I wanted to try Norwegian. I have been on several cruises with Carnival and Royal Caribbean and MSC. The food in the buffet was terrible. The hallway to the cabins smelled terrible. The staff was rude and the casino cheated my husband out of $3500.00. We wasted our money and our time! When we got to Key West Norwegian wasted so much of our time to be at Key West. The food was terrible. To get any decent food you had to pay extra for it. The pool area was small and was always over crowded. The cruise line only has Pepsi products. I hate Pepsi products. The room steward kept interrupting is while we were resting or trying to get ready. He kept knocking on our door asking questions. Norwegian cruise line doesn't even make the cute towel animals. There was nothing done to make you feel special like the other cruise lines! Worst cruise ever!! Read Less

I chose this cruise because I had a pleasant experience with Carnival 2 years ago on the Carnival Liberty. I should have chosen another cruise line, the first trip seemed to be a one-off lucky good time. SHIP CONDITION: The sunshine is dirty, tired, and cabins DO smell as reported in other reviews. The porter entered our room without permission, and with the DND tag hanging on the door on the first night of the trip. My 16 year old and I were both horrified. There was no explanation given for the mistake. When we boarded the ship and entered our cabin it smelled like foul body odor, carpets were stained, the bathroom was dirty. We thought it would be nice/special because I paid extra for the “Cloud 9 Spa Balcony Cabin”. Clearly a huge waste if money! I was also told by Carnival’s Customer Service when I booked the room that ALL Spa services were included with the cost of the cabin... Not true. Anything to make a sale I suppose, or horrible training of Carnival staff. POOLS: The 3 so called pools are tiny, dirty, and don’t adequately serve the number of passengers (approx 5,000). One of which is the waterslide landing pool, which is considered a “swimming pool” and advertised as such. We did not use any pool on-board the ship due to filthy conditions. Deck floors were sticky and filthy, all around gross environment. PORT CONDITIONS: The Charleston port was awful, like a state fair pole barn. Hot, foul smelling, and we were herded like cattle despite purchasing “Faster to the Fun”. Upon arrival it was awful, and departure was even worse. Employees were rude and acted as if we were not welcome. A shame because Charleston is beautiful... Apparently many people drive from Charlotte and other nearby locations to use this port. It is not managed professionally, it was extremely hot and everyone was moody. FOOD: The food was frankly terrible. The buffet food was dull, repetitive, and similar to school cafeteria food. Over or undercooked, cold, and ingredients were not posted. (I have food allergies). The saving grace was Guy’s Burger Joint. That was good, and I could trust it. Even the buffet desserts were awful. One fellow passenger chose chocolate cake and said to me “Well if I add a heap of chocolate sauce it might then taste like chocolate!”. We did not eat in any of the restaurants on-board for fear the food would be just as bad and we would have to pay extra for more bad food. Room service was also poor. Coffee was bad, half and half was delivered in a plastic cup. Simple chicken tenders from room service were over-cooked and non-edible. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The customer service was terrible onboard and on excursion shuttles. People were not friendly, there was no excitement in the air. It was dull because our hosts were dull. We were not treated as guests who in some instances paid a great deal of money for the cruise. Honestly it felt as if we were a burden that the staff didn’t want to deal with. We seemed to be an added chore. Our shuttle to Blue Lagoon Island was “ok”’on the way over. We were told we could return to Nassau at 1:15. We made sure to book our VIP Dolphin Swim early so we could go shopping before we had to board the ship. We waited in the heat for the 1:15 shuttle, but when it arrived the captain advised he was not transporting anyone until 2:15. At least 100 people were in line, and we asked why. He simply said the shuttle was cancelled, we had to wait. After many people complained he relented and allowed us to board. On the way back to port the music was blasted so loudly that we had to cover our ears, many of us complained with no resolution. Almost comical in hindsight, rows of passengers with our fingers in our ears! And again, the crew was very rude. By the time we got back to port we only had time to shop in the port shops, which are questionable at best. We didn’t feel safe, so we returned to the ship with no cool Nassau souvenirs. This was absolutely unacceptable. AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION SERVICES In Charleston you can Uber to and from the airport for $40.00 total. The Carnival transportation is $30.00 per person per destination for a total of $120.00 for two passengers. The transport service was seriously disorganized. I paid for transportation from the airport to the ship, with the intention of price shopping Uber for the ride back to the airport. On my way to the airport (to get to Charleston) I called Carnival to make sure my transportation was lined up because I had received nothing in my cruise documents except a notation that I had purchased that “excursion”. The Customer Service employee told me I had not purchased transportation. I advised I had my receipt in my hand, and tried to give her the confirmation number. She wouldn’t take the number and said my payment was not processed. She then told me to call the shuttle company! She gave me the number rather than calling herself. I proceeded to call them. I was told that my daughter and I were listed as confirmed passengers and that the Carnival employees were not trained properly on a new internal system. Needless to say, after price shopping we chose Uber for our trip back to the airport when we left after the cruise. Carnival charges MUCH TOO MUCH for airport to pier/ pier to airport shuttle service. They make you believe you “need” to purchase through them, paying exorbitant fees. OVERALL EXPERIENCE: The Carnival Sunshine, as I said, is an old and tired ship. The employees act as if they are old and tired too. I consider this cruise to have been a huge waste of money, and will not ever cruise on this particular ship-if I even cruise Carnival-again. If I was offered a free cruise from Carnival via Charleston I would not accept because it was such an awful experience. It is so disappointing when you look forward to, and pay for a trip that is meant to create meaningful memories, and walk away with this. A whole lot of nothing except shoppers remorse. ADVICE: Price shop ALL cruise lines. They all have specials, don’t assume Carnival is all you can afford. The sunshine was basically a floating bar providing transportation to Nassau. Look at all of your options, I wish I had but was under the impression that I was getting a good deal because I am a VIPF member due to past cruises. Once I realized I had over-paid it was too late to cancel the trip. And most importantly, don’t cruise from Charleston, SC unless you are willing to deal with undesirable circumstances. Read Less

First cruise and perhaps my last but the experience wast terrible. To start loud noises and rockus accured all hours of the night in our room. Feral children run rampid. Same days we got an itenerary of events and other days we did not. I tripped one night and fell into the toilet (yes the bathroom is on step and many people I've heard his happened). Customer service was all of he place some employees really tried to help guest while others didnt care. I think communication overall was tired. The rooms we very very small. The premium wi-fi ($51) was less than edge most of the cruise. The rooms never swept and the hallways dirty. It definitely wasn't worth the price. Food was the best thing. Gym is 3. I would like to see weight bar. Part of the resonbility falls on the guest too (again very load guest not sure what was going on or if it was fluke) . Read Less

This was my first and last time on Norwegian. I have been on several cruises and Norwegian Sky was the WORST. I wish when the itinerary changed that I cancelled. There was no real entertainment on the entire cruise ship, the food was the same every single day for lunch (lunch buffet only had three items besides hamburgers, hotdogs, sausage, and partially cooked chicken) and for sit down dinner you waited at least 40 minutes to get served cold food. Most of the staff was nice except for the sit down hostess (always had an attitude). There was only one small pool for thousands of people. The wait to get off the boat was just dysfunctional. Please don't use their transportation because they had us standing in the HOT SUN for over an hour waiting for a bus (only one bus taking hundreds of passengers to the airport) and then people that was not waiting in line got on the bus and some people had to wait for an additional hour. Guest Services had no clue and when you reported an issue no one came for hours. Air did not work in room, TV did not work, toilet did not work, sink did not work correctly, and it took constant complaining for changes to happen. I can't think of anything positive except the open bar. One piece of advice - DON'T DO IT............... YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED........ Read Less

Absolutely awful cruise to go on as a honeymoon, should have just spent the entire week in Charleston instead of getting on the boat. Cons: Drinks should not include 18 percent gratuity for just grabbing a beer out of the cooler and should not be around 8 ish per beer. Toilets had no water in them and I had to fill the toilet with water just to get everything down. Breakfast was awful, lunch selections good, service at dinner all but two nights was terrible and should not have charged us the extra server tip. Definitely not worth the money. Not enough selection of engaging events for mid 20 year olds when it rained all day when we were at seas on those specific days. Did not purchase alcohol package and glad we didn’t bc you can’t even use it at half moon cay. Had our drinks confiscated from us at the beginning and they didn’t give a damn about returning them to us at the end of the cruise. 1 bottle of wine per person and they couldn’t even return it to us. Lunch on half moon cay was decent but had to stand in a line forever to get it. They sit you like a foot from dinner guests and we personally like space when we eat. Don’t want to listen to others conversations. Things advertised on website are not the same as what is actually on ship. Laundry rooms suck and do not dry clothes even though they advertise as being new. Pros Nice room stewards Half moon cay is beautiful Overall: would not recommend this to a young couple who have other bills to pay, they will stick you with every little thing they can. Will not be going on carnival again. Nothing is engaged towards our age group when weather doesn’t allow you to lay by pools. If someone from carnival sees this they should just refund our money bc it was not geared towards our age group as we walked around bored the two days it rained when we were at sea. Read Less

I got off the Norwegian Sun today after a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas with my mom. Are you ready for this tale? After boarding on the first day, nothing was open and the rooms weren't ready. When we went to the room, we were given a single bed even though we booked a double beds. We feared my mother's luggage was lost, since it was several hours without it at the room. I spoke with another guest who said that his luggage was put on the wrong ship. We tried to call our room attendant "Brianna", but the number was a busy signal. We called Guest Services, but the number was also busy. The luggage finally arrived around 9 PM while we were eating what tasted like frozen food or bad airplane food in the main dining hall. We then met our real room attendant who explained that the number didn't work because "she went home today on vacation." Not sure why they couldn't replace the card with the correct attendant's name and number? Shortly after eating/drinking on the ship, we would get horrible cramps. We did not know the cause until after looking up the symptoms on the internet today (the cruise charged $35 per device each day for WiFi) that we had contracted THE NOROVIRUS! Why did we contract the Norovirus? "Washy Washy" was not everywhere on the ship and we watched the workers clean the tables without gloves and without disinfectant. The ship was dirty and we saw crumbs on the floor and on the tables everywhere. The tables were cleaned with wet rags and food everywhere was not bussed. So much so, that seagulls would have feasts on the deck outside on the questionable food no one seemed to enjoy. Comfortable sleep did not happen because we didn't have working AC the entire trip. We called maintenance the first night to fix the AC, but there still was no cold air circulating in our room. We would feel cold air while passing other guests' rooms and in other parts of the ship. The repair man explained that the coldest our room was allowed to get is 73 degrees and the ship utilizes "chilled recycled ocean water." However, 73 degrees would have been tolerable unlike the 80 degree room that we had. We were sweating laying on top of the covers every night tossing and turning. Everytime we reached out to Guest Services, a person who could not understand English very well would get confused and tell us everything was fine. To make matters worse, our toliet would not flush and the sink constantly made a loud gurgling sound. The toliet was fixed a total of 4 times and the AC was "fixed" about the same amount if not more. The bathroom smelled of rank sewage, so we had to constantly spray hair spray in there to not gag every time we had to enter. The shower was also repaired twice, since only scalding hot water came out. We spoke with 4 other guests that claimed their room FLOODED! The toliet and shower eventually worked on the last day of the trip, but the AC never worked. We are leaving the trip completely exausted (and sick). The entertainment on the ship was beyond cheesy and usually involved the ship begging for more money. The ship's shops were desperate money grabs, much like the $5.50 bottle of Aquafina placed in our room to "tempt" us. The food was subpar and every meal oredered was taking a chance. During one dinner, I ordered French Onion soup because I thought how can you mess that up? Much to my suprise, that was bad too. The soup tasted like only beef stock and had no flavors of onion, salt, or bouillon. The ship also kept trying to pass off certain foods as gourmet. For example, one appetizer on the menu was "cream cheese and crab stuffed wonton with a sweet chilli sauce". Isn't that called, "crab rangoon"? We noticed a lot of interesting menu items that we believed to be recycled leftovers from other meals like adding bacon to sauerkraut. We picked snorkeling/beach day for our excursion in Freeport, Bahamas which came be to around $150. When we arrived to get on the bus for the excursion, we were informed that the snorkeling was canceled due to weather. The ship did not inform us earlier of this and instead loaded up a tour bus full of guests whom we suspect were charged the full amount for a 15 minute shuttle to the beach. Instead, we went back to the ship and asked for a refund. We then caught a taxi which only came to $14 for both of us. The White Party/Glow Party was held from 10:30 PM-12:00 AM the night before a port of call was 7 AM. The party took place by the pool deck and it was raining. The workers were squeegeeing the deck and the DJ was trying to get the crowd to come out from hiding from the rain. After the rain stopped, the crowd came out to dance and consisted mainly of small children. The DJ played EDM music for a bit, then switched to explicit rap much to the horror of the parents in attendance. They had a twerk contest on the stage and parents were taking their children to leave. A woman with a see through dress and a thong on got in the splits and began dancing like a stripper on the stage for everyone to see, kids and adults alike. There were other people on stage dancing that kept it clean, but she had to be pulled off stage because she was showing her buttcrack/vagina. There looked to be children watching as young as 5-12 years old. The DJ was blasting Cardi B songs and asked the crowd of kids to sing along to the explicitly laced lyrics. I left after that, since I had no interest in twerking around little kids. Small things such as crew members not knowing guests' names, no towel animals, and no drinks being served by the beach chairs were also a disappointment. We cruised with NCL in 2015 and had a fantastic time, so we suspect there must have been a restructuring within management. The cruise reaked of budget cuts and corporate greed. We suspect that the workers were paid very little and we were told that they rarely get to go home to their families in their home countries. Sorry if this was too much to read, but I did not want to spare any of the details. I posted this on NCL's Facebook page, but it was taken down by the moderators (suprise). Read Less

This was our 5th time on the same cruise, which we love because of the convenience of leaving from NYC and not having to fly to get to the departure port. Boarding was an absolute breeze and we were on board by 11:30am. The mini suite we were in was fine, and we selected it because it was on the 11th floor, just 3 doors from the Thermal Spa, which we had purchased the week long pass. The dinners in the Venetian Main Dining room were fabulous, with great selections every night. We also did 3 nights in the specialty restaurants (Moderno, Cagney's and Le Bistro), which were also wonderful, with great service and selections. Lunch was generally at the buffet, which was adequate, but better than the main dining room which had the same menu every day for lunch. Breakfasts at the Venetian were outstanding, but the service for breakfast was generally slow and it took a long time, which was ok most mornings as we were in no rush. Entertainment was generally good. The aerialists and the magician were exceptional, but the singers and the comic were just ok. We did the therapy spa package for the week, which was nice, but there were several times we had to complain to the front desk that people in the spa were obnoxiously load and there were no signs that it was supposed to be a "quiet" zone. Spa staff apologized to us but I don't think they did anything about it. The spa on the Gem was much nicer with a much better use of space. First day of cruise was fine, but on the 2nd day I began having heart palpitations, which was not something new for me, but they usually end quickly within a few minutes. This time they lasted for over 24 hours, so on Monday 7/22 when we were due to dock in Cape Canaveral, I finally broke down and went to the medical center on board. After the doctor did an EKG he determined I had Atrial Fibrulation (AFib), but within 1/2 hour of my arrival in the medical center the palpitations ended and my EKG was normal. The doctor demanded that I remain in the treatment room and they connected me to an IV glucose drip and did a lot of blood work, chest xray etc. My partner and I were both asking how long I would need to stay there and the doctor pulled my partner aside and told him he didn't understand the magnitude of the situation. The doctor then informed my partner that he needed to go pack all of our bags and collect our passports because we were to be evacuated from the ship by ambulance to the nearest ER as soon as we arrived in Port Canaveral. We both questioned the need for such extreme measures, but the doctor on the ship was determined that we were to leave the ship and would not be returning for the remainder of the cruise. Having no other recourse, my partner packed all of our bags and got our passports and the ambulance came to the port and loaded me up. As the EMTs were taking me off the boat on the stretcher, we were stopped at the gangway by NCL staff who had to swipe our cruise cards. They came up to me on the stretched and told me I had a credit on my account and needed to take care of it before I could leave the ship. The charges thus far for the medical care I received on board were $3800 and they wanted there money immediately! For at least 5 minutes, while I was supposedly in such great need of immediate medical attention, the EMTs were not allowed to remove me from the ship until NCL was certain they would get paid. They already had my credit card account set up at the time we checked in on 7/20, so the charges were already on my credit card. We also found out the there was a mandatory $800/person fee required to end the cruise early, regardless of the reason or circumstances, which NCL already charged on my partner's charge card, prior to our leaving the ship. They finally let the EMTs remove me and take me to the Cocoa Beach Hospital ER. The service at the ER was superb and I was taken in and seen by a doctor within 10 minutes of my arrival. after being there about 4 hours, and after several more EKGs, bloodwork and another chest xray, the doctor came in again and basically questioned why I was even there. We explained everything to him, and ultimately he gave me 2 prescription for my newly diagnosed AFib and released me. I told him the doctor on the ship specifically stated that he would NOT allow us back on board without a written medical clearance from a doctor at the hospital. The ER doctor wrote me a note of clearance to travel, and we were on our way in time to get back to the ship by around 6;30p. The ship set sail at 8p and passengers had to be on board an hour early, so we just made it in time. This whole day in Cape Canaveral was supposed to have been a pleasant day with our family who were driving up from Ft Lauderdale (4hrs each way) to meet us and then go with us to Kennedy Space Center. They ended up spending the day with us in the ER and then driving us back and forth from our ship and to 2 area pharmacies for my prescriptions. My real issue was that the physician on the ship couldn't wait to get me off the ship and remove any liability they might have for my health etc. If it truly was such an emergency then how can they possibly explain why we were literally held on board the ship and the EMTs were not allowed to remove me by stretcher until they had my account settled? The ER staff ultimately determined that my medical condition was not urgent enough to terminate my cruise, so thankfully we were allowed to return to our ship and they did remove the fee of $800/person for early termination of our cruise. NCL needs to seriously look at their policies in terms of both customer service and their medical policies. I would advise anyone who books a cruise on any cruise line to strongly consider buying the trip/medical insurance policies. They would cover the $800 per person fees for ending your cruise early and they would also cover many of the emergency expenses. We will never travel again without trip insurance. I truly hope this helps someone avoid going through what we went through.... Read Less

I went on MSC Seaside thought I would give it a try. The ship is huge and a good ship for family's however, the pool areas did not have any towels. The cabin was fair and as expected the attendant Juan Tan was the best person on the trip. The dinning experience was terrible, if your going to offer juices, coffee, and water have someone going around and offer it to them. They barley had any cookies sometimes i just needed one and couldn't get it. The fridge or mini bar was locked couldn't put anything in it. They pushed there drink packages upon you, however they don't tell you that its per day or per person, the internet was way to expensive 43 bucks per day not for hour or whatever and they didn't even have any printers god forbid if i had to print anything. I never tried any of the entertainment or activities. The service was horrible they all speak different languages and you can't understand them. I had a hard time even putting a credit card on room because the company is from Paris and the cards say fraud even though you told the credit card company ahead of time. The port of calls, well first one was cancelled and they should of replaced it with another but instead out of a 7 day cruise 4 of them were spent at sea boring. I would never recommend this ship to anyone its way to expensive to do anything. Read Less

You could smell it 2 floors down in the dining area. The staff on the ship were not educated on events and where to go many times we asked. We have cruises many times and this was probably the most disappointing cruise we have ever been on. Our cabin was nice and we enjoyed having a balcony but when we tried to sit out there the people in cabin 8051 were smoking. We were not told this ship allowed smoking or we would not have scheduled a cruise in this ship. The staff when we got off the ship in customs were very rude to everyone getting off of the ship. This was by far the worst cruise I’ve ever been on. At the terminal the guest representative was handicapped deaf and could not hear or speak understandably. Horrible ship in terms of layout and maintenance. They had poor customer service where the representatives do not understand English and most of the times do not answer their phones. This ship had filthy conditions, it was a hot ship, and had cheesy entertainment. Don’t expect clean conditions, proper air conditioning, working toilets, or temperate shower water (scalding hot only) in your room. Our room card for our steward provided a number that didn’t work and was told that the individual was on vacation! We were informed by other workers. This Ship is always warm and you really don’t cool off from the heat. The crew members Nickel and dime you for everything and the drinks are awful. Don’t expect the free coffee, lemonade, or water to be good either. Coffee is instant, water tastes funny, and lemonade is questionable. The free at sea unlimited drinks is a joke and they don’t make good drinks. You also get 1 small cup at a time and there’s always a long line. Got sick from either the improper food handling or the free water because I wouldn’t spend $5.50 for a bottle of Aquafina. For the entertainment, it’s all very cheesy. The White dance party is gone and now it’s a Glo party which is supposably family friendly, but they have rap music blasting or play Cardi B asking guests to sing along songs with the F bombs for all the younger kids to hear while they have a twirking contest with a woman in a thong doing obscene things on stage! Hardly something your kids should see! And out by the pool they had a man strip literally rip off his shirt, grind and do obscene things on the judges and then strip and wore nothing but his underwear! Also all the adult entertainment is held late the night before you arrive in port at 7:00 AM, and then again on your final night when you arrive very early as well. Poor planning on Norwegian’s part. Cruise with another company, NCL has changed, and not for the better. This cruiseline has become total trash. Read Less

I’ve been on 20+ cruises, mainly on Royal Caribbean. I went with a group of girlfriends on Carnival Sunshine. We live 2hrs from Charleston and is why we chose this ship. Upon arrival all three of our rooms was HOT. We were on deck 9 which was the “Spa” level. It was so bad 2 of the ladies slept on the balcony the first night just to get some relief in their room. We had maintenance check our temperature in our room twice on our four day cruise and it was 75* so we had to shut the curtains during the day to help which defeats having a room with a balcony and seeing the view. Thank goodness I brought a fan from home or we would have been really miserable getting ready for dinner each night and at night sleeping. We went to lunch at the buffet twice and couldn’t finish our meal because it was so hot in there too. One evening all three rooms lost power as we were getting ready for dinner. We called guest services which in turn told us we were plugging in too many things at once, after about 30 min they fixed the issue but we were late for dinner. The food on the ship was OK. My best meal was room service BLT if that says anything. If your considering the FTTF, do it. It’s worth it. We had a great time with each other and that’s what it was about but would I go on this ship or recommend it, NO!!! Read Less

This was my second cruise, first being with just my son (10 months at the time), and I. This second cruise was with our whole family. It was by far the worst family vacation we've ever had. Never again will we use carnival. They screwed up all our room assignments (they gave me a $300 on board credit that got immediately eaten up by gratuities), staff is beyond rude, no one cares if you are having a issue unless you inform them you are having issues with locating your autistic son due to the incompetent staff shuffling my kids to the wrong zone for the drill. My son was suppose to be excused from the drill due to his medical issues but nooooooooo the steward staff made my son, daughter, and grandmother leave their room. By the time I reached my son he was a minute away from passing out. He has heat triggered seizures. The guest service manager tried to prevent me from getting my son out of the drill area. I had to yell at her he needed to leave. When she came to find me to try to I guess tell me about myself she realized the situation was actually serious she then changed her stank attitude and tried to kiss butt. Same with the dinning room staff in the Atlantic dinning room. The hostess was so rude and the head manager as well but of course when I said to my fiance that situation was just one more thing to add to our email to corporate he changed his attitude. It seems in order for the crew to be nice you have to inform them you are contacting corporate. I could honestly go on and on about how horrible the crew was but Ill save myself from getting frustrated again. As far as food.... It was gross. Eggs are super runny, bacon is dang near raw, pancakes taste like crap, syrup is watered down, even the main dinning room dinner is just bad. The only thing i enjoyed was the crab legs and I had to pay $25 for it. No matter if it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner its crap. We did the cat in the hat breakfast and although my kids enjoyed meeting the characters the food was basic. Now the port.... We stopped in Nassau bahamas and man oh man that port was NASTY. As soon as we got off the ship we were disgusted by how dirty the port was. And then when we got past the tourist information gate we were swarmed by ppl trying to push services or merch on us. That was annoying but i get it. What got me really annoyed was numerous guys came up to us (my kids too) asking if we needed weed or "blow" (im assuming thats cocaine). Like they have no care in the world there are little kids there. A lot of shops try to play you aswell and take your money claiming they have no change. Thank god I read and did my research before we got there and knew not to buy anything at the port and to walk a few blocks down to get everything cheaper. the straw market was interesting.... VERY hot so that was interesting to see how all these vendors just deal with the heat. Getting on and off the boat was pretty easy but we did get off 2 hours after we ported and got back on a way before everyone else. Now the debarking wasn't too bad. I didnt wait for our deck number bc frankly my son was just tired of waiting and starting to get a big sensory overload. They didnt give me issues about leaving before our deck was called. Aside from all the issues with food, staff, ect, the boat it self was overly crowded, our room didnt even get turned one day, there was a lot of rust around the boat, there isnt much to do either. Even with the little they had to do it was so packed it wasnt worth waiting for the activities. We also had a party crew in the room across from us and holy crap they were loud. The screaming and laughing lasted up until around 3am and started right back up at 8am. It was very annoying. Security even came up a few times bc i guess other guest complained but those ppl could care less and the moment security was gone they started yelling again. Oh and lets not forget about on both decks 6 and 7 (I had two rooms) the hallways reeked of marijuana. Def not something I want my kids to be smelling. Oh and let me not forget to mention how the communication between the 800 number, the crew on the boat from the different departments and management has HORRIBLE COMMUNICATION. No one knows anything and none of the requested accommodations I requested for my autistic child and my other child with server food allergies were granted So if asked if i would ever use carnival again.... my answer would be "HECK NO"! This will have been the first and the last time I ever give them a shot. Read Less

This was my first cruise and I was not impressed with this one. Let me start with the only positive. Ease of getting on board was fairly simple. The ship is extremely old and outdated. We had an ocean view room with rusted windows, bathroom reeked of urine throughout our stay and the shower never drained properly. The staff was borderline rude and they weren't the friendliest. Once we got the key to the room they had a meeting that took place at the muester stations. The staff member literally knocked on our door once and before I could answer they used a key to burst into the room which was very disrespectful and wrong. What if I had been naked or my children? No one spoke clear English and forget asking a staff member where something was. They seemed to never could explain or give proper directions which was frustrating as the ship was very big. The food was hit or miss. The only good food was at dinner time but it was never hot. The servers at dinner were the friendliest throughout the entire ship. The food served daily was ok but there were times where some were closed and hundreds of people on the ship would be left standing in long lines for food at breakfast and lunch time. Watch out for the charges to your account! There were so many people that complained about extra gratuities and the guest services lines were always long. Forget trying to call guest services from your room it was always busy or they simply never answered. The bathrooms for use throughout the ship were always dirty and gross. Feces left in toilets, tissue everywhere and urine on the floors and the staff never seemed to care. They would clean all around the ship but would not clean the bathrooms as often as they should have been. The pools seemed rusty and the water always looked dirty. It was literally thousands of people aboard the ship so you would think they would keep everything stocked but their were times when the ice cream machines weren't working, cones weren't stocked and the lemonade that they offered was not filled on some machines. You literally get what you pay for! Pay more for an updated ship! I would never recommend this ship to anyone and I will probably never do carnival again. Read Less

This was my first cruise since I had my son five years ago. My previous cruises have been with Carnival. I will start with the positives—embarkation and debarkation were way more efficient than my experience with prior cruises. The specialty dining was amazing. I really enjoyed the private island. It was pure bliss! Beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. Now for the negatives—- The customer service was absolutely terrible. The night we got there my room was filthy. Dust, hairs, unknown crusty stuff in drawers—it was awful! I made a complaint—and housekeeping came and cleaned. Still had crusty bits in drawers and stains on pillows. The room was very worn. Chopped wood in dresses a and closet. The bathroom sink had a screw hanging out. Our steward didn’t even bother to turn down our room or anything on our last night. While most of the staff was incredibly friendly, the workers at the the customer service desk were rude and dismissive. The entertainment was so so, and I was definitely bored by the third night. I chose this cruise about 3 months ago to take my family on a first cruise vacation. I also took my 2 year old which was a huge mistake because there was nothing for him to enjoy also my 12 year old sister wasn’t able to enjoy anything the pool was always full of people smoking around it, the so called game room only had 6 games in total which 3 were broken the machine stoled my money and I told one of the employees he did absolutely nothing just walked away. There were people smoking pot on the ship in the cabins and the outside area I reported it and again nothing was done. My family and I got no sleep at all with all the loud people running and yelling down the hall ways. Food was served cold and it wasn’t good at all I can say we survived by munching on a few things the food was not great at all and I was not offered no type of milk Or food for my son after telling them that he was lactose and tolerance. I gave him apple juice all weekend to keep him hydrated at least. The food they say is included is trash and they charge for absolutely everything plus an 18% fee for every little thing. Absolutely nothing is included please don’t let these people scam you they will charge your card for things that you never ordered or they will say it’s free but still ask for the card to charge it. The room refrigerators were not working I told an employee about it and he said the other one he has wasn’t much better so changing wasn’t going to make a difference. Also the water they give customers to drink is not filtered it’s sink water with ice. I am very disappointed everything that was promised during booking was not even half the service I expected. When I went to the kids club area they tell me that my son can’t stay because he’s under 3 and has to be potty trained this was never clarified to me when I booked this vacation they told me over the phone there was going to be child care service for my son on the ship if I was interested they will sell you the world to get your money. I will not recommend anyone to go with this cruise line at ALL ! Read Less

I've been on over 12 cruises and this is the worst one ever. The ship is small and crowded. 40 percent of the staff are rude as hell. and not helpful at all. Treat you like they're the ones on vacation and you're getting on their nerves just to answer a question. ESPECIALLY customer service! Drinks were flowing and pretty good. However they don't tell you that after you purchase the drink package to include tax you still have to pay an extra tax per drink while you're still in Florida waters...what a scam! The food was decent, especially the burger and taco stand. Don't even think about eating at the buffet unless you want to spend an hour in line. Ridiculous! Our dining room waiter, Darryl was excellent and very accommodating... 5 stars for him! Food was decent, cant really complain about that. The Music was good. But not enough shows onboard. Only had 1 game show and Bingo. I'll never take carnival again! Read Less

I have NEVER been so happy for a vacation to be over!! Booked this 4 day Cruise & Stay for myself and my daughter as a graduation celebration for her and birthday celebration for me. On the ship...Only thing Good was the Food (Restaurant not the Buffet) and the Comedian (Loose Canon) There was lots of musical entertainment but it was strictly for the young twerking crowd or Hispanic... meaning the music was either raunchy rap / twerk music or Hispanic. Fortunately, for me I do like Cumbia, Salsa, Reggae (which they did not play) but would have loved to hear some good R&B or decent Hip Hop. They actually had 2 Parties going on at the same time and they were both Rap & Hip Hop and not the good Hip Hop either. I got into a conversation with a couple who looked to be in their late 40s and they said the same thing...”what are we supposed to do if we want to dance and enjoy music”. When I booked, the Rep put in an order for birthday cake on my birthday. When I mentioned this on the ship, they looked at me like I was crazy; they had NO idea what I was talking about yet “Birthday Cake” it was clearly noted on my Travel Confirmation. But I didn’t press the issue and I just let it go. I was looking forward to a better time on the island. Uh….Nope...not happening. So on the Island…. We left the ship around 10:30am and arrived on the island around 11am. Room checkin wasn’t til 3pm so we had to hang out on the beach til 3pm. So we ate and walked around and walked around and walked around some more in 101 degree weather. So, comes time to check in. We check in and get our luggage. We trek our way down 4 buildings, of course we were in the farthest building. We get to the room and the room key doesn’t work. I asked one of the Housekeepers if she could open it and she said it’s not the key, it’s the door. Apparently she had mentioned this to someone before but it was ignored. So we trek back past these 4 buildings again to Guest Services, stand in line to explain to them the key is not working and mention what the Housekeeper had told me. Guy swipes the key and said it should be working now. S0...we trek our way back down past these 4 buildings AGAIN to our room and try the key AGAIN. Key STILL not working!! So Housekeeper says they’re sending Maintenance down. So, we’re just standing outside the room and by now it feels like it’s 150 degrees. We’re sitting on our luggage waiting for Maintenance who NEVER showed up. Housekeeper said that I could get another room if I went back to Guest Services and I told her NO! I’m not walking all the way back up there again! She said she would do it for me so she took my key and returned about 40 minutes later with the key to a new room. The room they gave us was one they were still cleaning, so we have to wait until they were finished cleaning it. So Housekeeping is rushing trying to get it ready. Finally they let us in and floor is still wet and all we could smell was a super strong overwhelming chemical smell. Kid you not, this smell was so bad it made my eyes water and nose burn and that was with the keeping the balcony door open (and it lasted the whole time we were there). But at least we had a room; close to 2 HOURS later! Now it’s close to 5pm and we’re in the room waiting for towels and pillow cases which took another hour. I just went ahead and took a shower and dried off with the face towel. Finally, we had a room BUT the room they switched us to DID NOT have ocean view as advertised….”All rooms with Oceanview” Yea, if you get an Ocean View on the ship! The view was of a little dirt road that lead to the beach. No beach could be seen from that room / balcony. Entertainment was a DJ that closed up shop at 9pm; 9pm!! WTH! So when the music stopped, you were basically on your own for entertainment….go get another watered down drink and that’s it. NEVER AGAIN!!!! Read Less

We cruised, not impressed. 17 family members total. Two parents, four (42-36yr old siblings), eleven (1-17r) of those offspring. I’m not and will never be impressed with the noise levels at night in the rooms. Disco night was the first night and we could clearly hear all words to the music played, it played well past 11:30 pm. We asked to please lower the volume multiple times, with no success. At the pools we could not all swim together. That was big time dissipointing. We wanted to take pictures of the whole family after early dinner was told our family was too large. On day three it was super hot and the only place my daughter could cool off was under the pool shower. The only for her to play was under with water was “closed due to maintenance”. I would not suggest this ship to any family or large group that like to sleep at night or swim together. I would like to give the best postive of the the experience and that was the early dinner. It was best part of the whole thing, although the family had to sit at seperate tables. The food was great and waiters entertained the our younger guest with magic tricks. Read Less

Cruise over all was moderately okay. The ship was clean and easy to navigate. The cabins were presentable and just enough space for the 4 of us, having the bunk bed really helped. Dining was nice at the included buffet, the food was good and plenty of choices. Every night for entertainment we headed to the theater to watch singing and dancing which was fun to watch. Service was good they were very quick if you need anything at all like plenty of milk at night for the baby. Shore excursion was the best part swimming with the pigs was AMAZING and I highly suggest it. Once 3rd day which is day off the boat the whole family which includes 18 month old and 10 year old ( this was her bday gift) got red little itchy, stinging bumps all over our back, legs, and arms. Went to family dr once back home in Atlanta and diagnosis Bed Bug Bites. Tried reaching over 5x now to manager Maria at the cruise line but she is always in a "meeting". The cruise is what you pay for. Not hot food, small pool, decent service. I was going to suggest cruise to family and friends until this happened. I hate for other children to go thru this. Not the out come I was hoping for my daughters birthday cruise. Best part was swimming with the pigs. The staff was great and tour guide was very informational and friendly. Maria call us back! I only picked this cruise since I was on a budget and wanted to do something for my birthday. I should have known better and saved a little bit more to get on a different cruise line. Where do I start....The port was not a bad drive, however the fact that you have to use valet is not okay. Plus you have to pay $20 a night. At the port when you take your luggage to the tag guy he tells you that after he puts the luggage tag on then you have to take your own luggage inside and wait for him at the end so that he can put the luggage away? Okay...what was the point of that if I have to take my luggage inside myself after you put a lousy paper tag that's not even printed, it doesn't have your name on it or cabin #? But yet he's expecting a tip. Inside was so unorganized some people were getting frustrated. The staff just doesn't have it all together. Inside the ship is horrible and OLD. Guest relations is actually called customer service, however the ladies were very nice and I had no issues with them. The cabin was an ocean view and it was a typical cabin. It was okay but one of the pillowcases had blood on them and housekeeping swapped it out really fast. Housekeeping normally would introduce themselves and that didn't happen. We had to ask for towels since those were very limited. The buffet was disgusting and smelled awful. The silverware was dirty, the cups smelled really bad. The seats were in horrible condition. There were about 4 selections to eat from for lunch and dinner besides the salad bar. Each island had the same food on each side. There was a pasta station...never ate there. They did have a grill by the pool and an ice cream machine which was horrible. I've never been so disgusted with a buffet ever! For dinner at the main dining room you don't have assigned seating which sucks because you can get placed with random people which in our case that happened, however I wasn't having it so I spoke with the restaurant Manager and he quickly took us over to the Admiral restaurant and we were accommodated there. This restaurant was okay and of course was way better than the buffet. The restaurant Manager there was very nice and attentive. The pool looked like it belonged in a horror movie. They have a stage on the ship that also had showers attached to it......what in the world....This ship had things that I've never seen before. This ship does not enforce anything. During the muster drill people were on their phones. The staff didn't even count the people they had. Some people walked in after the drill was done. Like who does that? Smoking is allowed anywhere on the ship which is disgusting. Normally on any other cruise line the staff is always working and cleaning the ship, we never saw that. There were cigarette buds and food thrown all over and none of the staff cleaned anything. The gift shops were basic and overly priced. The entertainment sucked. They had 2 shows a night and they were repeats. The adult comedy show has an extra fee of $9. What!!!! You have to pay for a comedy show? And on top of that the comedian was walking around the ship trying to sell these tickets himself! The casino was very small and we almost witnessed a fight with a young woman and an elderly woman. You had teens walking around the ship with boom boxes. Kids running around everywhere taking the elevator with strangers and the parents no where to be found. This cruise line is beyond low class and should close indefinitely. Read Less

I paid 17k for the two bedroom family suite and received the most horrible service I have ever received on a cruise ship. We are frequent cruisers (over 120 days at sea) but this was our first and only Royal Caribbean. Embarkation went smoothly. It was nice to be met and checked in by someone with an Ipad but i am not fond of having to wait till my room is ready to get my cabin key. This limits your initial access to suite guest only sections (your key is what opens the door) and makes taking advantage of your beverage package difficult. The 2 bedroom family suite is nothing fantastic or over the top. Basically two standard cabins made into one. Nice to have the whole family in one suite but def no luxury for the price. PRETTY BASIC One of the two bathrooms had a bathtub but the other was super tiny (like one in a lower lever cabin where shower doesn't even have a pan you stand on the actual tile floor of the bathroom) The balcony was very spacious and added a good spot for older children to hide from the younger ones. Room service had a nice assortment. Was especially nice to be able to order a whole pizza. Normally stateroom staff go out of their way to help make you comfortable and happy. This particular staff didn't seem to care one way or the other. The didn't even learn our names. Normally by day 2 the cabin steward is greeting you by name or at least remembers you special needs. When you have 8 family members in a suite 6 towels aren’t going to get it! We had to BEG BEG BEG daily for sufficient towels. One of our children become ill and when we called at 9:30 pm and asked for new linens we were RUDELY told by the lady on duty that she was alone and that it was going to be awhile we would just have to wait. There was a special section at the pool reserved for suite guests. This area had nicer chairs with comfy cushions. There was not a waiter assigned to the suite section. If we needed a drink we had to walk to the bar and wait. Our 22 month old was WALKING BACK AND FORTH in the ankle deep water at the pool (there was no kiddie pool) and we were asked to remove her from the pool because she wasn’t “toilet trained”. Keep in mind there was a group of 4 grown men in the pool drinking beer that HAD NOT GOTTEN OUT FOR OVER TWO HOURS, ONE HAS TO WONDER WHERE WERE THEY URINATING. For Royal Caribbean to feature the only two bedroom “family” suite, they ARE NOT FOND OF CHILDREN. I paid 2k for a 22 month old to be in the ship and she wasn’t welcome in the pool and if we wanted child care for any reason there was an extra charge. If they know they don’t have any services for a toddler why charge full ticket price. The one night we did use child care the workers seemed nice. They were very high pressure about scheduling child care ahead of time. It was difficult for us to know when we might need child care so after day 1 we just kept her with us. Our 6 year old was super excited to go to child care the first night (she loves being with other kids) but after being there one time she didn't want to go back. She said it was boring. We purchased the excursion to Atlantis but ended up passing up the bus ride and hired a taxi. It was just taking way to long to get everyone organized. Once we were issued bracelets for the water park we left the group. CocoCay was the highlight of the trip. We purchased a large cabana at Chill Island. The service on the island was impeccable. I truly wish we could return to this island without taking another RC cruise. I could go on and on but to sum it up DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR VALUABLE FAMILY TIME ON RC. I don't believe the price structure they use is proportional to the service they offer. I hope they spend my 17k well because it is the last they will ever see from this family of avid cruisers. I chose a cruise on Norwegian Sky from Miami to Nassau, Bahamas and Great Stirrup Cay. This was my second cruise on Norwegian - being thus, I was offered priority check in, which never happened, and was supposed to receive a bottle of wine in my stateroom, which never happened. They told me once I was in my stateroom and checked in that they only offered a bottle of wine for 4 or more day cruises. And I never got an answer as to why I didn't get priority check-in even though it was offered when I booked the cruise. Why don't they share that information PRIOR to checkin when I booked my cruise? Here are my thoughts about this lackluster cruise line and this very mediocre cruise: 1. Watered-down alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Poor carbonation in all soft drinks. 2. Juice in buffet has sugar substitute in it - would have been lovely if they let consumers know somewhere on the machine. 3. Broken outlet falling out of the wall in the stateroom bathroom. 4. No soap in stateroom bathroom and watered-down shampoo and body wash in shower. 5. Noise level was appauling in staterooms. Never a moment of peace and quiet, and guests next door partying as if they were the last human beings on earth. 6. Great Stirrup Cay - Norwegian's private island - you have to bring your own towels from the ship, the island is dirty, incredibly high priced shore excursions that are not worth the money. If you lose one of your 2 towels, Norwegian bills you $25. This is an outrage. 7. Nassau, Bahamas - similarly, incredibly high priced shore excursions that are not worth it. Be careful to check your bag after purchasing anything at the Straw Market. I purchased a bracelet at one of the stalls, and the saleswoman never put it in my bag even though I paid for it. Taxi cabs will rip off any tourist - just be prepared to be financially raped in the Bahamas. 8. Good luck eating at the Great Outdoors buffet and not having your uneaten food taken off the table the moment you get up to grab a drink for your dinner. Staff in the buffet are disturbingly excited to clean off the tables the moment a guest gets up. If you think you will return to your table with your food there, dream on. It is quite amazing that the staff on the ship were not helpful or communicative about how to disembark for shore excursions or to leave the ship at the end of the cruise, yet they are curiously excited to destroy your peaceful dinner by clearing the table BEFORE YOU HAVE EVEN STARTED TO EAT YOUR DINNER. 9. Palace dining room is one of the worst places I have ever dined. Food is bland, wine is unimpressive, wait staff are not attentive - unlike those crazy staff cleaning off the tables in the buffet. 10. Art auction was a joke. They give you 3 post-it notes with your number to put on any painting you would like to bid on. All of the paintings I was interested in were not put into their auction, even though there were no more than 15 people at the auction. The auctioneer chooses which ones HE wanted to try to sell - all lackluster artists, very unimpressive. Read Less

My husband won a cruise from the casino. My husband play the tables and is very good at it. Our family call it his part time job, however he calls it fun. We cruise every other year on Royal Caribbean and when we received the cruise as a gift we took a chance. First we upgraded the room etc. which cost over $2500.00. I cant live in an interior room on any cruise line. We left from New york $300.00 pier parking arrived @ 10 am. The pier was packed because of other events which was an inconvenience because we were left to look for other parking garages. None the less we were excited to get away. The Dawn was filthy, unable to capture the views because the windows were dirty/cloudy etc. The toilets kept getting backed up. The casino had no air condition, can you imagine smoke and no air. The crew didn't provide any pleasantries. The crew didn't thank you, smile and the dining room staff including the specialty restaurants were RUDE. The entertainment I would give 1 star same group of people doing something. The ship doesn't have many activities, trivia hosted by people who barely spoke English. There's nothing to do on the ship, not a slide, hang glide, bumper car, Broadway show. They have 1 pool for over 20000 guest which is deceptive in depth, too deep. The pool claim to be 6ft well over, my husband is 6'3 water well over his head. I couldn't wait to get off of this ship. Their private island is awful nothing to do there except to look at Royal Caribbean Island which had a slide and plenty of activities. I was so disappointed when we took our shore excursion to Atlantis we started to cut our losses and stay at Atlantis and fly back to New york and get our car. The bed was slat with a dip in it, mattress need to be replaced. I had to keep calling to housekeeping to have someone change the sheets. Read Less

I don't even know where to start!!! I have been spoiled by Disney cruises and now that my daughter feels she is too "old" to travel Disney we choose Carnival out Charleston, SC Cons: 1. Don't book/pay for ANYTHING in advance prior to getting on the ship. Trust me you will have to fight/dispute charges later, so just pay when you get there. 2. Don't bother to reserve arrival/boarding time or pay for parking in advance because regardless if you pay in advance, or choose a boarding time, it is first come first serve. We waited in line for 1 hour 25 minutes just to park! 3. Be prepared to park your car and then take a van/bus to the boat!!! Crazy! 4. Be prepared to hike up 3 levels of ramp prior to getting on the boat. 5. Please, please....BRING YOUR OWN SEASONING!!! The food is soooooo bland!!! 6. Bring your own soda and water. The drinks provided for "free" are HORRIBLE!!!! 7. Not much to do on the ship. Most of the activities weren't too engaging and didn't cater to the vast mix of ethnicities on the boat. 8. Speciality restaurants are a JOKE!!! The Fahrenheit 555 had the worst view. I can't tell you have many times I tried to avoid looking out at the life boats while eating, but it was the only view they had to offer! They took forever to serve the food. And cruising is supposed to be an opportunity to taste different types of food. Be prepared to only select 1 option from the starter, main and dessert menus. You can't try additional items. The price of the steakhouse on the Carnival cruise is about the same price as the Disney Palo, and trust me, you will leave the Disney restaurant stuffed from the vast amount of options you get to choose from. 9. If you purchase the "Bubbly" soda package, be prepared to be treated as less than! The servers know that a can of soda more than likely won't come with a tip, so that take their sweet time making your drink. If you don't watch them, they will serve you left over soda from previous cans, so ask for ice and the entire can and pour it yourself. After all, you are paying $40+ for soda if on a 4 day cruise. 10. The absolute worst was getting off the boat. They tell you to sit in the Liquid Lounge and line up your luggage because this is the only way to depart the ship. While you are waiting the entire remaining passengers on the ship are upstairs getting off the boat without lining up. So we sat in the Liquid Lounge for NOTHING!! 11. Be prepared to take a 10-15 min ride to the Princess Cay beach. NOTHING about this ship is just one-stop. Everything requires a bus, van or boat to get to the next point of interest. 12. I learned they don't drain the pool every night. By the 2nd afternoon the water was so murky that I didn't allow my daughter to swim. DISGUSTING! Pros: 1. Kids Camp Ocean was great. At least from a kids point of view but they have the nerve to charge after 10pm. That is the time when most adults are up and about! Overall a terrible experience. I tried my best to be positive, but there was just nothing positive outside of getting amazing rest once I was able to adjust to the hard mattress or the lumpy couch. Katute was great at providing services for the cabin. Really nice gentleman! Will never travel with Carnival again. This was my first and last experience! Read Less
