South-Africa with the NCL Dawn, good but with sloppiness

Review for a Africa Cruise on Norwegian Dawn

This was the second time on the Norwegian Dawn. First time was not a long time ago, in July 2023, cruise to the UK/Ireland and Scotland. The worst cruise ever! But as we were so dissatisfied of this cruise, we received money back and a voucher of 25% for next cruise. As this cruise to SouthAfrica is very expensive, it was a great moment to use the money and voucher. And fortunately, the flights ...

Out first cruise for a special occasion, everyone on the ship told us 'this is really bad, worst cruise we've been on, please don't let it put you off it isn't usually like this'. I don't know where to start as most of the other reviews have said everything. I echo their opinions. When we booked the cruise over the phone they said we need to pay £372 gratuities while booking the cruise, they ...

I would like to add my review of this shockingly disorganized NCL cruise to South Africa. We booked this cruise for the itenerary and a once in a lifetime African adventure! The service, entertainment, bars, and dining were acceptable and quite enjoyable. However the following comments are examples of how this cruise was such an overall disappointment. The embarkation was completely ...

Worst experience of my life!

I choose this cruise because of its itinerary, but boy what a disappointment! From embarkation to disembarkation it was a total disaster. Cancelled ports of call, total disorganisation of everything from the muster station was closed because of refuelling when we were being called to report there! luggage arriving at 11.30pm at night ( we were lucky, many passengers had handed their luggage ...

Most disorganised and chaotic cruise we have ever been on. It was a disaster from start to finish. The boarding process was a disaster, hundreds of passengers were kept queuing in the sun with 40 Oc temperatures. We had to drag our luggage as they were not taken off us on arrival. Ports of call were abandoned and many days at sea added. In Richards bay the ship moored in a cold yard covering the ...

Magical places spoiled by NCL incompetence

We are experienced and mature cruising couple who choose our cruises based on the location and ports we want to visit, and we like to get away from the Scottish winter to get some heat and sunshine. Of the options available to visit Southern Africa and Madagascar, the NCL cruise offered the best variety of locations on what looked like an exciting itinerary. We had only cruised with NCL once ...

This was our first cruise with NCL and will certainly be our last, the cruise company are the fawlty towers of cruises, but not funny., Where to begin. Before the cruise even started they changed the ports of call we would no longer be visting East Africa which was one of the highlights of the trip. No option to cancel and get a refund. This also meant an extra day at sea. Fast forward to ...

We purchased a cruise package that included flights, 3 days pre-cruise stay in Cape Town then a cruise to Rio stopping at Luderitz and Walvis Bay in Namibia followed by St Helena before ending with a day in Rio. The outbound BA flights were fine. The hotel (Cullinan) in Cape Town was good apart from the dinner on the second night which was below par. All the excursions were excellent, well ...

Seasoned Oceania cruisers try out Regent. How did it go? It was an adventure. We are seasoned Oceania cruisers, and seasoned transatlantic cruisers. We booked our own flights and took the transfer from the airport to the Southern Sun and joined the 4 day/3 night precruise. The hotel is fine, in a great location, and the staff could not be nicer. The precruise tour was exceptional, our ...

This South Atlantic crossing disembarked at Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Most guests from US, Canada and Australia had endured the nightmare of obtaining the Brazilian visitor visa prior to the cruise. At the last moment the Brazil government postponed the visa requirement due to the mishandling of VFS Global, the Brazil government visa application agent. This was the most talked about topic amongst ...
