I chose this cruise because I heard many great reviews about how polite the staff is, relaxing cruise (just what we needed), and it was at the exact time I was able to take a vacation. The first day I was so excited to get onto the boat and I was even more excited for my fiancé because it would be his first cruise. He decided to buy the wifi package for $200 since he needed it for business calls. After realizing it did not work for making call we went down to speak with the internet manager. The internet manage so this is fine and will refund the money but we would have to pay the minutes used. We said this is fine because we both thought he only used tops 5 minutes. The manager said he used 45 minutes worth and after telling him this is unfair because he never was able to even use his phone for calls he refused 20 minutes of use. I know $25 is not a major charge but is the principal fact of we are being charged for something we never used and did NOT work!! Day 1 left a sour taste in our mouth especially when the female bartender at O'Sheehans was very rude and provided poor service. Day 2 we woke up refreshed looking forward to the rest of the cruise. We went back to our room after having a nice dinner at the brazilian steakhouse and I needed to access the safe in the room. It contented to say error. We called and they sent someone who then had to send someone else who then had to send security to change the batteries. This did not work. So after about 2.5 hours which wasted the rest of our night of just sitting and waiting they said the carpenter has to come in the morning to drill the safe. The next morning we were instructed to wait in our room. We rushed breakfast and sat and waited all morning till finally the carpenter came- we needed our licenses that day because we were getting off in Florida that day so we had to wait. So one whole night and whole morning wasted of our vacation. NASA was a great experience but extremely rushed!!! they said you have 6 hours its more like a rushed 4 hours. They drop you off at Saturn V which was amazing!! but they say be back to the bus in 45 minutes to bring to the visitor center. we got back to the bus in time but more than half the bus was empty and we had to sit and wait 20 minutes- wasting our time again to go over to the visitor center when the bus was full. The next day is Great Stirrup Cay. We woke up excited to go to the beach. My fiancé went down to the gym and saw a line by the pool. He came back to the room and asked me what it was for and I told him I have no idea maybe something for excursions since I did not hear anything about meeting anywhere that morning. When they began to call people to take the boat to the island they called Ticket #1. We had no tickets and were confused. We went to guest services and they told us we and to go by the pool to get a ticket. We rushed there and got ticket #21 and has to wait 2 hours to get to the island. Many people did not know and even were getting ticket #29 while we were waiting the 2 hours! I went back down to guest services and asked them how we were supposed to know to get the ticket and they said it was in the daily paper they leave (I never read this and I am sure not everyone does) and they announced it yesterday at 6:00 pm (yesterday at 6pm most of the ship was in Florida and not onboard). He then told me that "all of these people knew about the tickets" pointing at the lobby of people waiting for their ticket to be called. Very rude. After waiting 2 hours we waited we had a blast at Great Stirrup Cay. It is a beautiful island. Just when things couldn't get worse that night my fiancé slipped on the deck in the dark since there were no signs and fractured his clavicle and separated his AC joint. The next day in Nassau was spent in the hospital and the rest of the cruise was spent meeting with security and having to wait in our room for them for them to not show up a few times because of other urgent matters. We had to follow up with medical on board which took away time of our last 2 days. So basically this whole cruise was filled with WASTED TIME! I paid money to have a good time not to deal with matters that could have been handled differently. Most of the staff was extremely rude except for the bartenders downstairs on the pool level and their was a waiter named Peter in the Magenta dining hall that provided more that amazing service. Otherwise a majority of the staff seemed like they did not want to be bothered and wanted to be left alone. I will NEVER recommend Norwegian to anyone ever!!! Read Less

Just sailed Jun 25 2016. Royal Caribbean got us to port late, left us stranded and multiple pleas from bus of passengers for assistance including one in wheel chair. This was shocking to be ignored. Customer service finally helped me although I did have trip insurance. Others waited 1-2 hours for help. I rejoined cruise not knowing of engine failure. Ship is run down. Rooms are rough stained with broken parts in bathroom. Engine failure so just puttered around the bahamas. Dining was hit or miss with some food seeming to be from previous meals even a day old! Chops restaurant poor. When returned food due to poor preparation, I was told that madame it was fine that it was that low lighting that I am wrong and the food is fine. Staff apathetic. They ran a movie and had a band playing at same time. They finally decided to turn off the movie. Recurring confusion and lack of leadership such as leaving ship told bring myself and bag to deck 6 to get on transport to airport then saying take yourself and bag to deck 5 to leave, but elevator jammed with departing passengers. I enjoyed my excursions and the room staff were good. Entertainment was okay to terrible. The comedians were okay, but mostly liked passenger banter. The final "show" was "vegas" Singing in front of a video of showgirls, really? I walked out. Small ship little to do, very limited food choices. I usually find cruising fun and restful, but constant blare of music even at breakfast. You won't have a high bar bill because wait staff and bartenders not interested. I tried to order a rum tonic with lime. Bartender shrugged his shoulders and said didn't know what that was and had no limes. I was enjoyed the company of the other passengers. Stop at Coco Cay was good. Do not take this cruise ship! Read Less

My niece chose this cruise for my sisters 60th B-da. We were very disappointed with the cabin size it was so small you could barely get dressed, the room was very hot with the a/c turned all the way up. The food was barely edible and at times there were no food station open. The videos that we looked at on you tube was nothing like the ship we were on. We will never cruise with Royal ever again, Me and my sister have been on many cruises with Carnival and Norwegian and they were both so much better than Royal. There were 2 lame show one was a juggler/comedian and the next night was a tribute to old-time r/b that lasted maybe 45 min. and it was very cheesy. Sevice was very poor and it took forever to get a drink. The staff were very nice but it was very difficult to understand them. This was not just my opinion but one of my whole family and there were 13 of us. Read Less

I have cruised with carnival cruises on a few occasions and have typically enjoyed myself due to them being early twenties friendly. Although I didn't select the Elation ship personally, I still expected a good time due to past experiences. Boy, was I wrong. The Elation's decor was sooo dated and rusted. The staff were constantly in your way moving or cleaning something and needed you to move. The shops have the same over priced junk that are on all cruises, but the staffs attitudes make the junk that much more ugly. The food is microwaved garbage. The rooms are rusty and small. The performers of the "broadway" shows cannot sing (although subjective) The Freeport and Nassau destinations were boring. The ship essentially drops you off and a depot and you have to pay PER PERSON for taxi rides to anywhere that isn't at the depot where the same t-shirts and straw hats are being sold. It would be nice to go somewhere that gives you the ability to either walk locally or be able to get your own transportation. Having to pay $14 for a round trip taxi ride per person in my group, plus money to get onto the beach than to pay for expensive "island" food once there is a headache. The staff of the Elation have the biggest language barrier. They speak english, but more so like they were given a crash course of very basic english. To have to explain something a thousand ways before your room steward or waiter no longer looks confused is a hassle. The only good thing about the Elation was the comedy shows. The next time that I decide to spend nearly a grand on a cruise vacation, I will definitly be headed to Royal Caribbean for sure, Read Less

When someone calls and uses the word “free” just hang up the phone! We received a “free” cruise for doing a phone interview. I knew that I would have to pay port fees but everything else was a lie! Lie after lie and fee after fee! We stayed at the Ramada for two nights as part of the package with three free meals. Again, there is that word “free.” The food was horrible and we had to pay a tax on top! We also had to pay a tax for the two-night stay. The morning of the cruise, we had to go to a “2-hour” tour about the time share. Ok, I have been to one these before and NEVER had so much trouble!! After MUCH complaining, we were able to get out of there with our cruise vouchers after 2hr and 45 min! Most people we talked to didn’t get out until 3-5 hours!!! I don’t know how that are allowed to treat people that way. The boarding of the ship began at 12pm. The port was an hour away, which we were never told and they were going to charge us $30 each to take their shuttle!! There was only one shuttle and it didn’t leave until 2:30pm! Had we waited for the shuttle, we would have missed half a day on the ship and lunch! We ended up riding with someone that had a car. Plus, some woman had the audacity to tell us that we wouldn’t be able to board anyway until at least 4pm because of the lines. We had our passports and didn’t have to wait more than about 30 minutes to board! Once on board, it was decent and the staff was very friendly. That was a breath of fresh air from how we were treated prior to boarding the cruise ship. My husband and I were getting away for a short trip for our 15-year anniversary. I was only able to finally relax once we finally got on board the ship. What a joke! By the time we paid all of the fees and travel costs, we probably paid full price for the 2-night cruise! Nothing “free” is worth it! Read Less

Port, We had perfect weather, not even a wave. However due to bad weather we did not get to stay in Half Moon Cay, which was the only reason I booked this cruise! Seriously right when they announced we were not staying it was hot sunny and beautiful. Food, I was eating my dinner, our waiter Wess took my scallops half gone without even asking if I was finished. Also they poured us a "Happy Honeymoon shot" and then later after we drank it charged us for it. This is my second Carnival cruise this year, and it is also my last with Carnival. our room steward was the only good thing about the cruise, Merta was fantastic, he never bothered us and everything was extremely clean, he was very sweet, and polite, I can't say enough great things about him. Most of the staff acted like we were bothering them, especially the dining room. Read Less

Having cruised with Princess and P&O it was planned to make our 25 Wedding Anniversary special by joining the Sophia Loren sophisticated styling of MSC Divina at Miami for what we thought was a 14 day cruise but to our dismay later it was described as a back to back 7 day cruise (first time cruisers be aware). This means that the cruise was two 7 day cruises. The itinerary was brilliant, apart from having to disembark and re-embark at Miami after the first seven days which was a nightmare and something to avoid as you have to join the same queues as those that are disembarking after the first seven days. Divina herself is beautiful and very sophisticated design, however when MSC offer FREE CHILDREN then the Sophia Loren image of the ship changes to a kids playground at school with parents that you probably wouldn't see on a full paid cruise allowing their children to run riot in every part of the ship from climbing over furniture, running around in the theatre, wrecking the quiet lounges, illegally in the casino, running around in the $60 dollar a night speciality restaurants, screaming down corridors at night, partying on balconies to avoid paying costs in the ship bars, Teenage children were even complaining that the disco at 3am was full of 3 to 5 year olds running around, all with MSC Cruise Officer approval who despite the anger of the cleaning staff turned a blind eye. Totally Horrendous. As a result we walked out of restaurants without paying half the way through, don't bother complaining to guest services just refuse to pay and don't authorise your card and more importantly NEVER pay ahead for any of the facilities. Divina is not fit for the Adult passenger, great for some families who have no morals whatsoever mainly American. Great too for those families that had well behaved children and didn't encourage the children to walk over highly polished furniture all night in sight of the young cleaning staff. There are three places where an adult can be free of this appalling behaviour and that is the Smoking Room (too bad if you don't smoke), the children’s club (as the club is empty as they are running riot through the ship with no activities for them), and one more special place that was for us the best place to be, off it ashore !! The only reason we didn't do any excursions was that we didn't want to follow the Buffet Diners (Nick named the Trough) ashore and spend time with more bad behaved kids. When we did complain about the 1500 children on board we were advised that the Yatch Club on the ship (members only) might be a solution, don't bother with that either as it is another way to sponge money out of you and the infestation of children are up there too!!! Best recommendation is to get off as soon as possible. We made a point of avoiding the buffet but on some days we missed the restaurant as they kept changing the open and close times and was forced to eat in the buffet, I walked through, sorry waded through, to see what was available and had to leave as the passengers were making me feel sick, the place was full over extremely overweight and loud americans plying on food on their trays, eating food as they walked around with their mouths open, the various serveries dragging their kids in ever direction. We love America, we love American people and we love holidaying there every year, however this cruise as made me realise that Americans in general are great people ON LAND, not in a confined space at sea for two weeks, sorry about that USA. The food in the restaurants is ok but don't just put up with cold food, see the waiter and keep sending it back, try moving to another table or dining room. The shows in the threate were if nothing else interesting, designed for the kids I accept but even then the Italians are good at one thing and its not food, its singing. Great entertainment but why they felt the need to include the American anthem on the Italian night was laughable and was the point to walk out to get to your next destination. We did dine with some lovely people though and made many friends and adopted "make the most of it" approach, but MSC have got this so wrong and according to staff they know it and are going into refit soon to put all the wrongs right. For me, not interested as the ONE thing worse that 1500 children holidaying with you and puts me off MSC cruises for life is that the Safety Drill was so disorganised and cahotic it raised a concern if anything like the Concordia happened again none of us would survive. MSC need to get serious about safety and get some training organisation applied, we decided that in the event of an emergency the last thing we would do is go to the Muster Station, get off yourself and ignore this bunch of pirates. There is much more to say here to support my case but I am fed up of typing, we read the cruise reviews before we went and noted a review entitled "Avoid this Ship", we wish we didn't ignore it now and so do many other passengers. Finally in relation to the Pirate Show, what the hell as the song "You Raise Me Up" got to do with Treasure Island! Read Less

Destination wedding! Beautiful day, horrible cruise. This line needs lots more training and working with SO many passengers... NOT a space in the pool... there were 4,300 people and children galore.. Food was mediocre.. Entertainment, was the quality of high school musicals... poorly themed.. Staff was ok, PORTER was great! Never go again, as there were way too many problems to be resolved. 3hours to dis-embark.. nightmare! Sadly this ship had a lot of unhappy cruisers. Buffet was ok, food was ok, pizza wins the prize for best on buffet.. Dinners, were at beat luke warm. options were not well designed. Couldn't get a drink at dinner till you were almost done with your dinner. Sadly, it wasn't what I had expected or paid for. There isn't a trash can on the ship. No hooks the the bathrooms for your purse, right outside the dinning room. However, Fabo the mater D was amazing. Very accommodating. We will not be coming back. Read Less

Let me start out by the few positives 1) excellent and attentive cabin steward, Rigoberto 2) excellent waitstaff: we had anytime dining and the waiters and waitstaff remembered all of our names even when they saw us out of context, even though they had taken care of us for one night. Impressive. These guys work hard with long periods away from home! Negatives MY concern is that these reflect a conscious decision from carnival leadership to trade quality food and entertainment for cheapened substitutes to maximize bottom line profits. Otherwise just poor leadership decisions 1) absolutely horrendous entree selections as well as lunch buffets. Captain's night had prime rib that tasted like it was out of microwave, texture was bizarre. Nothing gourmet. A total utter disappointment. Lots of fried unhealthy cheap food. Fried fried fried. Appetizers ok. Desserts ok Mongolian grill was very good fresh food. Omelet bar very good. Breakfast ok. 2) bad sewer smell wafting through the halls 3) main shows had excellent choreography, costuming( ( A plus) and production but had performers that couldn't sing. Painful to listen to as solos, ok as a group. 4) minimal number of interesting activities 5 comedy shows had little to no family friendly shows and "adult" comedy was crude but not funny. 6) terrible spa massage experience. Cruise was part of a holiday package we won (Ha Ha.... had to pay for) via Exploria Resorts. We were told 3 days and 2 night Bahama cruise with an outside cabin. We then had to pay $199 x 2 for port taxes for the cruise. When we finally got through the check in procedure 2 hours, and got into our room about 4.30, we found we had an inside cabin...NO Window, so we went back to the info desk and they said we had to go back off the ship to the check in area to arrange correct room. (Our paperwork clearly stated outside cabin) after waiting in line for another half hour, we were told that the computers were down, nothing could be done, but if we wanted to upgrade to a suite it would cost another $249. Ummm No. When we finally got back onto the ship the excursion booking desk was now closed from 5-7???? so we could not book anything for the time on the island. We went and had dinner and saw the show, which was very great. We went back to the booking desk and it had closed again. The ship cruises at night so you cannot see any scenery or islands, our room had no window so could not see anything when the ship docked in the morning. So our trip to the bahamas, consisted of not seeing anything at all but the dockland. Cruise was 2 nights and 1 day The best thing was the entertainment, the show was awesome, But you had to pay to see the comedian. We were also charged for graturities which I did not agree to or notified of ( i would have but that's not the point) it was just charged to our card. Very dissapointed as we came all the way from Australia to see nothing. Read Less
