A quieter and more refined version of Saga

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Scarlet Lady

We expected different but I was surprised at what Virgin have done well but perhaps more surprised at what they did badly. First of all the App since your whole experience revolves around it functioning correctly. We were a party of 6 with a mix of IOS and Android phones and so can authoritively say the failings of the app are not down to the operating system of your phone. Everyone of us had ...

We booked a Rock Star Suite on the Scarlet Lady for a 4 day cruise from Portsmouth Aug 16th 2021. Really disappointed in so many things apart from the staff who were really pleasant and very helpful. Everything revolves around the “App” if you ask for a menu they tell you to scan the image and go onto the App, if you need to ask customer service anything they advise go on the App. If you want to ...

Not What We Expected From Richard Branson Brand

Not sure who they are trying to appeal to as there main clientele. We always like to try a new cruise company, so oppertunity for this cruise was to tempting to resist, boarding was a bit of a to do , only recently completed a MSC Cruise with PCR Test which was very smooth, this was far from that, PCR test site away from Port as we traveled by train this meant two different sites to ...

Not good for disabled cruisers

Have cruised for several years and when the 'staycations' started thought I would try a few new ships to see which I liked in preparation for 2022 cruises. We had a Rock Star Posh suite which was gorgeous - I loved the huge shower and the balcony – wow! We used the record player a few times, but our neighbours drowned us out with theirs – better sound proofing would have been good. They played ...

What a con

What a con Virgin voyages are. We booked an XL balcony cabin which we were very happy with it was very spacious with a separate loo & shower cubicle. The 1st & 2nd night we eat in the Wake where the food & service was excellent. The 3rd night we went to the Italian restaurant which was a disaster, I ordered sea bass but no starter, my husband ordered a starter followed by sea bass. His starter ...

A missed opportunity

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Scarlet Lady

The Scarlet Lady is a lovely ship – easy to navigate. Good facilities that offer numerous opportunities to relax. The cabins are spacious though may be short of storage space for a 14-day cruise. Apart from a light switch for the bathroom light all other controls are on your stateroom tablet – which if it fails requires your cabin to be “re-booted”. This happened twice during our 4 day cruise. ...

Nice ship but norovirus meant many activities cancelled

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Spirit Of Discovery

We wanted to try a smaller ship, and in that regard things were good: it's much easier to get around. We'd never been with Saga before and we weren't expecting such a high average age: a senior member of the crew told me the average age in this cruise was 76. The public areas are nice but the ceilings seem a little low. Great outside verandas at the stern of each deck. The theatre seats are ...

First cruise with Saga after two excellent Saga touring holidays (US national parks and Borneo)previously. Chose this cruise because we had never been to the Canaries and that this ship has balconies for all, not available on older Saga ships. We thought it was more expensive than others but then we were getting taxi to and from Southampton and all inclusive once on board not to mention the ...

Third consecutive cruise with Norovirus and no warning.

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Spirit Of Discovery

Brand new ship and wanted to see Northern lights, plus all inclusive. Trouble started when a stop at Narvik was cancelled and then our pickup was deferred twice, On arrival we waited an hour and 20 minutes before we were allowed on board and shown by a guide to the cabin we had booked to find it already occupied. Over the next few hours/days we discovered that the delays were caused by norovirus ...

We wanted to celebrate our 70 th birthdays this year and to see the Northern lights if possible. The Norovirus situation ruined the cruise. For it to happen is unfortunate. To happen on two consecutive cruises is worrying but for the problem to still not be resolved on a third trip is irresponsible. We were told that the ship would be delayed for a deep clean due to one or two cases of ...
