Review for Aqua Nera to Amazon River

The crew was great, and the naturalist/guides were friendly, funny, and well informed. We enjoyed everything from the jungle walks to the swim in the Amazon (we were told that all the piranhas had been domesticated). All the guides were from the Amazon and were able to give insights into the native culture and their upbringing. Every meal was locally sourced and delicious. The chef on board ...

View of the Third World

Review for Viking Sea to Amazon River

We chose this cruise because we wanted to see the Amazon River, the Brazilian rain forest and less-traveled portions of the Caribbean. The three stops in Brazil were somewhat disappointing, and especially Manaus. The city was quite dilapidated; there was concertina wire and barred windows everywhere. Passengers who stayed in hotels during the one-day extension were all advised not to travel ...

Review for Aqua to Amazon River

The ship was very comfortable, and the cuisine was excellent. Most outstanding was the service: the guides were excellent, and the cruise director was extremely helpful. I had a problem with my electronic reader that required a good internet connection, so she arranged to have a boat take me 10 minutes upriver to get a better signal. The only problem on the trip was poor internet connectivity, but ...

My sister and I recently returned from a three-day cruise, January 6 through January 9, on the Aqua Nera. We were booked on the Aria Amazon, but were switched for the convenience of the company to the alternate boat, due to low bookings. At booking, we were advised of the acceptable Iquitos flight timetables to facilitate transport to and from the boat. Our itinerary detailed this would ...

Worst cruise ever

The original cruise was called "The Heart of Brazil and the Amazon." However about a month before we were to leave, we received an email from Vantage that the embarkation city was changed to Belem. No explanation or reason was given. This took away nearly all of the Amazon - the focus of the cruise - and we did not see any of the Heart of Brazil, only the coast. We tried to call and ask what ...

5 Stars but for cabin steward

Everything- food,, naturalists, room (corner suite ) -. was excellent except for our cabin steward. Yes we were in the middle of nowhere but my wife and I shouldn’t have to share a bath towel after a day of exploring from eight in the morning until nine in the evening. Rooms are supposedly serviced 3 times a day so there were ample opportunities to replenish our towels. I shouldn’t had to ask ...

Having wanted to cruise the Amazon for many years and waited for the right opportunity, finally along came the Nera, a newly launched river boat promising all the luxuries mixed with excursions that I had hoped for.... and did it ever deliver! Part of the adventure was getting to and from Iquitos/Nauta Town to meet the boat. Not an easy journey by any stretch of the imagination. During high ...
