My cruise from charleston begin when we were told the ship had a medical emergency and it would be late getting into charleston. our boarding time was 7 pm. the ship was to leave at 10pm. we arrived at the port around 5pm. had to wait over an hour to park. we parked in the handicap parking. we waited about 2 hours for a shuttle bus which never came. we walked 30 minutes to another area stopped in the handicap area for another shuttle bus. there was an ederly man lying ob the ground he had been waiting since 1pm for the shuttle and could no longer stand. We started complaining to the baggage handlers. someone finally got the man a chair. it was not their job but when they saw the man on the ground they had to help. people were walking some carrying their suitcases. we waited about 2 hours then the shuttle buses started running. there were so many people that had been there since 1 pm fights started while everyone tried to get on the buses. We got on a bus that had to wait over two hours to get to the terminal. there wer3 still so many people ahead of us by the time we got into the terminal they were no longer taking boarding pictures. We never saw the camera man. we were among the last to board. we wasn't allowed to go to our rooms. We went to the 3rd deck made to go outside for the explanation they do to tell you about the life jackets etc. Yes while out there some fainted-- fell out all i know is they called for the medical staff when they got there someone was giving the person mouth to mouth pumping on his ches,t. Entertainment was terrible/ dinnertime was equally as bad. I will never travel on carnival again/ the vendors were scarce. Usually buy chains aboard /hardly any jewelry store no clothing stores/no store for what nots that you buy. goodbye carnival you jus soured on my stomach. by the way i hated the casinos no good machines. the only good thing about the cruise were the workers especially our room steward Read Less

The ship was very pretty and embarkation was smooth and efficient. However, none of the drink stations were working and the kids had to either go to the one bar that was open or to the buffet to get drinks. We found one bar open with 2 bartenders and then only one for the unending line of people. This was only a 4 day 3 night cruise and the 2 stops we were scheduled to make, we couldn't due to high winds. The ship had no contingency plan. They did add to the children's activities when it was determined we would be at sea instead of in port. Since this was the first cruise for the children we had made plans on both islands that we did not get to do. We did end up going to Freeport instead. The staff on the cruise was of zero help to find anything fun to do with the kids at Freeport. However, the people on the island were so friendly and more helpful than anyone on the ship. They helped us to find someone who provided parasailing which was one of the plans the kids were looking so forward to and made our day. I have never been on a cruise like this before and will never cruise with this line again. Read Less

We have been loyal Celebrity cruises for 25 years, yet were disappointed last year while on a 22 day b2b so we decided to try this short cruise to see if things had improved. Embarkation was well organized and we were onboard in less that 15 minutes. Our room attendant was excellent. The restaurant staff in Blu was was very good, but they were overwhelmed because they were short staffed. After ordering, it would take 30 minutes to receive the first course and another 30-45 minutes for the entree. Salads were excellent, but the entrees ranged from poor to inedible mainly because the quality of the meats was so bad. There was an overwhelming sewage odor in our cabin and hallways that could not be covered up. Unfortunately, because of the food and the odor, this is our last Celebrity cruise. While we appreciate the great dividend our RCL stock pays, we would rather see the dining experience returned to its previous level. Read Less

Guest services did not care about anyone no matter what your status is pinnacle, diamond, royal family, did not make a difference. Don't think about calling room service for food you if they answer the phone you can expect at least a 2 hour wait. For the money I would not travel again on this ship.Friend of ours who who on the ship with a party of 8 reserved specialty restaurants for 3 nights and when they got to the restaurant they had to break them into groups of 2 and 4. Shows were great if you can get a seat. We reserved shows and times with our travel agent and when we got on the ship and asked for tickets they said there is NO reserved seating for any show. Every show has many people standing in the back. We have been on many cruises and never had such a poor experience. Read Less

I do not usually post reviews because they are only a snap shop of an individuals experience however, given that every passenger I spoke to on this cruise was of the same opinion, i am sure many reviews are coming. From the moment we arrived at the port, being a diamond plus member, we were promised expedited boarding. What a joke. no one knew or cared what promises were made. Everyone was cattle called into the same long lines with understaffed check in agent trying to hear passengers over a loud marching band in the terminal with loud drums which made it impossible to speak or hear. After that 2 hour debacle it was on to the ship where guest services could not answer even the most basic questions. Reservations that were made days prior to sailing were either missing or incomplete. Crew members were rude and unhelpful. Now to the restaurants. The first night was ok. We ate at the steakhouse chops whihc was good with decent service. It was all downhill after that. Breakfast the next day at the buffet was a joke. Every table full and dozens of people walking around with food on plates and no where to sit. After 20 minutes I finally found that there was an omelette place on a deck above that also served breakfast. I waited 10 minutes until a worker finally came behind the counter and asked for our order. We said and I flagged down a waiter to get a soda since we had all bought the drink packages. The waiter said the machine was broken and he would have to walk too far to get a soda. So I was so aggravated I left. Dinner that night was even worse. Went to there serenity restaurant which had 5 tables seated an 20 tables open inside and 20 open outside which were not being used. Hostess told us we would have to wait at least 20 minutes even though there were many tables open. We waited and ordered skirt steak. What was served was not skirt steak but was a low quality London broil which I wouldn't feed to my dog. We didn't even attempt to eat it because it looked so bad. Again we were so aggravated we didn't eat. We decided to skip breakfast the next day to avoid the windjammer buffet experience and go to Johnny Rockets for Lunch. We arrived at 11:15 and sat outside waiting for lunch to start at 11:30. There were no servers and only 1 manager walking around as people started to arrive. The place quickly filled up and by noon there was no one to take an order. When I flagged down the manager he said his crew was not there yet. (I guess they got stuck in traffic). Finally 1 server arrived for the entire outside which by that point was about 60 customers. Needless to say we finally received food at 1pm. 90 minutes!!. We though if we paid for the restaurants we would at least get some service. It didn't matter, paid or not nobody cared. We decided for dinner just to get some chips, quesadillas and guacamole which we were told that the Mexican place Sabor on the boardwalk was known for. NO guacamole sorry. To top off the experience on the ship there were about 100 people in the lounge that were told would be able to watch the dolphin game. Well another game was put on and everyone proceeded to guest services angry because the same people had told all of us not to worry, it would be shown. Now they say they cant show it so many of us had to disembark at port and go to Atlantis to watch the game. When I returned I found out that they figured out halfway into the game that they could show it. I could write another 500 words about more bad experiences but I will skip to the "expedited disembarkation" which they recomended we take our luggage to get off the ship at 7am. Only 2 customs agents were processing thousands of people even though we were the first couple hundred people to get off the ship it took over an hour. As a result of this I will never cruise on a Royal Carribean cruise ship again. The problems were so widespread and pervasive and no one was willing to address them as we complained to whomever we could find. We were told the executives families were on the ship and most were unavailable. By the looks of the satisfaction level they will be the only people on future sailings. Speaking to another table at Johnny Rockets that were first time cruisers, they said they were told how wonderful cruising was and after this experience they will never cruise again. I tried to convince them that it is not usually like this. Most officers and executives care about the passenger experience. Just not on this ship. Maybe they were right. Even though I have been on dozens of great cruises, after all of the aggravation from this trip, it will be a long time before I pick up a cruise brochure,. Read Less

The staff does the best possible service they can, but they are short on staff. The friendliness of the staff was superb, but a person can only do as much as they are able. The RCI corporate has set the ship up for failure by making huge advertising claims, without the staff to provide these things. The rock wall was barely opened, the kids area was only open for limited hours, the dining staff had more than they could handle. Everyone on the boat worked as hard as they humanly were able. It almost made it unenjoyable to be surrounded by people who were hustling so hard. The staff all wanted to take the extra time and care to say hello and interact with my children, but they all were constrained on time and being called to other duties. I would like to say that I spoke to Michael, who stated that he is the highest level supervisor in the call center. I couldn't have been more disappointed in the customer service provided. I will never sail Royal Caribbean again, and I will do my best to dissuade anyone I talk to from choosing RCI as well. There is NO NURSERY, and no in room babysitting. So plan to chase toddlers around the ship without anything to do, unless you want to take them to swim around the upper pool with lots of half naked people, drunk, and screaming profanities. This was my husbands and mine first cruise and first vacation alone together after 12 years. The cruise ship smelled horrible like sewage .The food was absolutely horrible. We pretty much lived off of scrambled eggs and ice cream for 5 days. At the formal dining night the table next to us sent their food back. Meanwhile my husband had received his food which he had sent back and I was still waiting on my tea. We ended up getting up and leaving without me eating and him getting another option. The shows were good and we enjoyed them. My husband was denied a drink during one of the shows. We had just said down and someone came over and he asked and they just walked away. We had the Cheers card where our drinks were free but on numerous occasions we never received a drink brought back to us. Our steward was great and always took care of us. On the day we went to Half Moon Cay and they had a bar b que we went and got our food and it was cold. Every morning on the buffet there was baked beans. These beans were dried out under the heat lamp and looked to be the same beans every day that no one touched. Baked beans at breakfast was a new one on me. When we went to disembarkation we were stuck in the stairwell and couldn't get off. At the bottom a Carnival Worker yelled out "if everyone would have read their instructions then it wouldn't be this hard. We can't do out jobs if you don't do yours". He was very rude. We did not do any excursions due to this being our first vacation and cruise and just wanting to relax. We will definitely do our research on the boat next time. We are unsure if we will cruise Carnival again. We would not recommend The Sensation as a boat to go on. Horrible Horrible experience and this is my second review. I have tried to make an official complaint to Carnival and I have yet to figure out how to do so. Read Less

My wife and I have been cruising for over thirty years, with the last few years almost exclusively with Royal Caribbean. Embarkation process went well at Port Canaveral, though with the new terminal, we got on at Terminal 1 and disembarked at Terminal 4. The Majesty of the Seas was the worst. Though the staff was friendly, they could not make up for the bad food (i.e. tasteless and tough), disorganized activities, poor entertainment (i.e. headliners were both comedy and had people leaving the show lounge early) and bad maintenance (i.e. water coming up the shower drain - TWICE) made for a memorable bad cruise. The Production Shows were good, as was the band. Activities Staff did the best, but were limited by poor equipment. The library for all practical purposes did not exist with only a few books. The Majesty of the Seas is an old ship that needs some Tender Loving Care. Needless to say, we will not go on the Majesty of the Seas again. Read Less

We chose Carnival for a short cruise for a mother and daughter. She purchased it online, but did not receive any special deals. We had no air in our balcony suite. It took 3 calls and 45 minutes to go down to guest services each time to see what could be done. The technician finally came in and said it was 71 degrees and that is acceptable for them, but my daughter was sweating all night. Their only solution was to bring a 20 x 20 inch fan in, so we had to walk around it the rest of the cruise. We should have asked to be moved, but we had unpacked all our belongings. They did not notify us until Thursday night before the Sunday cruise that they were not going to Freeport. My daughter called them, but it was too late to change all of our flights. I heard from 4 people in 2 airports that they never go to Freeport because the ship is too big.I called the Freeport tourism after coming home, and they said everything was fine and visitors were there. Carnival personnel were blaming it on Hurricane Matthew. The elevators did not work most of the time, and guests had to climb the stairs. That could be a fire or medical hazard. We will never try Carnival again Read Less

Halloween cruise with lots of scary problems. Embark first horror...disembark bigger mess. In between 5 days with deaths, rape, poor correspondence between crew, one mistake after another. Food questionable in main dining and buffet ...but great burgers and David's restaurant definitely worth the $35.00 charge. Thanks Mr. Maitre'd. Room service super and on time with so so food. Carnival needs to make serious changes in the way airport and walk on/off passengers are transferred to and from ship. Disorganized confusion ...totally unacceptable way to start or end a cruise. Cigarette smell overpowers the whole ship; the daily info sheet scarce with no daily specific info; Internet horrible and HUB app not helpful; tiny tv pretty skimpy and ship info like weather or menu not there. And don't charge me $16. to print out Delta boarding pass. I paid double...for me and the person not in my room and not eating your poor food. Carnival spends entirely Too much money on many sell sell sell color paper sheets. You can pay your people more and save us from being hounded for paying gratuities to cover YOUR employee's salaries. We throw them away ..hope you get them from trash basket and use them again! I traveled with myself and 20 other people. For starters we booked all at the same time and our rooms were all on opposite ends of the ship. It was my mother's birthday and for most part no one besides myself and one of my sisters had ever cruised before. First of all the amenities that signed up for and were promised were not given ie. (onboard credit, unlimited internet and unlimited drink package). Out of all the cabins in our group mine was the smallest, it literally made me claustrophobic (and to think we paid $2500 per cabin and had 5 cabins.) The toilet didn't flush on three out of the 7 days we were aboard. In my mom's room the tub was clogged, they didn't get their drink package until day 2, they didn't even get their wifi until day 4 and never got their onboard credits. In another cabin the sheets were not changed for the 1st 2 days and you could clearly see food stains they didn't receive their onboard credits, the bartenders were rude to them and guest assistance refused to refund $378 in gratuity fees. On my mom's birthday we had dinner at the Manhattan Room and she ordered steak and there was hair in it and I ordered roasted chicken and when I cut into it it was raw. Blood was actually coming from it. Every meal that we ate was cold except for in Shanghai Noodle House. I paid for the unlimited beverage package and was told that i couldn't get a soda all i could get was alcoholic beverages. My 17 year old daughter went to the bar at midnight to get a shirley temple and the bartender named Rose told her she should come back tomorrow and get a shirley temple but she should get a cup a milk and go to bed. We were suppose to go to Orlando Beaches Port Canaveral, Great Stirrup Cay Bahamas and Nassau Bahamas but only stopped in Florida and Nassau. We ended up in Nassau for 2 days and spent more time on the boat than off. All excursions were cancelled for Port Canaveral and there was no explanation for why we stop at Great Stirrup Cay Bahamas. The Guest Assistance workers were very rude and when they were not rude they didnt understand us or we didnt understand them Read Less

BAD AND GOOD SO READ ALL Booked a window handicapped cabin. My Mother is 94 and cant stand. i Have cancer and no feeling on right side of body so room was a necessity. We booked directly through cruise line which gave us "Groupon" price when informed what it was, which is 1/2 the ships. Don't pay more than "Groupon" price. It's always on there. We unpacked and repacked 3 times because we had NO AIR CONDITIONING THE ENTIRE TRIP. Went to guest services at least 6 times. Each room they showed us same problem. No a/c. Finally supervisor shows up. fellow with Russian accent. Was nice the first day. After second day was nasty and told me the problem was The old lady I was travelling with" Nice huh? Workman above rooms pounding all day long on ceiling. Guess rather than take out of service for a day and lose some money decide to let sail anyway. MANAGER WINDS UP GIVING US A SMALL FAN FOR THE ROOM ! FOR THE ENTIRE TRIP. Refused to give us compensation/refund. Wanted to move us again to another cabin. Inside, no window, not handicapped equipped. Said "They had A/C/ problems the last 2 voyages before this in different parts of the ship. But in ALL the handicapped rooms" which are located very end Aft. 90 degree Florida heat in a stuffy room with a fan and 2 people who cant even walk to go somewhere to escape the heat. There are no outside walk ways at all. You want air. Have to go to pool area which is surrounded by walls and filthy Plexiglas. Cant even see the ocean. Can be a very long walk too. Big ship. The crew and the food were very good. Dull at night. 7 bars/discos but no one in them. Things placed on calendar to do but when you arrived -no personnel there-no event. Vegas show. was short. Had an emcee who is about as funny as a rubber crutch. You spend 40 minutes listening to him asking people where their from. Casino is tiny. maybe 40 slots. 1 crap table, Roulette etc. Had to be tendered to go to Bimini. Nothing there but tiny beach and 2 stores. BE PREPARED you pay for EVERYTHING. + 18% added on. MANDATORY PREPAID TIPPING. $24.00 day. Cant tip on your own. So no incentive for good service. MANDATORY $18.00 day parking. Better ask before you do something or will wind up on bill. Finally after threatening to sue them for my mothers condition after 3 days they gave me a numbe rto call for customer service. Will call now and update. Couldnt wait to post so no one else falls into same trap. Read Less

My wife's family wanted to have a weekend together to celebrate 2 birthdays. There were 19 of us total. We had sailed on 8 prior Carnival cruises, 2 Royal Caribbean, and 1 Norwegian. The Fantasy was my first and looks to be my last as well. Started out fun with a smooth embarkation. First night was fun until we got to the dining room which was the late seating. With only 2 waiting on us and many other tables the service was terrible. Food courses were forgotten, food was cold, and it was impossible to find either waiter for beverage refills or any other help. Also no longer do you get a choice of breads. Now they just give you hard Cuban bread. The two fellas were awful nice but you could tell they were overwhelmed. This would happen all three nights. This was very disappointing to my wife and I as we always thought of all 3 big cruise lines Carnival had the best MDR food. I'm afraid to say no longer. Never saw my cabin attendant. Never happen before. Second day was in port. Breakfast in the lido buffet was terrible. Long lines, awful eggs, constant missing food like fruit was frustrating. Ended up with half a bagel and some canned peaches. After breakfast we got together to explore Nassau. They decided to do a drill during debarkation closing one of the gangways. Good timing Carnival. Otherwise we had fun, until dinner of course. Same problems. Cold soup, missing entrees, and no chance of refills. My favorite dessert melting chocolate cake was cold as well. Menu was bad as well. Got a cheeseburger. Still no Cabin attendant sighting. Band was good before dinner. Sea day. Same problems with breakfast so I got a breakfast burrito at the burrito bar. Was just ok. Staff was not very friendly. Common theme on the ship. Went to the sports bar in the rear of the ship to watch football. Now Carnival did a great job with this. They had every football game televised. Never seen this before. Had a great time. Got another cheeseburger from the burger joint. Good burgers. However no longer can you get all the sides you used to be able to get like macaroni and cheese and chicken nuggets. No hot dogs either. Just burgers and fries. Dinner was the same. Nobody really wanted to go but the Lido buffet is so bad and we wanted to be with our family for dinner. Never once saw our cabin attendant. So strange. That has never happen. We are so broken hearted over the decline of Carnival. The last 3 cruises ranging for 7 day cruises to this one a 3 it's been the same this being the worse by far. We were on the Breese and Sensation as well. The Fantasy ship from the first time we sailed her in 1998 to now in 2016 has changed quite a bit. They have upgraded the decor but I have to say I miss the Vegas style promenade deck. The different rooms do look nice but the ship was often dirty and overcrowded. Carnival does not manage crowds well like RCC. We won't be back. Read Less

My wife and I decided to go on a cruise for our anniversary. It was the worst experience ever. The food was the same day in and day out. Our list of ports that we were supposed to visit were changed. We were not notified until we were walking onto the ship. They claimed they notified everyone 20 days prior but their own website for our cruise said that it had not changed. We were supposed to be in the Bahamas, we went to key west and were at sea the first two days. Finally, on the 3rd day we arrived at Nassau. Because our destinations changed our excursions were cancelled and we had to pick new one. We picked one for Nassau and it was canceled. We were told about the cancellation until we had waited on the dock for an hour that we went back on the ship and asked when we were going to leave. Also, we still have not been refunded our shore excursion purchase price yet. Its now 3 weeks later. Read Less

First let me start by saying that my wife and I have been on 13 cruises in the past 15 years so we are seasoned cruisers. Although it's been several years, we have been on Royal Caribbean several times in the past and had no complaints. Our nightmare started the night we boarded with diner. The food arrived cold and didn't taste very good. several people at our table complained and sent back entrees for these reasons. (Much to our surprise, this continued throughout the cruise). The next morning when we awoke, we were informed that due to bad seas, we could not visit the first island. We understand that this happens sometimes but the ship was totally unprepared for it. the pool had been drained and was not available for most of the day and of course there were no places to sit on deck due to people saving chairs for others that never showed up. When I asked the staff about it, I was told there was nothing they could do about it even though there were signs on deck to the contrary. Since the weather was so bad we went to the excursion desk to cancel our snorkeling trip for the following day only to be told that we could not cancel, so we lost the money for that excursion. My wife went to the ship library to get a book only to find that there were only three books in the library. I went to the internet cafe to check messages and found that three if the six computers there were out of service. Then when I wrote to Royal Caribbean about the problems, I got a letter back saying they were sorry and they would try to do better next time we sailed with them. I'm sure that wont happen. Read Less

To sum up my review of this cruise in only 150 words is merely impossible. My experience with Carnival Victory ruined my cruise experience and has left me highly disappointed in the experience I thought I would get. To sum my trip, here's a list of everything that was wrong; -ship changed entire destination (Nassau, Grand Turk) -not even a full day at destination (9:30am-4:00pm) time at Grand Turk -Islanders had no idea cruise was even coming( I spoke to several they had no idea Carnival was supposed to arrive) -All excursions Cancelled - choppy waters due to weather left boat going 20kts through rough waters making ship rock uncomfortably especially for dinning halls -24 hr food wasn't 24 hours, service stations weren't opened and didn't offer variety of food. -painting ship with guests aboard highly sickening aromas - pool closures due to waves in pool too big soaking the deck, Actually saw many guests fall from the ships rocking as well as slick surfaces from waves crashing out of the pool. -staff couldn't answer questions clearly and comprehensive -poor room services waited 1.5 hours for 2 sandwiches which after cancelling came to the room later. with the wrong order. Overall I can say that I am never going to take another carnival cruise or am I going to refer anyone else of my friends or family to take a carnival cruise. I went on this cruise as an office retreat. Let's just say if this was the first cruise I'd ever gone on I'd never cruise again! Disembarking was not good we were supposed to board at 12:30 we didn't get on the boat until after 1:30. The muster drill was mind-blowingly ridiculous they had us standing out there for 45 minutes and showed us absolutely nothing at all! Our first night at dinner was horrible the ship was so rocky none of us could enjoy the dinner due to the rocking which made a lot of us sick. Most of the food was absolutely disgusting none of the desserts from the "sweet shop" were sweet the food in the buffet was cold, old with no seasoning and the lines were way too long! There was a magician show we planned to go see when we got to the room where the show was to be held there was no magician about 2 minutes later the phone rang so one of the passengers answered they let us know that the magician would not be showing up! The comedy club was lame not funny at all, the pools were dirty. There were a couple of minor good things like the pizza, the chopsticks place and the club was fun but it got tooo smokey and ratchet late into the night. Our room was on the 6th deck, two nights in a row the way to our room was blocked off by a barricade thing so we had to go to the other side of the ship to walk back around to our room that was very inconvenient. I was very happy when I got off that boat! I guess you get what you pay for Read Less

I was terribly sick on day one. My room was very small, which is understood but the bunk bed that I had to sleep on was not leveled right as my average height self could not sit on the bed comfortably my neck had to be bent for me to sit up as the bed above me was set too low. The dining room dinner was nasty. There were no children friendly options for my 2 children that I paid for. Except on night 5, it was offered to them. On day 2 I went to the customer service desk and spoke to and Eden and ask for the info on the 110 percent guarantee. He said I could not take advantage of it because my children were not complaining and that they could not stay on the boat without me. WHAT?????? I was sick and not enjoying my experience and wanted to go home. But I was told my children would not be part of the guarantee. then we did not have running hot water for day 1 and day 2. and because the dinner was so nasty we ordered pb and j on night 1 at 8:40 pm and we passed out waiting on it as it didn't come till almost midnight. day 2 I was so sick and I staid in the bed. On day 3, we got off the boat and my 6 year old daughter was pushed by the man hearding all the people off the boat. He didn't even care. Our time on the island was mostly spent waiting to come back to the Valor. Then on the last day as I am checking my charges I was charged for an in room call that was made by the 4th adult in my room, not me. They refused to remove it from my bill. And now that I am home there is a 44.00 charge that was NOT even on the paper that was printed out and given to me as the final charges. I will never travel with Carnival again. I cannot forget the 119 dollar spa package that I finally decided to pay for on the last day as I wanted something nice out of the trip. But I went at 730 pm and we are placed right beneath the kid camp. it was dancing and jumping and loud annoying noise right above my massage. I could not relax. then they charged 17 dollars and some change for the gratuity so it was not discounted. plus it was to be 75 minutes bt it lasted 60 minutes. Plus the only excursion I was interested in was at Freeport, and that was taken off the table ue to the hurricane, It was emailed last minute to us, but when I called in the day prior I was told no changes. We choose this cruise due to the dates we could travel. We heard from friends and seeing other reviews it should have been a great trip. It wasn't. The ship itself was nice. The stewards, bartenders and waiters etc. were excellent. The problems we encountered were very rough seas, terrible food and over crowding. The only thing that was even worth eating was the pizza. The cocktails were very good. I saw many people using one cabin. There was a serious problem finding places to sit on the lido deck. We couldn't get into our first port due to Hurricane Mathew but we didn't know this until the morning of the cruise. I called 3 days before and was told there was no issues with Freeport. We were at sea 2 full days before we made it to Nassau. There is little to no security on the boat. We saw several people vocally fighting and one physical fight. Other passengers literally let their young children run around unattended to all hours of the night. We weren't the only ones that felt this way. All of the people I spoke with said it was the worse trip they'd ever been on. Read Less

Horrible service! Horrible value! There are hidden fees. Horrible service from staff aboard the ship. Because of the mandatory gratuity that is automatically added to your account, the staff may feel as if good service is not necessary because they are being tipped regardless. The food options were lacking... unless you wanted to pay additional fees to upgrade to more desirable dishes. The free room service that is stated on line is non existent....it consists of 2 premade sandwich choices and is not free, there is a fee. Ship appearance and decor is outdated. Furthermore, the company can change dates and cruise locations at will without issuing a refund. They will promise you a refund and then refuse you. They took me on a cruise to no where that did not dock when I paid for a cruise to the Bahamas. They did not even notify me of this until I arrived at the port. Big scam....not worth it. I unfortunately did not do my research until after which showed countless complaints and that they are NOT approved by the Better Business Bureau. I think its better to stay on the safe side with Carnival. Read Less

Cruise should have been cancelled due to Hurricane Matthew. We received this text message from Royal Caribbean which stated the ship was sailing on Friday, October 7 2016 anyway. S: Important Update: Empress of the Seas - October 7, 2016 This is Royal Caribbean International with important update regarding changes to your boarding time for your sailing on Empress of the Seas departing Friday, October 7. Given Hurricane Matthew's current location and projected path, as well as the port's closure, Empress of the Seas was delayed arriving to Port Miami. Boarding for your cruise will now begin at 5:00 PM. Due to limitations at the port, guests who arrive prior to 5 PM will be asked to return when the terminal is ready. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to welcoming you onboard! To confirm: reply with YES and send. When we arrive at 4:30, we were told you could have boarded earlier. We had 6:00 dinner reservations. In the middle of dinner, we were told to attend muster call. Food quality and selection was extremely poor in the WindJammer. Hot items at the brunch in the dinner room were cold. Omelette station at breakfast has been removed. Credits applied to the missed day due to hurricane were incorrect. We visited guest services numerous times to have this corrected. We departed the Port of Miami at approximately 8:30 PM and wasted a day at sea and only visited Nassau and not Key West. I have been cruising with RCCL for approximately 15 years. Terrible experience and extremely disappointed. Read Less

This was by far the worst cruise I have been on yet. The original destination was to Bermuda but the itinerary changed prior to our departure due to weather. We found out through a relative using twitter that we were headed to Florida and the Bahamas (after spending one night stuck at the dock in Manhattan) as there was no communication to the passengers. If you asked one of the employees what was going on, no one could give you an answer at all. The food in the buffet was cold and there was no variety. Maintenance on the ship made it impossible to find seating for food or participate in activities; some of which were canceled but again nothing communicated to the passengers. The dining rooms have very few selections and were very, very slow; often taking over two hours. The change in itinerary left little time to see or do anything; seven hours in Florida and Five in the Bahamas. I understand there was a hurricane but the contingencies should have been thought out better or, at least, indicate this before everyone is stuck on the boat and offer an option of a refund or sail. We had an inside cabin, which was nothing special and what we expected. There was no problem with it other than our sink took forever to drain. The few times we had it cleaned the staff kept it up to par. They were friendly and helpful when we needed it. My husband got sick on the boat and wanted to go to sick bay. It was closed! We walked in anyway and the guy gave him "Sea Sick" pills that consisted of a large dose of ginger. They didn't help at all and the guy locked the door behind us after we left. We are, now, assuming his illness was food poisoning and not sea sickness; I had a case of the runs after eating at the Brazilian restaurant. As for entertainment the Rock of Ages show was fantastic but the staff was very rude. An entire family got yelled at for sitting in a handicap section and forced to move; two of the people had limps. As the show was starting more people sat in those same seats and were not told to move. Also, you couldn't bring food into the theater, you could have all the alcohol you wanted, but you couldn't snack on anything. Carnival at least allows you to bring in snacks. This was annoying as you many of the shows run during dining hours and you're left with eating cold buffet or paying extra for the specialty restaurants. Other than the shows there is not much left for entertainment unless you want to pay extra for wine tastings. We had a voicemail on our cabin phone everyday for the art auction. Most of the time you are stuck either sitting by the pools or in the atrium; both of wich are very loud. I was disappointed that the few times they showed movies on the big screens they were after ten or eleven pm. I spent 90% of the time either walking around the jogging path or watching tv in my cabin as there was not much to do for non-drinkers on the boat. I am thinking twice about going on a cruise with this cruise line again. I definitely would not go on this ship again. The lack of communication with the passengers is by far the worst thing any cruise line can do! Read Less

Took this cruise to use the credit from the last bad NCL cruise. This one was even worse. If you like to get drunk, it may be fine, free liquor. I drink very lightly, so that is not a draw for me. However they don't even have gluten-free beer for us celiacs, pretty bad. I ordered gluten free toast, that was served on top of wheat English muffins with the same tongs. Now that may not sound bad to most of you, but talk to a celiac and you'll learn that is a major problem. I am lucky I don't get ill from contamination, but I am a rare one. When you have celiac, you order your food the day before, and even then I was greeted with "the chef could not do that, would you like shrimp? (I am allergic to shellfish). They ran out of butter, and the food was about coffee shop quality. I would not recommend this line for Celiac people, the chance of contamination is 99% if you eat! The tours were thrown together since we had port changes, but terribly unorganized. They called our tour, and when I went to go out, was told no, not your tour. Later we are told, all the tours left are for after 1pm. NO, mine is 11:15.....oh we called that one. So the worker was wrong and made us late to the tour. On other lines organization had groups sitting together in meeting area to exit together. The casino management was rude and arrogant, saying "too bad" if you had a complaint. I had to go to passenger services to get the problem solved, which I did. NCL may be seem like a "bargain" for new cruisers, but they dollar you to death. $7.95 to deliver room service? Free on other lines. Convenience fee in casino? Free on other cruises. Even the "free drinks" were sometimes "bait and switch" as they offer what you think is free then they ask for your cruise card. In conversation with several first time cruisers, they were shocked at their bill, when they thought it was included. I think they take advantage of their passengers. The funny part, on most cruises you are inundated with bar service, offering drinks. On NCL, with free drinks, belly up to the bar and get your own. Since it is free, they make you stand in line like a cafeteria! And the lines are long! The women's public bathrooms were often only two toilets, and in many of them, one was out of order. The out of order was not for a day, but the whole cruise. So one close by restroom for dining room? It was more convenient to go to your stateroom. I love cruising, and once in a while you get a dud, but on NCL, all three have been below standard, with each one getting worse and not better. Read Less
