We took our first ever cruise aboard the Disney Dream in September 2019 (no kids with us). After carefully reading many reviews of the different cruise lines and ships, we chose to sail Disney due to their reputation for health, safety, and service. We were not disappointed in the slightest bit! The Disney Dream is a beautiful ship, one of Disney's two larger ships. It was well maintained and luxurious. The food was good, service was great, and the adult-only areas were quiet and relaxing. We particularly enjoyed the spectacular sunrises from our verandah and the amazing live shows. Beauty and the Beast was a favorite. To be honest I've never been a huge Disney fanatic, but there is just something magical and novel about Disney and you really feel that magic aboard their cruise ships. We chose the 3-night cruise which was a bit short for all of the planning and logistics and work it takes to travel across the country for a cruise. But we chose this because we weren't sure if we would even like being on a cruise ship. We can't wait to return and next time will try a 5-night cruise. The only complications on our cruise was that we were unable to visit Castaway Cay. Due to the recent hurricane, they weren't yet finished repairing areas of the island that had been misplaced and damaged. We docked at Castaway Cay, but weren't able to leave the ship. I know that many of our fellow passengers were disappointed by this. From what we could see though it looked like a beautiful place and we hope to be able to return. Lastly, Nassau was NOT a lovely place at all. It's a hard pass, next time we'll just stay on the ship. The port area was dirty and all of these hustlers crowd you and hound you to get you to spend money. Very uncomfortable and unpleasant. Not very "Disney" at all. It felt unsafe. Read Less

I booked this cruise specifically to see Coco Cay after it's supposed $250 million update. The cruise was a mixed bag so to speak. Check in was a breeze, no waiting. Cabin was nicely arranged & large with 2 couches for an inside, but was NOT QUIET.Never book a promenade view room unless you don't want to sleep. I ate all the meals in the dinning room because I couldn't stand the crowds of ill mannered people at the buffet, I mean did some of these people ever see food before ?...pigs. The food in the dinning room was good, not great.I only had to wait about 10 minutes each evening for a table, but the service was a little slow. The 2 shows I saw, ice show & show with singers & dancers was very good. The ship itself is very nice, BUT CANNOT HANDLE the amount of people that it does & on my cruise it was only 3/4 full because of hurricane Dorian. Not enough elevators, both the pools too small, the adult pool was like a sardine can. The music around the pools was just so loud, do they think everybody is deaf ? Coco Cay was a BIG LETDOWN. I am not a fan of water slides or such so I stayed on the "FREE" side. The beach are is NOT GOOD, full of seaweed & not even nice to walk around, you sank into some kind of "muck". There was also a stench of sewer all around. The freshwater pool was a joke also, just a wading pool filled with bodies. There were enough chairs around the beach & pool. The food offerings were typical beach fare. Read Less

Thanks to Hurricane Dorian, what was suppose to be a seven night trip to St Maarten, St Thomas, and Coco Cay turned into a three night journey to Nassau. We were very grateful to be able to board the Harmony at all, since the date of embarkation had to be moved forward twice due to the storm and the closure of the port. The loss of life and destruction endured by the islands that were hit by Dorian weighed heavily on our minds throughout the trip. Day One Orlando The port reopened on Wednesday, the day we flew into Orlando (after rescheduling our flight twice). We stayed at the nearby Courtyard and took the shuttle back to the airport on Thursday. We were transferred to the port by Go Port, which had a wonderful staff updating their website with information regarding the port closure, reopening, and information on their shuttles. Unfortunately, I had booked the airport to port in advance, and gave updates to customer service regarding our new projected dates of embarkation. When we arrived to board the bus to the port, our reservation wasn’t showing up. The customer service reps at the airport counter told us to call customer service for help. Ok. We did, and that rep said that she had thought we had been taken to the port already the previous day. Really? The port was not even open in the morning, and no ships were coming in because the port staff needed time on Wednesday to inspect the port thoroughly before reopening. Finally we had the customer service person on the phone fix our reservation so that the customer service people at the counter who were waiting for her to do something for us, at last gave us tickets for the bus. My advice: just buy your ticket at the counter when you arrive- much simpler. We were checked in at the port by a gentleman using a handheld device who was helping out people before they made their way to the Royal customer service reps behind the counters. DH and I then went to the last check point before we were to move on to take the requisite boarding photo. I was stopped and taken aside when the lady checking her handheld device noticed that my name had been written as gibberish. She took me over to the area where they were helping passengers with problems. After ten to fifteen minutes of waiting, she handed me a card for my cabin door and told me to throw away the card that I would find on the cabin door since my name on the card she said would have that gibberish written on it. When we got to the cabin, the cards there had our names printed correctly. The guy with the handheld device had obviously written nonsense instead of my name- he should have been questioned instead of having the extra card printed. Oh, well. Other than that, embarkation was smooth. Day Two Nassau Nassau was spared from the hurricane. We walked around the shops and stopped at Señor Frog's. DH and I had visited Nassau on our honeymoon when instead of high end shops, I remember lots of tables and people hocking their wares in a flea market atmosphere. Much has changed since then- there was even a Diamonds International shop. Day Three At Sea This was our only sea day. A last chance to see the rest of the shows and try different venues for meals and snacks before time ran out. Sea days are usually the most relaxing, but with only three nights to enjoy the ship, there was no time to stop to rest. Our take on Harmony Harmony is a big, beautiful, overwhelming ship. We had a balcony cabin which had a double wide balcony due to not having a cabin immediately next door. Loved it! Very few of the cabins have this feature. We had dinner at Johnny Rockets the first night and tried breakfast there the next morning (underwhelming). The “sourdough” bread is probably Wonder bread. I don’t recommend the grilled cheese. On our sea day ,we failed to make a lunch reservation in advance, so we were turned away at Jaime’s and settled for Sabor which was very good. We went to the dining room one night on the only formal night. At the table next to us sat a guy in shorts, tank top, and flip flops. Oh, well. The Windjammer continues to improve in quality at the expense of the dining room. Loved the cakes and other wonderful delights served in Windjammer. All of the people in the Windjammer especially were friendly and bent over backwards to make sure that you enjoyed your meal. Sorrento’s Pizza was very good. Final Thoughts DH and I regret that we never got a chance to dine under the stars in the Solarium Bistro. All of our reservations were wiped clean at the start of our cruise due to the change in itinerary, sail date, and the addition of guests from a canceled cruise who joined us. We didn’t try to make a new reservation with such a limited amount of time onboard, but hope to dine there on another ship in the future. I bought a day pass to the thermal spa and enjoyed it. Only a few stations: steam, showers, sauna, and tiled chairs, with no ocean view. It was relaxing, nevertheless. All of this left us exhausted, made worse by the nightly noise we heard outside our cabin in Central Park. As opposed to the Broad Walk cabins, those in Central Park are suppose to be quieter, however, passengers walking through the park, or sitting around, literally yelled at each other instead of speaking in a normal tone, as late as one in the morning. Having security walk through the ship each night to make sure passengers are not disturbing the peace would no doubt be appreciated by those passengers who wanted a good night’s sleep. Due to the hurricane, many people canceled. The ship carried only 3077 passengers despite having some from a canceled cruise join us. The sign at Guest Services at the time of embarkation stated that the cruise was sold out and that no cabins were available. Obviously they were overwhelmed with various problems and didn’t have the time to try to upgrade people. There was always a line at Guest Services, not surprising since this was not a typical cruise. Our Cruise Critic get-together was under the required 25, and did not last long. Only a few people talked- mostly with complaints as to why we couldn’t go to Coco Cay, for example- (we could not go there because it was still closed pending an inspection in order to assess any damage). Many thanks to Royal for going through with the event despite the low turn-out. We managed to see six shows while we were onboard- both aqua shows, both ice shows, and both stage productions: Grease and Columbus. As I had noted on previous cruises, passengers were less than polite when it came to showing their appreciation to the performers in the theater. Many just got up and left at the end, without taking a moment to applaud. Come on people; yes, you are on vacation, but does that give you the right to be rude? Everyone works really hard to make this cruise a great experience for you, show some love. Another observation I made was that many of my fellow passengers were down right slobs. DH and I decided to enjoy one game of mini golf- only to find the bin containing the balls empty. Did someone steal all the golf balls? No, I found them strewn about the entire course, along with discarded golf clubs, and even drink glasses. Again, you are on vacation, but do you have to be so crass? Three nights is too short a time period to enjoy a ship this large. I never got a chance to just relax- a first for me on a cruise and hopefully something that won’t happen again. I also lost my connection to the sea on this ship. There were few places to stand and just enjoy being in the middle of the ocean. Too much emphasis is placed on entertainment and the “wow” factor. If you want lots of choices in everything, this is the ship for you; if however, you want to enjoy a nightly walk under the stars listening to the ocean as you sail along, you might not enjoy traveling on a ship this large. I’m glad I finally got to experience Harmony of the Seas. Next time around, I will be traveling on a slightly smaller ship, for a longer period of time. Hopefully I will be able to reconnect with the sea and finally have time to relax. Read Less

I booked 2 rooms, first time sailing with Norwegian, as our Carnival cruise was cancelled for weather.(sailed many times just not with Norwegian). Got to port and parking lot was full, had to lug bags 2 terminals away. Our Names weren’t on main manifest which we knew due to a late booking because of our cruise cancellation, the lady on the phone said we’d be on the updated manifest. We weren’t(after waiting through security just to get to them). We were escorted to the check in counter and final got our cabin numbers wrote on our boarding pass. Went through security AGAIN after finally checking our luggage. Went to check in to create our sail cards, our cabin was already checked into. Explained our luggage was going to the room they wrote on the boarding pass, Was told a supervisor would be notified so our luggage went to the correct room. Got on the ship, went to guest services and waited a long time(first day of cruise lines) per the suggestion of the guy checking us in just to make them aware, they too said they’d let a supervisor know. Luggage never showed up, we found it in the hallway of the wrong room they erroneously gave us. Meanwhile st the second room I booked, my mother’s luggage was delivered by a vacationer who had gotten it and was also looking for their luggage hoping it showed up to my mother’s room. My stepdad didn’t get his luggage it was delivered to wrong floor (foot 8 and we were on 9) until that night, they also got different luggage for another room and had to take to guest services and wait in that horrible line again. Not a fun time. The health questionnaire is a joke, there was a woman at the buffet sick and hacking everywhere, her whole group was telling her to feel better and get some rest. My fiancé got a horrible bug on the last day of the cruise and is still sick 5 days later. This was a birthday present for my mother’s 50th birthday and her first cruise ever and it started off pretty bad. The only thing that would truly make me book with Norwegian again is their housekeepers. Ours name was Gabriel and he was AMAZING, gave us tips for the ship and suggestions. Kept everything soooo clean! Was very accommodating. Kudos to him!!! Embarkation was seamless, we walked our luggage off, easy. Excursion was awesome, easy process too. Also in Key West I love how Norwegian had their own shuttles to take you to and from the main areas. Read Less

Our house keeper Gabriel ensured our cabin is clean and ready to use. Melvin made our drinks on point. Our Children care personnel always had a program for the kids allowing parents to enjoy a moment without Children. Sailing was very smooth good job to the Ship Captains. Boarding the ship was very well organized. Entertainment for all ages was plentiful. Security when embarking and while on board was on point! All staff came from different backgrounds and individual staff had a name tag and a flag representing their country of origin. Good job Norwegian ship for hiring a diversified staff from all over the world. Safety equipments were readily accessible both in the cabins and in common areas making every one on board feel safe. My overall experience, I WOULD DO IT AGAIN!! Read Less

This was the BEST cruise I have ever been on!! All of the staff were exceptional and really helpful. We had lots of fun, saw and embarked on many different adventures, food was EXCELLENT in all of the restaurants and getting on and off the ship was easy as could be. Norwegian is the best cruise for the best price!! We had the BEST service on deck by the pool (Kevin Remy & Felipe), the best cabin steward (Gabriel), and we had a host of wonderful waiters and waitresses while dining. Both Crossings and The Palace restaurants offered amazing food and desserts and we were very well taken care of during our dining experiences. Our waiter Deyan was one of our favorites. We thoroughly enjoyed the buffet style breakfasts and the hours that the breakfast was available made it easy to eat breakfast anytime. While at the pool, we had a thoroughly attentive lifeguard (Dragan) who let nothing get past him. He was very helpful, attentive and carried on a conversation with the swimmers. He was VERY good with the smaller children who were swimming in the pool and sitting in the hot tubs. I have been on several other cruise lines and this was my first experience with Norwegian, but it will NOT be my last. I won't book with anyone but Norwegian again!! :) Read Less

Yes it was a great price for a suite with other spiffs thrown in. However, Dorian did cause issues. Were were not contacted with final details until 6pm the day before the cruise. Had to be at Jacksonville port between 2 and 6 pm. We would park at Jacksonville port and take a 2.5 hour bus ride port carnival and the cruise would end at Jacksonville port. Okay, not a major deal for us because we were driving. This is our second experience with Carnival not able to handle some bumps in the road during embarkation and disembarkation. We arrived at 1:30pm busses waiting. It’s 95 degrees and outside. It’s was a ridiculous wait. Had several empty busses just sitting there waiting to be loading. You had port security checking boarding passes and Id ( why I have no idea why ....we never entered the port and carnival was checking boarding passes and Id). Obvious no preplanning and no one actually in charge. Busses hold 50 people and carnival staff were trying to figure out how to load the busses. The boat is dated which we expected. Our balcony cabinet was clean and had plenty of room. Had no issues with cabin or steward. Ships’s staff was generally courtesy and helpful on the cruise. Food was below average. The only good meals served were breakfast and guys hamburgers. The buffet served the same meals for lunch and dinner. For three days they served roast beef or prime rib.(I could not identify by looking at it). They served cold baked ham the last day and 2 inch size pieces of fried chicken with little meat and mostly bones. Myself and other cruisers could not determine what part of the chicken they came from. The food in the dining room was boring. Nothing but average diner type selections. The pizza on Carnival is usually good..but not on the Ectasy. The pizza had a little sauce and some cheese and whatever topping you wanted. Pizza was dry. The deli....well I can’t give it more than a two. I ordered a BLT. It was served on sourdough bread. The bread was so tough..it was like biting into a piece of leather. The ship’s design blocks any head winds on the outside decks. If you are at the pool level you will not feel any breeze at all. If you are on the level above the pool area you will not feel any breeze at all. You have to be at the front to the ship to get any kind of breeze. This design does not go well with 95 degree weather. If you outside and not in the pool you will be roasting. The only things that worked great were the bartenders and disembarkation. We were off the ship at 8:30. I don’t recommend this cruise. Read Less

My wife and I chose this ship, because we love the Oasis class. Unfortunately they didn't raise the bar. The cabin was great. They made the balcony bigger, but at the expense of the tub. I am just under 6 feet tall, and they mad the tub so narrow I couldn't stand in it without my feet being curved. It actually hurt to take a shower. The final day I had to stand with my feet together to take a shower. Also, the partial glass screen on the tub, is not attached. I almost did a header and fell out of the tub the fist time trying to get comfortable. Be careful . The public restroom was another miss, with a tall , small urinal. Again I am just under 6 feet tall, and I had to stand on my tiptoes to use the urinal. What were they thinking. Lets make a urinal that only 6 foot 6' people or taller can use. There were many puddles on the floor, and that's all I'll say. Then there was the food. Is it me, or is RCL buying cheaper and cheaper food? The food was terrible. I took a chance and tried a specialty restaurant, when the Coastal Kitchen had absolutely nothing on the Menu that night that my wife or I could stand. I paid extra to stay in the Junior Suite so I could eat there, and it was disappointing . I have had nothing but bad luck trying RCL's specialty restaurants. Trust me, there's nothing Special about them. My last cruise was on the Independence of the seas, and my wife and I tried the Specialty restaurant plan. What a waste of money. 2-3 hour waits. Rude service. The couple next to me complained, and was berated by the waiter. Awful food. We tried to cancel after the 3rd try, but was told we couldn't get a refund. We didn't care and lost the rest of our money. On the Symphony I tried Hooked. It was terrible. The service was fast and friendly, but I just couldn't stomach it. They started me off with this cheese biscuit. It was old, hard and had no taste. Then I was brought a crab and clam chowder. I was half way done, when I bit into something that sounded like either a shell or glass. I tried another bite with the same result, but found what I hoped was a shell. I stopped eating it. Then they brought me my shrimp cocktail, and it smelled funny almost like bleach. That was enough. I stopped and called over the waitress and told her I couldn't eat here and wanted a refund. I was then made to repeat everything 2 more times and grilled by the chef, but got the refund. The food is getting worse every year on RCL. So much so, That I am not going on another RCL cruise. Even the trusted pizza at Sorrento's was bad.I am now going on their sister company Celebrity , because the food is supposed to be a lot better , and they have a NON-SMOKING CASINO!!!. You can smell the smoke within 20 feet of the casino entrance. It's really bad, and they have a new drink policy that's horrible. If you earn 2400 points in a year you get free drinks in the casino. Now you can only get 1 drink every 10 minutes. Also the one staff complaint was that this was the only RCL cruise I've been on, where the bartenders were rude. The bar was open a few minutes before the casino and they were serving drinks. I went to the counter and asked for a drink, and they berated me, and told me I had to wait for the casino to open. When the casino opened, I went up to the counter again to ask for a drink, and the Bartender snapped at me that I had to wait until the casino was open. I pointed out to him that it was, He didn't believe me. I then pointed to people , right in front of us playing the slots, and all he said was "Oh'. then got my drink. Also I was ignored a lot by the Bartenders because I was Prime (Free Drinks), and I didn't have to pay for my drinks, and I guess there would rather wait on paying customers. I was ignored several times a day. It was really frustrating . It's like the new policy was invented to prevent you from wanting to get a drink. Well it worked. I usually lose a lot of money in the casino to get the points for the free drinks, and this is there new way of saying thanks? They really should have someone that is/was a guest to check out their designs, new policies and food before implementing them on new ships, that way they could avoid all these mistakes . RCL , Please upgrade the food. It's really bad when Kraft Mac & Cheese is 10X better than yours. On the good note, was the service. As usual the service was excellent. I have no complaints at all, except the Bartenders in the Casino. My room steward did a fantastic job, as so did the wait staff in the restaurants. I thought the Independence of the Seas was my least favorite ship, but Symphony comes very close. Hopefully they will see this, and improve everything, but i doubt it. Read Less

This cruise was a little different than my previous cruise, for several reasons. First, Charleston was being evacuated the day we were scheduled to sail due to Hurricane Dorian. We had notice that Half Moon Cay would be removed from the itinerary the day before we left, which was disappointing but understandable. Because of the evacuation, my husband and I decided to leave and head to Charleston a day early to be able to beat the traffic and the road closures and re-routes. Unfortunately, we decided that at 9:30 pm the night before the cruise, so we got to Charleston at about 1 am, got booked at a hotel, slept, and then headed to the port Monday morning. The cruise opened arrival early because of the evacuation and delayed the departure, so we really got a full day on the ship that first day-- we were on by 10 and didn't leave the port until 6. We sped east to move around the hurricane. While it was SUPER rocky due to the speed, and I did get queasy and seasick and had to lie down, we never felt unsafe. The cruise overall was really great. Beautiful weather, great communication from the cruise director about our ports and Charleston, the ship was well-equipped with lots of new features for us (our previous cruise was on a smaller ship), and a wonderful excursion in Nassau. Our steward was really great-- always available, and always had our room ready after dinner (we like evening turndown), but never obtrusive in the way it can sometimes feel. The dining room staff was awesome. Putra and his team are amazing. Read Less

First thing embarkation. Out of Charleston, SC was super easy no long lines and on and in the ship without faster to the fun. Hint- Deck 5 has BBQ that was awesome and we avoided the crazy Lido deck before leaving. Muster Drill- Is what it is. James made it fun when we got to the area. Just do it and get it over with. Dinner-food was above average in dinning room. JIJI and Bonzai Sushi was the best food on the ship 5/5. The steakhouse had a horrible hostess made us not go back. The steak was only okay but for $38.00 you get enough food to make up for it. Entertainment-all the shows were nice and the comedians were really funny. Bars- Inside bars are the best and can make any drink. Serenity deck could only do basic drinks and frozen stuff. Great cruise and will do it again in the future. Highly recommend. Read Less

We originally chose this cruise as a Cuba & Key West itinerary with a stop at Great Stirrup Cay. Our itinerary changed several times (including even as we were aboard the ship because of Hurricane Dorian) and I was frustrated that the cruise was still departing even with the storm looming but in the end the weather was pretty fantastic and we still got a chance to stop at Key West. Our family was very impressed at the cleanliness of the ship and the service throughout was fantastic. My favorite band by far was the Iguana Duo (I went to listen to them nearly every night) but many of the other acts on the ship were underwhelming. I loved the drinks at the Sugarcane Mojito Bar but found the bartenders there to be particularly unfriendly and inattentive. Aside from that, the cruise staff in restaurants and throughout were always friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the food overall and did not partake in any of the specialty dining but I would have expected the food in the main dining rooms to be more than just average catering hall quality. I did not participate in many of the ship's activities but found the bingo game to be drawn out and boring. I was surprised to find that the fitness center had such outdated weight equipment (mainly the limited dumbbells and no barbells or kettlebells). We did not book any of our excursions through the ship as it seemed that better value was found making plans on our own. The ship photo gallery was offensively overpriced--next time, we will not bother buying the professional photos. Overall, I enjoyed the cruise and will be going on another Norwegian cruise next year but am hoping to find better food (and a better gym) and more consistent entertainment on the next ship. We planned our trip along with my brother and his wife who were celebrating their 51st anniversary. well the weather didn't cooperate as hurricane dorian caused a change in itinerary which was unavoidable however when we booked our choices we picked premium bar package and paid the gratuity that goes with it $58.00. The cruise line because of the changes gave everyone free open bar and did not take away the gratuity we were charged and the explanation we received was we were getting top shelf and cruisers who got the free open bar were not. we were only given the top shelf the last two days after the fact. NCL refunded a port charge of $45.00 each. overall we made the best of the trip food was really very good entertainment was excellent one problem was our room was very hot and they had trouble getting the a/c in the room to do a good job. My wife had a minor injury the day of boarding she tripped over a bump in the gangplank fell and cut her arm and leg as well as a bruised knee kind of ruined the first day. but we will most likely cruise with NCL again as we both very much . the buffet was enjoyed freestyle dining and casual attire in the dining room. the selections in the buffet were limited in comparison to other ships we have cruised on. below I have given shore excursions poor because of the situation of changing itinerary no time to really plan our waiter was named andreas and his coworker were excellent they were attentive funny and made sure we were happy with our food. when we would ask for them the maitre'd even made him available by reassigning them from what they were doing and making them available for our meals cudos to the staff in the dining room. When we sailed on the Norwegian Sky, in August, Hurricane Dorian was on its way through the Bahamas and our cruise had a change of itinerary. Instead of going to the Bahamas we went to Cozumel and Key West. We were just happy to be on vacation so the change of itinerary didn't affect our excitement about the trip. The cruise was fabulous, the ship was clean and beautiful. There was plenty to do on the ship. The pool was not as hard to enjoy as another small ship we've been on, there was always a chair and room in the pool. We enjoyed the nightly shows as well as some of the game shows in the bliss lounge. We played Deal or No Deal in the Stardust theater daily....and WON! We also won a small chunk in the beautiful casino. The ports, although changed, were still great. We enjoyed the food and the drinks in all of the restaurants. I was probably most amazed by the fact that the staff was super quick and efficient during embarkation and disembarkation both at the beginning and the end of the cruise as well as at the ports. There was little or no wait to embark/disembark. We can't wait to go again. Read Less

Our cruise experience was doomed from the start. About a week before our cruise hurricane Dorian started forming. As our sale date approached we kept a close eye on the projected path and Carnival‘s website. As it became clear that hurricane Dorian was going to affect the Bahamas we regularly checked in to make sure that our sailing was still happening and we were going to be going to our ports. Our first day on board was relatively OK. We had clear skies and the lunch buffet was actually really good. That’s the only positive statement I have for the entire cruise. Dinner time rolls around and the dining room was horrible. The bread was under baked . Both my steak and their signature dessert (melting cake)was over cooked. The first night the boat was extremely rough. I had hoped that that would be the only rough seas we would experience. Day two was a day at sea. About halfway through the day the captain comes on and informs us that we were not going to make it to princess Cay and that the port will be substituted with a trip to Key West for a half a day. Key West was OK but definitely not the Bahamas. I had hoped to find a beach only to find out that Key West does not offer beaches. While in Key West my sister calls me and informs me that the Carnival corporate website has updated stating that our trip to Nassau for the next day has now been canceled. We went to the service desk and asked what port we would be going to instead of Nassau. Mind you Nassau was the whole reason we booked this cruise. Absolutely love going to Aquaventure at Atlantis. So we were very disappointed to find out that we were not gonna make it to Atlantis. The service desk denied that the port had been canceled and told us that they couldn’t speak to what their corporate website said. They lied to us. As the ship pulled away from Key West the captain came on and informed us that our trip to Nassau had been canceled and no other ports were available so we were going to be getting a third day at sea. I booked a cruise to the Bahamas ! Not a cruise to float at sea for four days and get a half day in Key West. On top of being stuck on that boat our captain insisted on finding every possible patch of rough seas possible. I couldn’t sleep at night because the boat was rocking so bad. Pool lost half of its water from spilling over hitting waves. And the Lido deck buffet we sat there and watch plates fly across the floor. On our final day at sea the captain informed us that there was a chance we would not be able to return to Jaxport on Thursday. The plan initially was to spend an extra day at sea until the port reopened. Dinner time on our last night at sea the captain comes on to inform us that we will be docking in Port Canaveral and receiving shuttle bus rides back to Jacksonville. It’s really sad when we arrived at port Canaveral customs and border protection waived us on through saying we didn’t take a cruise to anywhere so we did not have to declare anything. Our cruise director found it funny to joke about how we were on a cruise to somewhere but he didn’t know where. Carnival really let us down. They should have canceled our sailing knowing that they were not going to be enough ports available to substitute adequately. But they wanted their money. To add insult to injury the whole reason they docked us in Port Canaveral was so that they wouldn’t have to delay their next sailing. I called the customer service line after we got home and they refused offer us any compensation. I always knew in the contract that they could change ports but I never expected them to treat us so poorly. So our beautiful beach vacation to the Bahamas turned into a week of rough seas, never seeing a beach, and never putting on our bathing suits. We took a cruise nowhere and didn’t even make it back to our original destination. At this point I will never cruise with Carnival again. Read Less

I have been on 3 Carnival Cruises and my wife has been on nearly 10 of them and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had on a cruise. First, I realize that we cannot control the weather but as another person included in their review, our itinerary remained unchanged until late Sunday evening when we were informed we would be going to Key West instead of Princess Kay. No big deal, but then we spent the rest of the cruise on the damn boat. No other ports that we could go to so we spent 4 1/2 days at sea of a five day cruise. Secondly, I will echo another reviewer in stating that the Captain continuously placed us at risk by getting too close to the hurricane. Although the status of our location said we were safely away from the hurricane, there were more than two instances in which the ship was sailed into the green area of the hurricane. On Tuesday morning at 2:00, the ship was rocking so bad from the waves that it literally caused my wife and I to roll in the bed. It kept us up all night, not to mention the kids that were in the room next to us. Sounded like construction going on all night long. Went to guest services, they apologized and said if it continued to let them know. Well guess what, it continued. We called guest services and were placed on hold waiting for someone to answer. And this was at 1:00 in the morning. Still nothing done. There was a strong sewage smell that stayed the entire cruise. We could smell it in our bathroom, down the hallway, on the Lido deck, practically everywhere. The explanation we received was that it was "Sea Water". Sorry, but the only place it smelled like that was actually on the boat. So back to the rough waters of travel. On Wednesday (last day at sea), the waters were so rough that dinnerware was sliding on the tables, deck chairs were sliding on the decks, and chips fell over in the casino at the table I was at. But we were continuously reassured that all was safe. Each day, the Cruise Director and Captain held a Q&A session regarding the status of the cruise and the hurricane. Once we were informed that we would not be going to any other ports after Key West, we were told they were going to add a lot of entertainment on the ship to make up for the missed time from our destinations. If you consider adding trivia games and back/arthritis seminars as added entertainment, then you have different expectations of what entertainment is than I do. One of my biggest complaints of all is the fact that while we were at sea, they never made an announcement or sent a letter to our stateroom to inform us that they provided all the passengers free WiFi so that we could contact our families to let them know we were alright. We found that out from other guests who were at our dining table. Piling on with some of the other reviews on here, we arrived to Port Canaveral and was sent on a charter bus for two hours to the Jacksonville Port after being told multiple times that they were going to extend the cruise until the Port was open. In conclusion, I called Carnival Customer Service today and inquired what they were going to do to satisfy our complaint. I was informed that when we booked, we signed a disclosure that stated Carnival reserves the right to alter the cruise itinerary at their discretion and would not be offering any reimbursement of credit for this cruise. Ultimately, Carnival said screw all of the unhappy guests with the decisions that they made and we are going to keep your money for a cruise that did not reach one destination on the itinerary (Key West was not on the original itinerary), offered nothing more than an apology for the inconvenience, and couldn't care less about the members who have CHOSEN their cruise line. We were planning on taking a family cruise for our family's 10 year anniversary next year but you can rest assured it won't be with Carnival Cruise. Their Customer Service can now be ranked up there with AT&T and Comcast. Read Less

NCL had been my favorite cruise line until 8/31/19. It had nothing to do with Hurricane Dorian; they changed our itinerary to Key West and Cozumel. The ship was smoothly sailing but I paid more to get the beverage package perk. But they decided to give EVERYBODY on the ship that even though they didn’t pay for it. This was great except they didn’t get us any other perk for free or give me a refund. No one had to show their sign and sail card. I am also a red wine drinker and they told me the only wine available was the house wine and it was horrible. Tasted like it had been in a hot place or something. It had turned bad. I asked for Merlot to Cabernet to Pinot Noir and someone suggested the Malbec. I couldn’t even sip it. It was that bad. But to make matters worst, the only compensation they offered me was free water (6pack) after I complained that a bartender told me I had to pay for bottle water even though I was told at the information desk as soon as I inquired once on the ship, that bottle water and soda came free at the bars which is suppose to be free anyway. They could have offered me the dining package or something to make up for the fact they were giving free drinks to everyone on board. I even suggested it or at least give me a refund since I paid more to have it. That would have made it better. When you go on the NCL website, the sail away rate is much cheaper than the ones that gives the perks so I paid much more plus when you choose the beverage package you pay an extra fee; I think it’s for the gratuities of that package. Also, the food selection was horrible. On the top deck/buffet you hamburgers, hotdogs and chicken drumsticks and pasta that tasted like the noodles were not cooked fully for both lunch and dinner. The pizza they offered at lunch time and late evening was good if you caught it straight from the oven but otherwise, it tasted like cardboard. The main dining room didn’t even offer a shrimp or shrimp cocktail not to mention no lobster on the menu. I just ordered a steak except for one night I ordered baked fish but it wasn’t very good. There just wasn’t anything really good to choose from. This was my 24th cruise and I’ve always looked forward to the dining experience. The dining room was called the Palace. We ate breakfast there for breakfast every morning except for debarkation day. The breakfast was very good there; both in the Palace and at the buffet on top deck. The table settings were not complete, though in the Palace. I had to ask for salt and pepper and butter on numerous occasions. We ate dinner all but one night in the Main Dining Room; the Palace. One night the main dining menu was so bad that me and my husband looked at each other like WTW. NCL really let me down on this one and we went on the Sky a few years ago and it wasn’t like this nor was the Getaway in 2017. I don’t know if I can ever trust NCL again. I didn’t go to any of the specialty dining rooms this cruise. Our budget was tighter this sailing. I didn’t think I should have to in order to eat a variety of food or even good food. The beans on the buffet were even hard. I can say however, that every time I go back on ships of different cruise lines from time to time, they’ve changed things. I all in for change that makes things better but this was not the case with this ship. In spite of the food and wine, we did manage to have a good time. We love Cozumel and the Carlos And Charlie’s Beach is worth checking out. Read Less

I was really excited to be on the biggest and newest cruise ship on Royal Caribbean. This was also my first time on Royal Caribbean even though I've been on many other vessels such as Carnival and Norwegian. Pros: it is beautiful and enormous with many extravagant shows that are worth watching and very entertaining. The room is really nice and spacious as well as the bathrooms. Bar Service: bought the unlimited drinking package and definitely got my moneys worth but service was probably the worst. Quite a few times I've had to wait 30 minutes for a drink. Many bartenders would not even make eye contact with me to ask for a drink. I at times had to try and get their attention (not ideal and quite embarrassing). It wasn't at all bars though. The specific one that had the worst service was at Playmakers sports bar. Justin was the one that served me and many of my family members with mediocre service. Quite rude and intentionally ignored all of us. Pro: There was one server, named Greedep at Playmakers who was amazing! Service exceeded my expectations and food came on time. Very kind and welcoming. Pro tip: Go to Schooners bar and you will def get a good drink with good service as well. Best cosmos there! Main Dining Room: did not exceed my expectations. Felt very crowded and food was just okay. Everything was subpar except for service which was excellent. Overall the cruise was fun, lots of activities to do. For the adults, definitely recommend lounging at the solarium where it is relaxing with huge bath pools/jacuzzis. Read Less

Terrible. Crusty ship. Brown water from bathroom sink. Captain was terrible and kept Sailing up into the bottom of the hurricane causing us to have an unnecessary rough ride. He would find the roughest seas at night so that no one could sleep from the rocking. We were lied to from the get go. They should have canceled the cruise because of the hurricane but they are too money hungry. They kept saying no change to itinerary so that we weren’t able to cancel or change dates without penalty. We didn’t end up going to any ports except lame Key West for only a few hours and there wasn’t enough time to do anything. And to top it all off they refuse to reimburse any money or make it right in any way. They were basically just like oh well too bad. So we paid full price for a trip we didn’t get to take. Didn’t see a beach once. And they also said that if the port to return home was closed they would stay out to sea until it opened.. more lies. They dumped us off at Port Canerval and made us take a 2&1/2 hour bus ride to Jax. NEVER cruising with Carnival again. It’s the sucky low end of cruise ships anyways. Choose a different line. I have wanted to experience a cruise on the largest cruise ship in the world. Symphony of the Seas had planned a couple short voyages that fit the bill. I was able to book August 31, 2019 - September 3, 2019 and not miss a day of work (off on Tuesdays and Fridays and this Monday was a holiday). Perfect! Then in the few days preceding this cruise, tropical storm Dorian became Hurricane Dorian. We were to depart Miami Saturday August 31st, spend Sunday September 1st in Nassau, a day at sea, then home. Many ships were having changes made to their schedule as the storm grew stronger. At 10pm Thursday I packed late, checked the RCCL website at 1am and saw my cruise was eliminated since the extended the August 24th cruise until Sept 4th. I cancelled my airline reservations just after that post. With an overwhelming feeling of disappointment, I went to sleep. By morning, to confirm this really happened, I looked at the website and to my surprise, no listing for my cruise. I called the helplines at RCCL. They found nothing. Luckily I screenshot the website and had it to email the representative. For 90 minutes he searched while I was on hold. Finally I got a text message with word the ship we depart early and be extended a day. I knew before the rep did! RCCL did an amazing job. I rebooked a new trip at the last minute (paying way too much) but I made it there. Embarkation: WOW. I handed a staff member my preprinted boarding passes, she scanned the barcode with her iPad and we walked to the ship. The keys are waiting for you at 1pm in your cabin door mail slot. We didn't much more than pause our walk to get scanned and we were on the ship in 10 minutes. NO WAY could this be easier or better. We went to Boleros to buy the WOW band. It was $5 and cool to have. It worked great as cabin door key, it was OK as a way to pay for drinks. Sometimes I just chose to use the card as it was easier to hand over. The readers in the bars worked ok most of the time but of course walking servers do not carry readers. Grabbed a Mojito to kick off the cruise by 11am. We dined for lunch at the Park Cafe - the Kummelweck roast beef sandwiches. Yes, they are as good as everyone says plus a nice custom bowl of salad. Delicious. Our room had good and bad. I am never one to complain. Room 14-577 was top of Central Park in the very front. Glad i tried it but I won't do it again. If you happen to book these neighborhood balconies, be aware that it is not like an ocean view. There is no privacy so your curtains will likely be closed all the time. Be aware that the 15th floor is the pool deck. You will hear foot stomps when kids run across that deck. While not bad at all, we did notice that. Be aware that in this cabin the ship's framing is a roofline just over your balcony so the great part is - always shady. I didn't care for keeping the key card inserted in a slot to keep lights and air on but I understand it's a good idea. Not a lot of normal TV to watch but who really cares to watch TV? The bed was extremely firm and our steward says they no longer offer the egg-crate pads, I also understand. We managed just fine. Plenty of room, plenty of storage, bigger shower than most ships too. But I will never choose 14th floor neighborhood balcony again. Oh it did include a bottle of red wine and two coke packages (refill cups). The shows? WOW. I have often thought NCL Epic had the natural win in this category but when I saw HAIRSPRAY, I loved everything about it. Then we saw FLIGHT and that was entertaining in a usual cruise ship show kind of way but well done with a mix of technology and live action. The ice show was 1977 and though I wonder what that year had to do with anything, there was excellent skating, beautiful costumes, and it all started amazing drones flying over the performance area giving us a light show. Loved it. Finally HIRO - what an amazing show. I would say that the price of the cruise was worth it just to see this show! Swimming, diving, dancing, arial performances, a lot like Cirque on overdrive. I am still blown away. Food. I would say it was good. Some of it was excellent, some just OK. I was shocked that the prime rib was just OK. I love prime rib. But the tenderloin and short ribs were outstanding. Salmon was better than OK but not the best. Lasagna was OK but not too good. I did order a beef stroganoff dish but sent it back because it was unlike any I had ever had...more like a pasta dish with a light brown garlic based gravy. Not a complainer - everything was edible and decent. But for the quantity served, it is still impressive. Early traditional seating is my choice. Always kind, if we wanted to rush to a show, they put us on fast pace. Wine was plentiful and they kept me with a drink at all times. Activity: WOW. Zip line - long wait for a short thrill but very cool to do. Abyss....long line and awesome anticipation for the thrill. Loved it - especially the que to actually get on the slide being all glass way up there. I ran out of time but would have body surfed the flowrider. Lines were not bad at all. PuttPutt was always in use and looks like fun. the court was half basketball half soccer. They all seemed to love it. I rode the carousel. It's been years since I had done that and well, it just makes me smile. Artwork. another WOW. Some cool stuff. A lot of weird things too. Loved the piano stairs. Didn't quite get the sound art and light art but OK. Plenty to see. Interactive art is always cool. The cruise director Ricky was fun. Led many street parties and works his tail off. They had a balloon drop at midnight day one, they had a Caribbean street party, an 80s party and a pirate parade. We sat in a sing along with a guitar player that was fun (crowd was a blast - singer was excellent). Saw a little piano playing in Schooner but I do tire of the same old 70s and 80s pop songs. Oh another cool thing on this ship is the stowaway piano player - he may be in an elevator (that's where we saw him) or anywhere on the ship at any time. Very cool!! Did I mention we were to be in Nassau on September 1st but Hurricane Dorian decided category 5 would just sit over the Bahamas and destroy...so RCCL sent us to Costa Maya Mexico instead. We were out of harms way, mostly in the hot sun. RCCL added a 4th day to our cruise so we had to get new airfare home but they didn't add any extra cost to our beverage package or Voom package. I think they actually gave us $50 On Board Credit too. I didn't care for Costa Maya but that's just me. I was glad to be there! We did not excursion there either. Just to add to controversy, I will tell you that in my opinion, all cruises should be non-smoking. I won't go in to a casino so long as there is smoking - so I didn't even visit it on this trip. Celebrity has no-smoking in their casinos. A different vibe for those of us that don't like the smell. But to each their own and I was just fine without it. I didn't plan to buy a NextCruise certificate but I did because this was my new favorite cruise. Finally getting off the ship - WOW. We chose late as possible because our flight was 12:30pm. We got tags #69 9:00am. Teh drink package still got us premium coffee drinks for free the day of departure. We waited it our in the Cafe Promenade. When we left the ship we walked into the terminal, chose our bag from the 100 or so still left there and walked to customs. No need to even bring out a passport of fill out the declaration papers...we walked up to an iPad that took our picture, waited a few seconds, got a green check mark and we were out to the taxi line. No more than a couple minutes to get in and no more than a couple minutes to get out. Way to go RCCL and US Customs! Read Less

We are now have Platinum Status on RC so we are trying to continue growing our reward level on this RCI ships and family. We absolutely LOVED every single part of this ship! The Rooms were the largest and spacious and beautiful. The ship is immaculate, the food was excellent, and the service was awesome! I cannot tell you how pleased I was with my experience! Royal Caribbean knocked it out of the park with this Ship and this Cruise. There really were so many differences to this cruise and this ship than so many others. It was just a way different class of ship than so many others! Read Less

The ship is easy to get around, love the design of this ship.First cruise but went be the last, problem I have now is finding ship etc that lives up to this one, as I have earlier, the staff made this a fantastic experience. This trip is not for children. We had a a world class time. Don't have a single negative to report. If you are relaxed travelers who accept things positively, you will love this cruise.A fairly roomy cabin, full-size bed with a comfortable mattress and pillows, good linens, a bedside table, cushioned armchair, decent-sized closet with dresser drawers, room to store two duffels easily under the bed, sink with medicine cabinet, and two large bed-to-ceiling windows offering great light and views as we sailed. The shower and toilet were in an enclosed space, a shower curtain kept the toilet dry during showers. Toilet and showers worked perfectly with hot water and good pressure. I did not have a meal that wasn't first class. We stayed in one of the cheaper rooms as we were on a budget. The money that was saved on the cheaper room was used to purchase other items on our trip. The room was clean, and can be compared to a five star hotel with all the high end linens. Nice sized bathroom. The on-board facilities (i.e. gym, spa, and lounges) were nicely laid out and appropriate for the size of the vessel. The gym had all the state-of-the-art machines. From the minute you land to the time you are dropped off at the airport for your return, this cruise line is excellent. Read Less

Worst cruise line ever! From the very beginning... we had a leaking pipe in our room that made the carpet soaking wet and the room smelt like mildew. They told us there was nothing they could do because they were fully booked. After going to guest services 3 times at 6:30 pm they finally moved our room. Our cruise to the Bahamas was changed the day we set sail. We were suppose to go to 3 different islands in the Bahamas (why I chose this cruise line) and we ended up doing majority at sea and one island in Mexico. So the cruise was extended by a day so 3 days at sea and 2 days at Cozumel, Mexico. Very disappointing... We were double charged for the internet package $155 that is still to this day not resolved (I stood in line at guest services 3 times the day of disembarkation trying to resolve). And just to top it all off they dropped us off in New Orleans and we had to figure out how to get home back to FL. No up front compensation... we had to submit receipts after the fact to be reimbursed up to $300 per person for “travel” only. Save your money and use a different cruise line. Read Less

It was my mother's 50th birthday cruise, we had a group of approx. 34 ppl. Paulvic and Yuseph were amazing at keeping our room looking spotless. The staff was constantly cleaning so I feel like it was a sanitary environment. They even cleaned the pools nightly. My children loved camp and the staff there made me feel comfortable leaving my children with them. If a large group use walkie talkies, it helps you stay in contact. However my son's hand got crushed in the elevator frame (in between the elevator door and the wall) and Carnival is refusing to listen to me on how they can prevent this from happening to other children. THIS IS 100% PREVENTABLE ON CARNIVAL'S PART. I'm said to see that they are trying to sweep it under the rug when they can fix it. My son is terrified of elevators now. Their staff didn't even know what to do, I have pictures of the medical staff just watching in aww. Other than the safety of children the ship was good. Read Less
