Been on previous xmas cruises with fred olsen which was 5 star ,also been on previous cruise with thompson dream . The moment we stepped aboard marrella dream we all felt that things were not as we expected ,, we travelled up the lift to our cabins and spoke to a fellow passenger who remarked without prompting that cut backs were evident throughout the ship ,that was not the welcome we expected .. following on we have to agree with the comments made in the lift , the restaurant food menu was dreadfull ,and was best to be avoided , the food in the lido was better .. The entertainment was mediocre, unless you wanted your eardrums bursting with the awfull loud music . On our last day iwent down with the dreaded nori virus and received little sympathy from the medics ,who incidently demanded payment for their services , i was seriously ill along with many others on board ,and as a consolation we were give a free pill to take ,i managed to get on board the shuttle bus and into the airport whereupon i was violently ill and collapsed and required assistance to board the aircraft .. Previous cruises we have been on the standards of hygiegn have been high , not so on marrella dream , so,,never again tui . You must do better . Read Less

A group of 14 of us holidayed on this wonderful ship and all were thoroughly pleased. A huge thank you to Andrew, Putu and Raymond (Orion Resturant staff) who were fantastic hosts and looked after us very well, putting on a smile and welcoming us with open arms every evening. Furthermore, a huge well done to the theatre show team who are all incredibly talented and obviously put hours and hours in behind the scenes to deliver the evening entertainment and offer guests the opportunity to be entertained by a variety of shows and acts. Well done to you ladies and gentlemen! As for the bar staff and waiters, your outgoing personalities and commitment to ensuring guests are looked after is something to be admired. I'd also like to say thank you to our cabin hostess Aiko. Your freindly smile and greeting in the mornings really set the tone for the rest of the day! I look forward to our next TUI cruise. well done guys, keep up the great work! Read Less

Things were different from Thomson, First its find your way to your cabin. The cabins were clean and our cabin steward worked hard and was friendly so far so good. Then the first meal in the main restaurant was not so good and things did not get better. The Gala meal was cold and the service so slow we missed the show. Also the waiters were reluctant to serve coffee. The food in the Lido buffet was no better but at least the service was good with the staff happier. Entertainment was mixed the show team was very good along with one of the bands. But the other band was not. Getting a seat in any of the bars at night was difficult . Some of the entertainment seemed to have been cobbled together very quickly. The shop staff were not happy in there work and really could not be bothered. The ship is getting very old with a lot of work being carried out on the outside with the noise of drilling during the day. In summary 3 star food and 3 star service. Read Less

We were last on the Columbus in June 2017 for the Iceland cruise, and booked this with two other friends. We had an upgrade to a Junior Suite with a balcony and, although the cabin had not been refurbished as far as we could see, was very comfortable and roomy, with a good shower and a sofa and armchair plus a small balcony. Embarkation was fine, reasonably well organised bearing in mind the numbers of passengers. There was about a 45 minute a delay in disembarkation at Tilbury, whether it was down to the ship or the port authority at Tilbury we do not know. Some passengers seem to be very upset and annoyed by this but it was a case of just being patient. The ship was beautifully decorated for Christmas, and we found the atmosphere just right, festive but not overwhelmingly Christmassy ie: no Christmas piped music! The first couple of days in the restaurant were a bit chaotic, and we felt sorry for the staff who were doing their best but appeared to be thrown in at the deep end. However, it got sorted out eventually and we were more than happy with the service, both in the restaurants and cabin. The entertainment was some of the best we have seen on CMV ships, especially the wonderful Tatiana (violin), Lana (piano), Jordana and Angelina (opera)... please hold on to them! The shows were excellent, especially the Panto, and the two comedians were very good. Dancing was first rate too. The main restaurant was beautifully decorated for both Christmas and New Year, and the party atmosphere, once again, was just right. The food... mostly excellent although the portions seem to be larger than before. My favourite were the scones at afternoon tea, delicious, least favourite were the pancakes at breakfast, only because they seemed very dry and broke up as soon as you tried to pick them up. The chefs did an excellent outside barbecue when the weather got better as well. I still think that thought needs to be given to extending the seating area around Connexions... it is very difficult to get a seat for the events held there. To sum up, a very enjoyable cruise, we like this cruise line and have booked the Northern Lights one for this October. We only booked a couple of shore excursions this time, we find them not particularly good value for money but they are optional. Read Less

please do not go on this ship if you are in a wheelchair or have poor mobility. it is totally unsuitable, the ship is shabby and threadbare carpets the cabins, and we had a suite are totally unsuitable very poor. the food is rubbish even when u spend extra to have a steak was all fatty and grisly. the entertainment is not much except for the band in the riverside who I must say were very good as were the bar staff in there the only plus on the trip. Was the holiday from hell, awful do not go on this ship. We travelled with three children my youngest who is 12 is in a wheelchair good job its a small one or he would not of even fitted through the doors let alone into the shower room which was totally unsuitable. the only good staff where in the riverside I found others very rude. this trip has put me off cruising for good would never go on another one. As a first time cruiser I didn't know what to expect..This was the best holiday that I have had. We went all inclusive and as I drink Smirnoff, this was on the drinks package, you can upgrade to premium, but I didn't bother. There were 8 of us and we usually managed to sit together. The waiter Joseph was exception as was the wine waiter Alpha, No queuing at the bar....drinks were brought to you. Food was very good, especially in the Orion restaurant, it was amazing. Cabins were clean with plenty of space Lifts were a bit slow but hey ho....no rush We went ashore every day and the ports were close to the shops, we didn't go on the day at sea, could have got wet. Entertainment was good...all in all, the trip was worth every penny...would I go on this ship again....YES I certainly would. PS..the lifeboat drill was a laugh, but it had to be done Read Less

Chose this cruise for the canaries itinerary. Flight and transfer to ship was fine, bit of a wait for embarkation but not too bad. Cabin 7048 outside plus, nice space, clean, bathroom ok needing some updating. Bed was comfortable, air conditioning was extremely annoying especially during the night. Lounges and theatre were good spaces although upholstery was a bit dirty in places. Show performers were ok, but I couldn’t sit through more than one! All a bit loud really. The entertainment in the lounges was pretty dire, and we really didn’t need to have them on the sun deck during the day too. Food was mediocre. Orion restaurant food was lukewarm at best and portion sizes were pretty small. The lido restaurant basically had the same food and it was hot, much better option. Christmas lunch was extremely disappointing, surely they could have managed a nice turkey meal with all the trimmings. Staff friendly enough but like others have said felt invisible sometimes trying to get a drink in the lounges. The nail in the coffin for us was the coach transfer back to the airport. We were dropped off nowhere near the tui check in desks and our coach appeared to be targeted by pickpockets as my husband and at least 4 other passengers were robbed as they were getting cases from the luggage hold. Tui staff and police were informed, they seemed to be aware of the problem but no warnings were given to passengers. Serious neglect in duty of care to customers Tui! Read Less

Chose this cruise as we have been on the Dream 3times before but won’t be going on that ship again It was obvious that standards have fallen dramatically the carpets were threadbare in some areas the cabins were kept clean but the towels and sheets were grey and thin the pillows were most uncomfortable lumpy and definitely needed replaced. We ate in the Orion in the evening but sad to say the quality of the meals was much poorer than on previous times The outbreak of sickness seemed to be quite bad on the day we left l mentioned to the officer that l was shocked at the lack of control with hand sanitisation and oddly enough within an hour staff were positioned at the entrance to restaurant making sure hands were sprayed The entertainment needs to be updated the quizzes during the day are now old hat and no longer funny , towel and napkin folding....well enough said Despite all the above we have nothing but praise for the staff who work very hard and cannot do enough for you Read Less
