We chose this cruise because it was going to Cuba. We felt we should go before the United States decided to limit our ability to travel to Cuba. This did happen several months after our cruise. The only draw back to the cruise was we miss a port due to weather conditions.
The ship and excursions were great. There are many great places to sit, relax, and enjoy a cocktail. The food was ...
Wonderful cruise. Great staff, great food, excellent wines, good excursions, well-informed guides. All good except they cancelled the Santiago de Cuba stopover at the last minute, claiming that they might be able to get into the Santiago bay, but not get out due to "winds".... Well, we were not convinced. Viking did provide a $500 credit we can apply to a future cruise, but you know what, what if ...
Review - Cabin 9004, MS Opera
I approached this cruise with some trepidation, I’d read dozens of negative - some scathing - reviews of the MS Opera here on Cruise Critic.
I figured that there were more than fifty negative reviews for a ship that carries over two thousand passengers a week, I’d brazen it out.
I was pleasantly surprised.
My cabin steward was cheerful and friendly, ...
This was my first cruise and last. Truthfully I am the type that enjoys this however want to say the staff was extrely good. From the bars to the table. A gentleman was st my table and he had issues with his meal and was immediately taken care of. The captains on the floor was contumely checking over the floor. I enjoyed the food and it was nice not great. Many season cruisers complained. The ...
We chose this cruise because we were interested in seeing Cuba, as well as we were looking forward to getting away from cold winter weather. We have traveled on both Viking River and Viking Ocean and loved both. The Viking Star did not disappoint. From the moment we embarked we were treated wonderfully. We stayed in a deluxe veranda, which was a nice size. Our room steward was very attentive ...
After saving our money and paid time off for over three years, my husband and I were excited for our cruise to Cuba with Viking, who had shown us stellar service on their Paris to Normandy river journey in 2015. We were a little hesitant at first, seeing that Viking had changed the itinerary on folks that booked in 2017 from Havana to Cienfuegos, but figured the team had it sorted ...
We wanted to see Cuba without experiencing some of the issues with land based hotels. We did end up staying in Melia Cohiba in Havana due to the Cuban government changing our docking from 2 days to 5 hours. Cruise directors managed to book buses and hotel rooms for everyone...so instead of 1-1/2 days of cruising from Cienfuegos to Havana, we took a 3-1/2 hour bus ride and stayed in a "5 Star" ...
Had a great time on this cruise cruise director gave a very informative talk about Cuba before we got off Cruise director and his staff were wonderful we had the best time of any cruise The cruise director staff is wonderful they go above and beyond the ship did not feel small the bars and public areas are not cramped and very open we did not have any problems finding a table in the buffet thay ...
We were the first cruise after dry dock, and although there were a few hiccups, it was nothing really terrible. The main issue was a delayed embarkation (they did not start loading until about 1:30), and the port personnel kept trying to keep everyone in one of the departure areas, problem being that people kept coming, and no one was leaving, and it got to be overcrowded. Eventually they opened ...
We chose this cruise solely for the overnight stay in Havana. This sailing was the first after 3 weeks in drydock, so I was THRILLED when I came on board to a completely refurbished ship! They did a beautiful job with the new, more contemporary decor, and I loved being one of the first to experience it. We found the service to be extremely friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend booking ...
