better than expected

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Norwegian Star

Given the reviews here was expecting the worst, but overall it was actually quite ok. Given the amazing ports and more than reasonable price, I am pretty satisfied in the end. Itinerary: ReykjavĂk to Tromso via Svalbard. 3 days at sea which was a good break between all the excursions. 3 of the ports were tendered - but only the very first one was somewhat chaotic. The only issue was that they ...

Iceland cruise in August

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Viking Star

We had been on many Viking River cruises but never on a Viking ocean cruise. We were excited to see Iceland while experiencing a Viking ocean cruise for the first time. We found that the included excursions were very basic (e.g., walk around a small Iceland town of 700 people). The excursions that were not complimentary were very pricy, far exceeding what we experienced on Viking river cruises. ...

Pros: Booking in and boarding ship was very well organised, and we had no issues. Elegant ship in good repair with all of the facilities you would wish for. Excellent food at all levels and entertainment which caters for all. Cabin steward was attentive efficient and friendly. Public areas very clean and Queens Room especially very elegant and used a lot for dancing and concerts. Theater ...

About us: We are a married couple in our late 50's early 60's. We have experienced over 20+ ocean cruises, and this was our first post Covid. Our experiences have been with Princess, Celebrity, RCCL, NCL and Carnival. We travel for the destinations and the ease of which cruising allows. I will cover the pre cruise travel, ship, ports, excursions and food. Pre Cruise: We booked our own ...

Exploring the natural majesty of Norway

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Sky Princess

This was our first cruise on Princess, although we have cruised many times on NCL and RCCL. The itinerary and price is what attracted us to this particular cruise of the Norwegian fjords. Overall, we were not disappointed. We took care of our flights, hotel and transportation ourselves. We flew into LHR and took the excellent BlackBerry Car service (a private car with driver). We stayed at the ...

Fantastic crew and ports but a couple negatives as well

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Seven Seas Voyager

We mostly chose this cruise for the amazing itinerary. Iceland, Norway, Shetland Islands, Amsterdam and Bruges Belgium which did not disappoint. The crew was absolutely amazing, they just couldn’t do enough for us and we’re always asking if there was anything else we needed or wanted. Many knew our names a drink preferences by the third day. We were treated like royalty. Voyager is 23 years old ...

Ocean cruise for ppl who don't like ocean cruises

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Viking Jupiter

This was our third viking cruise, (the first two were euro rivers,) and second ocean cruise ever. I appreciate everything Viking does and tries to be. A quieter, more intimate experience with cultural enrichment and classical entertainment. The loud, roudy ocean liners with casinos, kiddos, and cigarette smoke are so not our scene. Viking ocean cruises are a better compromise for those who ...

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Island Princess

We haven’t cruised with Princess for the best part of 10 years, and never on the Island Princess. Shes a classic style cruise liner and on the larger size of what we have been used to recently. Embarking was quick and flawless at Southampton and we were in our cabin before 1pm. An inside cabin to the rear of deck B, not far from the rear lifts and stairs. The “stateroom” was a good size ...

Minus one star because: not enough Vikings!

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Zuiderdam

We had a great cabin - aft, veranda - that we loved. No diesel, smoke/ash and little noise from Lido above. Great views, tiny sitting area. We chose to take meclizine, starting the night before our cruise. This was the most sea we've seen on any cruise (still topped out at 2+ meters - 7-8 foot swells) and were both fine. I had anxiety but no actual motion sickness. There was an outbreak of ...

Iceland Intensive Cruise

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Azamara Pursuit

Just returning from Iceland intensive cruise and were very pleased with the trip. All of the Azamara ships are old but they are well maintained. I am sure if you looked for it you could spot areas which could be improved but we don’t approach a holiday in that way and didn’t see anything we were unhappy about. As appears in most reviews cabins are on the small side and so is the shower room. ...
