My experience on the January 31, 2018 sailing of the Volendam from Hong Kong to Singapore far exceeded my expectations. Having owned a large Incentive Travel planning company, I am admittedly very critical of services provided by hotels, airlines and cruise companies. It was my job to provide the highest customer service and to make sure every detail was planned to perfection for my discriminating ...
3 star Mariners and prefer HAL to cruise due to service and food. We like how the staff is treated. If you are looking for good entertainment than you need to look elsewhere. This was our first time in this area of the world. This was also part of an around the world trip for my husband and I - mostly on our own. We flew into Hong Kong and spent 3 nights in the city. The day of embarkation we took ...
This was my first time on the Volendam, but not my last. The captain skillfully maneuvered this medium size cruise ship through high waves at the port of Nha Trang, Vietnam, and kept all the guests well informed. This my first HAL cruise with in depth cultural sessions, such as feng shui, temple etiquette, or coffee culture, in addition to the regular tips for touring various ports. One minor ...
We did choose this cruise for the ports of call selection (Hong Kong, Halong Bay, Da Nang - for Hue, Nha Trang, Phu My - for Saigon, Shianokville - for the beaches, Laem Chabang - for Bankok, Ko Samui - for temples and the beaches and Singapore. Overall, not too many days "at the sea" and nice ports of call selections. Good start and end ports (where you can come in earlier or stay more at the end ...
Choose this cruise for the itinerary and earlier good experiences with Holland America Line.
Had a very comfortable outside cabin on Main deck with renovated bathroom, now having a spacious walk in shower. Cabin stewards did excellent job, just everything was looked after very well.
Food on Volendam was very good. We especially liked the meals and service in the Dining room.
This cruise ...
Compared to other cruises this ship seems very tired, there were no entertainment staff pushing shows and events and you were left to actively seek out entertainment and shows.I found some of the staff very rude and condescending especially guest services ,the drinks were very hit and miss one good cocktail out of three, they ran out of certain beers very quickly and the best they could do was offer ...
This was our 6th time with Celebrity having previously sailed on their Solstice class ships. We knew the Constellation was older but expected the same high standards. The ship has a certain charm of an age gone by and the public areas are plentiful and not crowded. However, compared to Solstice class there's a lot needs to be done in terms of updating if Celebrity continue to sail this ship, she's ...
We chose this cruise for the itinerary and also we had not sailed before on Celebrity line. Many friends ensured us it was comparable with if not better than Princess line, which we love.
So we eagerly awaited embarkation in Singapore. This went extremely well, no long queues.
The balcony cabin was very nice and bright with plenty of storage and had a good bathroom. So far, so good. However ...
Chose this based on itenary.
Restaurant served the same food day in day out...buffet. No variety, over cooked, no taste. Sad.
Service was below par ...in buffet area. Tables not cleaned and plates not picked up.
Dirty dishes.... serving ladles on food...total cross contamination. Nothing done to rectify even after it was pointed out to staff.
The dining room service was much ...
We wanted to visit both Vietnam and Cambodia so decided to book this cruise itinerary and tag a 3 day trip to Siem Reap (for Angkor) beforehand. We flew in and out of Singapore which is always an excellent experience. After our excellent trip to Cambodia, we then stayed a night in Singapore and had great fun exploring again, having last visited 6 years ago. On the day of embarkation, we took a ...
