So Glad We Went

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Zhao Shang Yi Dun (Viking Sun)

We had always wanted to go to Cuba, and when Viking said it was going, we signed up. While there were obstacles along the way (Cuba nixing port call for us in Havana, unexplained medical problems suffered by American diplomats in Cuba, itinerary changes, U.S. Cuba travel regulation changes), we are very glad we didn't cancel this cruise. There was some extra effort in getting to Havana, but ...

Eyeopening in many ways

Also a first in many ways, one we almost missed. The chance to sail on a new ship with a new ocean cruise line was a draw. The opportunity to see Cuba at last was reason. The chance to go to Belize as well was a plus. When the Viking Sun told us we wouldn't be docked in Havana and would spend 3 days in Cienfuegos and had to ride a bus for three hours to get to Havana and wouldn't even go to ...

I really wanted to rate this trip a 4.5..... We had taken a Viking River cruise and wanted to try a Viking Ocean cruise. We chose the Cuba cruise, based on the itinerary which also included Belize, and were disappointed when we were informed of the itinerary changes 4 months before departure (Belize was dropped), however, we were more than satisfied with the options Viking offered to ...

A fantastic Cuba experience on a wonderful ship!

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Celestyal Crystal

I chose this cruise because I wanted to visit multiple places in Cuba. My parents took this cruise in March, and loved it. It was my first cruise, so between that and the newness of the Cuba experience, I was not sure what to expect. It was amazing. Let me start out addressing critiques I've seen elsewhere -- yes, it's an older ship and it's small. If you're looking for a Quantum of the Seas ...

Cuba cruise is excellent

We wanted to visit Cuba, and Viking offered the most comprehensive experience for a cruise tour. This was our second Viking cruise (the first was a river cruise in France), and we were delighted. The shore excursions (including an overnight in Havana) were well-planned and enjoyable, and the small boat was far superior to the larger boats that we'd experienced on previous ocean cruises. As on ...

Cuba experience.

We chose to go to Cuba because it was a once in a lifetime experience. There is no telling when and if the US will cut off relations with Cuba. It was quite a memorable experience to say the least. However, it wasn't the trip that we initially signed up for. On several occasions we were scheduled for dinner reservations, however when we arrived at the dining room, we were told they did not ...

We chose this cruise for the opportunity to see Cuba and to enjoy another Viking Ocean Cruise. We'd been on the Sun's sister ship - the Viking Star - for a trip to the Mediterranean in 2016. We loved that experience and knew we'd feel at home on the Sun. Our itinerary was changed several months before our departure which we were not thrilled about. But Viking made its up to us in other ways. ...

Price does not buy you quality on this ship. This was the most expensive cruise we have ever taken and we were so disappointed by many aspects. There are some positives of a small ship and that is a more intimate experience with fellow passengers and a certain relaxed atmosphere however many negatives in that very little is offered such as no shop, spa, fresh coffee, bar, walking deck, workout ...

An interesting place to visit

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Azamara Quest

We chose this cruise solely for the chance to visit Cuba and Cuba did not disappoint us. However, the cruise had a totally unnecessary sea day and trip would have been better had it been replaced by more time in Havana. Have no complaints with the ship, but no superlatives either. The cabin is of an adequate size, but the bathroom is very small and the shower barely provides enough room to turn ...
