Norwegian Sky Cruise to Cuba 10/23/17

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Norwegian Sky

We took the Norwegian Sky Cruise to Cuba 10/23-10/27. For a 4 night cruise it was a bit expensive, but our goal was to visit Cuba and this trip fit the bill. We looked at a few other cruise lines, but some went for only one day, some went for two days but left at 8 a.m. or 1 p.,m. on the second day. This cruise arrived at 8 a.m. the first day and left at 4:30 p.m.on the second day so we chose ...

I booked this cruise for my mother to see the Bahamas. She lives in Russia and had very limited time here in US. This 4-night cruise was supposed to stop for one day in the Bahamas. On the morning of the day that were supposed to be in the Bahamas, they told us that we are not going to the island because of the weather conditions. The weather was amazingly nice, calm, and sunny that morning ...

2nd time on the Sky (OG 8219)

The service has gone down a good deal since 2016 with all the new staff that we interacted with. Family in the Haven owners suite saw OUR steward (porthole room) more then their own concierge. Their butler was good however, just not as good as 2016. Plus their hottub was down for maintenance the whole trip. Our room, 8219, was clean though carpet was more stained then our first cabin from ...

Great Visit to Cuba

Was very happy to see Havana, but wanted everyone to know a few changes since I checked the boards prior to our cruise. You no longer need to get up early to obtain a pass to get off in Havana. They must have gotten better at disembarking there and even without booking a shore excursion through the ship, we were off and in Havana by 8:30. We walked around a bit by ourselves since our privately ...

Cuba good, Stirrup Cay unknown

We chose this cruise so we could do a photo tour in Cuba with the old buildings and cars. We got some great pictures of the reality of how 'great' communism works. We missed Stirrup Cay with only a sail by due to high winds. This ship had the best crepes and ice cream and a great cabin steward from India..The food was good except Cagney's was a disappointment compared to the Cagney's on Pride ...

Booked just to see Havana

As frequent cruisers, we had never cruised on NCL previously so did not know what to expect. We agreed beforehand that whatever NCL did/did not have to offer was secondary because we just wanted to go to Havana and spending as much time as we possibly could in Havana - that was important to us. Arriving one morning and departing the following afternoon was just perfect for us to experience as ...

This was our first cruise, so although I have nothing to compare it to, I did expect a bit better. The first problem we encountered was a note in our stateroom saying the excursion we had booked for the following day was cancelled due to lack of take-up. I had until 23:00 p,m, to book something else. Not very helpful when you don't embark until 23:45 p.m. so to late to re-book. The stateroom ...

Cuba on Cruise Lite

My wife and I picked this carnival cruise because it was one of the few that spent overnight in Havana. Overall we give the cruise three stars but I must say that Havana is a prime destination. Here’s why. Initial boarding at the Tampa cruise terminal was no problem. Because of a back up in Tampa Bay the cruise left two hours late. Apparently this boat has some mechanical problems and ...

Loved Havana!

How much longer?

We chose this cruise to celebrate my birthday by visiting Cuba. My only regret was not realizing that every other week the time in Havana changed for the second day, so the week we chose did not have the longer second day in Havana. We are a husband and wife from NH in our late 50's and traveled with another couple. Havana! We chose to book a private tour with Blexie ...

Booked a last minute deal as a Solo traveler

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Norwegian Sky

I actually booked a last minute deal on this website, Cruise Critic after following a link from Facebook. The teaser rate was $279, add the taxes and port fees, bumps it to $440, but wait, you aren't done-- add another $75 for the Cuban visa and $19 a day for the mandatory service (gratuities) charges. Still, a 5 day cruise as a solo traveler for around $600-ish is a pretty great deal! This deal ...
