I've been to so many cruises before embarking in this one. We decided to take this one because of the destination and because our family lives in NY and they wanted to go on this ship... Worst cruise EVER! The ship is giant, but lacks of free activities, no nightclubs no nothing!!! Shoes get overcrowded because of the lack of activities, then you have to make those nig lines to attend any activity you pick, swimming pools are SO OVERCROWDED that people who use them look like SEA LIONS IN SF piers lol. We never got to use the swimming pool due to the overcrowding. Food is horrible, the only thing I wanted to eat was chicken wings since the rest of the food was always the same and average, nothing that you would have said "wow, delicious food" We ate at 2 of the specialty restaurants which I was ecpecting something better... In conclusion, I think we overpaid for this cruise, stateroom service was just okay... showers were not as clean as we expect and bathroom was smelly. Rooms are way too small!!!! At the end, we got trapped at the casinos due to the lack of free activities (which have NEVER happened to me while cruising) they make you buy bingo cards, deal or no deal cards, etc etc. If you are.a gambler this is the right boat for you hahaha. Shopping area is way too small, three or four stores and done. The boat is too dark in colors, nothing fancy like other boats, the only bling bling it has is the shiny decoration by the stairs.... Come on!!! We need BLING BLING!!! We meed good service and something more organized. We pay for it! And to end the story: disembarking was such a mess. Lots of people carrying their luggage from 15th and 14th floor down the stairs due to the lack of elevators. SUCH WASTE OF MONEY! GOING BACK TO MY FAV CRUISE LINE! Read Less

The boat was overcrowded and not enough staff to attend to everyone. Since gratuities were suppose to be paid all upfront they did not have to work hard to get people there food or drinks, I waited 20-30 min for drinks and at dinner took 2hrs. at least. But then once you are on the boat they hit you with a 15$per person per day charge for someone to make up your room. If you want decent food you have to go to the specialty restaurant and pay for it. The adult pool was so small and way overcrowded. They had another adult pool but it had limited spots and fee was 210 per person for the week. The Spa was a nice facility. So one would think that after you pay for an overpriced massage you can use the rest of the amenities there but No that's an extra fee too. So be wary when you think you have an all inclusive they are so many hidden fees. Also the shows sucked, Royal Caribbean is such a better cruise line. Read Less

What can i say more than a horrible vacation? The boat was overbooked..too many people everywhere..not one place next to the pool to reserve a chair, noisy boat with under age kids drinking and screaming..we had hate notes left on our door several times..gum on our door handle and the security officer told us that it wasnt their priority to see who might have done that and that camera footage was only made to check for the casino. the food is always the same thing in the buffet and changes slightly in the restaurants..activites and boring the staff was rude and didnt look like they wanted to be there..this is my first time on norwegian and i can promise you its my last!! dont go there if you want a peaceful vacation. i thought by seeing many reviews that this boat was going to be fun but the boat is very old and needs a major update in style. My wife and I decided to take our three kids on a cruise. This was my first cruise and my wife had been on a couple many years ago. Our kids are 7, 10, and 11. I'll work from cruise start to finish so I don't miss anything. We loaded into the ship at NYC port. The load in wasn't bad at all until we reached the buffet on the Lido deck. That is when we realized that we weren't alone on this cruise LOL. There were people everywhere!!! The buffet line was LONG and once you got some food, there were absolutely no seats available unless you stood by a table waiting for a family to get up. Once we finally found a seat after walking around for 5 minutes with 3 young boys, we started to eat and lets just say the food was less than desirable. Thursday night was our first night and I think we made the most of a disgustingly overcrowded ship. Friday morning rolls around and we are greeted with some annoying voice over the PA system waking us up with things to do. Once we we got out of our room, we went to the Lido deck for some lounge and pool action... Sadly, there were absolutely no lounge chairs for us to sit. The boys ran to the teeny, tiny disgusting pool and my wife and I stood around in disbelieve. There are too many people on this cruise ship. When walked to the pool in the rear of the boat, we found that the layout of the pool caused massive bottlenecks. Shirtless people with tons of lotion bumping into me because there is little room to move from the front to back of boat on the Lido deck is not what I envisioned when booking this cruise. When I went to speak with customer care desk, I waited in yet another line only to hear that maybe cruises aren't right for me ..... lol... The woman actually said that its possible that the cruise ship is great and I am just not the "cruise type" LMAO. Saturday was nice in Bermuda. My family and I had a nice day snorkeling and hanging on beach. When we got back on the boat we decided to go to the ropes course and play some basketball with the boys. Sadly, the basketball court was packed with 20 people. The ropes course was great for the kids but the two staff were terrible. The man was talking with some guy right next to my 7 year old son while he waited in line to get a harness. The woman behind was talking to another participant. I told my son to start getting his harness on since nobody was there to help at which time the woman started yelling at my son and I. Do your job and you wouldn't have this issue. When my son was done, he cam down the stairs with 7-8 other people and they got yelled at for coming down the "wrong stairs". She said she had instructed everyone prior to the ropes course and my son didn't listen. Well, seems like everyone didn't listen or you didn't explain properly. Sunday was filled with more of the same nonsense. Lines, bottlenecks, and swimming pools that saw more people than water. The pools were absolutely disgusting. If your kid can't swim, rather than stick them in the pool with a massive life jacket, keep him out of the pool. Must have been 30 kids with giant yellow vests on. lol Monday was a day for exiting the cruise. The buffet was opened and then closed and the dining room closed early as well. We sat with our bags in a shuttered bar on the 5th floor and waited about 2 hours to leave the ship. I could be wrong but it seems like they could have made our last couple hours on the cruise a bit more enjoyable. I am sorry to say but this cruise was not good. Not sure we will ever try another cruise again. Read Less

The quality of the crew, their attentiveness and professionalism was far lacking. It was apparent they did not care to be on the ship. From boarding to disboarding the overall attitude toward passengers made me wish I was not there. The quality of the food was horrendous, soups had no whole ingredients and were clearly powdered. I myself was sick the entire trip! The setup on ship was a detriment to anyone not there with a whole family as they corralled guests into areas such as Skyline for evening parties (an area much too small for all guests) and then closed the only place to get a drink when passengers engaged in fighting due to the cramped conditions. The adult only pools/ hot tubs were nearly never enforced! I never got to enjoy the pool/ hot tub areas due to an excess of children present at all times splashing and screaming. When I put forth the money to get a spa experience in hopes of some kind of relaxation I was shorted the whole service (tip to toe) including a collagen eye treatment I never received even after asking about completing the service. It was nearly impossible to find a quiet space or other singles on the ship. I spent more money on this cruise than my last and am utterly shocked by my experience with Norwegian as a whole. No kind of vacation I would choose for myself again. Read Less

My family and I went on the Norwegian Escape on July 7th to Bermuda. Let me start with the pro's getting on and off the ship was excellent. It was fast and smooth. The Specialty Restaurants were excellent. We had dinner at Cagney's, Teppanyaki and La Cucina and the food and service was excellent. Now for the con's -- most rude and nasty staff. They never had a smile on their faces and seemed bothered all the time. The amount of sighs we received was crazy. The food in the buffet is terrible and disgusting. The same everyday. The Manhattan Room (main dining room) the food was cold and horrible. Now for the pool, there was no activities very boring. The cruise director was never seen and he was rude. The Choir of the Man was an excellent show. That was only show that we enjoyed. Never again. No NCL. Read Less

We went on the Dawn last Summer and everything about it was perfect so we decided to do it again. Booked the Gem because we like to leave out of Boston. We booked 11 months in advance and decided to do a mini suite . We stayed in one last year and loved the extra room! Not the case on the Gem! We only saw our room steward in hall 3 times. Customer service rep Manuela de Olivera was incredibly rude and combative!! Good customer service is non existent! Never again! Our suite had some kind of bump out that took up additional space in our room. We couldnt walk by our bed to get into room without going sideways! We also couldn’t stand in front of closet and open doors! My son had a balcony room that Was more spacious ! When we asked the desk why it was considered a mini suite the rep became very combative and rude! She said “You are not getting an upgrade!” We told her we didn’t want to move just wanted it noted that cabin 11016 should not be considered a mini suite! She said it was our fault WE didn’t do our homework! She also kept arguing that all mini suites are the same size. (We later found out that our suite was less square footage than typical mini suites.) The customer service rep Manuela kept saying we were wrong so I asked for a manager. He came out and said all mini suites the same. I asked to please come look at it with me. When he got to our room he said you are right this is smaller, also said many others complained about this suite before. Food was poor to mediocre Loved buffet on the Dawn. The Buffett on the Gem was tasteless and similar to school cafeteria type food. Rooms were not kept as clean, they took my dirty and damp towels and rehung them instead of fresh ones. Room AC never got cold. Staff not very friendly. Empty beer cans and trash on ground around pool , very rusty balcony, Played Deal or No Deal. It cost $25 and only one person goes up to play, It said you have to be 18 plus and the name they called has to be present to play. They called a mans name and he wasn’t there so his 2 kids both under 12 went up with aunt and played. One of the kids actually played as contestant. Biggest prize was $500 and only 1 person won. Lots of underage drinking and lots of teenagers in night clubs. Read Less

For a new boat, the Escape had many flaws and was just average. It was ENORMOUS, but not in a good way, in my opinion. Although I have heard good things about Norwegian, my family and I did not love the Escape. First of all, the main adult pool was WAY TOO SMALL for such a big ship. Not sure why they designed such a big boat with such a small pool. And the worst part of it was, it was either 8 feet deep where you had to tread water, or you had to sit on the side, but because the pool was so small, there was never anywhere to sit. Second, because there are 4000 people on this ship, the decks were lined up with endless rows of lounge chairs so tight that it was extremely hard to pass through and we felt like sardines while we layed out. There were no tables whatsoever to put food or drinks down either. Would’ve been nice to see some comfortable lounge seating with tables on the upper deck by the glass. Although lounge seating is available on the eighth floor deck but it is very cool and shaded and is in a designated “quiet area”. The restaurants had good food, but not great like you would expect on a cruise. It was just OK. Water slides and zip lines always had long lines and my kids went on only once. (Personally, I thought they were an eyesore on the boat.) Service overall was friendly. Their show “After Midnight” was the only entertainment I really enjoyed. However, the ship did have a lot of very nice tucked away bars and the drinks were delicious, using top shelf liquor. Overall ship was very clean. Embarkation and disembarkation was extremely smooth considering the amount of people. Read Less

The restaurants had some of the worst food I have ever had and the service was terribly slow. It seemed like they bought the cheapest buffet food online and then tried to feed it to us! Half the buffet was closed almost all of the time and half of the golf course was closed off when we got there! The remote in our room only worked about .3% of the time. I finally was able to rent a movie on the tv and then the TV glitched and deleted it! It was $10.00 for the movie! The woman at the Atrium bar was very rude and made consistently rude comments to us so we complained to customer service and they were unable to assist us. Everything from the pool tables to the regular tables looked run down and old. We turned on the light to have our room made up and towels exchanged and the cleaning woman came in turned off the light and closed the door! She did not clean the room, exchange the towels or even come back! The room service was a joke and took forever to get there. They forgot a part of the same order 3 times and brought it town 2 hours later. We had to keep calling to follow up. The entertainment was lacking and the movies were showed in the Atrium which is located in the center of the ship so you could not hear anything! We were just happy to get off the forsaken nightmare that was that ship. I have cruised with Princess, Royal Carribean and Celebrity and have never had a bad experience on their ships. Save your money and go with a different company or you will have a bad time. Read Less

Getting onboard and off went very smoothly. comfortable rooms, great meals, great entertainment and lots for my granddaughters to do. They especially loved the Splash Academy on board!!! They kept asking to go there. The port in Bermuda has lots to see and do and transportation is everywhere. We ordered the premium drink package so we enjoyed many different types of drinks!!! The Stardust Theatre is beautiful and the shows there were wonderful!!!! The band that played by the pool was awesome and everyone was so into the music!!!! I think they should have played longer though! My daughter, daughter-in-law and I all went to the Spa and got massages!!! They had a great deal for a twilight massage!!! Read Less

This was my first cruise experience. My coworkers tell me to try again, but I just can't. It was an extremely rocky ride...so I struggled. It did smell like sewage the whole time. The other guests on the cruise were rude to the workers and were beyond overwhelming. There was a fight in the eating area...which was absolutely absurd. The families on the cruise let their children run around and food was everywhere. A woman literally barged into the drink line and put her personal water container on the lip of the water to refill it for ten minutes. It was like eating at Golden Corral the whole time. I became extremely sick and spent the night in bed and going to the bathroom. I did take medicine for sea sickness...but it might have been a combination of the food, sugary alcohol drinks, rocking of the ship and the sewage smell. Leaving the ship was a nightmare. We were stuck with a 1000 other people in stairways and people started fighting. Thank God there was not a major catastrophe!! The police did board the ship in New York and take the people that were fighting. The staff were exceptional and kind. I felt so bad that they had to put up with the other guests. I would NEVER work on a cruise line. God bless them all!!! The entertainment was phenomenal, and it definitely helped me get through the weekend. There were multiple family reunions on the ship....so if I ever thought of going on one again....it would not be one with large family reunions. It was a family reunion ship where I was related to nobody and did not want to be there!!! Read Less

I've just returned from our Carnival Sunrise Cruise. I love cruising and I've cruised many times but I was so disturbed and overwhelmed by this cruise. First off the food and crew were good. But that was about it. I was traveling with my daughter, her husband and 3 children for their first very much anticipated family cruise. First day weather was bad and all activities were closed (pools, slides, ropes, everything! My 6 year old grandson got sick and medical on board was not always open and Did Not have children's Tylenol...really? There were 2 small pools and not enough deck chairs....the six of us had to share 1 deck chair. This ship holds 3300 passengers but ship's amenities cannot accommodate them! Drinks packages, which were extra $ couldn't be used until the next day when we were in international waters. We were supposed to have the 2nd seating for dinner but upon arrival found that we had to have a reservation. Bar service was very slow. Food lines were slow, especially the pizza line...and it was hard to find a table to sit. I was looking forward to lobster and steak...but sadly this would have been more money, it wasn't included. There was a big fight that broke out with 20-30 people throwing deck chairs...there was another altercation among 3-4 men, luckily it didn't end in fist fighting. On disembarkation, the police boarded.....not what you expect! This ship is touted as the Fun Ships, but it was too darn crowded and Nothing about it was fun! Needless to say, my family will never cruise again.....I may, but definitely not on Carnival! Read Less

I have thoroughly enjoyed all of my Norwegian cruises except for my recent one week June cruise (June 2019) roundtrip from New York City to Bermuda. The cruise was aboard the Norwegian Escape. I was shocked by how poorly designed the ship was for over 4000 people and how unfriendly some of the staff was. I have been on large ships (4000+) of two other cruise lines -- Princess and MSC. These ships were comfortable and could easily accommodate all of the passenger. HOWEVER, THE NORWEGIAN ESCAPE WAS FILLED WITH CRAMPED AND UNCOMFORTABLE SPACES AND DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH STAFF TO PROPERLY HANDLE ALL OF THE PASSENGER. The Design of the Escape First of about the cabin. I have never had such a small balcony cabin on any ship that I have ever been on. The cabin was long and narrow -- Not really enough space to easily move around the cabin. There was insufficient storage for clothes so we had to keep some of our things in our suitcases. The bathroom was a comfortable size, but I would have accepted a smaller bathroom to have increased living area. The balcony was the smallest I ever stepped foot on. The lounges and bar areas were extremely small and some were oddly shaped so that patrons could not view the stage entertainment from where they were seated. The pool area was small and the pools were small as well. The whole area was cramped and because of upper decks, we felt like we were surrounded by skyscrapers which blocked most of the sun. The gym area not only was not tiny with insufficient equipment for 4000 guests,, but also did not have showers, saunas, and only had single patron washrooms. I could go on, but I think I have given you a good idea of why we will never go on the Escape or other Breakaway class ships of Norwegian Cruise Lines. The Staff The Guest Services Staff, the Casino Staff, and the Future Cruise Consultants made excuses about problems rather than being helpful. Many times they were very defensive about what had happened. Just one example. The Casino occasionally gave Canadian and Bermudian money in change when casing a ticket for a guest. They have given me 80 cents -- 60 cents Canadian and 10 cents US. When I returned to the Casino cashier, she denied that they had given me the change. Guest Services was no help either. So I returned to the Casino staff and argued my case. Eventually they gave me 70 cents for the Canadian and kept the Bermudian dime. Housekeeping was not responsive to us at all. When we requested that our towels be replaced, they said they would. We contacted them a second time. However, we had to go to Guest Services in person to request towels. We tried to call Guest Services and they never answered the phone for us. Our Cabin steward was lackadaisical. This cruise was the first time that we did not give our cabin steward an extra tip. However, the serving staff in the restaurants and in the buffet were absolutely excellent. The food was very good. Bermuda was great as well. The only positive things about the cruise. Overall, the cruise ship and staff were a disappointment and I will avoid Norwegian's larger ships. Read Less

This is my 5th cruise with Norwegian. We usually take the cruises out of Miami which the ships are a lot bigger and offer more things to do.but decided to go out of Boston because it was an hour away drive.Although it cost twice as much to go on this cruise compared to cruises in Miami where there bigger and newer. If this is your first cruise i guess you would enjoy it but being my 5th cruise the food was awful. The bathrooms were dirty the paper towels were overflowing in the trash. There was no soap to wash your hands in the bathrooms and you were lucky if you found a bathroom door that locked.Dirty dishes left all around the ship for days. No one ever picked them up! We got one towel animal the first night and that was it. My daughter always looked forward to them.FYI - For teenagers there really wasn't much to do very boring.I guess the ship had a plumbing issue because it smelled like sewage though out the whole ship.FYI if you pay for the medical insurance you still have to pay on the ship to see a Doctor.$150 just to look at you so its a waste of money for the insurance and the Doctor on this ship was very rude and i wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't a physician at all. Definitively wouldn"t ever go on this ship again!!.Well I think it's time to try Royal Caribbean. Read Less

Our room steward took 3 days before he finally met us. The announcment speaker was broken. Steele cabin doors slammed all hours of the day and night. The worst was the food. On the Gem it was horrible!!! Except the pool side bbq. The food tasted frozen and packaged then warmed up. Anything under a heat lamp was dried out. We ate fruit for days. Entertainment was boring. Though it was a good buy to beautiful Bermuda - but was mistaken -the actual cost was nearly three times the ad price.. .Low quality, not fun and they actually yelled at us customers! Buyer beware - use a travel agent. At departure off the ship at 7:45 am, they had us jammed in the elevator area with our luggage and squished further as more people came out the elevators for more than 20 minutes! They yelled at us as we tried to get out of one another's way in the congestion! Very stress full, uncomfortable and unnecessary for our last impression. My other three cruise you just walk off the ship. The water slides were frequently down for repair and when the were running the water flow was so low you hardly slid at all more like crawling down the slide. The Atrium area was often very congested because of poor design and the lack of space on the ship. The entertainment was often poor . Things were canceled often. Some were just sales tricks to get your money. Choir of Man and After Midnight were very good shows ! The food was fair to poor. Twice I got fishy salmon. Food was often over cooked and dry. They give out very small piece of watermelon infrequently. The deserts are mostly just puddings. Read Less

Well this is going to be a long review so get ready folks. As an avid cruiser (this was my 11th) I was really looking forward to going back to Bermuda for 3rd time. Please remember in this review Bermuda itself is incredible! The people! The beaches! It is paradise. I'd still say check out Bermuda but just on this ship. So the check in process was easy but it felt like cattle. The seating area was tight and awkward. Thank god that wait was only about 30 minutes. Once we got on at first I was so excited because I was on anthem to Bermuda back in May 2016 on my honeymoon so my husband & I were trying to "recreate" the trip. I am aware on boarding day that ships are usually busier but holy crap was this ship a nightmare. The layout just doesn't allow for everyone to be comfortable. It was just packed and miserable. This cruise also had a lot of children so if you aren't a fan of that just be aware. I am talking many from under 1 to teenagers. Be prepared for many screaming kids, running around everywhere, and the teens roam the ship all day/night (they are have a 1am curfew which shocked me). To touch on the cabin. We got an inside cabin which was fine. The only thing I can say is the virtual balcony sound didn't work, and many times the screen would randomly go black and stop working. For an inside it was a good size, and decent layout. The bed however was HORRIBLE! The sea day on the way back was rocky and being the very back you feel it more and every wave we physically rolled in the bed. That rolling causes a creak in the bed so you can imagine how hard it was to fall asleep. The walls are also paper thin so as the waves got nasty we could hear everyone puking around us. Lovely eh? I am now going to touch on the worst part of the cruise which breaks my heart because to me the food is such a large part of the cruise. I am loyal to Princess which always has amazing food. Well RCL you sucked in the food department. The food just lacked flavor (I never use salt on other lines but you needed it on everything). Say a breakfast potato (its as if they just boiled it and served it). Also as someone who cruises a lot I love trying new foods from around the world but I was reminded how "american" the food can be on RCL. Every night the buffet was the same and honestly there wasn't much change from lunch to dinner. We opted for the anytime dining option but it was constantly so busy we never went to the dining room. I understand you have to pre book but when you just aren't sure when you will return to the ship or what shows/activities you will be doing I find the concept of pre booking "anytime dining" very ironic. Don't call it anytime if you cannot go anytime!!! I am going to touch on the service now. I've never had bad service on a cruise ever but this one was a bit sad. I felt if you weren't buying something they weren't bothered (especially by the pool bars). Also I just found it hard to get help in various venues, and our cabin stewart was miserable. On princess I love making small talk, and learning about them. I think cruising is so incredible how so many people from all over the world work on one vessel. But we couldn't get a word out of him. Just a lack of smiles and honestly it was sad because I wondered if RCL treated their employees right because their unhappiness showed. Activities lacked. All the fancy bumper cars, ifly, and etc we didn't go on because it would be full of bratty children. I could drown on and on about this cruise. Overall it lacked in almost every aspect. Dining, room, activites, service. One last thing. RCL needs to stop nickel and diming. Here is a quick PRINCESS vs RCL. Popcorn on RCL they wanna charge like $3.50 vs princess its free! Room service on RCL they wanna charge $8 plus 18% vs princess its free! Drinks are pushed everywhere at all times vs princess they don't really bug you! Movies in the cabin on RCL are $12 vs princess has many movies to watch for free! So if I were you I'd rethink that bermuda RCL cruise. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we had heard positive things. Very disappointed, we took this cruise for out fortieth wedding anniversary. Cold food was served starting the first night and every meal after that except at O’Sheehans. The specialty restaurants weren’t any better than the rest of the dining. We paid all of our fees before we took the cruise and were still charged $30.00 every day. I will not take another Norwegian cruise line cruise. We were charged to play some of the games and the biggest prize that an audience member won during Deal or no Deal was $50.00. The cards cost $25.00 per card. I really was disappointed because you hear so much about how good the food is and you look forward to this. It certainly did not even come close to what I have read. The shows were good. I will give the, that. I enjoyed all the shows that I attended. Read Less

My significant other and I just returned from the Boston to Bermuda cruise (5/3-5/10). We were on a Royal Caribbean cruise in December which we enjoyed very much but unfortunately we were very disappointed in the cruise on the Gem for several reasons. I purposely took notes so that I could let the customer relations department know about my first Norwegian experience. I do not believe you can fix something if you are unaware the problem exists. • 5/4 during our first experience at the pool below the upper bar, it was a windy day and the trash from above was blowing down into the pool area (cigarette boxes, cups, wrappers). It would be one thing if someone was cleaning this up and on top of it but the trash sat there and accumulated the entire time we were at the pool. There were plenty of people standing at a table pushing spa products but nobody to pick up or sweep the area. • We had a couples pedicure scheduled for the morning at 9:00am that we scheduled during our tour of the spa. Not one person mentioned to us there is a time difference and that we should adjust our phones accordingly. Although it may have been written someplace it was the next morning and we had no idea. The spa called us three or four times and we answered the phone but nobody said anything. We learned 10 minutes later the cord on the phone was broken and unless you held it a certain way the person on the other end could not hear you speaking. They told us that they could fit us in if we hurried. • 5/5 mid-morning/afternoon we were at the Garden Café and there was a loud banging coming from what I thought was the other side of the bar area so I ran around to see what the loud noise was and the gentleman at the counter informed me they were working in the room behind the bar. Right after that there was loud grinding noise on top of the banging that continued for at least 20 minutes to a half hour or more. • 5/6 approximately 7am we were awoken by loud clanging noise that continued until 9am. When we complained they mentioned something about the life boats but this was still unacceptable at these hours or at all during the cruise. • 5/6 the main pool bar had approximately 20-25 people waiting with one bartender on. • Our friend fell getting off the boat to go to town, when she came back on the boat immediately after falling to get Band-Aids for her road rash knees they told her the doctor would not be available until 5pm. She went to get band aids at the front desk and they told her she could purchase them. • 5/8 it was a beautiful day and everyone was at the pool. Unfortunately both pools were drained and closed. There were men in white coveralls in the pool doing some sort of maintenance for most of the day. At some point they put on masks and were applying some sort of toxic chemical that they were wearing masks to put on. The concerning thing for every guest aside from the inconvenience of the pool being closed was now this incredibly strong chemical smell wafting up into the area where all the guest were sitting without masks. Not only is this a health hazard but just a mindless act that I am shocked Norwegian corporate signed off on. • There were parts of the boat that were roped off and being painted while the cruise hardly half way through. This was not due to the wind that was an entirely different thing and I completely understand the decks being closed off for high wind. • During Bingo the final day there was a 10 minutes hard sell for re-cruising if you book now you can get all of these discounts, which honestly in my opinion was too much considering there was construction on the boat the majority of the time we were cruising. • The final day we headed back to the garden café to get a drink and again there was a group of men in white coveralls painting the stairs white. In summary, I am truly disappointed with the lack of staffing, the lack of professionalism, the nickel and diming for everything. Since when does a premium drink package not include water, soda or coffee? I walked up to more than two bars where the bartenders were either arguing with each other or ignoring the customers. I think it was the first day we sat at O’Sheehans to eat and they said we could eat at the bar but we had to walk over to the hostess stand and get menus. I then pointed out there was a menu right behind the gentleman who said this. I don’t mind walking over to the hostess stand I understand that is the policy when you are trying to be seated in the dining area. This was day one and the lack of interest in the guests or to make us feel welcome should have been a red flag because it was consistent throughout the entire cruise. It is not for us to know that the waiters shouldn’t come behind the bar because the bartender kept yelling at them. I am have been in the hospitality industry my entire work life and know exactly what needs to be done to make someone feel welcome and appreciated. If this was the representation of Norwegian that this company has put forth to keep people cruising on their boats then I can say without a doubt we will be pursuing our next vacation with a different cruise line. The biggest disappointment for me is that I have heard so many great things about Norwegian and was really looking forward to a great vacation. Read Less

During my first two days on the cruise I got food poisoning from O'sheerans bar and grill. The boat was terrible because the rooms were so small and the food was so fake and awful! The boat itself had not much to do on it. It was my boyfriends first time on a cruise and this made him not want to cruise again. The ship did not sail smooth at all. I told staff about this awful experience and they did not care. Everything is so expensive on the ship and a rip-off. I would NOT recommend this to anybody at all. I am very upset with my experience. The staff was nice but the food was terrible and wasn't cook correctly. Shore excursions are so expensive and not worth it at all. Please do not purchase when you can get transportation or things on the island for cheaper. This cruise line tries to get your money. I hope that they really fix this ship and the problems because I am sure many people have felt the same way as I did about this trip. Read Less

Let's just start off by saying that the customer service was awful. No one offered to assist in any way for anything, snapped my sail pass card out of my hand several times, never greeted you in passing, and the lines to even get a drink at any of the bars was too long to even bother - no waiters going around either. The food.. awful. Cafeteria food unless you go to the Specialty Dining - which is an extra cost. We did not have the drink package but each time we purchased a drink it was wrong on our account - as in, if it was a 'drink of the day' it should have been $8.95 and it would show up on the account as $14.71. I spent a lot of time at the guest service desk each day to rectify my account - great way to relax. Activities... if you don't play BINGO or Gamble, then just don't even bother. I never thought a cruise could be so disappointing - I felt nickeled and dimed the entire time. Just DON'T.. Norwegian is terrible. Read Less

This cruise was supposed to be 3 days docked in Bermuda. It was the entire reason we booked this cruise in the first place so we could take our time on the island. The itinerary was consistently changing and eventually we ended up with one full day and 2 extremely short partial days. My wife and I ended up spending more money on excursions and having less time to actually enjoy the island (like we originally paid for) No one on the crew really even acknowledged our concerns or offered "anything at all" to try to make it better. I would think it was maybe just my personal thoughts alone, however, virtually every other passenger I came in contact with was complaining about the same thing. I have been on 6 Carnival cruises in the last several years. I generally don't bargain shop for cruises... I see a cruise I like and I book it. Carnival has been my go-to in the past, however this last experience has caused me to start looking elsewhere for future cruises. The sad part is, that for the most part the crew was as expected... the food was as expected.... the entertainment was as expected but the fact that the itinerary was drastically changed.... and then.... there were no apologies from the crew, nor was there really any acknowledgement that this may negatively impact peoples vacations. Its as if everyone tried to sweep it under the rug. That's the part I have the biggest issue with. It has caused me to lose faith in Carnival. Sadly, my 5 previous cruises were great, but this last cruise will most likely be my last with Carnival. Read Less

I chose this cruise for the time that was allotted to staying in Bermuda. It was changed and we were cheated time on the island. The only reason I booked the cruise was for the time I was told we would be there which was changed and I do not know why. We had a balcony room. The first night something sweeked all night. I reported it woke up the next morning it was still sweeking. Told the cabin staff person he went and found it. It was a door left ajar. The next night the people in the cabin had a huge argument at 4 in the morning which last for an hour and half. One evening the room smelled so bad that I literately thought I was going to lose my dinner. We were in a cabin in which the room attendant never put up the bunk beds so we literally had one chair and one stool for four people. I had to move my bed to the middle of the floor at night because I thought if it as a jail cell. (Not that I know what that really feels like). I am a gold member so this was not my first cruise, but may be my last on Carnival. I am going to file a complaint. No one on our bus going back to parking lot said they wanted to return when asked by the bus driver. This ship needs to be docked and Carnival needs to refund passengers money for this cruise!!!!!
