We took the Venezia to eastern Canada. The ship is very beautiful with a lot of Italian decor (golds). The elevators are an interesting technology. You enter the floor you wish to go to & it tells you which elevator to take. You arrive at your destination pretty quickly most of the time.
We had a fwd facing OV room that has a deck you have access to in the hallway. The space for putting your ...
We wanted to see the Eastern shoreline and hoped to see Fall leaves, we were a bit early it seems. Everyone at Viking went out of their way to make us comfortable and happy. Viking has an excellent crew from the crew director, the bar staff and the cleaning service. We met new friends and so enjoyed the enrichment lectures. The food was delicious and the spirit package made it more special. ...
We chose this cruise and ship for the itinerary - Toronto to Fort Lauderdale. The ship is immaculate from top to bottom. But the best part of all is the crew and by the time you leave the ship you really feel like you belong to a big family. I have to mention the waiters: Alex, Tri, Kevin, Redy, Maria and Mariel. They were all outstanding (as were all the others). The officers from the top down ...
This is our third Viking sailing and it exceeded our expectations in every way. Our previous Viking experiences were on River ships in Europe that we enjoyed so very much, so this one was quite different, but just as fantastic as the others. The Octantis is a small ocean going vessel with only a 377 maximum passenger load. In this case apparently there were fewer than the full complement of ...
This was my first cruise and it didn't disappoint. I chose a smaller ship because I wanted a more personal experience. Viking Octantis carries only about 368 passengers.
From the coffee shop to the sit down restaurant, the food was really great with an interesting variety of choices, many reflecting the culture of crew members.
The staff and crew operate in a culture of high quality service, ...
We chose this cruise to see areas we have not previously visited. For two weeks, we were pampered royally, fed deliciously, entertained in a variety of ways, educated in areas pertinent to our travels, and toured comfortably and informatively. The attention to detail by all the staff was second to none.
We especially enjoyed the variety of foods and the opportunity to eat in different ...
I live in Minnesota and often visit Lake Superior but also wanted to visit the other Great Lakes. I wanted to be out in nature and see the beauty of the areas. This cruise really provided that! Yes, we did visit several big cities such as Detroit, Michigan, Cleveland, Ohio, and Toronto Ontario which have some of their own beauty. But the vistas, the clean, fresh air of the islands was phenomenal! ...
First, an explanation of the title of this review. We had a bad experience on a previous Viking cruise. We had decided to take this already scheduled cruise and then be done with Viking. To jump to the punchline, this cruise was so wonderful and so inclusive that we booked to additional cruises on board. One is an Ocean cruise and the other is another cruise on the Viking Polaris.
Embarkation ...
I had never even heard of Ambassador before stumbling upon The Grand Canada, Greenland and Iceland cruise. The destinations were the pull and I was ready to "put up with" a budget cruiseline and a very old ship to see them. I boarded with very low expectations and after 34 nights onboard I'm completely hooked! Nowhere at sea have I experienced an entire crew that really really do their utmost to ...
We travelled before with Quark Expeditions and it was fantastic (to the Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica). This time (september 2023) we wanted to visit Greenland and the Canadian high Artic. The choice for Quark was easy because of our experience on the other trip and it was again excellent! Everything was fantastic, the room, staff, food (buffet lunch, a la carte diner with great wine), ...
