We are avid Disney Cruisers but thought a 2-night cruise would be great for my husband and I; it was not! After stepping foot on the ship, we noticed right away the smell of old smoke from the Casino area. If that wasn't bad enough, the fragrance they tried to mask it with make us nauseous. Deck 5 where ALL the shops and bars are was so hard to walk around, in the jewelry store, the associate followed us around like they do in furniture stores! We found that most of the crew members were not friendly or helpful. The waitstaff at the main dining room got upset that we didn't take their suggested choices at dinner time. Every where we went the first day, people were all trying to sell us something, drink package, internet package, specialty dining, etc. Our room was on Deck 9 and when we would turn to walk to our room all we could smell was sewage coming from the rooms. Our room had a musty smell to it as well. On Saturday night, we had to make a run back to Miami for a sick passenger to get off and all my husband and I wanted to do was get off with them! We will never again sail another cruise line but Disney. Read Less

Would never recommend to anyone to take this cruise. The ship is clean, but worn. The rooms are fine for a quick three day cruise. The staff was friendly and kept things cleaned and replenished. They only do room service once a day, but for a short trip that was ok. We opted for mornings. The food was mediocre. They didn’t change the buffet offerings. They did have a Mandorin, pizza, bbq and burger station, but with the exception of the pizza station (another story), they closed at 5-6pm for the evening. Then your only food option was the buffet or dining hall. All day you could get pizza, however it was small 10” personal pizzas made in small quantities, and cut in half. Kind of made to order, but really slow, and had long lines. Their drinks are expensive, and they add a gratuity to each drink. Depending on your drinking habits the package CHEERS, maybe a better deal. We didn’t purchase but we’re way under had we purchased. They make both people in a room buy it, and if one doesn’t drink, you’re screwed. Embarking went well, and organized, however disembarking has a lot of room for improvement. They made provisions for wheeled chair people, but people with canes were pretty much on their own. We finally asked because two members of our party couldn’t walk the distance and a staff person cut us in line. There were lots of groups, wedding parties, bachelor groups, and mostly was an under 40 crowd. They do have an adult only area which we discovered on the day of the Bahamas, so we stayed on ship and enjoyed the area. They have a huge bottled water in your room and charge $3:95 to use it. That’s pathetic. Bottled water is so cheap, they should be giving them to each room. The band Blue Wave was very good. They are almost too talented for this ship, they were very entertaining. The first day out to sea they had dancing on the pool deck, they shot off streamers which went up and into the ocean. I was pretty appalled by that. That is an unnecessary activity. Personally this is one of the worst cruises I’ve ever been on. It was just a three day get away, but next time I will go on another line. Read Less

Restaurants: Food was horrible. The Buffet(s) was closed almost every time I went to it (5:15pm, 7:15am, 6pm, normal times) The Guy's burgers were good but the rest sucked. I ate soft ice cream with a fork, got served a warm coke with 4 ice cubes, I had a flat iron steak that was as tough and tasted like a boot sole, the service was atrocious and I waited well over an hour in the dinning room for pasta which tasted like it was prepared 2 weeks earlier from a can. Bars: they close early so there's no way to get 15 drinks from you Cheers Package, there's not enough time in the day. You have an 18% gratuity included but if you don't tip, they aren't coming back. The Casino Bar stays open late but it's tiny and the only bar open so it takes even longer to get a drink. Shows: I'm not big on shows but most people we talked to liked them generally. Princess Cays, Nice, beautiful, same crew as the ship so service was bad and we had to pay for all drinks and tips and the lunch was long line and dry hamburger (1). Ship: Nice weather and smooth till we headed home and with a 60 mph wind we go tossed around. Boarding and Debarkation was fairly easy. I will never, ever, never set foot on the Carnival Ecstasy again, Read Less

Well me and my honey was so excited about going on anthem of the sea so they told us we where get a good deal and we booked balcony view to Nassau and coco cay and Orlando so it start like this we got on the boat and they rushed everyone into the 1 buffet and people where standing up to eat and after that we start cruising and we end up staying in Orlando Florida for 2 days when it only suppose to be one day and we end up still get charger for a port we didnt go to and after we got settle our room didnt have no soap and when it was time to take a shower the shower water smell like sewer water and we report the promblem and then they place some pillow case on our bed with dry up mucus on the pillow case so horrible I.had to call for 3 more pillow case when they only sent 2 and then we pay for the Atlantis not knowing that the water was ice cold because the heater were out and the beach was clothes and a couple of water parks and after we found out all this they still would refund us our money for a park that we couldn't even use and the works eve said that they wouldn't be in that water only if they have to lean it and that's when they but on the warmer cleaning gear to wash the pool and even when they got out they where all shaking because it was super cold so after all that the cruise people kept telling me to just call coustomer service and that's what I did and now I'm waiting to hear back from them because this was the worse cruise ever and to set it off the shows where cancel most of the time so the boat was just like being home without a TV. Please watch how you spend your money because this was not a good cruise and everybody I talk to on the ship was super mad about everything. Sorry so sloppy in a rush. Read Less

Bottom line up front: This ship is falling apart at the seams, everything stinks (staterooms, bathrooms, common areas, decks and interior spaces). Everything is designed to frustrate you to the point of spending more in convenience upgrades. The food is marginal (hit and miss), entertainment was pathetically bad. Pier check-in at Baltimore was bizarre; like it was the first time a cruise ship had ever docked to pickup passengers(!?). Staff were confused, lines were created and collapsed at random, people were visibly upset throughout the process. Unbelievable waste of money. Upselling everything, everywhere, all the time. Bait and switch tactics; everything is made to be inconvenient to pressure you into spending more money (don’t like the crappy food, pay for better; don’t like the lack of seating in the buffet, pay for better; don’t like having to go to the 9th deck for crappy ice-cream, here’s Ben & Jerrys in the best location for $3 a scoop!) Room service costs extra for hot breakfast but not continental. Understand what I am saying, they would bring you a cold breakfast for free but charge a $8.95 ‘delivery fee’ for your similarly free hot breakfast. Ship is designed to be inconvenient and pressure more sales. It’s like living in a 3D infomercial. The only way to get from one end of the ship to the other was either through the topside deck (with the smokers; more on that later), through the shops/photo sellers or through the casino. We found ourselves holding our breath and making the run across the cold and wet deck to get from the buffet to the auditorium. There are only 40 interior padded lounge chairs in the adults only section of the deck (for the 1850 passengers!), so you can forget lounging or lying down anywhere outside of your room. The outside pool was only open for 3 days of our 9 day cruise, so the 18+ ‘quiet’ rooms was opened up for kids as well. There are 6 hot tubs (4 outside in the cold/rain); so you can hold about 36 people at a time total (again, for the 1850 passengers!) So you can forget about that as well. The ship is falling apart everywhere. They had to continuously reschedule the shows due to mechanical issues with the stage / rigging / electronics. One night they gave up and just have the house band play some terrible jazz for 40 minutes. The comics were terrible and the two ‘shows’ were sub-high school drama class level. The whole ship stinks badly; the main areas, the bathrooms and the staterooms. Everywhere the ship was falling apart. The interior of the central areas were covered in leaks when it rained. Cigarette and Cigar smoke is everywhere. You smell it as soon as you enter the ship and it wafts throughout the halls and main spaces of the ship. They allow smoking in the casino (which is of course located in the most central and open part of the ship. All outside areas are also smoking areas (although it seemed like people would smoke everywhere). The stink is in the carpet and the furniture. Ports of call were OK, but transportation to and from the port was too expensive and difficult. In Charleston there was a simple bus but $20 per person for a shuttle from the pier to Ron Jons is entirely too expensive. I’m sure the Ron Jon’s kickbacks pay for the bus; this was just petty. The pier in Freeport is in an industrial wasteland with oil refinery sink and black smog. Freeport bus tour included stops at a free nature reserve and tourist trap where they make the junk they are selling. This should have cost half of what it did ($59 each) and been a whole day tour with a much longer stay at the beach. They first shuttle from the beach left 15 mins after we arrived. In Nassau, Pearl Island was beautiful for the 3 hours we were there. They didn’t have a full day option and the cost too much for what it was (chicken and rice buffet and a boat ride for $109 each; $4 for a bottle of water or a can of coke). The food was really hit and miss. The main dining hall was virtually empty for the 8pm dining experience; do you know why… because most people don’t eat supper at 8pm (which is really 8:45 before your main course arrives). Also, you will miss half of the evening activities because it will take them about 90 mins to feed you. Most will just opt for the buffet. Good luck getting a seat at the buffet; they seat about 200 and there are 1850 passengers. If you don’t lineup of arrive within the first 10 minutes you will be standing to eat or eating outside with the smokers. Also, the show times were at 7pm and 9pm with the earlier show designated for the later dining crowd. This was not enforced in any way so the early shows where standing room only with the late diners not being able to catch the second show. They would doo just about anything to ensure that you didn't;’t actually get any of the service or food that you paid for. I was extremely disappointed in this trip and I would not recommend it to anyone. Read Less

This was a surprise trip for my husband and was a Christmas Gift. Our 15th wedding anniversary trip and VERY first cruise and trip without our child. Was supposed to be a romantic / rekindling vacation. Turned out to be a complete nightmare and worst trip we have ever been on. Really really long story short, our flight ended up getting canceled and neither parties were able to rebook us a flight to get to Miami before ship left. Flight got cancelled at 5am but still no one could accommodate us in time to get to Miami. Ridiculous! I called NCL 3 different times to ask what our options were. Option 1, cancel the cruise and only get back port fees and taxes, or option 2, which was pick up ship in Key West. Was told this by 3 different NCL employees. Fine. Spent 2 hours getting flights to Key West, $755 one way from Chicago. Fine. Called NCL back to let them know we'd be getting on the ship in Key West. Employee stated we couldn't get on in Key West. I lost my mind after I just got told by 3 NCL people that we could. She puts me on hold and comes back to say that we can get on in Key West. OK Fine. My husband and I were at the airport about 8 hours before we actually left. About 40 minutes AFTER I booked flights to Key West, the last NCL employee called me back with a manager to NOW tell me that I will incure port fines in Key West for $762pp per the JONES ACT!!!! Why was i never informed this EVER?! And the NCL employees should have ABSOLUTELY said something BEFORE I booked the flight to Key West. I felt totally deceived and taken advantage of. If I would have know that this trip was going to cost me more than double of what I originally paid, I would have just cancelled the cruise before I left Chicago and called it a day. After this, it wasn't it. After hotel costs, ubers, etc. We finally get on ship the following day to be treated like complete crap by the staff because we were now DOWNLINERS! I understand it wasn't the cruise lines fault our flight got cancelled but their customer service was absolutely poor and rude. We have family that take cruise all the time and they have never heard of the Jones Act. Why is this not explained better when you book a cruise, especially when you book directly through the cruise line with their so called "experience agents". Not only this but we were supposed to stop in Great Stirrup Cay but could not, due to high waves. Oh great. Now you have 3000 people stuck on a ship. Everyone was trying to be by the pool area but it was so crowed. They had an entire top deck closed off where no one could sit, 2 hot tubs not working, and people laying on over the deck floors on their towels and we were having to step around. Absolutely terrible! There were lots of other details that were not good either but this review would be 10x as long. Then on the last day, because we were downliners, we had to meet the staff at 6am to be personally escorted off of the ship to customs. And once again, treated like garbage. I've tried to contact NCL several times. Sent a few emails and actually sent a letter to corporate. Glad to know that none of their staff cares about anything. Worst vacation ever, and for sure, no more cruises. Read Less

My wife and I love to cruise, so when we saw this one included all beverages we decided to sail Norwegian this time. I had read a lot of reviews and noted a lot of them mentioned the odor of sewage on the ship. We still decided to go and thought maybe it was a fluke. We get to the port to board and the employee checking us in was absolutely MISERABLE! She barely made eye contact with either of us and didn't offer us a map of the ship, luckily we found one on our own. When it was our turn to board, we followed all the other passengers who has boarded ahead of us (we were group 2). We were greeted with more unpleasant staff who would not let us proceed forward to board because we went thr wrong way. Instead of explaining where to go the just told us the entry was directly beside us. Once on the ship my wife and I immediately noticed the foul odor of sewage. This odor remained the entire cruise. Inside the Dazzels club where the art auction was held the room smelled terribly, like smelly feet. The alcohol was free, however the beer tasted awful! Like it was skunked. The mixed frozen drinks had hardly any alcohol in them and getting a pleasant bartender was impossible. Thank God we found Petar he was wonderful! Our first day at Key West, we booked a boat tour, it got cancelled due to lack of interest. We weren't even given a chance to schedule an alternate shore excursion. The food was also awful at the buffets. Same exact menu everyday. The food at Le Bistro, Crossroads Cafe, and The Palace was very good! The room was good and the bed was comfortable. However, the TV was hazy and basically 2 channels you could watch. Read Less

This cruise was absolutely terrible, this was me and my husbands first cruise experience the cruise ship is so unorganized. The cruise never told us anything about downloading an app that tells you the time of everything and also did not supply us with Times of dinner, breakfast, or lunch. The last day of the cruise we got a bill with everything we had purchased they ran my card for the drink packages the first day ,and still wanted to me to pay for it. They told us that it would just come out of my bank account. They didn’t not inform us the that it would just be coming out of my bank account when we purchased it . There was no warning about how in Nassau the Atlantis location you had to purchase 5 different passes just to go through the building. You aren’t allowed I’m the swim in the pools or go on the beaches without buying a pass in the Nassau Atlantis location. The bands on the ship where terrible as well. Read Less

I could not believe how much the cruise industry has cut back. No entertainment during day at sea. No games, No line dancing. Absolutely nothing. We walked the ship all day. IT WAS BORING! I have cruised since the 90's. The food was skimpy, and cold. 1 tsp of potatoes and A broccoli sprout. Desert was terrible. Not even cooked. They served fried chicken. I wonder if it was the pigeons from Port Canaveral. Did not taste like chicken. The Pizza was on such a thin crust with some cheese and a few drops of sauce. I actually asked them if my cardiologist called them before I arrived. I could not believe that that the staff did not go out of their way to help us. The floors were dirty. There was a dead beatle on the floor during the whole trip. Then we booked para sailing before we went on cruise with Carnival. When we arrived, the ropes were frayed. They had 1 rope holding up the parasail. I did not feel safe, so i did not do it. I paid $100. When we returned to the ship. I went down to the desk for excursions and informed the manager about my concerns. Apparently, they do not check to see if the excursions are safe. I was told by Michael, the manager, that he would contact me before we left the ship. I NEVER HEARD FROM HIM. Do yourselves a favor. Fly to a hotel, plan your own sightseeing tours. CRUISES ARE NOT WORTH THE MONEY ANYMORE! You get on the ship, and you are hostage until you get back. Our cruise director's name is NO NO. I guess that says it all Read Less

We cannot tell you how excited we were to leave on 1/6/19. We were eloping, taking our first cruise, and my soon-to-be husband was leaving the country for the first time. His name is Brandon. That'll be in important here in a second. We get ready on the morning of the 9th for our wedding and go to the library to have our ceremony. The officiant is reading a manual on how to perform weddings when we arrive. That's a little odd but whatever, we get it. Wanna stay sharp. The ceremony begins. The officiant seems nervous but heck, so are we! He talks about marriage for a minute and then launches into the canned vows... my fiance and I have brought our personalized vows with us written on cards. We both stumble through the generic ones thinking ... maybe ours will go after that? What is happening? Then the officiant calls my fiance JUSTIN and we both look at each other. Something is very wrong. He then has us bow our heads and starts a prayer. Neither my husband or I have any problem bowing our heads for a prayer at other ceremonies. We however never approved a prayer for our own wedding day and certainly wouldn't have approved THIS ONE. Is it too much to ask to just be given what you paid for on your wedding day? Before we left for the cruise, the wedding planner and I had a very clear email thread where the details for the ceremony were mapped out. They weren't anything special but they were what we wanted; we were an easy couple! At no point did anyone even ask us about a prayer. I was even sent a script for the generic wedding that I edited minimally and sent back - at their request. Why did I go through any of that if they weren't going to use any of it?! Later, when we were back in our room and had recited our ACTUAL vows sitting beside one another on the bed, my husband said that during the middle of the ceremony, once he could tell there had been a mix up, he wanted to just interrupt and say "can we just do the pictures so we can go?" I completely understood what he meant. It felt like a bad dream. So we get home, and I send a colorful email to the carnival wedding team ON THE SAME THREAD where all of our instructions for the wedding were approved in clear detail, and let them know that something went very wrong. They offer me a couple hundred dollar refund for the officiant's service, which was clearly botched. Yeah, our ceremony was something out of a bad romantic comedy, but i'll just take a couple hundred bucks instead of a full refund for our wedding. Sure. So, they tell me a resolution team will contact me within 7 business days. I wait. Those business days come and go. No one has contacted me. It's been weeks. I reply on the active thread demanding they at least give ME the email address of this illusive department that was supposed to contact me. Crickets. This is a nightmare. I have yet to hear anything back. So, in tears today, I filed my first ever better business bureau complaint against Carnival. If you had told us. before our wedding, that we'd be sitting on some BBB website, filing a claim against the company that would perform our wedding, I would have laughed. I'm the type of person who would rather keep something I don't like than deal with the hassle of getting a refund. So, I do not recommend carnival cruise line for anything purely based on their indifference to handling what is a truly sad situation for my husband and myself. But also because the food was completely underwhelming, the bed in our ultra fancy suite [literally the nicest room we could purchase] was two twin beds pushed together where they slide apart if anyone tries to lay remotely close to the center - just what we were hoping for on our honeymoon, because there was cigarette smoke wafting into different non-smoking and unavoidable areas of the ship at all times, and because the entire trip felt like a weird upsell designed to get us to spend more money. One positive: the staff that maintained our rooms was SUPER kind and personable and did an amazing job Read Less
