I just got back from my first NCL cruise today and I definitely didn't want to wait to write this. Let me start with the pros: The ship is very clean, and it is nice. The wait and cleaning staff are nice and knowledgeable. Okay now the cons: 1. Our itinerary got changed because of the hurricane damaging one of the ports we were visiting. I know this is not NCL's fault, but the way they handled it was. Previously this happened to me on a Royal Caribbean cruise and they found another place for us to go. I understand NCL didn't have that option, so we just got a day at sea. I called them to ask about the port fees for that specific place being reimbursed, and they said they would not be. I asked for compensation some how because it didn't make sense that we were having to pay port fees for somewhere we were not going. It took me 2.5 hours on the phone multiple times to get them to give us anything. I will say they eventually upgraded us to a balcony room when we were initially in an inside cabin, but that was only because the balcony rates had dropped to what we had already paid anyway...so really they didn't give us anything. 2. We were sailing with others, and whoever upgraded their room on the phone, ended up removing their unlimited drink package without telling them. We didn't find this out until we were on the boat. This took another hour and a half on the boat to resolve!! We literally had printed out proof that we had paid for it, and they still wouldn't listen. The in person staff said they could only speak to corporate to resolve it. I told them I would wait while they called them, and they said they could only do it through email and asked me to step aside so they could help someone else. I asked how long it would take through email and they said they could not give me an estimated time. The guy I was talking to said I could call corporate, so I did, right there in front of him. When I finally got corporate to realize what THEY did, he said he couldnt talk to to them over the phone. I asked why he told me to call then and he just shrugged. This was a terrible start to the cruise. 3. When they finally heard through email from corporate, we went back to get our cards reprinted with the drink package on it, and there was a couple in front of us dealing with the same situation and they were on their second hour of standing there! 4. Royal Caribbean's food is way better 5. It literally took 10 minutes to get a drink, even if there was two people at the bar, and the drinks were pretty weak (and I'm not normally a drinker) 6. They didn't stick to itinerary times..like if entertainment started at 1, they would start it at 1:10 or whenever they decided to 7. The entertainment on royal is way better There's so much more I can't even remember but I had another NCL cruise booked and I came home and cancelled it immediately. Read Less

Save your money Crew and ship Appearance was very good. Pool deck Breakfast and lunch on the back of the boat. Lousy pizza and ice cream cones on pool deck midship. The restaurants were nice. Free text though disney app was excellent to communicate to other family members on the boat, castaway Cay, and Magic Kingdom. BUT... SHIP WAS ROCKING SIDE TO SIDE all the time. MANY were very motion sick. No characters roaming The ship, only 40 minute wait lines to see or take a pic with them. Hot and humid slimey water Castaway Cay island water with sea lice was nasty. You'll know it when you feel like your being bitten on top of your shoulders when you exit the water. Excursions cancelled, unknown why. Magic kingdom was 90 plus degrees with limited benches and shade. Many had to vacate the park back to the buses (1 hour ride back to the boat) the next day we all froze all the way back to New York. Nothing for adults or a 10 year to do. 10 year old told he had to be 13 to play on 3 lousy XBox games in the ships game room. That's all they had in there. It's Disneys schedule, not yours. Your just along for the ride. 4x12 shift TSA screeners are nasty to get back on the boat at the dock of Port Canaveral. Shopping from $25 coffee mug tmmmqo $13500 3 inch tall quartz figures. Be prepared to walk for miles and miles and be dizzy while your at it. All 8 of us hated the cruise. Even the 10 year old. NEVER EVER AGAIN. Read Less

First & last cruise! The ship smelled bad and was in need of a good cleaning also a good updating! They charge you gratuity before you go on cruise which to me is a bunch of crap! Customer care on the ship is a joke also most everyone who answers the phone are a joke as well!They double charged me for the drink program which I drank 15 drinks a day and never got a buzz! Must have been water in the liquor bottles! Food was horrible several rude staff members! They will not refund me my money and they will not provide me with someone higher up in the company to talk to! 2 men passed out and crew members did not care or did not know what to do! Very disturbing! The upper deck is very disappointing! The hot tubs & pools are very tiny! I could add more to this nightmare but I’m tired of typing!Maybe it was just the ship I was on but I find that hard to believe! Don’t book carnival! Read Less

I chose this cruise because it had decent reviews and a very good price, however, I would have pay more, knowing what I know now. The ship is small, that' okay, but rusted, badly painted,inside and out. I could hear the upper level while trying to sleep, jumping and people screaming in the halls. When I did try to take a nap, a Very loud noise outside my window, someone sanding! I opened the curtains and a creepy guy in goggles waved at me!! There was no sail away party as promised and the Halloween party lasted 1 hour and was horrible. The stewarts were very nice and friendly, but the bartenders and waitresses were Rude! I would say thank you, they wouldn't even say your welcome! They knew they were already tipped. The casino was small, yet took forever to get a drink, got up myself, because tired of waiting. The food was bad, been on many Carnival ships and this was low grade, unavailable and repetitive and badly timed. Smoking section was extremely limited, 1 small space away from the lido deck with no servers, or the casino, not the casino bar, just the casino, which leads you to gamble out of boredom. The elevators were never available and when you got one, they were shaky and felt unsafe. I could go on, but I am a Gold member and loved every Carnival Cruise but this one. Very very disappointed. We chose this cruise to take my 85 yr. old father-in-law to Key West, someplace he has always wanted to visit. Key West was great. Our time on board the ship not so much. The main dining room dinner food was underwhelming. The dinner service likewise. Ate in the steakhouse and it was decent. Still something to be desired from the waiter. The French restaurant was the best meal and dinner service on this ship. We also lost use of our room for a few hours while some crew members power washed our balcony and the one next to us. This was to remove the ash that was deposited from the onboard incinerator. But these are minor annoyances. Our real disappointment was with our cabin, an aft-facing mini-suite. We picked this cabin for the bathtub/shower combo. We did not want the standard phone booth size shower. From first use the shower and sink did not drain properly, filling with water and taking quite a long time to empty. I immediately let Guest Services know hoping for the problem to be remedied. Thought it would be addressed while we were off the ship in Key West. It wasn't. The first attempt at clearing the drain was made that evening. Did not improve. This went on the entire cruise. Eventually the bathroom floor drain began overflowing into the bathroom/dressing area/closet. When this happened the carpet in our closet/dressing area and would be saturated with this waste water. The bathroom tile floor would likewise be wet with a black deposit left behind when the water went back down the drain. This happened several times a day. Each time we would notify Guest Services bringing another visit from the maintenance crew and cleaning crew. The last time this happened while we were still using the cabin, the water not only soaked our carpet but also the carpet outside our cabin in the passageway. The first day the floor drain overflowed, we were giving use of an interior stateroom to shower. We had an aft-facing stateroom. The interior room was located on the same level but all the way at the front of the ship. Nothing like carrying an overnight bag the length of the ship to shower when you paid for a mini-suite. The next day we were provided access to a balcony room two levels above ours. We showered here and slept here the last day/night of the cruise. By this time our mini-suite was no longer habitable with the smell from the waste water and fans running trying to dry the carpet for the next cruise. At least we got to see Key West. Read Less

The staff is clearly aware of the problem and said they usually clean it at the end of the trip. They were great and said this time they would clean it daily but said that's not normally what they are told to do. Norwegian makes them leave it there if no one complains. I'm disgusted Norwegian can get away with this. It's a safety hazard for crew, staff and guests. I HAVE A SAMPLE OF IT AND WILL BE SENDING IT OUT FOR TESTING. I'll be contacting the company with complaints shortly. In the 20 years this ship has been out I can't believe they didn't fix this. Disgusting. I paid more for this room too. They never inform you of this anywhere on their website. Clearly hiding it. The staff was amazing and did their best but clearly Norwegian is only interested in it's profits over how its costumers enjoy the trip. Cancelled island trips only led to more activities you can pay for on the boat. Not one thing was offered to guests to increase the enjoyment of their stay. Everything feels like up selling to the point where it's shoved down your throat. I get they want our money but it made the trip hard to ever relax or enjoy an event without someone looking thirsty at your wallet or really state room card. The public bathrooms were always clogged. Upon boarding the ecstasy a cat box odor greeted passengers. The smell worsened daily until the smell of raw sewage seeped through every level of the ship causing a very unpleasant sick feeling in many passengers. Upon asking an employee what was the odor and what was being done about it we were told it was the sewage pipes and there was nothing being done. The ship was setting sail again as soon as we debarked. The food was pretty bad unless you wanted burgers and pizza every day. There was zero wait staff or bars on the top deck and no restroom. Our steward kept removing the extra pillows we asked for every morning and only cleaned the bathroom once. One of our ports was Princess Cays which is totally rented and controlled by carnival strictly for their cruises and we had to pay for all our drinks on the island even though we had purchased the bubbles package for over $300 per person. I will not be sailing Carnival again. Read Less

The ship had very little entertainment. The food was terrible, it's like they serve terrible food in the hope that you will have to spend money in the specialty restaurants. We booked 4 excursions and 2 were cancelled and all other excursions were booked so we were just out of luck. Staff was rude and was not interested in making the cruise even remotely enjoyable. Biggest waste of money ever, will never cruise norweigian ever again. The cruise staff us more worried about giving you hand sanitizer everytime you turn around rather than making the cruise enjoyable. The bars all close early and if you want a drink plan on waiting 20 or minutes in line. During peak hours there was 1 bartender working. But when everyone is ashore in a port they had 2 or more working and standing around. The drinks were poured very light. Worst cruise ever Read Less

We looked forward to our family vacation on a four-day cruise for my wife, myself and our two teenage daughters. Unfortunately, our first experience on Norwegian Cruise Lines was a disaster and will be our last with this cruise line. My advice to readers is look elsewhere for a cruise, because Norwegian Cruise Lines has fundamental and systemic problems, and the employees just don’t care. Our “Mini-Suite” was a joke and not large enough for two adults and two teenagers. Compared to other cruise lines it was a normal cabin in terms of size. When I asked guest services to come and show us how four people were intended to sleep in this room, I was told, “Go figure it out yourself with housekeeping, the room is rated for four people.” FAIL The sports bar had no sports for the cruise because the satellite TV was not working on the entire ship. One of the bartenders in the sports bar kept double charging for each drink, because I had a drink package. When I informed guest services, they didn’t seem to care, once again. I also tried to make a reservation for a specialty restaurant by calling the reservation line. I was told everything was booked. I decided to go to the restaurant and ask the hostess, and she told me “we have lots of room, what time would you like to reserve for dinner?” All FAIL Finally, the food at the buffet was either overcooked and uneatable or undercooked and raw. I selected a beef kabob one night and it was seared on the outside and completely raw inside. I also selected a piece of chicken that was a quarter inch thick and I could not cut it with a knife because it was so overcooked like shoe leather. One night at the Seven Seas restaurant I ordered a NY Strip. What I was served was a fat and gristle sirloin that was a quarter inch thick. My wife ordered an Asian Salad and it was served still half frozen. FAIL There are some many choices for cruise lines, and most of them do the basics well. Unfortunately, the Norwegian Cruise Lines can’t even get the basics right. The best advise we can offer is book your cruise with a cruise line that values getting the basics right. Our door would not stay locked, it kept popping open. Thus, the reason Our shoes was stolen out of our room. The wind star dinning was less than fabulous. The one night water poured out everywhere! We was eating dinner and had vacuums sucking the water up. The Buffett was also disappointing! And none of the good was offered long enough. Some of the activities was fun but overall it was a disappointing. The pools are not what they advertised. The hot tubs was not even warm! My friend got bit by a spider and had to pay $125 for medical to give her ibuprofen and hydrocortisone cream! Do not go to the public beaches in Nassau. They are gross and rather sketchy. WiFi service was expensive and did not work all the time. Oh and the ship itself was late getting to port. They did nothing to make this right! We had to find something to do for hours all while dragging our luggage everywhere. Read Less

This was our first experience on a cruise and we had such high expectations yet left we such disappointment. They only aspect We enjoyed was laying by the pool and Customer service was the expectational. Aside from that food was distasteful; no variety —everyday the same thing, yet different names. The stateroom size seem comfy however the bed was solid hard, the shower water temperature varied from freezing to excruciating Hot. Our itinerary stated key west, Nassau and another Island. There is not a thing to do at Key West! Nassau was a straight hussel taking away from any experience. Our final day as we try to go from the cruise to the island the wait was over an hour. The boat moved so much causing us to just return back to the ship. We both left with such disappointment; the food should’ve been better selected as well as the entertainment. Read Less

Even though we had purchased the drink package they constantly accused us of sharing drinks. The people on the cruise were not nice. The lines were long at most bars. On their "private" island they only had 1 bar. The island looked like the Frye Festival. Not great! They charge $50 for the digital versions of pictures. It literally would cost them nothing to give the digital pictures away. The food at dinner was nothing to write home about. I would say the best food I had was the rolls and butter. Their rosé was decent. Their "unlimited" drink package doesn't include Red Bull. If you're trying to have some VRB's you are gonna be sadly disappointed. Overall, I would recommend going on a different cruise line like Royal Caribbean. Read Less

Upon arrival we asked employees where all of the food is and were only pointed in the direction of the buffet. The food provided was of poor quality and disgusting. Limited options available at the buffet and the only other complementary food was the pizza and wraps and it was not available 3/4 of the time. Our cabin experience was poor due to uncomfortable beds and a wash cloth with a 2 inch hole in it. The shower was dirty and the safe was malfunctioning. I felt sick at breakfast and asked a server for a barf bag or a bowl so that I could make it to the bathroom without ruining my clothes or leaving a mess on the floor and no one could help. The “night club” was an odd smelling space with a disappointingly small dance floor. On our day at sea there was barely any food available on board until dinner. Only one half of the buffet,that had hotdogs and burgers for half of its selection, was available for most of the day. The fitness room only held outdated equipment and was unimpressive. As a whole we wish we could get a refund for our money and our time. Never cruising with Norwegian again! Read Less

we were in key west i was not feeling good so my wife called the doctor for tylenol the next thing i knew i was on my way to doctors office they told me i was having a heart attack and need to go to hospital the emt came and tried to tell them i was not having a heart attack an i did not need to go to the hospital. the doctor said i needed to leave the ship. they made us pack and get off at 8:30 at night. they would not let my wife take her flowers i bought her for are silver anniversary.they took us to the gate and left us we had to call a cab go to the airport rent a car an drive back to port canaveral and get are car not bad for a man having a heart attack the next day i went to my doctor i had a virus that i caught on the ship no heart attack Read Less

Our first night in formal dining room...it took 4 of us, 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete our dinner. We decided to try the formal dining room again for breakfast and from the time we were seated until the time we got our food it was 50 minutes. Food was luke warm even. From the day we got there until the day we left we only saw our room steward 1 time. our tissue box in the bathroom was empty for two days until i asked guest services for more klenix. I could go on but it not even worth my time to type it....very unhappy with the over all cruise, will not go back to Norwegian, unless we hear of major changes...back to Royal Carribbean we go for now. We chose this cruise for what was supposed to be a honeymoon. NEVER again will we cruise with carnival. We met ONE nice bartender on this ship. The food was crappy as well as the people serving it. They were rude and acted like they hated their jobs. This line allows underaged kids to get plastered and start arguments with adults. When security is called, "it doesn't matter that they are underage and drunk." Security was an absolute joke. If you have an issue, you're better of handling it yourself. You smell weed everywhere on the boat, even in the family areas, therefore I'm super glad we did not bring our child with us. I guess some people don't understand we have decent jobs and get drug tested and do not care to smell that 24/7. It was just an overall bad expierience. I do not recommend booking with them and if you do, Elation is not a line you want to take your littler ones! Read Less

We had been on this cruise before and it was great, but this time the experience was awful. We had an injury and they treated us like criminals and followed us around getting multiple statements. They lost signed documents and have to have it resigned. The basketball court was blistering hot and caused burns on the bottom of feet. The shower backed up with sewer. The food was horrible. The itinerary was changed but they waited until everyone was on the boat before they let anyone know. There were multiple staff that were very unpleasant and acted as if we were hindering them to ask for help. The guest services were very rude.We have loved Norwegian in the past, but this time it was a terrible experience. I have been on 15 plus cruises and this one was the absolute worst experience that we have ever had. I will think again before we give Norwegian another try. Read Less

Boarding the Norwegian Sky felt like I was visiting a prison. Everyone was very serious and not friendly. It took away the excitement you feel when going on vacation. Hospitality and customer service is what vacation hosting is all about. Norwegian fell very flat in this arena. The food could not be worse. This was my first Norwegian cruise and I will sail Carnival any day over going back to Norwegian. The food seemed old and reheated. Very poor quality. Specialty dining was over priced and terrible at Cagney's. Le Bistro was the only exception. The food was EXCELLENT and the staff was beyond AMAZING. Although the Norwegian Sky is extremely old and dated, the ship was fairly clean, which is important to us. However, the cabin was so small. Our toilet overflowed and wet our carpet. Our room steward got us a carpet blower and cleaned it all up. But we felt someone could have come and apologized about the whole ordeal and perhaps offered to move us to another room, as the smell was terrible for our last night. I do not recommend this cruise line or this ship. Happy cruising to all on another cruise line!! Read Less

Called customer service, alerted them of our concerns, and only was offered $115 discount on a future cruise with them, I respectfully declined after spending almost $2000 on a 4 day cruise and coming home extremely dissatisfied. Room was dirty upon entering. Our dinner reservation was double booked and we had to wait for another table, what’s the point of a reservation? The whole time they constantly are trying to sell you more stuff on the cruise, it’s like Royal Caribbean just wants to dig in your pocket the whole time your on vacation. Not one thing on the boat tasted fresh, every single thing tasted like it was precooked and warmed up and served. We have been on cheaper cruises and received way better service and food than Royal Caribbean. Never ever again! Read Less

I’ve sailed with different Norwegian cruises 5 times before this one, but going on Norwegian Sun was a huge disappointment. It started before the cruise even began when I got a cabin in the back of the ship but specifically payed extra for a mid-ship guaranteed. When I asked to change my cabin for the one I paid for they told me that the ship is fully booked and they couldn’t do that because all mid- ship cabins were taken. The food was bad compared to other ship’s, basically same thing every day in buffet and restaurants. Not much to choose from. The staff wasn’t friendly and seemed like they didn’t want to be on that ship either. One of the islands was canceled due to hurricane damage. The other one wasn’t canceled but still had huge waves and extremely dirty beach from hurricane. And third island, (Norwegian private island) got canceled on the morning we got there due to weather. So we ended up spending lots of time on the ship that I couldn’t wait to get off of. If you’re looking for a fun vacation don’t go during hurricane season and don’t go on Norwegian Sun. Ps and don’t trust a mid-ship guaranteed cabin unless they assign you a mid-ship cabin right away when you pay. Read Less

From booking (confusing and expensive add-one), communicating (no replies when I sent my 3 or 4 email questions), mediocre food (nothing exciting or delicious and desserts were gross), long lines for drinks, insane cost of internet, overcrowding (constant chaos) , small pool with terrible TECHNO music the entire time except for occasional 45 min Jamaican band) missing our main island and doing circles all day because the captain didn't want to take us anywhere else! Same cruise ship a week prior rerouted to COZUMEL -but not us!! Bathroom toilets overflowed the first half-hour. My cabin phone was broken. Casino was disgusting and smokers everywhere. Observation area bar should have had the live music because it is a large wasted area for karoake. We couldnt understand the announcements because of the thick accents of the cruise director. I was aboard the Norwegian Sun for a work trip my company paid for. This was intended to be a treat for our team, but ended up being anything but. If anything, we've bonded over our mutual hate for Norwegian. First of all, and I can't overstate this enough, the food is extremely bad. This is important to state up front, because eating is virtually the only thing to do while you're onboard. The food served on the Norwegian Sun makes Applebees look gourmet. You will dream longfully for the reheated frozen food from TGI Fridays. The Orlando Airport food court will appear to be a culinary Valhalla after your time spent on the Norwegian Sun. Second, this extremely bad food is served by staff that simply don't care. You will sit down for dinner and wait 15 minutes to be greeted by your waiter. Each subsequent visit from your waiter will take 10-20 minutes. Your beverages and food will all arrive at room temperature. Your ability to even speak to your waiter will be blunted by the fact that he speaks under his breath and walks away as soon as he can. Finally, in case you were able to enjoy the cruise for other reasons, it will assuredly be spoiled by the captain's desire to catch air on the waves of the high sea. Multiple nights of my trip were completely sleepless as the captain pushed through intense weather, creating incredible turbulence onboard. The ship violently bobbed up and down for hours on end throughout the night. Many people I know were intensely seasick throughout the cruise because of this completely careless navigation. This is how your vacation tortures you. My work effectively made this trip free for me and I still hated it. I undoubtedly will never board another Norwegian ship for the rest of my life. Read Less

They do not know the meaning of "All Inclusive" or customer friendly. Everytime your turn around they are trying to charge you for something. Whether it be the seafood shack or steak house , they are charging you for something, not just the drinks. Don't waste your money on a cruise with Carnivale , they just want to get you on the ship to sell you as much stuff as humanly possible. And, not to mention the cut one of our ports off because of Hurican Dorian, they spend that day trying to sell you more crap u don't need. Their customer service is crap. You tell them your issue and they repeat explanations, not helpful answers but robotic explanations. I was ready to go home the second day. Here's a idea Carnival, if you are going to cut someone's port for any reason, give them the option to either go or reschedule for another day. Oppps, but that may make you loose money and we know that your only concern. Not happy with my shortened trip. Do better Carnival, and stop nickel and diming your customers!!! Read Less

We are experienced cruisers. We got together on a cruise ship. We even got married on a cruise ship. We chose this cruise because NCL always seems to have specials and we wanted to give them a try. The Sun seemed comparable to Carnival Pride. Moreover, the ship was leaving around the time of our first year anniversary. I really wanted to like this ship and this line. However, save your money, folks. This is the worst cruise ship we have ever been on and for the first time ever....we were bored. Let's start with the first day. People were so sloppy drunk, I thought someone was going to fall overboard. And the worst part? The drinks and most bartenders were terrible. The bartenders couldn't even remember drink orders. One walked away...out of the bar...after we ordered. The food in the main dining room and the breakfast was not good at all and it sits out way too long. Crunchy pancakes, really crunchy waffles, wilted bacon, etc. The salad dressings all tasted like mustard. The hollandaise sauce tasted like mustard. The pizza was burnt at the bottom. Stick with the food at the pub. We saw our housekeeper once. He never really introduced himself. In fact, the customer service severely lacks on this ship. It is almost like the staff doesn't care. Don't go to Guest Services if you have a question. They will not know the answer or will give you the wrong answer. Our tickets for our excursions were delivered AFTER the excursion. We had to go to the excursion desk to get them. Also, they changed our itinerary due to Hurricane Dorian which I completely understand. However, it doesn't appear that they are refunding our port fees for Grand Bahamas or Great Stirrup Cay. When you ask Guest Services they don't know anything which basically means no. The casino? We are big casino players. NCL won't be getting our money. Their minimums are too high. Their slots don't even let you connect with a game. It was awful. The specialty restaurants had great food. La Cucina had just splendid Italian that really hit the spot. The steakhouse is a must try. The drawback to these specialty restaurants? The service was poor. We had to repeatedly ask for drinks before we got them. We had to wait for 20 min for our cards to be returned and almost missed a show we wanted to see. There was a plus. The steakhouse did find out it was our anniversary and did a nice small cake. It was a really nice touch. We will be reluctant to try NCL, but if we do it will not be the Sun. Read Less

My wife and I chose this ship, because we love the Oasis class. Unfortunately they didn't raise the bar. The cabin was great. They made the balcony bigger, but at the expense of the tub. I am just under 6 feet tall, and they mad the tub so narrow I couldn't stand in it without my feet being curved. It actually hurt to take a shower. The final day I had to stand with my feet together to take a shower. Also, the partial glass screen on the tub, is not attached. I almost did a header and fell out of the tub the fist time trying to get comfortable. Be careful . The public restroom was another miss, with a tall , small urinal. Again I am just under 6 feet tall, and I had to stand on my tiptoes to use the urinal. What were they thinking. Lets make a urinal that only 6 foot 6' people or taller can use. There were many puddles on the floor, and that's all I'll say. Then there was the food. Is it me, or is RCL buying cheaper and cheaper food? The food was terrible. I took a chance and tried a specialty restaurant, when the Coastal Kitchen had absolutely nothing on the Menu that night that my wife or I could stand. I paid extra to stay in the Junior Suite so I could eat there, and it was disappointing . I have had nothing but bad luck trying RCL's specialty restaurants. Trust me, there's nothing Special about them. My last cruise was on the Independence of the seas, and my wife and I tried the Specialty restaurant plan. What a waste of money. 2-3 hour waits. Rude service. The couple next to me complained, and was berated by the waiter. Awful food. We tried to cancel after the 3rd try, but was told we couldn't get a refund. We didn't care and lost the rest of our money. On the Symphony I tried Hooked. It was terrible. The service was fast and friendly, but I just couldn't stomach it. They started me off with this cheese biscuit. It was old, hard and had no taste. Then I was brought a crab and clam chowder. I was half way done, when I bit into something that sounded like either a shell or glass. I tried another bite with the same result, but found what I hoped was a shell. I stopped eating it. Then they brought me my shrimp cocktail, and it smelled funny almost like bleach. That was enough. I stopped and called over the waitress and told her I couldn't eat here and wanted a refund. I was then made to repeat everything 2 more times and grilled by the chef, but got the refund. The food is getting worse every year on RCL. So much so, That I am not going on another RCL cruise. Even the trusted pizza at Sorrento's was bad.I am now going on their sister company Celebrity , because the food is supposed to be a lot better , and they have a NON-SMOKING CASINO!!!. You can smell the smoke within 20 feet of the casino entrance. It's really bad, and they have a new drink policy that's horrible. If you earn 2400 points in a year you get free drinks in the casino. Now you can only get 1 drink every 10 minutes. Also the one staff complaint was that this was the only RCL cruise I've been on, where the bartenders were rude. The bar was open a few minutes before the casino and they were serving drinks. I went to the counter and asked for a drink, and they berated me, and told me I had to wait for the casino to open. When the casino opened, I went up to the counter again to ask for a drink, and the Bartender snapped at me that I had to wait until the casino was open. I pointed out to him that it was, He didn't believe me. I then pointed to people , right in front of us playing the slots, and all he said was "Oh'. then got my drink. Also I was ignored a lot by the Bartenders because I was Prime (Free Drinks), and I didn't have to pay for my drinks, and I guess there would rather wait on paying customers. I was ignored several times a day. It was really frustrating . It's like the new policy was invented to prevent you from wanting to get a drink. Well it worked. I usually lose a lot of money in the casino to get the points for the free drinks, and this is there new way of saying thanks? They really should have someone that is/was a guest to check out their designs,new policies and food before implementing them on new ships, that way they could avoid all these mistakes . RCL , Please upgrade the food. It's really bad when Kraft Mac & Cheese is 10X better than yours. On the good note, was the service. As usual the service was excellent. I have no complaints at all, except the Bartenders in the Casino. My room steward did a fantastic job, as so did the wait staff in the restaurants. I thought the Independence of the Seas was my least favorite ship, but Symphony comes very close. Hopefully they will see this, and improve everything, but i doubt it. Read Less
