Family cruise celebrating mine and wife's 70th birthdays. Cruised with two adult children and four grandsons. Best part of cruise were the specialty restaurants. All were excellent. Worst part was Epic was overcrowded. Ship rated for 3900 passengers but there were 4700 on board. Garden buffet so crowded often difficult to find place to sit. Food was good though. Also the Epic ship itself was poorly designed. Hard to get around. No where to walk. Fitness center not centrally located. Had to walk through pool area to get to center. And the cabins; cramped, poorly designed. I'm 5'10" and my feet hung off the edge of the bed. Norwegian has gone the way of airlines in shrinking the cabins in order to squeeze more people in. Totally uncomfortable . On a seven day cruise, 5 plus days were spent at sea. St. Thomas was a half day and nothing there except dozens of jewelry stores. Very disappointing. I plan to try Norwegian again on another ship. Some of the above mentioned problems were due to circumstances caused by spring break. But seriously, the Epic should be taken out to sea and sunk. It would be better used as an artificial reef!! Read Less

We went on an Eastern Carribean cruise on the Norvegian Epic. Had planned for 3 years to take a cruise. We left Port Canaveral on March 16th and returned on March 23rd a 7 day cruise. We were upgraded from a balcony to a large balcony. Needless to say, we ended up with a partially enclosed balcony, with a round hole for a window. The other couples we were with had a glass balcony, they had beautiful views, not us!! I went down to guest services and was told they could not do anything about it!! Bad start of the cruise! The service is terrible, as everybody on the ship has the free drink package, so in order to get your drinks, you stand in line at the bars to order, minimum of 2 drinks per person. Very seldom do you see any cocktail waitresses unless you are in a restaurant. We went to a couple of shows, which were nice, although extra charges! The specialty dining was good, especially the Japanese restaurant. Went on 1 excursion, snorkeling, in St Thomas. Had a great time and the crew on the catamaran were very nice! Did not get to stop at the Bahamas because the waters were too rough. Kind of a disappointment as our group was looking forward to that. All in all, I will never cruise with Norwegian again! We wanted this cruise because the balcony rooms and being able to go to St. Thomas. We did have a balcony room, and I can say I enjoyed the room, even if the layout is strange. That was about the only thing I can say I consistently enjoyed. The food was a crap shoot: Tempanyaki was amazing and the staff was great, The Noodle Bar, also great, the steak house, Cagney's, perfect and again, the staff was killer. The Brazilian Steak house was just meh, the staff, not friendly, the main dining room and Taste were just ok, and the staff had other places they wanted to be. It isn't like we were sneaking in right before closing, we had reservations. The always open restaurant was just the buffet food plus wings. The buffet was ok, just ok. I understand and did see horrible guests that make working service jobs a pain, so I get that some days you are not on your A-game, but it was all the time. We bought the soda package and I am not kidding, we got maybe 10 sodas a piece, max. You had to wait behind all of the people at the bar, even kids did, to get a soda. Maybe it was because on my last cruise on Symphony of the Seas, you got a special magnetized cup which allowed you to a soda machine to fill your cup without waiting in line forever at the bar. What a total waste of money that was. The internet was sketchy at best. We left several hours late due to "scheduled maintenance", and while it did not effect our arrival in Tortola, it did mean we really had nothing to do for all of those hours, no shops could be open, nothing. When we were in port one day, more maintenance, they were cleaning our balcony, then at 7 om a knock on the door to do a state room check, then we didn't stop at all on their private island, and we find out that that seems to be a very common theme. The pool area was super small. All together, it was very disappointing, three scheduled maintenance things on one cruise? Not being able to get things you paid for and having staff be crabby or just not being able to find anyone if you had a question? I'd not go on this ship again and am not sure if I will go on NCL again. Other lines have it so much more together and easy. Read Less

We choose this cruise because the schedule worked for my daughters spring break from school and we have sailed Norwegian before and had a good experience on past cruises. This one, however, was pretty terrible, first off, it was a 'full ship' and that is all well and good if they were prepared for a full ship. The check-in proton was pretty smooth but you could tell the agents checking you in were running at full capacity and a few extra windows open could have sped things along a bit and lightened the workload of the agents that were there. Once on the ship, it was apparent that ALL the shows and entitlement was sold out on the touch screen displays and this was seconds after boarding. We booked the Cirque show weeks in advance or would have had no shows what-so-ever. The onboard staff seemed very overwhelmed and disorganized and we were told 'don't worry it'll be smoother in a few days'. We had also booked reservation weeks in advance for the Manhattan Room for our first night of dining that mysteriously disappeared. The specialty restaurants were booked and impossible to get into. Shows that couldn't be booked ahead of time like the Escape the Big Top was somehow booked up the instant we walked on the ship, to note a port of call was canceled (Great Stirrup Cay) and an additional Escape the Big Top for that day was added for 10 am and could only be booked through the box office which didn't open until 10 am :\ The Cabin was very tight and it did not have a bathroom, it had a shower and a toilet that was separate and at the entry door to the cabin. I am 6'5" and nearly 300lbs and I could not close the toilet door when I sat down. The shower and toilet area had a curtain you could draw in order to help with privacy but didn't do much. The bed was too short and my legs hung off making it impossible to get a decent night sleep. Dining staff's attitude varied greatly, some did their jobs well and made the service fun some could have cared less and basically tossed plates on the table and didn't interact. In summary, this was by far the worst Norwegian cruise I've been on, it was my third and most likely my last. Read Less

We choose this cruise because it coincided with my stepdaughter's Spring Break and she really wanted to go to the Bahamas. We had been to Bermuda aboard the Norwegian Breakaway two years prior and really loved it - Splash Academy (the kids program), the dining, the ship amenities, the staff...great. This is the review I tried to send Norwegian for this cruise's experience: If this was my only experience with Norwegian, I would definitely not cruise with Norwegian again. Having had a good experience on our prior cruise, I still think I would probably strongly consider another cruise line. When I initially booked my cruise, things were fine. Then, I called in to talk about free at sea offers, of which we were entitled to two per room (we had two rooms, which had to be handled as separate reservations, which was a problem several times, as well). In addition to having to hold for excessive amounts of time (45 minutes to an hour), I then had to deal with a bored sounding not very nice person before eventually getting that straightened out. Wifi is worthless and the gratuities on other options make "free" a bit of a misnomer. We decided to book excursions at 2 out of 3 of our ports. Could not complete this online. Had to call in. Another lengthy wait. They were able to see the excursions in my cart, but the payments wouldn't process online, had to do over the phone. Had to go through entire process twice to get both rooms signed up. Later decided to book Cirque experience. Glad we did, as it was one of the most fun things on the cruise. However, even booking in advance of the cruise (another lengthy phone wait), the early showing was sold out and we had to opt for the later showing which was rough on our daughter. I was transferred from excursions to restaurant reservations because I had decided to make a reservation for the first night for the Manhattan Room because we had enjoyed it so much the first time we cruised on Norwegian. I made a reservation which I was able to see on NCL.com and in the app, until the day of the cruise when I couldn't see anything on either because everything reset. Likewise, the Manhattan Room had no record of our reservation. And, like everything else, once on the ship, no reservations were available for anything. The only times we could do specialty dining were noon on port days or 10pm on other days. 10pm does not work for people cruising with children who are in bed at this time. I tried this literally as soon as the touch screens were working. I don't know why you bothered having people advertise the restaurants since there were no convenient reservations to be had. Thankfully, we learned that the way to get in to Taste and the Manhattan Room was to get there half an hour before they opened. Otherwise, it was 45 minute + wait times with beepers - if I wanted to go to the Olive Garden, I wouldn't have spent money on a cruise. We had several very good restaurant service people (Denny and Jefferson in the Manhattan Room were the best), but we had a lot of mediocre service too. The whole experience of the cruise was crowded with tired-seeming, overworked, uncaring staff. The Splash Academy staff were good and helped our daughter have a good time on the cruise, but even that, the lines were insane and if you didn't get everywhere and stand in line forever, you got bumped out. In terms of shows, we had already signed up for Cirque, but had wanted to do Escape the Big Top. Completely sold out by the first evening, and that was something we couldn't pre-book. They added sessions for the sea day for our third port being cancelled due to weather, but the first one was at 10:00, wasn't available on the touch screens or in room system, and when I called guest services, they said to book with the box office, which didn't open until 10:00. Super helpful. Instead, my daughter and I went to the painting in Headliners. We were the second people out and waiting, and almost got locked out of it, because there was no signage or staff member or note in the Freestyle Daily to note that you had to sign up ahead of time! We were literally the last two people to get in to the session. Pretty ridiculous. Speaking of Headliners, one of the things we loved on our first cruise on the Breakaway was the Second City Improv - I think we went four different times. The comedians this week in Headliners were chuckle inducing, but...not anything to write home about. The cruise director was missing in action most of the time except photo and video ops. Disembarkation was a complete disaster. We did self-assist/independent/carry our own luggage and were ready to exit the ship promptly in the morning. We stood in confusing lines for over an hour with no staff directing the process or even just being a friendly face. There was one person helping those in wheelchairs, and that is literally the only staff member we saw until we were at the keycard checkpoint by the gangway. Ridiculous. I understand that this was a Spring Break week and the ship was at capacity, but really, it should be staffed appropriately. If you can't handle this volume, build smaller ships and focus on doing things well. I would have added that this ship does not have a great layout. For example, the Spa is on the same level as Splash Academy, but getting between these areas is challenging - minimal signage/maps, only one hallway that works. The bathrooms in the staterooms are not meant for anyone tall/fuller figured. And the frosted glass on them and the shower is better than nothing, but isn't ideal for adults sharing rooms with children or non-intimate partners. Oh, and my 6'5" husband's feet well overhung the end of our bed. And having two separate beds for my mom and stepdaughter in our other room? Made up separately, yes, but with a gap of four inches, maybe, between them. Read Less

Well, we didn't crash or lose engines... but we could not WAIT to get off this crappy ship! Food: MDR food was awful & the selection was like ordering food at Cracker Barrel, but with worse service. (Epic is understaffed, and it shows... everywhere) Fried chicken, cornbread, short ribs, pot pie, bbq pork, rotisserie chicken, steak with fries??? Where is the seafood?? Pathetic! We gave the MDR 2 honest shots before we settled for the buffet on the nights we didn't have specialty dining. We enjoyed Moderno & Teppanyaki, but La Cucina was a joke. After waiting nearly 2 hours for our meal then receiving 4 dime-size pieces of chicken in my carbonara, we walked out and settled for the buffet. The buffet was just ok. Though I got tired of eating the same crap breakfast every morning, and the soggy limp bacon. The lunch selections were a tiny bit better. Tacos! We liked the pizza for the first couple of days, then they switched to some weird square school cafeteria style pizza. Just gross. Everything was overcooked, except the bacon. O'Sheehan's was good, and the soup station at the buffet was fantastic! I had pork soup with rice noodles and veggies. Bar/drink package: We knew it was Spring Break, obviously because we had our kids with us, so we were prepared to wait for drinks by the pool. But, Epic is very understaffed, and if our drink package wasn't "included" in our booking, then I would be asking for a refund. No matter which bar I went to there was a long wait for drinks. Honestly, I've never had to wait at a bar for a drink on a cruise ship. There are usually servers walking around taking orders! I wish I could have found a server to tip! As I said, Epic is really understaffed. I'm pretty sure they offer the crappiest coffee-ever so that you'll be willing to pay for a good cup of coffee. Which should be included in the "ultimate drink package", IMHO. Nickel & Dime Poolside entertainment: The band was just ok, but only if you were standing/dancing in front of them. We were lounging by the pool most days (since we had 4 sea days), and we couldn't hear the music, only the dude singing... and it was like hearing really bad drunk karaoke being screamed into a mic. Y'all, no joke... he was terrible. I had to leave at one point because I was getting a headache. Entertainment: Burn the Floor was completely reserved by the time I thought about booking our spots, so we didn't get to see that. We weren't paying extra for Cirque Dreams, bingo, or bowling so not sure about that. (nickel & dime) We weren't interested in Priscilla or the escape room, so we were pretty much left with Headliners comedy. They were pretty funny, especially in the adult only show. We thought the Skyy Ice Bar was worth the money for the experience. Someone farted while we were in there, so we (even the bartender!) evacuated early. Fortunately, already tossed back our drinks and we were freezing, so we were ready to leave! Ports: We loved The Baths & snorkeling at Tortola! We couldn't have asked for a better experience! Beautiful & lots of fun! St. Thomas was beautiful also, and we were lucky to be some of the first ones at Magen's Bay beach. Our teen boys had a blast swimming around, and their favorite part was seeing sea turtles swim very close to them! Too bad we had to leave by lunch to ensure we'd be back on the ship by 2. I wish we could have stayed at St. Thomas longer... especially since we didn't get to stop at GSC. 4 sea days is too many for us, we discovered... especially when the bars, food, and entertainment sucks! Overall, we were disappointed in this cruise, and I wish I would have chosen a different ship. We will NEVER book Epic again, and probably not ever again with NCL either. Nickel & Dime... and NOT worth the money. We could not wait to get off this boring crappy ship!! Read Less

We choose this cruise ship, because I had heard good things about MSC and this cruise fitted our dates and where we wanted to go. A Group of 6 of us from America and the UK all booked to go together as we live on opposite sides of the world The ship is BIG, and there are ALOT of people on board. Although the ship is nice fitted out and still quite new, I don't feel that the public areas where big enough for the amount of people on board. Particularly the South Beach bar, which is the central area for smokers. We over 4000 people on board a smoking area an area that seats only abut 30 people given the % that is likely to smoke out of 4000 people is just not big enough. I found the ship really unhelpful with requests. Prior to sailing we had submitted information that MSC requested to ensure that all of 6 of us where on the same dining table for dinner. When we got onboard and received the information all 3 couples were on different dinner sittings, 1 couple in different restaurant and therefore of course all not together. When we tried to change this we were told we could then only have dinner at 9.30pm Why on earth would I want my dinner at 9.30pm!! The food on board was absolutely disgusting, to the point were it was almost inedible most days. This goes for the restaurant and the buffet. We ended up having to pay extra for the special restaurants just to be able to get (semi) decent food, with this racking up for 6 of us at about $600 per evening. The ports of call where nice but the times were just not practical. Feel like I might as well not bothered going to Puerto Rico as docking at 5pm and back on board at midnight is not really helpful to see somewhere the same goes for the Bahamas, docking at 12.30pm and on board for 5pm Embarkation was ok, fairly light lines compared to what I have seen before but disembarkation was another story, just chaos As someone that has been on over 50 cruises I will not be returning to MSC Read Less

A beautiful ship but the food was poor quality compared to Celebrity and Princess. As an avid cruiser for more than twenty years, this was my worst cruise choice yet. A white fish dish over a bed of white rice should not be covered in brown gravy. Mushroom caps should not be rock hard and ready for a sling shot. Gnocchi are meant to be soft and delicate, not torched to hard consistency. Do you inspect your plating before it leaves the kitchen? You might consider this. I could likely write pages on the quality of the food. Your Garden cafe has very poor choices compared to other lines. Ocean and Teppanaki are likely the only mediocre choices on this ship. If you are going to attempt Italian cuisine you should really consider consulting an Italian chef. Bar staff were the most pleasant, especially the gentleman running the Sugercane Mojito Bar. Some of the staff at the entrance to your dining options really need to brush up on customer service skills. First night on the ship I was appauled at the attitude of the woman at the entrance to Teppanaki. If you smoke, there is only one place at the back of the ship to do so. This area was closed every night for a private party. Smokers were moved to the race track deck to accommodate. Let’s move smoking to a deck with children rather than allow in the cigar lounge. Accommodating my spouse I could hear the anger of other cruisers. I was extremely disappointed in this line, having heard great reviews over the years. This was my first and last sailing on this line. Read Less

This was my 15th cruise, 3rd with NCL. We chose this particular Spring Break cruise to join family with grandchildren. The shows we saw ("Priscella Queen of the Desert" & "Burn the Floor") were the best I've seen on a cruise ship. Loved them. Wish we had known to make reservations for Cirque Du Soleil as soon as we got on board, before muster call. We couldn't get into that one. The food was OK. The service in the restaurants and bar areas was really spotty. Sometimes we had good service but at several meals the waiters acted as if it were an inconvenience to take our order. A large number of guests seemed to have drink packages. I had to wait in line as much as 15 minutes at the bar to get a glass of wine. The food at the Brazilian style Moderno specialty restaurant was quite nice. The main reason for my 2 star review was the debarkation "process". We did the "easy!!!" self assist in order to meet our shuttle to Orlando International. So did everyone else. It was pure chaos with no organization. Everyone was confused and asking which deck to go to. It was not published anywhere in the handouts nor on the TV information channel. The crew we asked gave us different answers. We ended up lugging our suitcases downstairs (30 minutes prior to debarkation time estimate) since the elevators were packed in both directions. By the time the cruise director announced "Deck 7" for self assist the crowd was out of control. We were directed to one "line" that extended from the front of the ship to the back. The "line" went down the entire length of the ship, around the dining room, outside and then back up to the front of the ship. Another "line" went roughly from the back to the front of the ship. There were almost no crew there to organize the lines. We saw only 1 crew member at the front and 1 at the back of the ship. It was a complete free-for-all with passengers coming down the elevators jumping in front of irate passengers that had been queued up for 45 minutes. IT TOOK 1-1/2 HOURS JUST TO GET OFF THE SHIP. The delays were totally on board. Customs and immigration were not backed up. We tipped a porter and went straight thru. The debarkation experience ruined the trip. Read Less

We were so excited to go on the ship, we have cruised with RC many time and 1 time with Carnival,,, RC is our fav by fair!!! I had reservations about this cruise from the beginning when we booked it I wanted 5 cabins and upon paying for them my credit card locked us out after the first 2 the sales lady said no worries we will hold and pay for the rest in the morning upon morning we lost 2 cabins ended up getting back 1 which left us with 4 cabins, we weren't happy but we settled. this trip ment a lot to us as my son was asking his gf to marry him on this cruise.. we book 4 aurea rooms and had extended balconies ( do not recommend) upon arrival we booked excursions within 3 hrs was told they could not get our excursion for St Thomas and had to settle for another one (this was after we were garenteed it) then in St marten the excursion we sat on atv's waiting while the business owner was bugging out about having to many people and not enough ATVs (we booked 9 of them and only 7 showed up in our family so they had 2 extra and still didn't have enough) after sitting in the hot sun for over 30 min watching the owner run around not knowing what to do we left and found dunn buggies and rented them, more fun and no aggreivation. Back on board food was horrible only ate 1 night in the dining room 4 nights in specailty rest and 2 in buffet... food never changed and was not very good, rude workers seemed the only time they were nice was when you paid for extra stuff 1 of the front desk ladies were down right rude to us when we were trying to take out cash for the next day in bahamas,,, we had aurea and the alcohol package sucks, if you want to upgrade it has to be everone in the room, tried to explain I do not drink due to health reasons but no leway on this rule. so paid for our drinks, on this ship everything cost extra and they still treat you like crap. we ended paying a ton extra I could have gone to Atlantis in the bahamas for a week for what I paid on this cruise and still have some leftover money ( and I have gone there for a week many times) The times on port are not great PR at 5pm and leave ST Maarteen by 2... The aurea private areas after 1st day no one checked to see if you have a card to get in and was always crowded there... the boat rocks constantly even when docked so no stability.. in general not happy with this cruiseline.. but was so glad to be with my grown children and hubby and watching my son propose on the boat... oh yeah cabin stunk like cigarettes most of the trip anll 4 of my cabins and they were not cleaned when we got there, they werent vacuuemed Read Less

Not enough to give adequate services. Took the grandkids 10 years ago and MSC was great, terrible now. Don’t recommend now or ever. I was not the only person not happy with the way they were handling things.. which surprised me. As I am picky. Grand son age 7 enjoyed it, 16-18 not so much. A lot of people said MSC is growing to fast, and not paying attention to quality control.. wicker chairs were in bad shape, and need replacement. Food was a little mediocre, hit and miss good one night, next not so good. Servers were good. NEED MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF, IN GUEST SERVICES. We had high hopes for this cruise, but as soon as we embarked, we felt like we were going to have concerns. Embarkation was generally easy, we got onto the ship and registered our cruise card on the self kiosks, which was hassle free. We went to our room, which an announcement was made they were ready, and after 5 minutes, we were kicked out by the cleaning staff, saying they were not done. That was a hassle. After finally getting into our room, we settled in. The cabin and ship overall was very clean, no complaints there, but the cabin design seems very inefficient, even for cruise lines. We sailed on Carnival, Royal Caribean, and Princess, and MSC was definitely the most cramped. We were not comfotable at all during the cruise in that respect. The dining experience on the ship was very bland, nothing was bad, but nothing was good. The two buffets were always crowded and difficult to find seating. They offered plenty of choices but nothing that was great. We did eat at the dining room each night and the service was okay for a cruise, not great but not bad. Not up to of our expectations. Food was very bland, but nothing bad, just average. Portions were also very small, which was fine for us but for someone expecting a large dinner, don't expect that much. The entertainment was okay, it seems like it was the exact same show every night with a different theme. Shows were 30 minutes and were generally entertaining. The theater is small, and you must reserve your seats ahead of time. We actually got kicked out of a show because we had the wrong time! Never seen anything like that before. What really made this cruise awful was the ports of call and the excursions. You are only in a few of these ports for 5 hours or less! After taking the shipboard excursions, we literally has to run back to the ship twice to make the all aboard. We did not get to see any shopping or dining in St. Maarten or Bahamas. The quality and organization of the excursions are the worst I have ever seen on a cruise. Most of the time for the excursion was travel. DO NOT TAKE THE Jeep Excursion on St. Maarten. I don't want to vent, but it ruined our trip. MSC's organization of getting people off the ship was also subpar. Everything else about our trip was subpar, the photo package was a nightmare, trying to sift through literally 10,000 photos to find yours was a joke. The internet package also eats your data very quickly, even when not using it, and everything they do on MSC is an upsell. I know they want you to upgrade, but MSC made it clear you cannot enjoy ar go into part of the ship unles you upgrade to a higher package. And finally, the service was not very good. The crew spoke very little English and did not seem to want to help. Something I also have never seen on a cruise. Overall, my interpretation would be, MSC is like a JV sports team, they are good enough to make the team, but not good enough to play on the Varsity squad. Definitely, felt like a tier 2 cruise line. I don't even know where to start! The rooms are horrible! A suite should not be called a suite! A family of 4 cannot fit in the room! A curtain separating the bathroom, who's idea was that no privacy! With the drinking package, you still get charged for the mini bar! Bottle Water is not included! The rooms were tiny. The bartenders were rude! They all had attitudes. Some ignored you at the bar. At least we waited 30 minutes for a drink! Not enough lounge chairs! The two small pools for 4k plus people is ridiculous! You had to wake up at 7am just to hold chairs! The bathrooms by the pool were disgusting!!!! No staff monitoring the bathrooms. No paper towels, sinks weren't working! Ughhh horrible! The staff were not friendly, not even at dinner. No one refilled the drinks! You had to asked! Not in royal Caribbean or carnival you have that problem. My kids could even go to the bar to get sodas! I bought the soda package for no reason! No designated section for kids to get their own sodas. The entertainment was so mediocre! No sports showing on TV, we.love basketball and we didn't even get to see any basketball not even in the sport bar (not sure why they call it a sports bar when the channel cannot be changed by the staff. The band at the pool deck was the only highlight of the day! The smoking section...wow right by the main pool bar and the pool! I had a headache for days! Everyone was complaining! The waiters, you had to hunt them down to get a drink! One of them even lost my room card and didn't even apologize. You had to wait at least 15 min for the elevators. The elevators had no AC. And then they disappeared for 40 minutes! We cruise regularly and this is by far the worst! Never ever again NCL! the process to leave the boat was chaos! You would think it would be better since it is every week! We didn't go to the last island due to the weather, which I knew it was a complete lie! Our family was looking forward to get off the boat! We couldn't wait to get off! We waited 7 months for This family vacation! We have royal Caribbean booked in November and my kids kept saying they couldn't wait for that! We were still on the boat and they wanted to leave! The casino is open to the main dining so the cigarette smoke was bad. No good channels to watch in your room. Overall I would never to NCL again. Overpriced, overrated, small staterooms. Read Less

We choose this cruise because we had taken the Alaskan cruise on the Norwegian Pearl and had a wonderful time. The cruise was not worth the money we had to pay. First there were problems with the ship which delayed us 6 hours. There were college students everywhere. We had to stand in long lines to get a drink. Loud partying all night in the halls and on the balconies. Forget getting a specialty dinner at a decent hour unless you want to eat at 9-10 pm at night. Had to wait in long lines for regular dining. Forget getting a sun cot on the pool deck. I saw a line of 6 to 7 cots open and asked the young lady if they were free. No, of course not. She was saving them all for her friends. Finally we decided to stay in our room most of the time instead of fighting the crowds. Also had to skip Stirrup Cay because of rough sea. So out of the 7 days we were at sea 5 of them. Not a good time at all!!! Read Less

This cruise was not worth the money! Most of the staff were not polite and definitely did not go out of their way to make it a great experience! It would take a very long time to get a drink. I got specialty dining and only got to eat at 2 restaurants in 7 days because I didnt reserve before getting on the ship! All the excursions were also booked and we didnt even get to stop on the last island, the trip to St Thomas was super short and we spent way too long of a time on a ship that was not pleasant to be on! Some of the activities on the ship for the kids were extra charges and not included. The ship is poorly organized and the dissembarkation was a complete nightmare and made no Sense...the only good experience was our housekeeper Andres who was helpful and pleasant! Read Less

We have sailed on Carnival twice and Norwegian twice and this will be our last time on Norwegian. Family of four with a 3 year old and 15 year old. PROS -Tortola is beautiful. Do a shared charter -Cagney's and the Brazilian specialty restaurant were exceptional -The 2 Broadway shows were fantastic -Kids splash academy was great -Buffet always had a good selection of items CONS -Way too crowded -Lines every where you went -Good luck finding a drink in less than 30 minutes -Main dining entrees were just so so and slow -Behind scenes tour does not include the engine room -Legendary Kon Tiki boat was a joke and over priced -They skipped the 3rd of 3 stops so we literally were only off the boat about 16 hours total over 8 days SUMMARY The ship is too crowded and there are way too many lines no matter where you go. You will wait forever to get a drink and good luck getting anybody to serve you at the pool area. We tipped our guy $20 out the gate to ensure he came back and we never saw him again. The cabins are cramped and a weird design which wouldn't be a problem if that wasn't the only place you could go to get away from the crowds. There were some highlights though. Tortola is absolutely beautiful. Do yourself a favor and skip the crowds at the baths and book a shared charted with Adventure Charters BVI. That was the highlight of our trip. One of the other downsides of this trip was the fact that we were only in St Thomas for 4 or 5 hours and the lines to get back on the ship were horrible. Norwegian does not know how to move large amounts of people on or off the ship. I'm not sure why they can't figure that out. Read Less

We booked this as a family spring break trip. Upon getting to the port, the lines were long and the process was slow. Once on the ship, the overall service was extremely slow (for everything). It was difficult to see any shows due to the long lines. The food was mediocre at best. There were some good things, like the band 4 Blue, but that is about as far as it goes. The premium drink package is a joke. You have to pay extra for bottled water, sports drinks and specialty coffee. Also, it was extremely difficult to get a drink at times, as if the wait staff was told to limit the guests. Upon return, disembarkation was amazing. Despite a long line, it went very fast. This is the second and the last large ship cruise for us. After cruising with Celebrity, Princess, Royal Caribbean and MSC, I can’t say I would come back to NCL. Read Less

After boarding ship and going to our cabin the very first thing we saw was a used condom on the balcony. Then the hangers were piled on the closet floor and a used bar of soap from the previous guest was left in the shower. Those were the main things in addition to some other minor issues,,, We understand things happen and were expecting the staff to immediately handle the situation, but 12 and 15 year old children still don't understand why or what a condom is doing in our cabin. Not happy at all. Once housekeeping was called and given a chance to correct the issues the steward supervisor said someone would come clean it and just walked away. I asked him to take the condom with him, but he just left. Then I went to the guest services desk and after a 19 minute wait were greeted by the housekeeping supervisor who said they will get there to clean the room again soon. That day there were no considerations made and there was no sense of urgency to correct. Worst of all there was no closure, empathy, nor follow-up from management. It was not until the third day of our vacation that I asked about the issue at the front desk and if there was closure. Unfortunately, it took e showing the photos and the likelihood that 'd share an honest review online that I finally got the attention. In my opinion, there is not must that can be done to correct the condom found on the balcony by our children. GiGi, assistant Housekeeping Manager offered a $100 obc which we declined and they posted anyway. This was our third Norwegian cruise Getaway 2016 and Escape 2017 (RCL Oasis was 2018). Not a great start to our annual vacation. Overall, the vacation was good and even the worst cruise experience can be a great vacation. 7 great sunrises and 6 great sunsets... Friday night sunset was missed due to a dinner reservation and late departure from Nassau. The "waterfront" deck is one our favorite parts of the ship. Entertainment was good overall: Havana was "ok", Jersey Boys was very good, Hypnotist Richard Barker was awesome, and the music around the ship was good as well. Dining was "average" a best: service better than expected and food quality hit or miss. The buffet and main dining rooms were good/average food quality. The premium dining in Le Bistro and La Cucina were great. Unfortunately, Cagneys was again a bit of a let down :( It seems like there have been cuts on food costs and quality has suffered a bit. Ports and excursions were as expected. Eighth time to St Tomas and our first excursion to Megans Bay. Tortola was or third time and just walked around town a bit. Nassau has one of the prettiest sail in and away, but usually we stay on the ship in Bahamas :) Our kids 15 and 12 were very excited about the go-carts and laser tag. Unfortunately, the week passes were sold out before the sail away. We paid for a couple laps around the racetrack, but at $10 per person per 5-7 minutes was not a good value in their opinion (or mine since I paid). The real estate used for racetracks and laser tag was a sacrifice of other areas which were omitted or cut back. We will not likely choose another cruise with either go-carts or laser tag. I guess to wrap up this review, stuff happens. Sometimes people are disgusting and leave used condoms on balconies. When I purchased / reserved our seven day cruise I put my trust in Norwegian Cruise Line and their ability to clean up after disgusting people's behaviors. The worst thing about the whole thing is the lack of response, empathy, or care. Hopefully, this review and others may affect change with Norwegian and the way they handle future situations. We unfortunately went at a very bad time of the year. The ship was sold out. No room upgrades. We only made it to one show and that was because we waited in the standby line for 30 minutes. The specialty dinning location were full which meant the coupons we had were useless (dinning package). We did get into the ocean but that's an upcharge. . You can plan on taking 5 + minutes to get a drink too. The bars are packed. You'll eventually find a bar that isn't as busy. The smoking area was confined to a very small section of the H2O area and was closed periodically. Not a ship if you're a smoker. The food wasn't that great at the Ocean (small portion, cold), Smokehouse (expected better food, cold and band wasn't to my liking). The Garden Café was OK but the ice cream section was often closed and you have to wait in line...always. Observation deck is nice, quiet. But the best seating was always taken. (you know... book, towel, shoes holds the spot.) I wish the photographers would back off. There in your face a lot. The Brittan's Finest Band was good. (best Beatles cover band I've seen). St. Thomas, and Nassau were good shopping port but Tortola is still recovering. The worst was getting off the ship the last day. The lines were unbelievable. We got in a line we didn't need to for 20 minutes because there was insufficient direction once you got into the port. I think NCL has to get the reservation system working better. People get reservations for venues and then don't use them. You'll walk by a nearly empty venue but yet can't get in. I'd like to see NCL give us some insight on when to expect lineups and when not too. I would consider a cruise on a different date or option for the Heaven. Read Less

We booked this cruise about 1 year ago, paid a lot for 5 rooms and kept getting invites to bid for upgrades, meanwhile on other lines they typically upgrade at no costs, needless to say we ended up on the 5th floor paying for an ocean view what the balconies costs, that wasn’t the biggest issue if you do not pay even much more to upgrade to the haven which is actually floors that are private that include a large pool, including a lap pool 4 large hot tubs a restaurant and a beach club, this space taken out of the ship makes this ship severely crowded and hardly anyone was using the havens private facilities. Impossible to get a lounge chair at the crowded adult pool every day. Food was good but service was average, At Cagneys they sat us in the bar and fed us dry filet mignons that we’re prepared, this was our third ncl cruise so we know the key differences. The ship Oversold the escursions, we know it would be a busy week but on larger ships are manageable but not when the space is limited by the poor architecture designed to separate guest this does not work and we paid way too much money to feel like second class citizens. We know there are suites and clubs that can be restricted but not 1/4 of the ship which took away from our experience and many others we get left with average service and overcrowding, this was our least favorite cruise out of 25 Read Less

We were treated poorly at the station we were at to get on the ship. Just very poor from a couple of personnel on the ship to two poor on-shore trips. Not real happy with the cruise director, and how games and fun was handled and how they handled themselves. Our on shore trips in St. Thomas and the Dominican Republic were sub-par. The trip to the beach in St. Thomas was not a good trip, and we didn't have time to do what we signed up for in the Dominican. The recreation areas on top of the ship were excellent. The rooms were fine, the food was fine, and most of the crew was fine. I'm an art collector of local art, and I purchased some really good native pieces at each port. All this being said, we have traveled Carnival a couple of times, and we felt this was the worst outing so far. Read Less

We choose this cruise because of the itinerary and the value. We have cruised many of the major cruise lines and have NEVER had a bad experience. This ship lack personality, service and friendliness. What was good on this ship was the shows, the coffee and the photography was outstanding. The room was clean and roomy enough for 2, the service was very good there. This is the only line that attempts to charge you for extras, the zip line, games ect. The food in the dining room was fair but not outstanding or timely by any means. The food in the buffets was not appealing, tasty or satisfying at all. Most of the time you had to clear your own table or look at food on the ground, VERY Unsatisfied with the overhaul cruise. I will not every recommend of book another one . I actually attempted to reach to to MSC direct and got not even a courtesy call back . Read Less

My wife and I are 3* HAL loyalists. We have gone a winter Caribbean cruise every year for the last 25 years or so. Over the last 15 years we have only sailed on HAL as we enjoy the traditional cruising style of HAL as opposed to the mega-ship vibe. We chose the Oosterdam western cruise this year. Have not been on the Oosterdam previously but have been on Zuiderdam and most classes of HAL ships over the years. For the first time we were disappointed in HAL. We were on the March 2 sailing. We splurged for a Neptune Suite. Embarkation was a breeze. It was probably 15 minutes from Lyft ride to boarding the ship. The ship itself was impeccable. Our suite was in perfect condition. Here is a list of our disappointments: 1. Food - we had fixed dining 2nd seating. As always the service was great. I have always defended HAL's food quality over the years - but not this time. Examples included a pepper pot soup that consisted of over cooked bits of yesterdays short ribs covered by a dilute beef broth. A cat fish fillet that you could find in your Krogers frozen food section in a box and the fillet part of my "surf and turf" was an embarrassment - must have 3 oz and a hamburger patty would have been more flavorful. 2. $10 surcharge - My wife wanted the veal chop the night of the surf and turf but asked for a lobster tail to go with it. We were charged $10 for an "extra entree". Really? Felt like a slap in the face. 3. Promenade deck - we enjoy our walks around the deck. 90% of the time it was closed off for some maintenance such that you could not circle it completely. 4. Food - back to food: no chilled soups, no smoke fish, no baked Alaska. HAL food seems to be becoming very homogenized and bland 5. Shore excursions: overpriced as usual. The one we took in MoBay included being jammed into a small minibus to the point where I had to sit on a jump seat for an hour. The advertised 4 hour trip to a plantation house took us 6 hours. 6. Ports of call: why do they stop at Montego Bay anyway? Absolutely nothing to do there that did not involve and excursion. Cayman was cancelled. Cozumel - tourist trap. 7. Entertainment: there was no mainstage entertainment the first night out. No production shows. On the plus side, the crew and waitstaff were as friendly and gracious as always. The ship was in impeccable condition. The Lincoln Center shows and BB King were excellent. The America's Test Kitchen was great HAL seems to be getting rid of the things that made them different. With declining food quality and never ending surcharges, we are thinking about doing something different next year rather than a HAL cruise. And we are sad about that. Read Less

Women’s dry sauna was registered at 230 degrees wet sauna had no steam (reported it twice) never changed all week Numerous medical emergencies. Rust filled Lido deck, broken down elevators. Entertainment suitable for the gereatrics ward. Save your money because Carnival doesn’t care. Day 2 man died in E37 and family members crying and screaming. People near the room confused as man brought out wrapped in towels and rushed down the hall into the elevator. Zero words said to the customers standing in hall way. No one knows if there are physically or medically safe and Carnival only paste a red sign on the door saying “do not enter under authoring of the captain”. Red tape across the lock. Upon debarkation, federal and local law enforcement outside the room. This is a low budget cruise. SAVE YOUR MONEY! Read Less

This was my first cruise, so I didn't have anything to compare it to. That being said, I've stayed at many high quality all-inclusive resorts. I was very disappointed by the Bliss, the staff, and the overall cruise. Firstly, the staff looked MISERABLE. No one was happy. I felt like a burden to the waiters and bartenders when ordering. No one had a smile on their face and when it was time for me to place my order, I was pointed to and oftentimes not even talked to. It felt like a hole-in-the-wall bar on a busy Saturday night. The layout of the cruise ship and lack of elevators was maddening. Most of the restaurants were in inconvenient locations and were LOUD. This ship needs many more elevators. We often gave up after 5-10 minutes of waiting and took the stairs. Next, the casino was an absolute sham. The dealer at the roulette table missed my winning bets TWICE and the blackjack dealer was tipping off other patrons at my table. I've never seen this type of thing before. It was absolutely sickening. Next, the pool area was a joke. There was ONE pool for 4200+ passengers and ALL of the chairs were filled up all day, every day. I hated how the hot tubs were an afterthought and tucked away from the pool. They--no surprise--were also always filled up. The shops on board were a complete rip-off. The prices were super inflated and the employees were rude. They all-but rolled their eyes when I asked to negotiate a price. NONE of the staff members were memorable, approachable, or friendly. NONE. It was like I was a guest at a busy restaurant and was an inconvenience to them. I didn't feel welcomed. Also, I never once met my room caretaker. I didn't even know his name, or did he even wave to us when we were around. I was also very disappointed by the port stops and excursions. I didn't at all feel like I got my money's worth. All of the port shops were tourist traps and were way too expensive. No one there was friendly either. Furthermore, it was NEVER explained which ports required an ID for re-entry into the boat or what to expect at every stop. As a first time cruiser, I could've easily forgotten my ID and then not allowed back on the boat. I was not prepared for this. The entertainment was awful. If it wasn't for Jersey Boys, I'd call it high-school drama level. I left this boat frustrated, ripped off, nickle-and-dimed and completely unsatisfied. It makes me never want to cruise again and that deeply saddens me. Pros: * Dining options * Great food, all the time * Go-Karts * Jersey Boys was great * Great, clean balcony room * Beautiful ship * Onboarding/Offboarding was quick and easy * Great wifi Cons: * Unhappy, defeated staff * Service was slow and sloppy * Casino was a sham * On-board shops were a scam * Ports were forgettable * Not enough elevators. Not even close * Pool area was small and lacking. No chairs available * The entertainment was downright embarrassingly bad * Daily activities were poorly put together and lacking in quality * Ship layout was...weird... to say the least Read Less
