Santorini and visited Mykonos at 8pm the same day, the ship then left Mykonos at 2am. It was getting dark when we docked at Mykonos so only saw the town. This was followed by a day at sea to reach Dubrovnik, then next day to Ancona where a lot of Italians disembarked and more passengers got on. The itinerary was misleading only one day at sea was stated whereas we had 2 days at sea This we didn't want! The food in all restaurants was DISGUSTING! Fried eggs at breakfast were slimy and not even half cooked. The bacon was rubbery and inedible even the toast was inedible, in all our lives have we never failed to eat toast but on this ship we could not eat it. Evening meals consisted of only 3 courses, the meat was tough and gristly and again not cooked enough. The first night apple crumble was served for dessert a chisel would have difficulty cutting through it never mind the spoon that was presented to eat it. Everyone sent this back. Nothing else was offered to replace this. The drinks were way overpriced 5.69 euros for a small beer. The both of us lost weight, this has never been known on other cruises we have been on. All excursions were overpriced. We did our own - thing much cheaper! When we disembarked one of our suitcases went missing despite it being clearly labelled it took over 2 hours to find it. Another problem was the connection between leaving the ship and getting the plane. We were in Venice airport 7 hours waiting for our plane home. WE would not recommend MSC or the Sinfonia to anyone. Book another cruise company instead. Read Less

My wife and I decided yo take this cruise to be able to see the places your ship would be docking in. The service on board was excellent. The staff, especially the waiters and room attendants were very friendly and helpful. There were enough activities on board and on shore to keep us entertained and occupied throughout the trip. Excellent live music to listen to and to dance to. As a senior retired citizen, my one regret though is not being able to try out the other fine dining restaurants on board because of the substantial additional costs it will entail to try them all out. Perhaps a way could be worked out in your future trips to make this a part of the overall dining experience of your passengers. I enjoyed the live performance shows in the theater, the indoor and outdoor movies and the leisurely lounging and walking on deck, These all adds up to a happy and memorable experience for us. Voou surf internet + stream: very very slow! ropes on cabin gone chocolats on evening, gone minibar with drinks, you have to ask to get it filled cupons with discounts, as low as you could think of... gone too big for me with so low quality... was turning onto emerald on my next cruise, but, no Thanks! any one want's a platinum membership?
