Done over 40 cruises over 5 cruise lines MSC up there with the best.
We had 4 days of bad weather over the 7 nights even that couldn’t dampen our enjoyment. You can’t do much about the weather cruising North Europe in the winter but we had a wonderful day in Brugge as well as Hamburg.
Tried to do Rouen from la Havre but got washed out on the way to the station.
Already done this port ...
This was our second Viking river cruise following up on the Grand European. The smaller Astrild was much more intimate than the normal long ship. There were 95 passengers on our cruise, and it was very easy to get to know folks. The crew was outstanding in all areas. Our room attendant kept our cabin spotless and our favorite waiters went above and beyond to please. The food was delicious and ...
It seems we were pretty lucky going across the Bay of Biscay - other ships on the same night had real problems. Perhaps our ‘luck’ was the result of the excellent stabilisers on Bollette.
There were a lot of lectures which would appeal to passengers selecting a Cruise round Roman Spain. It was also useful that you could watch them live or recorded in your cabin.
We stopped at some lovely ...
Occasions when all the Fred Olsen ships gather in one port are few and far between. We missed Bergen and Cadiz but were determined to do this one. Of course it was originally billed as 'Four Freds in Funchal' but the sale of Braemar has reduced the fleet to three. In fact the weather and various other unfortunate happenings meant that we on Bolette were the only ones who had a cruise that went to ...
The adventure began on 22nd October with a 3 hour queue to embark, then horrendous sleepless night on deck 14, the first night, with the trolleys from the buffet overhead, kept us awake.
Complained, and after some strong words from my wife, we were moved onto deck 12.
No complaints with this room as it was exactly as shown on the website.
Service at breakfast was abysmal, people would ...
This was our first cruise on one of the larger cruise ships and we were both a little apprehensive despite the fact that I had been on the ship lots of times as part of the Intercruises disability team. This did give me the advantage of knowing my way around and what the cabins were like etc. we both thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and have already booked to go back on IONA next ...
Several years I started a series of blogs relating our adventures[and misadventures] of cruising with someone who has walking difficulties ie my husband.
For anonymity I call him 6.
You may remember the 70s series about Steve Austin an astronaut who was severely injured and rebuilt with bionics to the tune of 6 million dollars.
Well as a result of Rheumatoid arthritis hitting him in his ...
We chose this cruise based on the ports visited. We have cruised many times before but this was our first NCL experience.
We opted for a suite within the Haven which was the best decision we made.
The suite was comfortable and spacious, our butler Bernie was always reachable but not in your face.
We enjoyed the perks such as being escorted on and off the ship, also priority seating and ...
Can't say enough good things about this cruise. It started with an easy embarkation. The lines moved swiftly through security. Dropped my bags off in my cabin and headed for lunch. The buffet was good overall. We did have a few occasions when finding a table was difficult. The food and service were very good. Selection was vast as always with a great omelet station. Food in the MDR was ...
We have now cruised on the MSC Virtuosa 6 times, 5 times in the Yacht Club and once in a Grand Suite.
Prior to sailing on MSC we were Cunard/Princess dedicated cruisers and we have reached their top loyalty levels.
But having experienced the luxurious VIP treatment in the MSC Yacht Club we find ourselves spoiled for choice, its just a pity their sailings from Southampton don't offer a ...
