The service was impeccable. When my husband stopped by Guest Services to pick up the Assistive Listening device they got overzealous and installed blinking lights and bed vibrator in the room. That was very kind but I didn't need all that ( and it changed the set up of the room) so they took it right back out. We loved having the assigned seating at 6pm. We loved having the same wait staff each night. I emailed special requests ahead of time---They were able to give us a private table away from the piano so I was able to enjoy without trying to explain my deafness to people They handled my food allergies easily. The main dining room was my something I looked forward to everyday. We loved every single thing about the size of this ship. We never felt crowded, never waited in line, never felt rushed. We asked Guest Services and they said it was fully booked and had 1600 people on board when we sailed. There are rumors about Royal taking it out of commission with Cuba off the table. I hope not-- I would sail this ship again in a heartbeat. The biggest surprise--- the teen club. As you know, they have little to nothing on the website about having a teen club. I was very, very worried that my 13 year old would be bored. We made him go to the teen meet and greet the first night promising to pick him up in 2 hours. We were thrilled to find out that instead of a dedicated room---they have a "roaming" teen club. Fabian had the kids all over the ship from morning until midnight. They played hide and seek, uno, scrabble, a scavenger hunt, went to the shows as a group and played a days long spy game called paranoia. My son was gone from sunup to curfew and had the best time. Added bonus--- no electronics were involved so it really was a throw back to the childhood of disconnect. I think Royal is missing a huge marketing opportunity and parents would sign up for this ship just to get their kids off the devices. Read Less

Port of Tampa was very easy port to get into and park. We had Priority Boarding went great on the ship and eating lunch in 10 min. Carnival Paradise is a smaller ship but has all the upgrades and easy to get around lines were very short every time. The food was the best that we have had on our last few cruises, it was good very good. The staff was very efficient and the ship was always clean and well maintained. Had an elevator go out but was fixed in one day. The only complaint we had was the same as all our resent cruises. Carnival need to be able to figure out the Dance Club. Either the club was not open or the music was for young people all the time. I would think that the cruise line could look at the age of the cruisers and play music that we can relate to. We understand playing music to all age group. We are smokers and this club is one of the three areas on the ship we can smoke but we either run into a locked door or the music is not something we like, and the DJ will not play music on request at all, if he does not like what you are asking for. Over all we had a great cruise and always recommend Carnival Cruise line to our friends Read Less

We had an amazing cruise. I give a 5 star for everything. If I had listened to some of the reviews, I would have missed out on this amazing experience. We were the last cruise that was able to go to Cuba and I can express how fortunate we were. We were given a really great room that had a window at the front, and a window at the side. There was a king and a pull down bed in the front room and a sofa bed in the other. The entertainment was top notch. Our teenagers insisted that we go to the shows each night (we didn't miss one). There were all good but our favorite was the Adam's family show. The food was amazing. Seriously, I think the pizza was the best I ever had. The gelato was amazing. We ate in the Marco polo dining room every night and the dining staff took great care of us. Our housekeeper kept our room spotless. If someone has a complaint about this ship, the food, the entertainment, the staff, or anything else, they really don't deserve to go on a cruise. What I liked most was that this was full of people from all over the world-who all went to see Cuba. Arriving in Havana was one of the most exciting experiences of my life (and I travel a lot) They had to translate into 5 different languages, and I like that. We made new friends from Australia and the Philippines. We enjoyed the pub quiz. Karaoke was fun too- the multi talented staff speak so many languages! I wish i had done the dance lessons that the entertainment staff hosted. We missed not having comedy, but you can't make it funny if you have to translate it so I didn't mind that there was no comedy. We did the Hemingway Tour in Havana, and it was so interesting. Our guide was terrific. We got to see outside of Havana, Hemingway's house, and the village where he fished and you do start to understand how poor the people are in Cuba so I am sad that cruises from the USA won't be going there any more. (if you ever get to go- bring money to be generous with! The average Cuban lives on $20 a month! And bring cat food for the street cats you will see, toiletries because people need it, toys for the kids, crayons, whatever- the people appreciate it!. We gave a young man a soccer ball that we brought with us. He was so happy to get one!). The ship may be a bit older but it is fine. I went on Norwegian epic on spring break and did not enjoy it any more than I enjoyed this cruise. It was different but also amazing (I have cruised on Carnival Paradise, Carnival out of Jacksonville, Norwegian Epic and Bahamas celebration, and I loved every cruise I have been on, but this was a particularly special experience. If you are spoiled and a difficult person, don't go on this cruise. The staff are too nice and you don't deserve it. But if you are an adventurous person who likes to meet people from different cultures, and you are a nice and easy going personality, then go! I nearly cancelled our trip because of some of the reviews, and I would have been so sorry if I had. One of our top 10 trips ever! Read Less

Ship is a older ship but public areas were well kept. Some of the best service I have had in the past 3 or 4 cruises. Entertainment was excellent and really enjoyed Key West and Cuba. Dining options were great with great late night snacks. Excellent Diamond Club and Dining staff. The older ships has more personality and the staff are more personable. Cuba was one of the best ports that I have visited. It was very clean and I felt really safe even at night. I loved the overnight option but plan to rest up before hand. We really enjoyed our day tour and also our night tour. Embarkation day was the only bad experience we had. Took us longer to check in than normal with very long lines. It does seem that Royal is using more contract workers at the pier than Royal Staff. All in All we had a excellent trip and would definitely visit Cuba again. Read Less

I have cruised since 1975. This would be #23. It had been 10yrs since my last cruise. As a SENIOR I did not look for all the ship activities I would have looked for as my family was growing up; rock climbing flumes etc. This ship was ideal for my return to cruising. I love the smaller ship with it's lack of long lines; finding a quite spot; not fighting for a seat etc. Embarkation swift and easy. Parked adjacent to ship at 10:45 sitting in Garden Grill Buffet at 11:50. Like the washy washy hand sanitizing crew from the start. The focus on sanitary precaution well worth it. There were 3 food options 2 buffets plus pizza in rear of ship. Crew cleared area and checked on beverage refills. Food was plentiful and had many options for all tastes. We were 4 woman sharing a balcony cabin; adequate storage. Within an hour we had established a smooth working system for 4 woman. Example in AM my Grand daughter got all of us coffee. I retreated to balcony as others showered; hit the wi-fi or just woke up. Speaking of wi-fi we took unlimited and my grand had service entire cruise to what's app family at home or her social contacts. Cabin steward immediately filled request for 2 robes, an addition chair for balcony, empty frig and keep plenty of coffee pods in stock. Room kept neat and clean. We enjoyed 2 stage shows. Only con 1 show at 8. Should be at 9; race to see. Enjoyed White Hot deck party as spectator. Enough variety of entertainment for the various ages in our group. We ate most of our meals in the restaurants; the Seven Seas being our favorite for it view and décor. I enjoyed the fact I could have a glass of wine each night. My family also enjoyed the drinks offered free of charge. They also took in and enjoyed games. It is sad to say we were the last docking of the Sun in Havana. We took air conditioned bus with a guide who spoke perfect English. This was basically our only option due to traveling companion's. Classic cars stirred memories of my teen yrs This was the real reason I choose Sun. Havana is such a different port. I enjoyed all the architectural diversity. Since I love history I enjoyed the background info and highlights of Old Havana and the look of New Havana. There were areas that broke your heart and you could see the glory Havana was. I hope that this port will reopen sometime in future. It is thru inter action that people learn from each other. We had priority disembarking so we ate breakfast at 7, met our escort at 8, off ship by 8:20. Luggage picked up by red cap and in our car by 8:35. Home in Orlando area by 10;15 On drive home we all discussed our trip and how we would do it again Read Less

EVERYONE with Royal Caribbean made us feel like we were so important to them and they would do anything within their power to accommodate our every need. The service, entertainment, and food was all excellent! We had a few meals in Chops Grill and they were good, but the food and service in the main dining room was so good, we probably will not spend the extra money next time. A larger pool would be nice, but that was not the goal of our trip or we would have booked a larger ship. We had three adults in an ocean-view cabin and had plenty of room. We purchased The Key and felt like the benefits were great compared to the cost. After a lot of research, I also found that most excursions were actually less expensive booking directly through Royal Caribbean, contrary to many review warnings. We loved the ports of Key West, Cuba, and Cozumel! Definitely agree with "small ship, HUGE heart". We did walk by a few small areas with a less-than-pleasant odor a few times, but I have never been in a venue accommodating over 2,000 total people where you couldn't find a few spots that were not exactly pleasant. If given the chance, I would do this exact trip again next week, no questions asked!!! Read Less

I continue to read negative reviews of this cruise and I’m left scratching my head. I guess each trip is what you make of it but MY experience on Armonia was excellent. The ship was spotless, classy, and not a spot of rust to be seen. The crew was attentive and courteous and our cabin stewardess constantly kept the cabin clean. The food was the best that I have ever had on a cruise and the drinks (I had the Easy package which included drinks up to $6) were excellent. The itinerary was fantastic since it included two days in Havana. Cuba is a magical place with friendly people, old American cars, and beautiful Spanish architecture. I believe that MSC has made a customer for life. I would not hesitate to book this same cruise again or any other MSC ship. Don’t believe the negative reviews and experience it for yourself! Missed out on another sold out business related cruise stopping in Cuba as one of the ports so I decided to do this last minute booked trip solo (paid double for my interior cabin which was midship and near to guest services & all activities) since I did all the research and was intrigued by the Vinales region of Cuba for a day trip. I also needed a mental getaway and break and this was perfect as we also stopped in Key West for a day which was fun! I spent alot of time watching Youtube videos about the Norwegian Sun and others who have done the Norwegian Cuba Cruise and Vinales. Kudos to Scott Singer Cruises on Youtube as he has entire playlists on this exact cruise ship and itinerary. Great for me so I knew what to expect the entire time, even though it was a joy just experiencing it all myself. Took the GoPort shuttle from Orlando airport to Port Canaveral which cost $30 roundtrip and was effortless. Reserved & paid online then called to confirm the meeting location was next to Thrifty Car Rental in MCO along with departure time. Staff was helpful and friendly getting everyone lined up to board the bus and loading luggage underneath. Relaxing ride to Port Canaveral. I had a carryon and napsack so I didn't need to check luggage. No water allowed on the ship so you'll have to discard before going through Port Canaveral security. Be sure to print out your itinerary and proof of all payments made for prepaid gratuities, travel insurance and shore excursions so that you have printed proof to show at checkin just in case their computers aren't up to date. It's $75 for a Cuba Visa if you're getting off the ship in Havana and it's paid through the cruise line. I chose to do the all day Vinales Excursion booked through Norwegian because I didn't want to think, worry or deal with anything once I got off the ship. Price was $175 for the tour which is worth it for the experience described below and the peace of mind to just relax and enjoy the day. I also liked knowing that if anything happened I could complain to Norwegian instead of advocating for myself in a foreign country. Once I got my keycard from the friendly check in staff and walked on the ship in less than 3 minutes, I headed straight to the dining room for lunch around 1:30pm. Washed my hands and proceeded to be pampered by the staff and served lunch. All the food was delicious & of course you can order & sample as much as you want from the menu! And so I did everyday! I loved that the ship was easy for me to navigate all levels and it didn't feel crowded. There were times when I was the only person walking on deck and it was just peaceful. Would do this exact cruise again in a heartbeat. Once we got to Havana, since Vinales is an all day trip with a 2.5 hour ride out to the countryside, I got up early and had breakfast then assembled in theatre to learn which bus I need to find once outside. Staff was there to direct us off the ship through immigration to get my passport stamped. It literally took less than 5 minutes to walk off the ship, through the terminal plus immigration and then out to the bus where my wonderful guide and driver were waiting. No Delays, No Lines, No Stress! You could stop in the terminal to change U.S. Dollars to CUC but I didn't because I'm not a shopper and just wanted to savor the experience. My extremely knowledgeable & professional tour guide was Manuel Alejandro Pozo Calvo with Havanatur.cu (Havana Tours). Manny is a Professor and Highly Educated. He could field any question and give you chapter and verse on every topic. I've traveled all over the world for decades and can honestly say he's one of the best tour guides I've ever had. His knowledge and intention to make sure we had an enjoyable day and learn as much as we can in addition to having a relaxing experience was on display all day. He took us to visit a cigar roller, we sampled coffee, visited the mural, had a delicious lunch and walked around the Vinales Valley with stops along the way. We were a small group so we had the opportunity to sample different fruits, rum and cigars. We had time to stop for photos and enjoy music along the way. We had several stops and walking tours throughout the day so we weren't just sitting on the bus the entire time. From the city to the countryside we got a crash course on this beautiful country and its people. Our Transfur driver was Johnny Toledo who was also helpful and friendly. He safely and masterfully navigated the roadways and the curves in the countryside with our big bus. The bus also had a bathroom in the back which was a lifesaver throughout the day. As a professional and licensed tour guide, Manny does tours for groups from all over the world so I offered to post his email here for anyone wanting to book a Cuba Tour with a PHENOMENAL tour guide. He can be reached at MannyPozoCalvo@gmail.com. All are advised to carry toilet paper off the ship and have on hand as you tour the city. Having a bathroom on the tour bus was an unadvertised bonus as we didn't have to go searching for a bathroom and then worrying about the facilities if we did a private tour. By the time we returned to Havana, everyone on the bus got to know each other so when Manny and Johnny dropped us off back at the terminal, we decided to explore Havana on foot on our own as a small group instead of going back on the ship. We literally crossed the street and just started walking. We walked all over for a couple hours until we ended up at the Malecon then circled back to the ship. The architecture in Havana is gorgeous and though many buildings have structural issues and need renovation, there is much to see and admire. The people were friendly and we felt safe walking around. Some will approach you to engage in conversation with music. Just need to be aware that you'll likely end up being lighter in the pocket as they're engaging and entertaining. Have some dollars you're ready to part with. By the time we walked back to the ship it was dark and we just headed to dinner. Many guests were headed off the ship to get a taste of Havana nightlife since we were leaving at 6am next day and they could have fun at the Tropicana or any of the clubs outside of the cruise terminal nearby in walking distance. It was a long and exciting day and we feel that we got our money's worth between the day trip to Vinales and then freely exploring the streets of Havana. You can always pay to get in the classic cars for a ride or just admire them all as you walk around. It's incredible how resourceful the Cuban people are in using what they have to survive and thrive as tourism is the #1 export for the country. Once back on the ship, I just relaxed and enjoyed the food, music and night entertainment. The Perfect Couple game show and Comedian were particularly fun and we had lots of laughs. Once back to Port Canaveral I had breakfast before getting off the ship. I'm thrilled that I did this last minute cruise and am looking at doing the same again soon as there is so much more to see in Havana. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this to anyone who is adventurous, curious about other cultures and loves to explore. The Cuba Cruise is perfect for that. The Food, the Culture, the Music, the Architecture, the Art and the People will not disappoint. You're only allowed a maximum of 100 cuban cigars if you buy any to bring back to the United States. What I loved about going on Norwegian is that the staff was great and everything was effortless. I didn't have to think or worry about anything the entire time. Got back home totally relaxed and already plotting future cruises with Norwegian's CruiseNext Program and my Personal Cruise Planner. Enjoy your Cuba Cruise! Don't delay. Just Do It. And yes, I'd go again on Norwegian! Read Less

My first cruise but my wife's seventh we chose this at fairly short notice because we wanted to visit Cuba. Getting on and off the ship were a breeze, we boarded early it took us a total of about 20-30 mins from when we entered the terminal until we were on the ship. Just please remember it's a small ship not a mega ship, a great place to unwind and de-stress, having said that there are enough things for kids to do as well. It was a wonderful first cruise for me and my wife said the best she's been on by far, she been on them all. There were a lot of Europeans, South Americans and Aussies on board which made it more fun for us, learning about them and their Countries. MSC converts we are, can't wait for the next one, sooner rather than later i hope. Cabin was nicely laid out, bathroom was large with a bath and the balcony was a good size. Everything was spotlessly clean from day 1 until we left the ship. Our cabin steward, Anna, was amazing nothing too much trouble and always had a smile on her face. We dined almost exclusively in La Pergola which was very good, praise to the Manager and Host Brenda who were brilliant all the time. The food was excellent every meal, in fact after the 3rd Day we had trouble choosing, the Manager asked if we trusted him? We did and he chose our meals almost every day from the on and he didn't disappoint us once. We ate at the buffet on the day we got there and the roast beef was very good. All bars and other eating areas looked to be good as well. The shows were good and thankfully kept fairly short, which in my opinion was all the better for that. Now to the Service we had an extraordinary experience with all staff on board. They were so nice, helpful and happy even when people gave them a hard time for seemingly nothing. There are several people who deserve a special mention, Manooj one of the Officers, Anil Singh and JackyLou Natagoc from the Bar Service staff were all outstanding .They really made the cruise that bit more special with their attitudes, happy faces and outstanding personalities and service. Ports and excursions were all great from cooking Jerk Chicken in Ochos Rios and Mayan Tour in Cozumel. The best port by far for us was Havana, the people were wonderful and really made the place a joy to visit. We did a Hemmimgway Tour which was informative and a lot of fun we had a blast. The second day we did a Classic Car ride in a pink 50's Bel Air again this was great and our driver Jesil took us all over the city. The Architecture of the older buildings in truly wonderful, the Russian era buildings were not as beautiful, of course, however the gave a great insight into how people lived. The Flea Market is a must do it's a short walk from the ship, out of the Port turn left about 5 blocks. There are some wonderful souvenirs here paintings, leather goods, t-shirts and so much more. Don't forget some cigars and rum from a legitimate source. Also please take some candy for the kids there, you give one piece out and 20 more show up. We are also going to take some kids clothing on our next visit. Havana, Cuba and it's citizens have their problems but what a joy they were to meet. Read Less

My wife chose this cruise as she wanted to visit Havana, Cuba. We arrived the morning of departure but didn't check in at the boat until 1pm. Lines were just getting busy. They moved quickly and we were on board after about 15-20 minutes inside the terminal getting our room keys/info. Make sure to have all your paperwork/reservation info and your passports ready to go when you get in line. Once on board our rooms weren't ready. The crew onboard had set up an area within the Bliss Lounge that you could check your luggage at so you wouldn't have to drag it around with you. The crew member gave us a "receipt" for our luggage and my wife and I then walked around the ship. It was raining lightly at the time so the pool deck was closed. We found one of the restaurants and had a nice lunch. While eating lunch an announcement was made that our rooms were ready. After lunch we claimed our luggage from Bliss lounge and found our room. We were on Deck #6 towards the front of the boat. Our hallway only had 7-8 rooms on that side of it so the noise level was very low and foot traffic - none. It was a great spot. Like most ships our room was small but had enough space/storage to handle a large suitcase and a carry on case. My wife also had a large carryon purse/bag that didn't take up much space. Room was very clean and bright with our large window. No balcony. Bathroom is the only downside to these rooms. Very small, but then again you are on a ship. We ate most of our dinners in one of the main dining rooms. We didn't do too much for lunch. Breakfast we did the buffets. The food at both the buffets and the dining rooms were great. The menus in the dining rooms had a nice variety and actually had flavor. If you are a foodie and enjoy nice dinners/lunches, you won't be disappointed. Our cruise did include the free beverage package. There are a few drinks on their menu that you will see a charge for. They usually included a special cup or some other type of special offer with the drink. If you just want a beer, wine, whiskey, mixed drink, or soda, then it was included. You would think that people would take advantage of the package and just cut loose a little too much. To my surprise it wasn't that bad. You had a few that took it a little too far, but for the most part people stayed within their limits and just enjoyed their trip. Our first port of call was Key West. For some reason our ship didn't dock until 1pm. We then had to be back on the boat by 6pm. Our excursion was to start at 1:30pm, but by the time we got off the boat and to our excursion starting point, it was around 2pm. Our excursion lasted approximately 3 hours. My wife and I had basically 1 hour to shop around Key West. We would have liked more time to experience the area. Our excursion was fun though. We did the Key Lime Bike tour. Got a little hot as the weather was in the upper 80's. Our tour guide, James, was fun and full of Key West history/knowledge. The Key Lime pie at the end of the ride was great. The one thing with the Sun is there isn't a lot of night activities scheduled other than the main show. My wife and I aren't big into dancing, and we don't gamble too much. The nightly schedule would include a few couples "game show" type shows. We did watch one called the "perfect couple". Three couples would have to perform certain tasks with their spouse/significant other. It was funny and a good time. The ship also had a comedian on board that week and we caught his "clean" show and the "adult" show. Both were funny and had us in tears at one point. The next morning we were in Havana. The ship sits in the City's harbor and when you exit the pier terminal you step right out into a very busy street of Havana. There are classic cars and horse drawn carriages just waiting to give tourists rides. Some other cruisers on our boat noted that they rented one of the classis cars for a tour of the city for around $40-$50 US dollars. They said the tour lasted about an hour. Havana is not the cleanest place in the world but the atmosphere and the people were great. Old Havana was fun to walk around in. The tight cobble-stoned streets with the tropical colors of the buildings were great. We did an excursion with a company outside of the cruise and had lunch at a local restaurant along with visits to local landmarks. It was a great time. Our itinerary included an overnight stay in Havana. I think it was so the people who wanted to shell out $250 per person for the Tropicana show excursion could do so. My wife and I didn't do that one. We stayed on the ship and enjoyed a nice dinner at Cagney's Steakhouse. Again the food was great. My steak was a little over cooked, but it wasn't terrible. The cut of meat was great and they included the house steak sauce which was very good. We had a nice desert to top off the meal. Because we were celebrating a special occasion, our waitress brought out a second desert for us. The next day we were heading back to Florida. Thursday was basically a day at sea. We didn't do much other than sit by the pool and watch some of the poolside games the activity staff had going on. Would have liked to have the morning hours to explore Havana a little more. My wife and I took advantage of the early disembarkation of the ship. We had an early flight out of Orlando. The ship docked at 7am. For the early disembarkation you have to be off the ship by 8:30am. You also have to carry your own luggage off. This was not a problem given our one large suitcase and carry on bag. The exit off the ship was easy with all walking ramps down into the terminal. No stairs or other issues that would have to worry about. Overall a great trip. Would go back to Havana and Key West again. Would prefer a little more time at each stop. The ship was great and the staff was amazing. Highly recommend the Norwegian Sun. Read Less

Disembarkation well organized and quick. Can’t say enough positive about this cruise. Will do again. Used our balcony quite frequently. Did not go to shows. Did not do excursions. Took a taxi to Atlantis. Did not do the aquarium at Atlantis as we thought it was too expensive. If you get upgraded liquor package go to Windjammer bar as they have nice sipping scotch. Buffet breakfast had everything you want. The only item they did not have anywhere on ship was cookies. The ship had a lot of younger clientele which was refreshing. Looking to do a Xmas cruise with Norwegian. After doing the freestyle I will never do traditional cruise again. We took a few one dollar bills for tips. Staff very appreciative. Read Less

This was my first cruise. I chose MSC Armonia due to the itinerary and I am so glad that I did. The moment we stepped foot on the cruise ship, everybody seemed to be smiling and happy and the crewmembers were very helpful. We had one little hiccup, which was our drink vouchers. When we booked our cruise, it was under the “Fantastica” which included a book voucher for 12 free drinks. We did not receive it at first, however another guest had the same problem and told us to just bring the original paperwork down to guest services and they would correct the issue. After dinner on the first night, we took the paperwork down to guest services and immediately we had are drink vouchers. Other than that, everything was smooth sailing. Our cabin was good size; we had four adult women staying in one cabin. We had two twin beds and two fold down beds and it worked perfectly. The cabin had a nice large unobstructed window and plenty of storage space. It had a small desk area and a mini fridge with beverages that you could buy, we did not buy any of the stuff in the mini fridge but it was there. The bathroom had a small shower, so if you are a large person that could be an issue. However, for the average person it should work fine. Our cabin steward Kavesh, got us extra sheets, pillows and blanket for the room. Kavesh seemed to work non-stop in keeping our cabin, nice and tidy. He was fantastic! La Brasserie Buffet on Deck 11: We ate there mostly for breakfast and lunch. It was pretty much the same foods each day but there were many options to choose from, I had no complaint with the buffet and enjoyed eating there. Also on 11th deck was the Gelateria Italiana – it was where we would go for gelato Ice cream, always refreshing after a hot excursion. Usually there was only three choices to choose from, but still good. Le Piscine Pool area: There were two small pools, two hot tubs and a spray park called Doremi for small kids. There were two ping-pong tables and three foosball tables. The ping-pong tables and two of the foosballs were on the starboard side and one foosball table was on the port side. I did use the gym, which was very nice. The equipment seems to be in good shape and I had no problem using it. It can be very busy at certain hours. I went earlier in the day or later in the evening and it was not busy during those times. They also have a power walking/running track that I used. Again, you want to do this early in the day or later in the evening. If you are looking for water slides, rock climbing walls, etc., this is not the ship for you. Marco Polo Dining Room on Deck 5: We dined here every night except for one night in Cuba. I found the food to be good (not great but good). However, I do think that it does depend on what you ordered. Several of my shipmates had the lasagna one night and none of them liked it. However if you did not like something, our waiter, Edwin, would get you something else very quickly. Edwin tried to make sure we enjoyed our meals. The drinks steward always had our water glasses filled full with cold water and was quick to get any drink you wanted. He also always had a smile on his face. Cafe San Marco on Deck 6: Had very good hot chocolate and coffee. They allowed us to use our 12 free drink vouchers there, if you do not have the vouchers or some kind of drink package you will have to pay extra for it. Going ashore/Excursion: We had no problem and never stood in line for more than 5 to 10 minutes at the most. Even going through customs in Cuba, it was only about 10 minutes to get through. Even though our cruise director did say, it could take up to 2 hours, depending on how many customs officers were at work that day. Isle de Roatan – The MSC Armonia actually docked in Isle de Roatan, the Cruise director had told us before that they had been tendering in but that we would actually dock in Roatan. That made getting off the ship quick and easy, no problems. I did the Mayan Eden excursion; it is a little animal park with a guided tour. Costa Maya – Chacchoben Mayan ruins Excursion Cozumel – Did not stay on Cozumel, took the ferry over to Playa de Carmen and did the Chaak Tun cenote excursion. Cuba – Classic car Excursion and walking excursion. The MSC Armonia is not a “mega-ship” which is something I liked about it. The ship was also kept clean and in good repairs, the crewmembers where also very nice (at least the ones I interacted with). I love the fact that it had so many passengers that were from other countries; it was a lot of fun meeting them. I would say that the ratio was maybe 25% from the USA and the rest from other countries, on our cruise. I would recommend the MSC Armonia. Read Less

The ship is obviously older and doesn't have all the bells and whistles as a new big ship. That, being said, the ship is beautiful and well maintained. We have never been on any ship with such outstanding service all around. The food was fantastic is the dining room and the wait staff and maitre d's were always on top of everything. Even the Captain and his executive staff were always around, visible, friendly, and very approachable. For the affordable price we paid, this may have been our best cruise yet. The ship is small and easy to navigate. We have never been on a ship where the boat arrives early to the ports, giving us extra time to explore. The ports, Roatan, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and most of all, Havana are all excellent. Havana was clean, safe, friendly, welcoming, and amazingly fun. The overnight there afforded us a memorable walk and an unforgettable night. We want to go back to Havana someday. Read Less

A visit to Cuba was on my bucket list. Open seating in the Seven Seas Restuarant was wonderful. The staff was very attentive especially Gretchen and Lee. I was very pleased. I went on two tours one in Key West and one in Havana, both booked through the ship. I enjoyed both. Angelia was my cabin steward and everything was clean and beautiful. Our cabin shower had a major leak and it was repaired immediately. The shows were first class. The singers and dancers were fantastc. I also liked that drinks were included. I also liked that this ship was smaller and more intimate space. I am sorry I didn't write down the names other other ientertainers not in the shows but I attended all and loved them all. The All White Night was great fun. I didn't use the fitness center only walked the deck every morning and it was peaceful. Read Less

We liked the idea that in 7 nights there was only one full sea day with a 30 hours as our last stop in Havana. Havana was the highlight of the itinerary and probably the best port to visit in the Caribbean. The ship docks in the harbor and it's steps away from the old town galleries, bars and restaurants. The people are very entertaining and welcoming without being overwhelming. Although there is poverty there is no begging and we never felt unsafe. Fellow pax, whose Cuban from Miami, went out with a bunch of gold necklaces and bracelets without fear. Some American pax on a photography adventure, having been there previously went with their expensive equipment without worry. We enjoyed great lunches at about US$60. 2 daiquiris and 2 national beers were $10. The National Hotel terrace should be on everyone's itinerary. There is a HOHO bus that you should use to get acquainted. Armonia is an older ship without grand interior spaces. It has a long pool deck and the loungers and pools did not seem crowded. The entertainment team was energetic and the productions were entertaining. Food was good but not impressive. We had open dining on the Fantastica package. Our servers, Francis and Pravesh were very professional friendly and attentive, excellent team. We Booked about 5 days prior and got an UG from Balcony to suite. We had the basic drink package of up to $6 included. It was good for my partner as he doesn't drink. I UG to premium package and probably broke even since we were in ports for so many days. Either package included water and gelato, I think only mine included espressos and Red Bull and top shelf liquor, some of which got scarce at certain bars. Read Less

We selected this ship because it went to Cuba and our favorite (royal Caribbean) was booked out. I read the reviews of MSC and they were not very good. But we enjoyed the Armonia. Our cabin attendant was excellent - the dining room servers were also excellent. It is a small ship - therefore the entertainment options are smaller than on the bigger ships. Although the shows used ‘canned’ music the young performers were excellent. They put everything they had into the performance. We had a ‘Fantastical’ cabin ( I think that was what it was called) that was quite large - a full bathtub shower and a balcony. I would recommend this ship to anyone who is looking for good value for the money. The dining room food was average but tasty. The gym was excellent. It lacked a good walking deck but this was due to the ship being small. We liked the excursion options - they suited us. Cuba was our reason for choosing this ship - we did the Hemingway tour and the architectural tour. Both were great value. Although my favorite ship is still the Royal Caribbean I would not hesitate to cruise on the Armonia again. Read Less

I decided to book MSC Armonia because of the itinerary and great price. After reading the reviews I hesitated about this cruise but for my surprise it exceeded my expectations. I had a great time with the Entertainment crew, they were awesome! Every night was a party, very happy, good vibes cruise. My 9 years old boy was in love with all the Youth activities, this girls were amazing and my kid loved all of them. He cried the hole morning just because he had to say goodbye. He enjoyed every dinner, show and activities with all the kids. My waiter Dewa and his team, the best ever! Good menu and tasted delicious. Beverages had a good price if you do not by the package and you will find different kind of beverages, coffee, tea, milk, juices...all included on the package. Itinerary was excellent and all ports too. Dolphin swimming at Cozumel and all silver shopping at the Costa Maya beach was the most I enjoyed. Cuba is an experience you need to have and make your own opinion. What I liked about this ship is that is was not boring at all, it was a happy environment, like a big family. If you don't like tropical music, dancing and having a good time please, do not waste your money booking this cruise. Read Less

We have cruise 50 plus times on various lines (Carnival, RC, Princess, Cunard, Celebrity, Costa) and this will be our first on MSC. We were a little apprehensive about MSC after reading reviews and this being one of the oldest ships in the fleet. However all that went away as we checked in for our cruise. We arrived early at the port around 10:30am(we had an early flight). Check in was fast and efficient. We went to the waiting area and after about 30 minutes we were allowed to board the ship. The ship is in great shape and we never saw areas that were run down like others have stated. The decor is what I would call as country club elegant. We headed to deck 11 and the Il Griesole bar (are hangout during daytime). We ordered our drinks and at that point were told we have the wrong drink code on our cards(we had upgraded from easy to premium before the cruise). So I took my paperwork and went to guest services and had new cards printed with the new code ( no problem getting it fixed ). The service all around the ship was fantastic , the bar service was some of the best we have ever experienced . We never waited more than a couple of minutes for our drinks at any bar. The servers walking around the deck were great our glasses were not even empty and they were bringing us another drink (we did tip the first day and I am sure this helped). Christine, Benson, Albert and Rom made us feel special. We had 2nd seating for dinner and on the first night it was 8:45pm and all other nights it was at 8:30. The night in Havana was open seating. There was only one Elegant night (the guests were pretty casual on this trip). I went to see the Matre'd to get a table for 2 and after a tip he said he would do what he could and that our new table assignment will be sent to our room. When we we arrived at our cabin after 2pm our new table as requested was there. We had table 450 and John was a great server very fast fast and efficient. The food we though was some of the best we had on a cruise. ( The pasta was the weak link so be warned). We had an outside cabin and is was small but plenty of room for the 2 of us. The shower is small and the curtain likes to get close and personal but after a minute or 2 you figure out how to menuver around. We have been to all the ports befor so the only port we had arranged anything was Havana. We arrived early around 11am and our tour was to meet at 12:45 and at 12:45 we were leaving the ship waited about 10 minutes to get through passport control, security. We exchanged money (euros) this took all of about 10 minutes. Our ship tour the (Hemmingway tour) was good and took about 6 hours. The next day we went on our own and hired a driver in an old car at the port. He took us to the Hotel Nacionale and showed us other areas we paid $60.cucs for 1:30 minute tour. MSC knows what they are doing and do it well and we can't wait to sail with them again. Read Less

Cuba and Key West ports from Port Canaveral. Very organized embarkation and disembarkation. Loved seeing Havana. We did our own tour witha private tour group and was very interesting and informative. Key West was great to see as well. We did the Trolley Tour through NCL to get an overview of the Key and then after, walked around on our own. We stayed in the Deck 6a cabins and was very quiet and sufficiently spacious and comfortable for 2 people with adequate storage. The staff were particularly attentive. Any issue was addressed immediately and with follow-up. They seemed to go above and beyond to make sure guests were enjoying their cruise. The open bar was great and there was plenty of staff available to serve. We have cruised Royal Carribean, Holland America and Celebrity and I would have to say that the service on the NCL SUN was outstanding. Nicely renovated ship too. The entertainment was also very good. Enjoyed the comedian and the big dance show, karaoke, as well as the numerous musical venues. Overall very pleased!! Read Less

I really didn't know what to expect on this cruise, as the reviews are all over the place, but we had an amazing time. 1. I know it's an older, smaller ship. However, since this was my kids' first cruise, they had nothing to compare it to. The kids in our party (3 families, kids ages, 3, 7, 9 and 9) had a blast between the pools and the kids' club. We were all happy to hear the kids beg to go back to "Adventure Ocean" (the kids club). I didn't really have any moments where I looked around the ship and had it feel shabby. 2. The cabin was small. It's a cruise. We never planned on spending a ton of time in the cabin, so we didn't really get upset by that. I recommend poo-pourri if you're sharing a room with 3 other people. Sometimes trying to navigate all 4 people getting ready was rough, but it generally was fine. 3. Our waitstaff in the dining area was super fantastic and accommodating. On the final night when they offered lobster tail, they made it clear that the lobster was small and *wink wink, nudge nudge* you can order 2 meals. 4. Lastly, I feel like this is the most important advice I have - we did NOT use the cruise line for our excursions. And the options we chose were WAY better than anything offered. - In Key West, we did used Fury Cat (https://www.furycat.com), and chose their Ultimate Adventure. The family with the 3 year old didn't do that with us, but for the older kids it was PERFECT. Super fun, completely fit within the time we had on shore, and the experiences and staff were awesome. - In Havana, we used Havana Journeys (https://havanajourneys.com), and they were so above and beyond amazing. They were so communicative while we were setting up the tour from home and gave us everything we needed, including pictures of our guide and driver so we knew who to look for. They are OFAC compliant, which was important for out travel, and Eileen, our guide was so so great-- really knowledgable, smart, timed everything perfectly - if we ever get to go back to Cuba, we will absolutely call them again. We planned this cruise for the sole purpose of going to Cuba, and it was 100% worth it. Even with our large group, everyone had an amazing time. I've seen some bad reviews, but I think every trip is what you make it. Read Less

We had the time of our lives!! We (my wife and I) haven't been able to take a couples vacation in 20 years, it was worth the wait. We choose this cruise for 2 reasons the destination was Cuba, how many people can say they went to Cuba and secondly, we needed ship dates to fit our busy schedules, Norwegian met both of our needs. We enjoyed ourselves from the time we stepped on board, our first stop was the food, what can I say, anything you could imagine was available and tasted wonderful! There was such a variety and nothing was bland, you were able to try things you might've never eaten before. Cuba was amazing! Culture, people and food were all explored we didn't leave a stone unturned. We had a shore excursion as well as some exploring on our own. When were on the ship, the entertainment was great! I one the lip sync battle by the way, never thought I would do it but my wife coaxed me into it. WHAT A BLAST!! One of the highlights was Mark (cabin steward) and our service crew, anything we wanted, needed or thought we needed was provided. Bottom line is we have found our annual outing and it will be with Norwegian! Read Less

We chose this cruise mainly due to our time constraints and this was one that fit our schedule. We had a great time. Embarkation and disembarkation went very well. The ship was recently renovated and everything looked great. We traveled with our teen son. This is a small ship as are all the ships that can be accommodated in Havana. What it lacks in water slides and things for kids, it made up for in fun music shows, entertainment and nice staff. We enjoyed the food in Palace and Crossings for breakfast and lunch. We had a dinner at Cagney's which was included in our package and we enjoyed it as well. We did eat at the buffet for a breakfast and some lunches. I prefer Palace and Crossings over the buffet. Most family's with younger kids went to the buffet. We did a Panorama excursion in Havana in the evening through the cruise. It was a choice we made last minute and it still had openings. We did a stingray excursion in Stirrup cay and it was excellent. We also rented a snorkel, in addition to the 2 we brought from home (ours were better, dry snorkels and theirs had too large a mouthpiece for me but it fit my son) and snorkeled on our own at Stirrup Cay. We saw lots of fish. Early morning the waters were cool but later in the day it felt just right and we were not at all cold in the water. Our cabin was 9239 and it was near elevators but not too close to be annoying. It was very quiet and we had a nice view of Havana as we pulled into port. The cabin is small but it was large enough for the three of us. The only semi problem was that our son, about 5' 8" was a bit too tall for the pull out sofa bed. We had to put the sofa bolster at the foot to support his legs and feet. He seemed ok with it but someone older and even taller may have more difficulty with that. We would go again. Read Less

This was our 14th NCL cruise but our first on the Sky. I was joined by my wife, son (21), and daughter (18). I will first review the ship and then review Cuba. SKY First, a few words about the Sky. The staff was absolutely the most friendly out of any of the 20 cruises we have been on. They did not just welcome us to every venue, bar, and restaurant; they emphatically thanked us for joining them for the week. Simply outstanding service. The Sky itself was in much better condition than we have read in some other reviews. It is old. But it is clean and well maintained. The Sky is the smallest ship we have cruised on (our last two cruises were on the Epic and Escape). The advantage was no lines, ever. We found deck chairs whenever we wanted, never waited for a table in the dining rooms, and walked off the ship when we were ready to leave. The entertainment venues were not as polished as other larger, newer ships. But the performers did their best with the space they had. We might have gotten bored if this was a 7-day cruise. But the Sky was just fantastic for a 4-day cruise. One tip: If you like a quiet cabin, get a room on deck 6. These cabins are isolated from the rest of the ship. CUBA Like the Sky, Cuba was a very pleasant surprise. Part of the surprise was that ships dock right in the center of Old Havana. So you can walk on and off the ship as often as you like without any issues. As per our usual practice, we did not purchase an excursion on the ship. Instead, we had a tremendous adventure by putting together our own itinerary. Actually, all I did was spend about 1/2 hour searching the internet the night before. 1) Walking tour of Old Havana to orient ourselves 2) Found a great English-speaking driver and a beautiful restored 50's lime green Dodge convertible to take us on a 2.5 hour guided tour. The tour included detailed reviews of Old Havana, New Havana, brief visits to all three forts, a stop at the Bay of Pigs memorial, time at Revolution Square, and a photo stop at the Cristos statue. 3) Hopped on the ship for a quick lunch 4) Walked to the Almacenes San Jose Artisans market. Hundreds of booths selling mostly the same stuff at just "fair" prices. It seemed to be the Cuban equivalent of Nassau's straw market. 5) Took a cab to Santa Maria Del Mar and spent 2.5 hours on the beach. Nice sand but a bit rocky just at the waters edge. Caught a very interesting cab back to the ship: A restored 50's wagon that had been in the driver's family for 45 years. His father gave it to him when he retired as a cab driver, and he is about to give it to his son. 6) Quick shower and dinner in the dining room. 7) Walk off the ship and search for night life in Old Havana. We didn't find much. We were told the next day that a cab could have taken us to all of the hot spots. But at that point we were pretty worn out anyway. 8) Get back on the ship at 1 am and collapse in our beds, absolutely marveling at what a delightful day we had. In conclusion, the Sky's Cuba itinerary is a tremendous value and well worth the trip. Frankly, it was a better value than we thought, since we didn't realize that drinks were included until the second day! Read Less

We did this cruise via a casino coupon and we upgraded to a Junior suite from an inside room . Mistake but I will talk about this in my cabin review. We were two couples in our early 40's and my single friend in her early 40's. The single friend was a first time cruiser and she loved it! The rest of us have been on 5 or 6 other cruises and thought it was up there in our favorite 2. We didn't go in with huge expectations and maybe that is why we had a blast. Embarkation was a breeze. Because I upgraded to a Suite we had priority boarding which meant a really short line compared to the huge line for everyone else. They will let your non suite friends get in the short line with you. We were there at noon and on the ship by 12:20. We all bought the drink package and thank god! We like to drink and some of them got cut off by midnight because they reached their 15 drink max. But hey, drinks get warm, you set them down, you may not like one, they still count so we were glad we bought it. Lunch on the Lido deck we all chose guys burgers and fries and they were all great. We hung out all day by the pool, in the casino, walking around etc. We missed going under the sky bridge in Tampa as we were in the casino (woopsy) . Anyway this boat rocked alot more than other cruise ships I have been on. Sometimes you noticed it, but I just tried to not look out the windows as we moved and I was generally fine. I am also very sensative to sea sickness and I never heard anyone else complain about it. We met for early 6pm dinner in the main dining room Destiny. We sat the 5 of us and 3 lovely ladies from Virginia. Our two waiters were great and our drinks and apps were on the table in 5 min. All our meals in the main dining room were very good! we did all pay $20 extra one night and got the filet and lobster and it did not disappoint. Day 2- arrive in Key west at noon, I really wished we got here sooner as it is very close to Tampa???? I was confused why the itinerary didnt allow more time at this port. Anyway we had a few cocktails on board and waited for the masses to fight their way off. We walked off at 12:50 ish and no lines. It rained all day in Key West but we did a little bar hopping and had fun anyway. Irish Kevins was for sure our favorite spot with the live singer/comedian guy. Got back on the little trolly thing around 3pm and went back to the ship. I will definately be back in Key West as it wasnt nearly enough time here. Got back went to casino (after we were like 12 miles out of course) and made it to the main dining room again for dinner. I say made it because it was a long day of drinking and some people wanted to nap! Food great again! Day 3- woke up around 8am, some ate breakfast (my husband and I don't really eat breakfast) Waited for most to get off the ship in CUBA, we got off around 11 am with absolutely no one in line. Customs took 30 seconds as did money exchange. Just to give an idea of how much you will need in Cuba, most of us took our $80 US and it was too much (for what we did). First of all DO NOT get suckered into buying an excursion if you want to just walk on your own!!!! Carnival will try and tell you that you have to check off "people to people" and book an excursion. We being in Cuba last year knew to check off "support the cuban people" option and you can totally just walk off. We walked to the main square accross from the ship and you will get a few locals asking if you want to pay $1 each and they will walk you around. We said no, but one guy seemed to never leave so what the heck we let him walk us around. He took us to a local John Lennon bar (dive bar but very cool!!) we all go cubra libras (rum and cokes) and were surprised it was $10 a drink!! We had one, felt very buzzed and moved on to the next stop. We walked through beautiful streets, saw the market, other squares, local people living life. It was great. Ernest Hemingway bar right near the port was our fave as it had live cuban music and here a round of drinks for 5 people was $7.50 US. Or $7.50 CUC. Totally cheap and fun here. We danced and walked around some more. We all tipped our guy $25 US and he was more than happy I am sure. Got back on the boat and only 2 made it to dinner.... Day 4 - Cozumel- We arrived at 12:45pm to port and we chose again to wait an hour before getting off to avoid the crowd. We had booked El Cid's for the twilight day pass as our ship was here 1pm to 9pm. No other day pass resorts were offering this late day pass. It was $65 each I think?? MAKE SURE you bring the printed piece of paper with your reservation or they will make you print it at the hotel. We had drinks, food (good food) towels, pool, snokeling, all included. It was a fun day! The shopping area right a the ship is awesome, I thought it was beautiful clean and lots to do. We were back on the ship around 6 as we are wimps of the sun and apparently cannot drink too much in the sun. Day 5- day at sea, usual activities, silly games by the pool, lots of food.... I dont really know as I was burnt from Mexico and did not hang around outside. We were mostly hanging around the casino area/American bar. Now 3 of us were smokers and even as a smoker I will say that this small one side of the bar and in the casino were always VERY smoky.. The air suckers in this area seemed to not work. This was also the area that they had the trivia games which we LOVED!! So much fun. But dang do something with the smoking vents! CASINO!!!!- Ok we hung out here ALOT!!! Like every day for a long time especially at night. We usually go to Greektown Casino in our hometown near Detroit. We usually hit at greektown pretty much every time we are there so we think it is the loosest best slots in the world lol . This casino was pretty close. It is small but it pays good!!! Every single time you sat down people were hitting like crazy! My husband probably won $1000 a day on slots easily. I couldnt believe it . I loved playing roulette with our group. I won one of the pong games in the casino where they called my name and I had to throw one out of ten ping pong balls into a gift bag with money on it. I won $75 it was fun. Overall the wait staff was fantastic, you always had a drink in your hand, we never waited once at any of the bars nor in the casino. Dinner service was fast, we never waited more than 10 min for dinner. I couldn't believe we were on the same cruise that people were ripping on the slow service and crappy food. We did not think this at all. Look , don't expect Ruth's Chris style meals, expect more like outback or Texas Road House lol. Then you will not be disappointed. This boat is small and therefore you won't get lost and everything is easy to get to. Having said that it is small and can sometimes feel like there is not much to do. There is not much craziness going on near the pool, which I like sometimes. We NEVER had a problem getting a chair, there were never any big drunks partying like it was springbreak. There was no more than 20 kids on the whole ship. It was just a great cool crowd of people. Cabin review is next.... Read Less
