I chose this cruise because of the St. Petersburg stop, which, of course, was cancelled because of the war in Ukraine. I had booked this cruise on Crystal for 2020. It was postponed to 2021 and then 2022. Crystal went bankrupt in January 2022. Having been on Viking on the Yangtze River Cruise, we thought we would try Viking on the same itinerary. This time we were on a Viking vessel (as opposed to ...
We had this cruise booked from back in mid 2020 to celebrate my wife's retirement in 2022. When we were advised of the itinerary change due to the war in Ukraine we had a long discussion regarding whether we still took the cruise or rebooked - our reason for booking was St Petersburg as neither of us had visited Russia. We made the decision to go ahead with the revised "Scenic Scandinavia" ...
We were looking for something a bit different from the normal European rivers and the Elbe looked interesting. On the surface it's a typical Viking river cruise - great food, top flight staff, comfortable up to date ship, excellent shore excursions lead by knowledgable and personable guides. But there was something extra on this ship (beyond the best Cruise Director in the industry and the waiter ...
My first ever cruise. Was very much looking forward to the advertised excellent service, fabulous entertainment and delicious food. This ship failed on all points. The service in the majority of the restaurants was very slow, receiving your bottle of wine half way through your main course is not good enough. The entertainment was basic and lasted just 40 minutes per show. The britannia restaurant ...
My first Royal Caribbean cruise, and really enjoyed it. The ship's layout was great, as was the entertainment and food, and everywhere had a great atmosphere.
We somehow snuck through embarkation in about half an hour, got changed and found a spot on deck 15 for an unexpectedly sunny Southampton afternoon.
On Deck
Weirdly, for such a big ship, I think the pool deck is quite small and ...
This was our 4th NCL cruise and it was sadly our worst experience so far. It was so bad, that NCL went from being our go-to line to our backup plan going forward.
CONS:
1. Overpriced internet package of $600 bucks didn't even work most of the time. It was infuriating.
2. Food in the MDR was often too salty. Wasn't like this on other NCL lines. I'm willing to overlook this because NCL has ...
So, I said I would be back soon. After a week home for work. It was time to walk the gangway again on Voyager of the seas. This time by my partner in-crime. Mr Norwaylady.
He was super excited to finally walk the gangway again after 2.5 years and lots of cancelled cruises…. So his point of excitement and expectations was as mine last trip, it’s a CRUISE.
And the ports of call, area was not ...
My husband had always wanted to visit Iceland and we happen to find this cruise just 2 weeks before it sailed! The ship was only just over half full with passengers which made it more enjoyable since we didn't have to "fight" to get to the buffet, leaving the ship for excursions, and plenty of crew to help with any problems.
I do need to COMPLAIN that the internet was down for the last 3 ...
Two week cruise of Norway, with stop in Amsterdam in the middle. The ship felt new, and very clean. The staff was amazing, friendly, with many greeting you by name. The meals in the main dining room were delicious. Really enjoyed the multiple courses of small portions. The waiters in the main dining room quickly learn your names, and preferences. Specialty dining at Tamerin was fantastic. ...
I fully agree with previous comments made re this cruise apart from the comments re Pacific Rim Restaurant.
Overall the food was very good although there was a tendency in Compass Rose for the main course being served luke warm. The entainment in the theatre was not up to the standard expected but the duo singing in the Splendor Bar were very good The Cruise Director's contribution was ...
