Left a lot to be desired!

Review for a Asia Cruise on Viking Orion

We chose the Viking Ocean cruise because we had done two Viking river cruises which were exceptional. So we were expecting the same on an ocean cruise. Not to be, alas! The ship itself, Orion, about 8 months old , is very well decorated and spacious. Our room , a penthouse suite with veranda, suited us perfectly: spacious and lots of drawers. The bed was not comfortable: hard as rock. ...

Disappointed

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Explorer of the Seas

We have sailed on a number of RC ships and were looking forward to this one. Just a short break to the Pacific Islands. Bars - definite lack of staff in this area (all bars) always had to wait for drinks, (never had this problem on other ships) first ship we have had to ask for a stirrer and slice of orange in a Campari and soda it’s a basic drink (staff just not trained)! Main dining room ...

The cruise exceeded our expectations and we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise. Excellent food and the ship and décor were beautiful. The staff was excellent and very attentive. Always there especially at the pool to give you drinks and water and make sure you had suntan lotion. The Retractable roof over the pool was really nice and we never had a problem finding a place whether we preferred to be in ...

Disappointed for first timers

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Queen Elizabeth

I chose this cruise as an opportunity for my partner to experience a cruise steeped in history which he loves and for a little luxury. I have been on other liners and the difference was quite significant. We arrived early and was pleasantly surprised to be let on board immediately. Embarkation was a breeze. To keep this review brief I will deal with the disappointments. I expected more of the ...

Nice ship. Ordinary (or less) service. Disappointed

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Queen Elizabeth

This was a short cruise Sydney-Burnie-Melbourne. It was my 5th cruise, 3rd on Cunard, first on QE. Other 2 Cunard cruises were on the Mediterranean and loved them I echo the other reviews that you see on here - lovely ship, quick on-boarding, good service on dock, ordinary service on-board Had to visit the purser couple times and had to wait 30+ min each time. Whenever i walked by, ...

Very average cruise for a big price tag.

We chose this review to celebrate a milestone birthday with family. Food was very average to say the least. Had better food in on our Royal Caribbean cruises and better service too. Everything seemed to be an extra cost plus 15%. Wine was very expensive. Got a suprise of $US 34.50 for each person on our bill. $US30 to play bingo? Had 8.30 seating for dinner which meant the plays were at 10.30 ...

Champagne dreams on a beer budget

Queen Elizabeth is beautiful. The ship is incredibly elegant as it's namesake allows it to be. But unfortunately when the surface is scratched there are many imperfections that simply are a bit of a let down. Food... We were not impressed by the food in the buffet area, Brittania dining room or specialty dining. It all tasted bland or the same - but it really did look great, so I guess that was ...

First Azamara cruise but not our last

Review for a Asia Cruise on Azamara Quest

We chose this cruise for the itinerary and an opportunity to try Azamara. We were very satisfied with everything aboard ship. As suite passengers we had free access to the premium dining venues. Prime C was excellent and would have been worth the upcharge non-suite passengers paid. The other venue was hit or miss. Cabin and dining service were everything one could ask for. Entertainment we ...

RCCL is going downhill

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Ovation of the Seas

I average 2-3 cruises a year on RCCL for the past 18 years. It seems that as the ships get bigger, the quality gets worse. I loved the two-week itinerary from Sydney around both the North and South Islands of New Zealand. It's an amazing itinerary with great ports of call, so I can't fault that even a little. We had a balcony cabin. It was roomy with plenty of storage space and a nicely ...

$$$ speak, prohibitive wine costs & the perpetuation of a British class system

Review for a Asia Cruise on Queen Victoria

As part of a HoA package from DRW to SIN. Embarkation in DRW was a fiasco as 3hours after boarding we had to disembark to retrieve our passports from immigration, only to be immediately taken off us by a member of crew in the terminal. The terminal was also full of people wanting tax refunds with no clear delineation of which "queue" was which ! Mind you we never needed a Chinese visa, another ...
