For the amount of money I paid to go on this cruise, I should have at least been able to sleep in a bed. I took my mom and sister on a cruise and I of course got stuck on a HARD pull out chair that blocked the bathroom and exit of cabin. If your family are frequent users of the restroom this situation isn’t ideal. BUT don’t complain to customers service because they ARE SO RUDE ! I have never been on a cruise and heard so many people complaining about the ustomer service. Every time I walked by there were 3 to 4 ppl complaining about, leaky showers, wet carpet, dirty showers, dark ash in toilets everytime you flush, lost baggage .. I mean how in the heck do you loose baggage on a cruise and send noticed to the other cabins the night before we dock ??? Really ! You should have been in every cabin the 1st night of sailing! By far the worse cruise I have ever been on and I cruise once or twice a year ! Terrible, the only thing this cruise had going for them are the waiters in the bar and sit down dining. Dinner is the restaurant were my only hilights other than that don’t go with a high expectation, this boat is also for seniors. Not for anyone under 40 Read Less

I was looking forward to this cruise because of the great ports - Key West and Havana. The ports didn't disappoint but the service did. We had cabin 5011, oceanview cabin. Location was perfect - right outside Guest Services, very convenient to everything. When we were finally allowed in our cabin, we opened the refrigerator to find a plate full of half eaten chocolate covered strawberries, a cup of yogurt with a spoon and one of the bottles of mineral water on the desk opened with half of it missing. Several calls to guest services were never answered and there was no card in our room with the name of the room steward so we had no way to notify anyone. We had a group on the ship with us and another couple were in cabin 5212 across the hall from us. Their toilet was filthy black. They called twice to report it - no one came to clean it. Later that night, I went to Guest Relations and reported the food in our fridge and the dirty toiler for our client. She got her toilet cleaned and a dish of truffles and champagne. We still had to throw out the food on our own and asked to have the bottle of water replaced. It never happened. Entertainment on the ship was surprisingly good. I am not a fan of production shows but the kids that did the shows were very good. They had a hilarious comedian do a short stint the first night but we never got to see him again because we were off the ship in Havana the night he was on and then his next show was at 11:30 on the last night of the cruise - when we were trying to get packed and ready to leave. Poor scheduling. The White Hot Party was a joke - again, held on the last night at 10 PM on a ship full of Senior Citizens who had to pack. There were more staff than guests. Day two we discovered my second handbag was missing from the cabin. We were told a new housekeeping crew got on the ship in Key West (and we finally found a card on day 3 with our new room stewards name).I had left it on the couch in the cabin because it has nothing but lipstick and about $20 in it so wasn't concerned about anything being stolen. I guess I should have. We reported it twice - Customer Service did nothing but take the report twice. We asked to see a supervisor. One finally showed up as we were getting off the ship for an excursion and I told him that we didn't have time to talk right then. When we came back to the ship and I went to guest services to tell them I was back - had to go through the entire story all over again, including a description of the bag yet again. Tuesday and Wednesday - the garbage was never emptied and our bed wasn't turned down and the daily newspaper wasn't left in our room. I had to go to Guest Services both nights to get a copy and again report the problems. A supervisor still never showed up. The cabins could use refurbishing. There was an old shower with the curtain that is 4" too short so water gets all over the floor and the curtain wraps around you while you are trying to shower. The dispenser for shampoo and soap is directly under the faucet, causing the shampoo to wash off your hand before you could get it into your hair. I finally learned to shut off the water so I could pump the shampoo and get it on my hair and lathered and then turn the water back on. We never received information on disembarkation or a letter that went to every guest looking for luggage for a guest who's luggage never made it onto the ship. The second to last night of the cruise they finally put a note in all cabins asking to be on the lookout for it. Except the cabins that our room steward cleaned. I spoke to other neighbors on our side of the ship and all of them reported the same issues - no garbage picked up or notices. Last day of the cruise, I finally see two people with our new cabin steward - who spoke very little English. A female told me she was the supervisor and they finally emptied our garbage. She told me to go to the desk and fill out a report for the stolen bag. Lucky me got a guy who was on his first cruise in Guest Services and had no idea what to do. It took 45 minutes for get this so called form filled out. I am still waiting for someone to contact me. The day we arrived in Key West, day 2 - disembarkation was a disaster. We were told we have to line up on the pool deck to obtain numbered tickets to get off the ship in Key West at 12:30. By 12:15 the line to pick up the tickets snaked throughout deck 11 and up the stairs to deck 12. You would think they would have started distributing earlier - nope. Waited until the last minute and there were arguments from people who were cutting the lines vs. those that had waited an hour for the tickets. We were in group one to get off and waited on deck 5 for the word. They might as well not have given out tickets. After the guests who had excursions were allowed to get off they just started directing EVERYONE to get off, regardless of the number they had. The pier was even a bigger mess. Hundreds of people were trying to find the transportation into Key West. There was no one from the ship guiding people. People with excursions were mixed in with people without excursions, fights were starting because no one knew where they were supposed to go. We were told to be up by 7:30 am the next day to get on line yet again to get tickets to get off in Havana. We wisely just slept late, ate breakfast at 9 AM and by the time we were ready to go ashore, there were no lines at all. The ship had been recently refurbished and I understand this was the first time the ship was doing this itinerary but there is no reason for housekeeping issues. And I can't blame the kid assigned to our room - I blame lousy supervisor for the problems we had. Unfortunately, everyone just put their head in the sand. Shore excursions are terribly over priced. We wanted to do a Class Car Ride - they were charging $375 per person. We found a company that meets OFAC requirements and paid $136 pp for a car. Tickets to the Buena Vista Social Club show were $165 pp on the ship - we walked to the club when we got off the ship in Havana and went directly o the restaurant and bought tickets for $35 that included 3 drinks. Do your homework and book your own excursions. . And we never saw the Captain on the ship. Ever. He never came out for the show that introduces all staff. It's the first time I ever saw no Captain at the party. Read Less

We wanted to go to Cuba and decided that a cruise would be best. We had sailed with RC before and had a positive experience. Unfortunately, that didnt happen this time. The ship is old and needs to be refitted top to bottom or retired. They claim that it was refurbished in 2016 but all we could see was the carpet was replaced. The staterooms are MINUSCULE, and have not been updated at all since the maiden voyage! Everything about the ship is old and outdated, with little to no activities, bad quality of food and customer service is non-existence. Day 1 - boarding took over 2 hours in line, their excuse first time to Cuba. Really? How about they don't know how to move people efficiently through the process. Day 2 - arrival into Cuba - pouring rain, didn't leave ship. Day 3 - Toured with private guide, came back to ship and once again had to wait 1 1/2 hrs in line to get back on the ship. Their excuse this time, sorry small ship only one door. Day 4 - Cozumel - toured on own, once again over 45 mins in line to get back on in the rain!! Day 5 - At sea, pouring rain activities around pool cancelled. Went to extremely overpriced art auction where they had people that already had purchased pictures, bidding on them again to drive up the price!! Day 6 - Disembark, 1 1/2 hrs to get off the ship, their excuse sorry taking longer than expected. They are complete incompetents, run don't walk away from this ship!! Read Less

We took this Cruise because of the Port of Call in Havana. I'm a loyalty member on Royal Caribbean and was very disappointed in the quality and the condition and the food on the Majesty of the Seas. The overnight in Havana was fabulous but I would take another ship if it was available. The ship was old and needed a cosmetic update and repairs. many of the staff members seemed inexperienced and not up to Royal Caribbean standards. hours were wasted and getting on and off the ship and the captain kept apologizing but to no avail. If you enjoy the casino you'd better be a heavy smoker. When the crew s if everything is okay and you have any issues it's a waste of time to reply. They take your cabin number down but never rectify the situation. There were a handful of Staff members that were worth giving kudos to. As a whole the staff was mediocre and not up to the service that you would expect from Royal Caribbean Read Less

Last week I traveled on the Oceania Sirena to Cuba out of Miami. This was my fourth Oceania cruise but the first in about ten years ago. I stopped cruising on Oceania for one simple reason, Destination Services. This is the part of the company that handles the excursions for Oceania. Ten years ago Destination Services blatantly lied to me about an excursion and after explaining to them how this excursion was totally misrepresented they still would not refund my money. Now, fast forward ten years, and I find out nothing has changed with Destination Services. First, I purchased for almost $1700 the unlimited excursion package for my wife and I. First mistake! On day one I learn that morning while getting my bus ticket the most important feature of an all day excursion has be eliminated. Then I find out on the bus the second most important feature of this excursion had also been cancelled. In the end we spent 10 hours on a bus and really only spent 15 minutes viewing a pretty valley. Oceania spent this full day wasting 35 peoples time and not giving us the experience we all paid for ($558 per couple). Second mistake! The next day we had a morning and afternoon excursion booked. I find out by accident the day before the afternoon excursion has been cancelled and we can only take one excursion because of scheduling issues. Third mistake! On the 7th day we find out after getting off the ship and tendering to an island ALL excursions had been cancelled because of anticipated storms. What a surprise, the storms didn't arrive until 9 hours later all the excursions could have taken place. Fourth mistake! In the end I was charged $606 for excursion experiences which I not not receive. BUYER BEWARE! If everybody had my same experience you can multiply my loss by over 650 people on the ship and you have a pretty good scam going. From my point of view and many others I talked to on the ship Destination Services lacks credibility and I can not recommend Oceania as a luxury cruise line. They are a wanna be luxury cruise line and because they still nickel and dime on expenses, make you pay separate for premium liquor, excursions and gratuities they will never be in the same class as Crystal, Seabourn, Silver Seas and Regent. My boyfriend booked this cruise for us as a surprise late Valentine's Day gift along side his dad who purchased the same for his step-mother. Very upset that he wasted so much money on such a let down of vacation. As a whole the four of us would never recommend this ship and we will not sail Royal Caribbean again. Royal Caribbean's check in was quick and efficient; but that is about the only positive comment I can make. Most of the staff didn't make any efforts to get to know you as a passenger. The only staff that made efforts were in the Starlight dining room for dinner time, the Windjammer Bar and Boleros Bar. The cabins are a tad smaller than most other cruise cabins. In the end of the day their main purpose is just to shower and sleep but there was still hardly enough room for two people to fit comfortably. Plus, our room had belongings of previous passengers (a shirt, glasses and stationary) when we first arrived to it which makes me question the true cleanliness of it. The overall cleanliness of the boat was a little concerning. I received drinks in dirty glasses a couple times and some of the dishes for self serve meals were dirty upon picking them up. The hallways often smelled of feces or dirty wet carpet. One of the main bathrooms in the lobby, which includes three total stalls, had poop on the toilet seat of one stall, urine on the toilet seat of the next stall and blood smeared on the third stalls toilet seat. Also was physically hurt not once but twice on this ship; the first time the back panel of one of the main lobby toilet stalls fell off the wall and came crashing down onto my calf and foot and the next I burnt my hand on a hot food display that was no where labeled or indicated that it was hot. The food throughout the entire boat was sub-par. This including breakfast and dinner in the Starlight dining room, breakfast in lunch in Windjammer and dinner in Chops Grille. There wasn't much of a selection of food and the selection was just about the exact same day to day. There weren't many activities or entertainment options offered and if they were, they were often double booked so something was cancelled (in my case most of the options in which I was interested in seeing were those which were cancelled). The service was okay. Nothing amazing worth mentioning. The three passengers I traveled with and myself have all been to Cozumel before so we did our own touring and sightseeing off the ships recommendations. We did do an excursion offered by the boat in Cuba, a walking tour which included a cigar and rum tasting, which was amazing. The transportation and guides were great. Overall bottom line is no, I would not cruise again with Royal Caribbean. We were excited to give the cruise line a shot since we usually sail with Carnival, but if anything this trip made us more loyal and frequent customers of Carnivals. Read Less

I recently traveled to Cuba on the Norwegian Sky. This was my first time on Norwegian (I usually cruise Carnival). Firstly, I was disappointed that the cruise was advertised as two days in Cuba. Yes, I understand that I dropped the ball in reading the small details but why even advertise it that way. I spoke with several others on the ship who thought the same as I did. It was deceiving. In the future, list day 1: Cuba, day 2: at sea, etc. The check in process was pretty exceptional. Possibly because this was a smaller ship but getting on board was a breeze. Two thumbs up for that. Upon getting on the ship, we went straight for the food......which was mediocre. I was hoping it was only the first lunch but the trend of bad food continued for the duration of the trip. I’m am not a picky eater by any means and I was not satisfied. When we boarded we made reservations at the steak house for the last night. All week we were looking forward to it because the other food was so poor. Thursday night came and we were served two medium rare ribeyes grilled to perfection....But they were bland. I will say, the shrimp cocktail appetizer with the homemade sauce was delicious but everything else....blah. I lost 4 pounds while on this vacation. That should speak for itself. The entertainment on the ship was lacking. There was only one show at a time and a few of those were even cancelled. Maybe this is typical for Norwegian, but again, I’m accustomed to Carnival ships where there are so many options you can’t even choose just one. The shows that were available were hardly even entertaining. However, there was ONE. The dance competition (like dancing with the stars) was phenomenal. Sonny and Ms Delores made that show the highlight of my trip. Kudos to them! I would also like to suggest having some type of entertainment at the Great Stirrup Cay island. At minimum, place speakers around the beach so the music can be heard by all. What else?.....the casino. Well, I can honestly say that I have NEVER been charged a fee to spend my money in a casino. Norwegian charges a daily service fee for me to give them my money. Outrageous! Just when we were ready to pack our bags and leave Norwegian behind us, we headed to the gift shop to collect some last minute gifts. At be register, we were told our account was closed. This was baffling because the card on file had more than enough credit available. Plus we hadn’t purchased anything but a case of water since boarding. The clerk stated she didn’t know why but sometimes this “just happens”. The guest in line behind us stated that it happened to him on his last cruise. Once at guest services, they were able to quickly rectify the situation but also could not offer an explanation as to how or why the account was even closed. They only knew that it had been closed the day before. This was inconveniencing and could have been a much more embarrassing situation had we not gone to the gift shop before visiting the steakhouse. Overall, the Norwegian Sky was a disappointment. I’ve concluded that perhaps I am too active for this cruise line. Maybe Norwegian is mainly for those who want to go on vacation and do absolutely nothing. I go on cruises to be entertained and enjoy myself. The best feature of the ship was the open bar special and even that isn’t enough to encourage me back onto a Norwegian Cruise ship. Read Less

We reserved a room for 3. Me, my wife and our daughter. The first night, when we went to our room, we could not get to the bed. The "third bed" was a pull out foam couch that completely filled ALL open floor space. The only way to the bed or from the bed to the bathroom was ACROSS this third bed. We paid more money for the third person than for the first two. We've been on a lot of other cruises and this is the first time we've seen this arrangement. It was not revealed at booking and needs to be made OBVIOUS to everyone. There were several others with the same complaint at customer service that night. It is just GREED on the part of Norwegian Trying to get 3 people in a room designed for 2. On the plus side, the open bar was great, staff was great, very friendly, Cuba was great. Boat is old and small, very limited activities. Most of them revolve around Norwegian making money. Food was a disappointment. If you are a chocolate lover and a purist as I am, it was impossible to get chocolate anything without raspberry or some other jelly type filling layered in. We will NEVER CRUISE NORWEGIAN AGAIN. I chose this NCL cruise because I had such an excellent experience on NCL Escape in 2016, and wanted to visit Cuba. This cruise, versus the NCL Escape cruise, was as different as night and day. This was my thirty-fourth (34) cruise and I primarily sail Solo. Getting There: Booking this cruise through NCL's website and talking with staff at NCL Customer Support was a mini nightmare. Staff could not answer some of the questions about visiting Cuba. There is a $75 additional fee for a Tourist Visa to visit Havana, but this information was not put up front when booking the cruise. Only after completing the booking did you receive information about the $75 fee, where to find and how to complete the appropriate form, and NCL's notification that they were increasing gratuities to $20.00 per day per person, YIKES! Additionally, I learned 2 days into sailing that NCL Sky is a drinking ship where drinks are included, hence the high cost of my ticket. I DO NOT drink. All of this information should have been UP FRONT. To add insult to injury, NCL did not offer me a Solo Rate for this cruise although they do have Solo Rates. I was talking to another cruiser only to learn he was given a Solo Rate, paying $800 less for his ticket than I paid for mine. I was not happy. The Ship: Excellent job by staff keeping the ship clean. I had an Porthole Cabin on Deck 8 which I found to be quite small, but functional. TV reception was not as good as it should have been though. I did not eat in the main dining room but took all my meals in the Buffet restaurant. Food there was mediocre at best - nothing like the wonderful, high quality food in the both the complimentary and Speciality Restaurants I ate in on the Escape. I had planned to eat in at least one Speciality Restaurant but decided not to primarily because of the cost of my cruise ticket. From time to time NCL Sky did run out of some foods. Service, however, was good. Activities were par for the course, and entertainment was varied and enjoyable. Cuba: I hope to visit this port again because there is so much to see. The 3-1/2 hour excursion NCL offered was costly and didn't offer a good variety (although it looked good on paper). I will be using another cruise line for a more diverse tour. I did walk around Havana town for 3 hours, visiting gardens, squares, statutes, an art gallery, lobbies of buildings, and stores where I purchased souvenirs. I walked up and down streets, into side streets, taking loads of pictures and all the while feeling perfectly safe to do so. I truly enjoyed Havana and look forward to visiting again in the very near future. Great Stirrup Cay: I was disappointed in this private island. Beach chairs were crowded together with little or no space between them, and there were lots and lots of beach chairs. No hammocks and not much else to see or do. We did have lunch on the island and there were some activities to be had ($). Items in the little shopping area were quite expensive for a private island. Royal Caribbean and Disney have much nicer private islands with more diversity. Embarkation and Disembarkation was one of the smoothest and easiest I've every experienced. Because there were no directional signs, it was a bit confusing as to where to get off but otherwise went very well. While I will definitely go to Cuba again, I will most likely NOT sail NCL again. I am glad I had a previously wonderful experience with NCL on Escape but I can honestly say I do not like the way NCL does business regarding the Sky Cuba cruise and the exorbitant prices they are charging because it's Cuba. Port Charges are currently $167 per person. So beware that this is an all-inclusive drinks ship (if you do not drink), that gratuities are $19.99 per person/per day, and that there's a Tourist Visa $75 fee each time you visit. Do visit Cuba though, it is a delightful place to see. Read Less

I chose this cruise because of the itinerary. The ship was old and left a lot to be desired. The cabin, while adequate, was not up to RCCL standards. My cabin steward, Sharon, was excellent. Although she was overworked, she not only met my expectations, but went above them. The food was mediocre at best. I have sailed with RCCL in the past and this was not up to the standards I expected. Except for in the Schooner Bar, I had to chase down waiters to get a drink. The entertainment was lacking. Again not up to the levels I expected from RCCL. Except for my cabin steward and my dining room waiter, who tried hard to please me, the service was poor or lacking. Some of the personnel were even surly. This ship is understaffed and the crew seems overworked. The one port we visited was interesting. The shore excursions were good but definitely over priced. While i would like to go to Havana again, I will NOT go with RCCL. In fact, I think this will be my last RCCL cruise. Read Less

I’m an avid cruiser this was worst experience I’ve EVER had. We were not able to go to port, room service charged, maintenance consistently done on ship, was turned away from activity we paid for, ship offers unusual amount of paid onboard activities, staff quotes different prices for same onboard activities, pipe burst hot water off, sanitizer stations often empty. Upper Hallways smelled of sewage. Staff not on same page many came across as stiff and uninformed. Sells tactics is pushy on this ship. Medical emergency means nothing to these people other than another possible pay day. Food not as described on menu, but tasty. Dining menu pretty redundant no lobster night as Royal often offers. Cocktails weak usually $10-$12 per drink. Juices $3.50. Tips automatically included with every onboard purchase. Rooms could be cleaner saw visible dirt on doors and shower. Let me start by saying that I absolutely hate giving bad reviews for anything, but our experience on this ship was so below par that I had to say something, even if it's just to make future cruisers aware. My boyfriend and I have been on about 6 cruises together, on RCI (Vision of the Seas), NCL, and Carnival. We've had excellent experiences on every one of them. We knew going in that this was a smaller, older ship, but it was a shorter itinerary and we were dying to see Cuba. RCI isn't generally our first choice, but this was the only ship that was offering Havana overnights. Our expectations weren't super high, but we at least expected to have a fun, laid back, relaxing trip. Let's start with the good: Embarkation wasn't bad. We arrived at the Tampa port around 12 and was on the ship by about 1. Room was ready and luggage was already delivered, so big plus there. They also allow two bottles of wine and/or champagne per stateroom. Our dining room waiter (a gentleman from Indonesia, I'm sorry but I can't remember his name) and waitress (Rose from South Africa) were excellent, sweet, and very accommodating. The food in the main dining room was also very tasty. Fruits at the buffet tasted fresh and sweet. Activity wise, the karaoke had a good selection of songs. The two live bands, Acapulco Gold (Latin music) and Buzz Station were also great! We did plenty of salsa, merengue, and bachata this trip. The nightclub was also fun and hopping most nights, and the DJ played a variety of music, from house, to rap, pop, and Latin. And Havana was worth the trip. Beautiful city with tons of history and things to learn. People are very, very nice. Cute vintage cars everywhere. It's most definitely a city stuck in time and a fascinating place to visit. And of course, it helps if you can converse in Spanish. And due to inclement weather in Cozumel, we ended up staying an extra night. Havana has fabulous nightlife if you know where to go. Now, the bad: As other reviewers have mentioned, the boat was very, very rocky. I've only gotten motion sickness once in my life, when I was in my early teens, but I suffered from some really bad nausea for a good three days. There was also an awful, loud rolling/banging noise coming from outside our room (like a barrel or cart rolling around and crashing into walls) every twenty minutes, nonstop and all night. Woke us up a few times and combined with the constant rocking, made it nearly impossible to sleep through the night. A lot of the staff didn't seem very happy, and some of them were borderline rude (we are not demanding people whatsoever). My boyfriend came down with a sore throat and the general store was closed. We called our steward to ask if they had mouthwash. Another lady answered, and we were abruptly told they don't know what mouthwash is, and then she proceeded to hang up on him. We tried calling again and our steward told us they had no mouthwash available and that we had to go to the medical facility to get it. Also asked for an iron and was told it was a fire hazard and was unavailable. Meanwhile, every other cruise we've been on has had irons for us to use. Barely saw our room steward the entire trip. And for example, two people in the entertainment staff came off downright rude (like one of them pretending to shoot himself while a group of ladies were singing karaoke, or demanding that another gentleman sing his song a certain way, and making comments like "thank God it's the last night of the cruise and of karaoke". Another lady came off as very impatient and short tempered when directing activities). Food at the buffet was mediocre and generally served the same thing every day, so not much variety. Also didn't feel so great after eating there, at times. Entertainment was lacking and also mediocre. Shows were outdated and so-so, and we barely wanted to stay for the whole thing, but there wasn't much else to do. At times there was literally nothing to do but sit at the overcrowded pool. We had to skip Cozumel because of an incoming storm, so we ended up with 2 sea days. Other than refunding our excursions, they didn't offer any other kind of compensation. Not even going to another port, or staying in Havana a third night, or even just a few hours for a third day. Felt a little cheated because we paid for 2 ports and only got one, and heard some other cruisers complaining of the same. Where I'm from, this is poor customer service. And there isn't enough to do on the ship to entertain 2k+ people for 2 sea days. With all that being said, a few takeaways that hopefully will help someone else going to Havana for the first time: 1. The ATMs on board are closed when you're docked in Cuba. Found only one bank to take out money in Havana (my ATM card didn't work there, and I heard from a few other people that they had the same problem). Also, currency exchange is not open 24/7. And we didn't find one place that takes credit cards. Make sure you have enough CUC on the first day! 2. We were made to believe that we had to do a shore excursion, and that we couldn't get around the city on our own. And that if we didnt, we would get stopped at customs when going back into the States. So we ended up spending about $200 pp on two excursions, both of which weren't really worth it. Our first excursion was a 5 hour tour which was about 4 hours on a bus and one hour walking, A Day in Havana. Of course it was very limited as to what we could see, and we saw a lot of government buildings, and not much of what makes Havana exciting and unique. Our night tour was Legendarios de Guajarillos. The band was excellent but the whole experience was extremely uncomfortable. We were told we would get complimentary appetizers and drinks but only got one drink, and no food for the 2.5 hours we were there. Everyone was packed like sardines and there was no room to dance, until the very end when they invited the audience onto the stage. Meanwhile, other cruisers told us they just hopped in taxis and toured the city on their own. If we did it over, we would do just that. Much cheaper that way, and you can see the things YOU want to see. Highly recommended that you just do your own research and tours. Lesson learned the next time we go back to Havana. I'm sorry to say, but I don't think I will be traveling with Royal Caribbean again, unless it's on a newer ship and goes to unique destinations that Carnival and Norwegian don't also go to. Read Less

It is unfortunate that the Majesty of the Seas is one of the only ways for Americans to visit Cuba, because it is a small, old, failing ship that either needs to be broken down for scrap, have a massive renovation, or turned into a reef. Whole floors flooded, hot water pipes busted and rained down through ceiling and fixtures, toilets broke and more. There is also very little to do compared to larger boats, but that's not really something that can be helped. However, it got old VERY fast when our trip to Cozumel was cancelled due to weather and we were stuck at sea for days. Also, we paid for a hotel roof-top nightclub excursion in Havana, yet we were taken to some cabaret with a band and awful, cold food. After 2 attempts, I was finally able to get Guest Services to do something about it, but it was only a $30 refund for a $100 excursion. Not good enough. All in all, I am glad I went, as seeing and experiencing Havana was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and it was worth the hassle and hardships. However, having been on several Carnival cruises, I was not impressed by my first Royal Caribbean experience, and have always heard they were supposed to be better. I think if they want to stop tarnishing their brand they absolutely must do something about this boat, and change their policy on amending excursion issues, as refunding less than 1/3 of the cost is a slap in the face. The ship denied a $100 pre-paid gift card credit to our stateroom. Unacceptable. We had all the gift card info w us & they would not credit the room- saying that you need to register the card 72 hours prior to the ship cruise date. I know we weren't the only ones this happened to. The money is there & Gift Card confirmation in hand! The cruise line should have a system where they can accommodate a gift card on site! Many people work hard to be able to go on a cruise & also are incredibly busy with work & life before going on their vacation. The goal is to get away! Not have numerous issues when they start their vacation. Also, a pre-paid excursion that I had a confirmation for, the ship said we were not on the list so we could not go. In addition, I purchased an Anniversary package for my stateroom... again- cruise ship said, "We don't have that." I had a confirmation for this, as well. Guest Services seemed like they couldn't care less either. Really makes you think of other cruise lines to satisfy a nice, care-free, non-stressful vacation! (Ship- Majesty of the Seas) Read Less

We chose the ship to head to Cuba.We read the ship was recently renovated WE COULDN'T TELL.With expection to our main dining staff we often felt as though we were bothering them. In port at Cuba I used NCL cruise FREE wifi instead of the unreliable 14 dollar a day Royal Do not pick any room in 9160-9180 as you will be above a NIGHT CLUB that ends at roughly 2am. The photographs were a joke my 8 year old takes clear photos my group family photo the actually printed 3 photos with my sister in law eyes closed. The bartender at the schooner bar told me it was his first contract and he didn't like it and his attitude showed it to say the least. Chops booked my party of 17 but then made us all sit separately so much for a family dinner. To say my expectation of this cruise was far from met is nothing more than truth. Read Less

Disappointed is the operative word. Have cruised Royal in the past which is why we chose Majesty to Cuba. Casual is an understatement! Cut off shorts in the main dining room. Men in shorts and flip flops. The food was disappointing $16.95 extra for a filet. Formal night? Not really my husband brought his tux didn't wear it very few people in jackets and ties. The room was so small I was shocked. The mattress was so bad (one passenger said she slept on the floor). My cabin steward did find me a different one. The chairs in theaters and dining room were worn out. They do a good job of organizing though. Pains me to write this as we have always promoted Royal but our observations seemed to be the consensus. Upon debating a Royal employee said " Hope you had a good time and if you didn't Idon't want to hear it!" Read Less

After 22 years of fun sailing I feel it necessary to give my first negative review. My wife and I are Platinum Members and truly enjoy the perks we receive but this cruise started off wrong before we ever got on the ship and the problems continued afterwards. During our "Priority Check-in" our desk attendant froze the computer three times and each time needed an IT staff member to unlock his screen. Finally while trying to take my photo so I could get on the ship he locked the computer once again, only now he needed to provide his security number, which he forgot, to unlock the computer. Further delays while he and the IT officer went off to fix the issue. Bottom line we finally met up with our friends who went through general check-in and ended up waiting for us. Please note that problems during check-in lead to further problems two days later when I received a form letter from the Front Desk notifying me that I had to pay cash as there was no credit card on file. After ten minutes the Front Desk attendant, who was very polite, informed me that during my "check-in" the save button was not hit after I provided my credit card. She was able to correct this problem with no further issue. One of the nicest perks with being a Platinum Member is using having dinner in the extra charge dining rooms such as Cagney's. Too bad we didn't know this benefit does not apply on cruises under five days. We did go and the food was great as always but it would have been nice to know ahead of time what was and what wasn't covered. Loved Cuba, and the excursion was great even though the country is so very poor. But as of today 7/23/18 we have still not heard a word from NCL, nothing. We wrote them once right after the cruise, and emailed them. twice, but after six weeks still not one word, which as I mentioned to them is unacceptable. Update...finally received response from NCL after 35 days. Email was a combination of a form letter however there were a few personal entries referring to this cruise. A small future credit has been issued and it is appreciated. We are already booked on a future cruise for Thanksgiving and will probably go on another Baltic Sea Cruise next summer. We did the Baltic Cruise three years ago and had a wonderful time. Hopefully our experience with going to Cuba was a one time event as all of previous cruises were most enjoyable. Read Less

Chose bec advertised itinerary says tues- Havana, wed -Havana. The truth was Wed was a day at sea as they departed Cuba at 6 am. If not bad enough, they advertised Keratase treatment $49 in the daily flyer on the non Cuba day . Oh, no , the $49 is for a blow out. Keararase starts at $149! Thirdly, daily activity sheet said Yoga 12:00 on their private island, Great Stirrup Cay. No Yoga to be found and staff kept redirecting me to the other side of the beach area, although everything was visible from any view point. I gave up by 12:15 and 4 different replies. Deceptive advertising and NCL reps say don’t care! They also did not know a lot about regulations and Cuban customs ( re entering/ leaving). We brought lots of goods to distribute which we could not bring in! Other than that, the free drinks were nice and dining staff was excellent. Cabins were small so ocean view porthole was a lifesaver! Reading descriptors below reminded me of several complaining cabin doors were not wide enough for wheelchairs. Vinales valley tour was pretty but bring toilet paper and Clorox wipes. Cuba is a very very poor country. Read Less

NOTHING to do...all guest under the age of 80 hated it and couldn't wait to get off. Sub par shows where entertainers went through the motions. Most staff were good...2 stated to us the were board. No music, no life, no fun...they actually advertised being cheaper than a convalescent home....seriously. it was a convalescent home, who are they kidding. Cooking demonstration was a comedic act of buffoonery and a total insult. Wine tasting is 100.00, manicure is 100.00 get over yourself Oceania. Noon on sea day and the casino was closed because no one was playing. Snore fest on a dilapidated ghost ship with gross food. Excursions not at all what was advertised and many closed venues. They tried to have us snorkel in contaminated brackish water where dead fish floated on top and it smelled so bad it made me sick. Those who went in were surely ill. Read Less

Old ship, smelliest bathroom, couple of hours during the day there’s no were to Eat, no entertainment for kids under 3. Still the crew members were the greatest overall. Our bedroom hallway was flooded at a point during the cruise the smell was awful. Our bedrrom bathroom had the world worse urine stink and even when they cleaned it it would still stink. We traveled with friends and there were 2 kids with us and nothing for them to do beside the kiddie pool, the had this place next to the stairs with a playmat and couple of toys that was the only thing for them. During our whole day on water we went to the buffet to grB something to eat and it was closed and other people started arriving and told us there was no other place to eat on the ship and that it happened everyday during the same time of day. I decided to cruise solely for the destination of Cuba and chose Royal Caribbean over other cruise lines because I've had great experiences with them in the past as a client and as a travel agent. I know when cruising the shorter the cruise length the smaller and older the ship however I was expecting RCL to pick up their game a little. Two best friends in their late 20s had little to do on board. There was little entertainment and what was available was not good. We attended the comedy show (certainly not the best), saw the entertainers, and watched some game shows. The biggest saving grace was able to watch the World Cup while tanning. This is a great cruise if you want to catch up on sleep and get a lot of sun. The room was also nothing to be desired. The beds were falling apart and there was crud on the walls of the stateroom as well as the bathroom walls. I cannot say enough positives about the service! The people on board were incredible and very sweet, courteous, and overall just happy! Everyone appeared to really love their jobs. I had 2 wonderful servers in the main dining hall (whoever waited on table 477!). The food was so bad that we only ate in the dining hall for 2 nights before ditching it for the buffet for the remainder of the cruise. The waiters were gracious and tried problem solving but could not make it taste any better. The steak was grey and did not taste like meat. The Caesar salad dressing was gritty, the soup was extremely watered down, etc. Previous RCL sailings had much better quailty. So not sure what happened here! It was not edible. We did shore excursions in both the Bahamas and Cuba. Bahamas we did the Bahama Brews tour. SO MUCH FUN! Our tour guide was amazing, the beer was great, we got to eat while on the island :), and we met some other fun cruisers who have become friends! I was excited to get to Cuba, the main attraction! We booked late so many options were already full but we did the Best of Havana Express. Believe me, it is express. Our tour guide was NOT a morning person, so the first 2-3 hours were not the best. But after lunch at Hemingway's favorite restaurant, she really perked up and was phenomenal! We saw most sites from the bus and already passed them before we knew what they were so it was hard to get great pictures. We also went on a Sunday so some sites were closed or we did not have enough time to see them?? I did get some great Cuban products like cigars, coffee, and rum all for under $100! Over all, I would NOT cruise this ship again and definitely not recommend it to any friends, family, or clients. I think I may take a break from RCL for awhile. Read Less

We took this cruise to experience Cuba. Cuba was great! The ship, not so much. It is an older ship that shows its age. The staff was hard working and did their best to make the trip good but they don’t have a lot to work with. The food in the main dining room is bad. The strip steak has a funny texture, the ice cream is terrible, the desserts are not good at all. Despite that, service was really good. The ocean view room is tiny. The shower is itty bitty. The beds are hard as rocks. The Calvin stewards keep the rooms immaculate and are very friendly. I would not sail Royal Caribbean again. I did enjoy the spa. Got a great deal on a massage. We bought our excursion for Cuba from Old Cars Havana for 80 cuc. I contacted them on line. The guide was knowledgeable and the old Cadillac convertible was great. One tip is to get euros to exchange in Cuba. You will get a better exchange deal. Read Less

The Majesty of the Seas is the worst Royal Caribbean Cruise I have ever taken. I have been on many in the past and this cruise ship falls way short of Royal Caribbean's standards. The food and service was not up to cruises I have been on with Royal Caribbean in the past. The staff was like they were in a training mode. The bar service was very prompt and the bar areas was well maintained. Our tour guide was excellent and knew the history of Cuba and pointed out many interesting things about Cuba. which made the excursion more interesting. I would go to Cuba again but not on Majesty of the Seas. I know there are very few cruise ships going to Cuba so selections are limited but Royal Caribbean needs to improve the service and food selections on the Majesty of the Seas before I would take it again. I will continue to sail on Royal Caribbean because I like this cruise line. Read Less

We had an issue with the temperature of our Cabin being way too hot. We couldn't even stand to take showers and get ready at night as it was too hot. We called to have it fixed and 5-6 hours later nothing had been done. No one seemed to care and the lady that answered our call was rude to us. Customer Service dropped the ball. The food was not the greatest. Average to poor I would say. On the day of our shore excursion, literally as we are about to walk off of the ship in a line to go on our shore excursion they tell us we have to purchase another one for our son. Excursion was for classic car tour and they had told us when we booked it over the phone we only needed one. When inquiring and telling the employee on the ship that I was not paying this and that it was their mistake she was extremely rude in the beginning. Later she did remove the charge after we had an argument over who was in the wrong. This trip was for our son's Graduation and in a nutshell it was a HUGE disappointment. We will not choose Norwegian for any future cruises! Read Less
