Honeymoon Couple - Avoid

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on MSC Opera

First Time Cruiser • Age 30s

We booked this cruise for our honeymoon which wasn't even acknowledged. We were very disappointed. I got food poisoning on my third day on the ship. I only ate on board so it was definitely from the ship and I had also seen people prior to me getting sick walking around with bandages covering where drips had to be inserted for people who had food poisoning. The ship did not enforce the use of the ...

December 2018. Havana sightseeing tour at night??

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Norwegian Sky

Very bad experience!! Find a different cruise company!! This trip was 5 days long heading to: Stirrup Cay, Bahamas and Cuba. We booked this trip to visit Cuba and it was my birthday gift!! This was our 7-8th cruise, we usually sail with Carnival. Stirrup Cay was cancelled because of ruff ocean/weather conditions; so we arrived to Bahamas ~ 2 hours earlier. We booked an excursion to go to the ...

Broken engine and extremely limited time in port

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Norwegian Sky

We traveled on the Norwegian Sky and our first stop was cancelled due to inclement weather which is very understandable. Still, we were late getting into our second port of call in Nassau and we departed from Nassau hours earlier than I expected. On the way to Havana, the ship apparently had engine issues and delayed our arrival significantly and then we were not able to disembark until 1930 and ...

Don't do Pearl Seas Cruises !

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Pearl Mist

This tour was advertised as 11 days, comprehensive tour of Cuba. We actually had 2 full days and 2 half days in Cuba. The ship was not stable in rough waters. The elevators often did not work and were shut down. Our stateroom was on the 4th. floor and when the ship rocked the drawers flew open. We were told to stay in our room for one whole day because of the roughness, food was delivered to ...

Great potential marred by bait-and-switch promotion - not worth the price

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Pearl Mist

Summary This Cuba “experience” is marred by deceptive advertising, bait-and-switch promises and on-ship excuses. Look at Oceania cruises for alternative Cuba cruises recommended by people who have gone on both. The bottom line is that while shipboard accommodations are excellent, this small ship is at the mercy of the Cuban government, which favors larger ships in its limited ports. You don’t ...

Was great until the boat left the dock

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Pearl Mist

The Pearl Mist and Pearl Seas Cruise Line represent a missed opportunity. This cruise missed the mark in several ways, but fulfilled many of my main goals for the cruise: the food was great and so was the room turn-down service. Every day the dining room was open for about 2 hours for each meal. There was no assigned seating and it was never dressy. The service was expedient and the food was ...

MSC Opera is a poor relative..

Review for a Cuba Cruise on MSC Opera

Not really impressed with MSC Opera, so I would not recommend it to any of my friends. “Anytime Dining” means 8.30pm – any other time seemed to be an inconvenience (fortunately we were not assigned to one of the two sittings for evening meals – 15 minutes late and you are turned away). Average staff member was good, but the more senior ones have the poorest customer facing skills. Best avoid ...

Disappointment

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Pearl Mist

Our cruise on the Pearl Mist was a serious disappointment, for two reasons. First, we didn't get the cruise for which we signed up. We reserved on information indicating that we would spend two full days and an evening of entertainment in Havana, and then one full day each in Santiago, Trinidad de Cuba and Cienfuegos. Instead, we got a half day and the evening of entertainment in Havana and an ...

Boat too small for open ocean/too many glitches

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Pearl Mist

We chose this cruise because it focused on Cuba, not just a "sail by" with one stop, and we had been on this ship on the Great Lakes where it works in the summer. We liked the small boat, but be prepared for rock n roll on the open ocean- even in good weather. I never get sea sick, but lots of passengers did. The average age of the passengers was well into their 80s, about ten years older than my ...

Disappointing experience with Regent, we will not be returning

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Seven Seas Voyager

User Avatar

We were on the Regent Seven Seas Voyager for the 10-day Western Caribbean including Cuba. This was our first cruise with Regent and will likely be our last. We wanted to try out Regent (along with other upscale/luxury cruise lines) after cruising with many others. This was our 49th cruise overall. We have cruised on Seabourn several times and most of my comparisons are with Seabourn, ...
