Surprising Azamara Pursuit

Review for a Africa Cruise on Azamara Pursuit

The Azamara Pursuit provides a good, solid, mid-market/premium experience. Embarkation was almost too fast and efficient. The staff had us aboard the ship, being hustled to the safety briefing. before we knew it. We felt we missed out on the joy of arriving and embarking on a new cruise adventure. The ship is comfortable and well maintained, the crew is friendly and helpful. The number of ...

This Was Not Enjoyable Cruising

We spent 18 nights aboard Pursuit from Cape Town to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. The ship had a serious gastrointestinal infection aboard that was badly mishandled by Pursuit's crew. In the weeks since our disembarkation social media is reporting the gastrointestinal issues were related to South African bottled water, and after that water supply was replaced by Spanish water all returned to normal. ...

Chose this cruise because of the itinerary ie. South Africa and Namibia. From day 1 the writing was on the wall. I will start with the good points and there aren’t many. Food-In general this was very good. Good quality and good selection. Food in Aqua and the Venetian was as good if not better than we have had on other cruises. Staff-In line with all other cruise lines stewards, waiters, bar ...

NCL let us down in Africa and Madagascar

We've used Norwegian for all our cruises and after this one we hit the Platinum level Latitudes. We've experienced some amazing things cruising with NCL, but this cruise has been awful. Only two redeeming things we've had in 12 days. The first was a dinner at their new Mexican restaurant Los Lobos Cantina. The food was excellent, the service was exceptional. We also always book the Mandara Spa ...

We booked the cruise 9 month in advace with great ports in mosambik and madagaskar. A few month later mosambik was canceld and the intresting ports in madagaskar where changed into boring ports. Then where a big pricedrop. Norwegian ignored our complaints. Altough the where about 50 cabins empty, no possibility to get an upgrade. The water and coffee on board tasted terrible and although ...

Most cruisers will have heard of the old French nautical Term "Force Majeure" used by Global shipping company's and insrurance institutions across the World, This description in most cases used to declare "an act of God" or "Inevitable accident" at sea. NCL have taken this title to a next level encompassing anything that goes wrong on board their vessels or extremley bad management or both. I am ...

Worst cruise ever

We chose this cruise for it’s itinerary, even though Mozambique was removed late last year, and an interesting Madagascar port was replaced by two stops in the north of the island which at best could be described as terrible! The South Africa stops were great, Nosy Be and Antsinerara below average due to the Shore Excursion team not explaining the shocking travel arrangements on both, we did not ...

Worst ever cruise - NCL turned our dream vacation into a nightmare!

I had always wanted to return to South Africa since living there as a child. For our retirement we planned a dream vacation that began in Cape Town, picked up the NCL Dawn for a 12 night cruise and should have culminated in a 4 day stay in Mauritius, but as a result of the authorities suspecting a cholera outbreak on board we missed out on our Mauritius stay. I have cruised for over 40 years ...

Myself & 12 other female friends booked this cruise a year in advance because of the amazing destination. First disappointment the Mozembique port got cancelled months prior to the cruise sailing. But this happens on cruises & it was still a good itinerary. Departure time arrived with much anticipation on our part. After unbelievably long flights (which we were aware of) just not ...

Excellent staff, good cabin, but needed a bit of better staff planning at times.

Review for a Africa Cruise on MSC Splendida

This was our 3rd cruise with MSC out of a South African Port. We were Aurea, and it is well worth it for the priority boarding alone. The staff in the Main Dining room were the staff stars of the cruise, friendly efficient and very attentive. The meals in the main dining room were very good and well presented. The buffet was as expected, mainly overcrowded and typical buffet ...
