I read the reviews prior to leaving for this trip (not before booking) and have to admit, I got a little scared. However the negative reviews were way off. This was an outstanding trip. ship was clean and well maintained for an older vessel. Staff was outstanding. I do recommend that getting the premium drink package if you plan on drinking more higher end stuff. The private island was amazing with lots of options of stuff to do. If there was one downfall that I could mention was the shady stuff happening once you got outside security in Nassau, but that isn't Norwegians fault. We had a balcony cabin on the 9th deck and it was outside. Two chairs and a small table was great to have coffee in the morning. The cabin had plenty of room and was great for two people. Bathroom was a little tight, but it is a boat. Meals were also great. We ate at two of the onboard restaurants and they were outstanding. We had breakfast on morning in the main dining room and service and food were great. The buffet was well stocked and hot. If I learned one thing is take reviews for what they are. My experience and expectations may be completely different than someone else. I do believe that the crew does try to help out as much as possible. Read Less

I chose this 4 day cruise to celebrate my birthday. I traveled solo and had a fantastic time. I noticed NCL had reduced the price to $99 without a single supplement plus 1 perk, and I jumped at the offer last minute. NCL then offered me the option to bid on an upgrade. I bid $50 for a balcony and won. I also applied 1 cruise next coupon so sailed away with a great deal on this cruise. This cruised sailed out of Port Canaveral and embarkation took 10 minutes (at noon). Debarkation was even quicker. They examined my passport before I left the ship and I was at the shuttle within 5 minutes. No wait for an elevator, wait at customs... or wait at all. It was the smoothest getting on and off the ship ever! The interior of the ship appears new and is very clean. My stateroom was clean and showed minimal wear. For instance, the cabinets had knicks. There was plenty of storage. The only weird thing was the hairdryer....bring your own. I normally dined in the main formal dining room and had 3 fabulous dinners. So delicious! The last dinner was average. I did not find the buffet area crowded, and in fact appreciated the outside section that had two buffet lines. One could dine on the outside deck, use the sports bar tables (since they are closed until the afternoon), or go into the inside buffet. I had lunch in the dining room or in Modernos. Breakfast was a combo of the formal dining room or the buffet. Breakfast was the same everyday, but was tasty and fresh. I loved the wide selection of fresh fruit every day. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful, friendly and courteous. The musical talent on board was amazing, and I especially loved the pianist/singer named Andre. He is an unbelievably talented man and I never tired of listening to him. I met many other solo travelers, and NCL had a cruise staff host a solo get together every evening. I dined with them. I also was given a cake for my birthday and was chosen to participate in the officer's dinner the 3rd night of the cruise. I really liked the design of the Sun. Even though it is one of the smaller ships and was at capacity for this trip, I never felt crowded and always found little private places and or seats. The bars at the pool had a wait, but I solved that problem by walking to the back bar by the outside buffet or I visited the bar in the Sports restaurant. I don't understand all the bad reviews for the Sun. For the price it was an amazing short vacation and I would sail on her again anytime. Read Less

We traveled in a group of 4 on the Carnival Liberty back-to-back cruise. Doing both the 3-day overnight Nassau itinerary and the 4 day Nassau and Princess Cay itinerary. The Carnival Liberty is not the newest ship in the fleet but is very well kept and has many of the Carnival signature bars. The Liberty makes a great getaway cruise and seems to be affordably prices compared to some of the other 3 and 4 day cruises. Embarktion/Debarktion: The Liberty sails of out Port Canaveral where in my experience has always been very organized compared to some other ports. We had a suite (more to come) but decided to board with our friends in a general zone. We arrived as soon as the port opened and did not wait more than 30 mins to get on the ship. Boarding started at 1100 and was a fast process. Debarktion was the same as every Carnival cruise. We chose to do the self-assist option where you are called by floor to disembark. We were on deck 7 and was not called until the lower decks were off the ship. We were required to be out of the cabin by 830 and our deck was called at 815 to disembark. When speaking to one of the workers they said the ship is usually at zero count (everyone is off) by 930. Again, a fast and well-organized process. Staff service: I have sailed on over 15 Carnival cruises and the staff on the Liberty by far has been the best I have ever had! We frequented the Alchemy bar and the bar staff was always excited to see us and knew what we wanted to drink before ordering it. If we were running late, they made sure to check in with us to ensure everything was ok. The dining room host and wait staff knew our party and when to expect us at dinner every night. One night we chose to do the Chef’s Table (more to come). The host went out of her way to check in on us during the experience knowing we was not going to be at dinner that night. When walking around the ship many of the staff would stop and talk with us and would go out of their way to make us comfortable. Public Areas: To be an older ship it is well maintained. The Liberty has many of the same public areas as the bigger Carnival ships. The Casino was always a busy area and one of the only smoking areas aside from the night club. On some of the ships smoke can be smelled on the entire casino deck. This is not the case with the Liberty. They do a great job isolating the smoke to the casino area. The lobby and casino had live music nightly including steel drum players. The Liberty has 2 pools but does not have an adult only pool. The pool at the aft of the ship seemed to be more laid back and less children throughout the cruise. The aft pool also has a retractable roof that covers the pool at night. When in the warmer climate it can get very warm when the roof is not open. Chefs Table: The Chefs table is a great experience if you are seeking to do something special. Be prepared it is limited space and should be booked prior to your sailing. It is also A LOT of food. The menu consists of almost 13 FULLSIZE courses. The chef meets us in the lobby bar. There was a group of 8. They take a complimentary chef table group photo that they give the guests at the end of the dinner. You then get a tour of the galley during busy dinner time and they talk about the amount of food they serve and how it is prepared. A pastry chef gives a demonstration on how to make the signature melting cake along with a recipe. Following the tour, you are taken into a private dining room and each course is served with wine pairing and description of the food. The chef did say the Chef Table is the same on every ship. The best advice would be to eat a small breakfast and skip lunch before the Chef Table. Read Less

I wanted to go on a cruise which had a lot of activities for my 7 year old. I choose Norwegian escape because it has a water park, mini golf and rope course. My son absolutely loved the rope course which has two zip lining circuits as well. We as a family enjoyed the rope course which is quite adventures and the water slides. They are other sport activities like bonce ball ,ping pong, soccer and basketball courts which will keep you busy and active. I loved the food court which had all the food varieties that I could thing off. They were ample options for vegetarians like us which was amazing. I am an Indian and I was pleasantly surprised to see an asian food counter which yummy Indian curries and rice. Also there was an Oriental festival which yummy sushi. I loved the broadway musical show too. The staff was very friendly and prompt and housekeeping was really good. Read Less

We went out of Manhattan Ny and I thought that would be a royal pain in the a.. but it wasn't that bad. We drove up at around 4 AM from south jersey on a Sunday and hit zero traffic. If you are parking at the port you will want to get there early. The ship was like all the other Norwegian ships, clean big and lots to do. I managed to get a deal on the haven suite which turned out to be the best and worst thing I ever did. BEST because it was worth ever penny to be in the haven. There is just no way to describe the service, food, booze, room or any other aspect of the haven except unbelievable. I don't think the wife left the haven area except to get off ship at the ports. We are just regular peeps and was treated like royalty the entire time. The haven restaurant was as good as the specialty restaurants. Snacks and chocolate covered strawberries every night. We watched a movie every night free. Anything you want was delivered or just a few steps away. My daughter told me the petit steak she had in the haven was the best she ever had. I had the surf and turf just about every night. I wanted to try some other dinner but it was so freekin good I stuck with it. Breakfast was also real good. We went to the brew house 2 nights and listened to the guy at the piano, he was funny as hell. Worst because we are spoiled now. I don't know if I can do a regular room anymore. I have been on several Norwegian cruises and never had a bad one. Read Less

Review October 27, 2019 NCL Escape Day 1 Sunday, October 27 arrived at pier in NYC around 12:10 because we were told via VM check in only between Noon and 3 due to coast guard inspection. Apparently we were the only ones told because at Haven check in we were checked in and immediately online to board ship. However, no Haven staff to bring us on board and we had to find our way on. When we got on ship it was already packed with people already having lunch. Haven restaurant already packed we had to sit at table outside the Haven Restaurant which was just fine. Our room was ready about 1:30. Haven Courtyard Penthouse 17128. Dinner was at LeBistro and was good as usual. (We had the dinner package for three meals and I made all dinner reservations online after final payment was made). We had the dinner promo (3), the Beverage Package, and Unlimited WiFi. I put our phones on Airplane Mode for the entire trip and used FB messenger to contact people. We prepaid the gratuities, however, tipped where called for. Our room steward was Rommel and did an adequate job. When I asked if I could have a lounge chair on our balcony in ten minutes he arrived with a helper with a lounge! (We gave him a little something when we first met him and a little something when we left. Our butler was Fernando we gave him something when we met him and something when we left. We never asked for anything special from him. He dropped off some fruit and little snacks in the afternoon.Patrick was our concierge and we gave him something when we left. Day 2 Monday, October 28 at sea Breakfast and Dinner at Haven Restaurant...always good....Lunch at Buffet.....just ok. Day 3 Tuesday, October 29 Port Canaveral.....stayed onboard and went up on Deck 19 sunbathing. Weather was gorgeous. Saw a show at the Supper Club.....priority seating due to Haven.....four young men singing songs from 50’s...very entertaining! They served a steak (or fish) dinner during the show...we opted out of that.....instead had dinner at the Haven restaurant. Day 4 Wednesday, October 30....breakfast early at the Haven Restaurant. Great Stirrup Cay. Weather again gorgeous! priority disembarking because of Haven. When we got on island saw another NCL ship was already there the Norwegian Sun. Note: very rocky in the water ...... recommend those water shoes....I got a nice gash on my heel.....be sure to also pack some bandaids and antibiotic ointment....luckily I always do. Lunch at the buffet. Dinner at LaCucina......excellent. And a little time and money at the Casino. Day 5 Thursday, October 31 Nassau, Bahamas. Breakfast at the Haven Restaurant, Lunch at Buffet and Dinner at the Haven Restaurant......didn’t get off the ship....relaxed....and relaxed some more. Left Nassau around 610pm. Lots of passengers and crew in Halloween costumes. Ship rocking all night.....feeling the motion of the ocean. More time at casino. Day6 Friday......@ sea......breakfast at Haven restaurant......toilets not flushing on our Haven Deck 17...... oh boy! Fixed quickly. Seas a little choppy. Lunch at buffet. Dinner at Haven restaurant. Day7 Saturday ...... @sea........breakfast at Haven restaurant.......relaxed....lunch at buffet......decide to get a jump on things and packed so we could enjoy our last night. Dinner at Cagneys....so good.......my husband had lobster tails and I had salmon.....casino for a little while and called it a night. Day8 Sunday.....had coffee and a muffin in our cabin as we were going to be walking off with priority disembarking ...... left our cabin 715am.......passports not needed to be shown since they had facial recognition screens set up. Walked across the street got in a yellow taxi and we were in our house 800am....(we live in Astoria, Queens). The taxi cost us $45 (a little more than usual) because the driver had to avoid certain routes due to the NY Marathon! Can’t wait for October 2020 on the Encore!!!!!! Read Less

I chose this cruise since it was close to my port. We arrived at the port and hadabsolutely no waiting at all (we have sailed with Norwegian many times are wererewarded for loyalty). We feel they take care of their loyal customers in severalways. We had many great meals especially Cagneys which is our favorite (Steak and Lobster) how can you go wrong. We also like the Manhattan Room which is not a Specialty restaurant (Very Goodfood) and has entertainment oncertain days. Our Room was great it had a great view and oodles of storage for the two of us. It was a family oceanview room with a large window. Our room steward couldnt have been better Casino was hopping every nite and we saw a lot of big winners. We saw two shows which were very entertaining. Our favorite stop on our cruise wasGreat Stirrup Kay - Huge barbeque with various bq food just steps away from yourlounge chairs. Water is clear and just right for Snorkling. Read Less

I chose Norwegian Cruise Line because I wanted to experience one of their ships. It was not a disappointment. The food all the way from breakfast to dinner including snacks and dessert were delicious. Every restaurant and any other venue on board were all upscale. Activities to entertainment were all that. You never run out of things to do or places to go. Staff and service were superb. Our stateroom with balcony was beautiful. Cleaniness was 100%. Everything and everyone were well organized. And they force strong precaution on sanitation and safety which is a plus. Their private island Great Stirrup Cay was beautiful. The boarding procees and disembarking were a breeze. Our Norwegian travel agent put our vacation together and we had no worries. Everything from air flight to grounds transportation arriving and departing were no hassle. Everything listed on the ship's itinerary ran ontime. Directions around the ship were easy to follow and remember. I will definitely travel with Norwegian again. Read Less

We sailed with other cruise lines but this was our first NCL. The ship was very clean and the service was excellent! We had an opportunity to bid on an upgraded cabin and won the bid! We were in the Aft Penthouse with a very large balcony. The butler and concierge assigned to our cabin never missed a detail. It was definitely worth the extra money. The food was good on NCL but not as good as Royal Caribbean. However, the workers on NCL were friendlier and more attentive. The shows on the Sky were entertaining. My husband is usually never interested in seeing the shows but he went with me every night! The NCL dancers were first rate! We went to Key West, Great Stirrup Cay and Nassau. Key West is alot of fun so any excursion you book there will be a blast or you can opt to walk off the ship and tour the island yourself. The ship docks within walking distance to Duval St and all the popular sites. Great Stirrup Cay was WONDERFUL! We reserved a private villa which was right on the beach. The beach is beautiful and very clean. We had beverage service and a private buffet reserved for the villa guests. We will definitely go back to this island in the future. Nassau was disappointing. Our jeep tour was cancelled because the tour operator did not show up. After a half hour she finally showed up and when we told her that Norwegian cancelled the excursion she got mad at us! We walked around the town but were annoyed at the sales people trying to lure you in their stores. It was a great trip and we will definitely be sailing with NCL again!! Read Less

We chose this cruise for a quick long weekend get away. We had another couple join us, they had never cruised. This was our 7th cruise, the first on Norwegian. Overall, the ship was in great shape very clean. The rooms were much smaller than we have had on previous ships, along with a small bathroom. The balcony was fine, about the same as we had had before. We only met our attendant once, however the room was clean. The food was ok, a bit cold in the main dinning room the first night, Cagney's was outstanding. The buffet was fine. The comedian and the musical shows were good. Key West was fun, although we did not know we were visiting during fantasy fest, great people watching. The private island was great, Nassau was way too hot and hectic, we decided to go back on board and enjoy the pool. Getting on and off were easy, overall a great weekend. Read Less

My 4 sisters, 2 nieces, 2 cousins and I took a 2night cruise to Nassau, Blue Lagoon Island, on Oct 22-24,2019 as an all girl getaway. We had the most fun! We learned as a mid week cruise the ship had only less than 150 passengers. We had the ship and crew almost all to ourselves. We had Sasih, our room attendant, making us the most fabulous towel animals. Loved them! FloriAnne in photography was so sweet and helpful when we were ordering photos. Raul (Wait staff) and Edwin in the Casino kept us served and amused. And a special mention of Ruel, in the Yellow Elder Restaurant, and his team for the most amusing, fun and totally enjoyable dinners both nights. Check in was a breeze, we went for lunch where we met Davor, and ardent waiter. Our staterooms were as expected, very clean and roomy enough. Sasih met us at the door and knew our names. We had our meals at the Yellow Elder, took in stage shows we enjoyed. Everything was perfect. The shore excursion to Blue Lagoon Island was so relaxing, until 2 of our ladies lost the battle of the lounge chairs on the beach and injured their foot. The First Aid technician was professional and knowledgable and treated both with care. One of my nieces really enjoyed her time at the Dolphin Encounter. We cannot wait to do this again! We have always wanted to see the NEW CoCo Cay, and it was worth the wait and expense! Our cabin was amazing as well, the coveted pie-shaped panoramic ocean view stateroom on Deck 12, #1864. It was so huge and we had 5 panes of glass to gaze out on the ocean and surroundings. The food is decenct. Not amazing but good, for the price. I was actually dissapointed in my dinner at CHOPS, it usually is excellent, but they missed the mark this time. Maybe it was an off night. I have to add in here that Adventure Ocean is very good. Our 6 and 8 year old loved going there and never complained about it. I cannot fully express how awesome COCO CAY is! We had so much fun. Our kids rode the water slides over and over and we never had to wait very long in line. We were the only ship on the island that day. I think on other days there are two RCCL ships at the island. If you can book a cruise where you are the only ship, you will practically have the island to yourself. The large pool was crowded, but the water park always had a place to sit in the shade with lots of umbrellas. Also, the "Free" food on Coco cay was really good, and way better than the average Windjammer food! All in all, you NEED to visit coco cay, especially if you have kids, and try to get #1864 on deck 12, what an amazing room! Read Less

My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our vacation on the Norwegian Sky!! The food was delicious, the service was impeccable and the entertainment was fun and memorable! We enjoyed our balcony view of the ocean and getting to see the sunrises and sunsets. The room size was perfect and I loved how there were hand sanitizing stations everywhere on the ship. That was a huge plus! The only downside to this ship, is that there wasn't a slide or laser tag or anything fun like that. Only basketball and golf I think. Our embarkation to Great Stirrup Cay was AMAZING! It was the highlight of our trip and my boyfriend's favorite! Your food and beverages package still applies while on the island. So your food and drinks are still included free, you just have to pay the island tax on your drinks (not expensive). The music was great and the water was clear. My first cruise and definitely will not be my last! Great experience on the Norwegian Sky. Lots to do, great food, great people, and you simply cannot get bored. I do recommend a balcony cabin, it is a game-changer. We were never crowded anywhere on the ship, and the service made us feel like we were the only ones on board. We especially enjoyed the Great Stirrup Cay, where Norwegian went the extra mile to have a private (and very clean) dining area, washrooms, chairs, and all the amenities that a resort would offer in a day- only we had the luxury of waking up in a new area (or at sea, very peaceful!) every morning. The cabin was incredibly clean and surprisingly spacious, so there are no additional comments regarding this. As for dining, there are many à la carte options (the Palace is great), although their buffet on Deck 11 had more than enough choice to satisfy anyone’s tastes. Read Less

I will begin at embarkation. Besides the typical security issues, could not have gone smoother. Very helpful and friendly employees helping in the process We had a promenade view stateroom. Decided to try for the first time. Not worth any extra money. Not a great view. Could not hear any activities. Will not travel this category again. Dining experience was typical. Did try My Time Dining. Again, the 1st experience. Was not impressed. Dinner took much more time than traditional. Wait staff appeared to have some difficulty with properly serving guest. Windjammer: EXCELLENT !!!! I would choose this type of dining over any other. Very care-free and laid back. I chose the same table everytime and the waiter, Shashen, was beyond INCREDIBLE. Anything needed, he was there. Always smiling and very happy. By far, the best waiter on ANY cruise which I have had. The total package of what a waiter should be. Royal Caribbean is very lucky to have him. Onboard entertainment: Again, typical. Nothing to really highlight. Evening shows were average, with one night an exception. That evening was great. Perfect Day at Cocoa Cay: Royal Caribbean has hit a GRAND SLAM here. They have set themselves ABOVE the competition. What an amazing transformation. Fun and relaxation for everyone. Best Port of Call I have personally experienced. Being new, still may be a few things to “iron out”, but INCREDIBLE. Don’t miss this port !!!!! Debarkation: Real issues. Communication between the vessel and the port authorities was BAD !!!!!!! My party was TWICE stopped due to employees sending us, and others, either the wrong direction or the wrong time. Once we FINALLY made it to the luggage area, NO bags to be found. Along with several others, they were missing. After waiting for AT LEAST 30 mins, someone found the bags somewhere on the ship... debarkation was a complete nightmare !! Return: yes Recommend : yes Highly Recommend: Cocoa Cay Read Less

The shows were well done. Pool service stewards were friendly, attentive and courteous. Many activities options-not bombarded constantly with boring art auctions. Cruise Director Lutz has the perfect personality for her job. She is friendly outside of her “stage” performance and announcements. She was enthusiastic about her job. Thank you! My Husband and I only had a weekend to be able to celebrate our 10 year anniversary so we decided on this cruise and boy are we glad we did! This short cruise really crams in a lot. We did the key program, drinks package and unlimited dining plan which I highly recommend but even without those additions this cruise is really great. So much to do on board and very good entertainment going on non stop. We did blue lagoon island in Nassau which was awesome but with coco cay included you don't need to spend extra on excursions unless you really want to. The ship is so awesome you might want to just stay onboard in Nassau. The food in all of the specialty restaurants was really good. Especially Chops. Best food I've ever had on a cruise. The coffee was definitely best from the coffee shop on the promenade. The ride was a little bumpy at times but not too bad. We got a balcony room and it was really great. Plenty of room and beautiful views and our room steward Ketut always kept it very clean. Did the free continental room service to save time on the 1st morning and that was very good and convenient. Coco Cay was amazing!! I just wish we could have stayed there longer. Overall for such a short cruise this was really spectacular and I would do it again in a heart beat and recommend to anyone wanting a really fun short weekend get away. Read Less

This was my first cruise & I was very impressed. The people on the ship & everyone there is very polite, friendly & helpful. The food was very good overall, there is a lot of variety and there are several restaurants that you can enjoy but that you will have to pay but prices aren’t bad. The rooms are very clean & spacious. Also they have a lot of thing to do for lots of different ages. I think you should definitely go. It was well worth it. There is lots of variety in music & there is a few adults only places which is good if you would not like to be around kids & also lots of ways to win free items & money. The process of getting on & off the ship is awesome & good thing is that I was able to travel without a passport just with my drivers license & my birth certificate. Read Less

I saw a negative review, i believe they sailed the same cruise we did. I did not have the same experience and felt it worthy of a positive review. We have cruised Royal Caribbean since the 90's and have never been disappointed. This cruise to the Bahamas was perfect for 2 kids under 11. The water slides on deck 13 entertained them all day. The food was what i expected, decent and ample choices. The dining room was nice and service was fantastic. We had a balcony room and the space was tight for 4 people, but who stays in their room... Coco Cay was amazing, the kids thought this was the coolest. I have sailed many other lines and some were comparable to RCL, one was slightly better and one was absolutely horrible. While it didn't impact my trip nor was the service i received affected, several of the staff members complained about not getting time off and being overworked. We look forward to our next cruise on RCL. Read Less

Great price on a 5 night cruise with all perks! Truly unbeatable value. REALLY low crowds too!! We booked this only two weeks out for the cost if a value cruise line with NO perks like drink package or specialty dining. The crew is one of the best I've seen across the board. Bar service was outstanding...no premises drinks except at the pool with frozen ones...which were great anyway! Restaurant service and food quality was, in my opinion, a step up from NCL's already high standards. Our room steward was AWESOME....very fast and efficient...room pretty much stayed perfectly made. Low crowds made the cruise feel more like a luxury cruise! I can't recommend doing these 5 night cruises. before they go away enough....DO IT. Was originally supposed to be a Cuba itinerary, but no more Cuba cruises. We took advantage of the situation....FANTASTIC cruise. Only disappointment was missing GSC due to rough seas....we are 0 for 2 on GSC....trying again In January on the Breakaway... Read Less

A weekend get away cruise for my Husband and I kid free! My husband pre checked in which you must do! We were on the ship in 5 minutes! We had an interior room which was great, I like the class shower doors, slept well with No windows and the room stayed cool. Plenty to do! Do not miss the Love and Marriage game show and comedy show if no kids. We did the sushi class, made 3 rolls! But have to eat there was stuffed! I hear a lot of complaints about the food not being good in the main dining room but we enjoyed it. Not a fan of Nassau just went and got a drink and souvenir and got back on ship. Did not pay for anything at Coca Cay enjoyed the beach and new pool, food was great, a lot of choices get the cheese sticks! Read Less

I seem to be one of the only people left in this world that have not been on a cruise and it was time for me to get away and enjoy some grown up time with my love. I had to get away from town so I would not think about work and I always wanted to see the crystal clear water. This ship was like a mini city on the inside! Absolutely beautiful with a team of crew members that worked together like a well oiled machine. I think I only encountered two that were not in a good mood, but I don’t know what’s going on in their lives right now so I can’t judge. Vincent took care of our room and made sure I had my extra pillows. He always had everything ready for us and would greet us with the most amazing smile. He will be going places some day. That is an amazing and kind soul. The wait staff at dinner was superb! We had the same table each night so we got to know our servers. The meals were more delicious then expected. The marriage show was funny followed by a an interesting comedy show. Great job Mariner Crew. I will definitely be back some day.... when I can afford the tickets. I have to be a good mom and bring my daughter (17 yr old) on the next one. Read Less
