First of all this is not a criticism - we enjoyed our cruise and the Escape is a lovely ship. The weather is never something that can be predicted and/or avoided.

We had FCC about to expire; therefore, chose to take this cruise. Our obstructed view cabin (category OV) was not obstructed at all. What a nice surprise!

I was given a balcony cabin through the casino. I upgraded at booking to a mini suite and then through the move up offers, to a reserve class mini. The cabin was spacious with a nice bathroom. This was our second trip on the Pearl. Previous trip was some years ago before the refurbishment. Since then things have changed. The entertainment requires some serious makeover. On the day of the cruise we flew into Newark, NJ and had prepaid the RC shuttle from the airport to the cruise port. There were about 80 people at the airport terminal and they sent one bus which only holds 50 people so after waiting two hours in 90 degree heat a second bus finally arrived. What we liked: Everything Viking did was great! The ship was modern, spotless, right-sized....just an overall wonderful ship. The staff and crew were very friendly and always willing to help.
