Floating Butlins rest home for the elderly and infirm

Review for a Canary Islands Cruise on Ambience

We are a married couple 57 and 55 , children left home and fortunate enough to retire recently . We wanted some winter sun and saw this as a good solution . Admittedly we have not done many cruises , 5 in total. Billed as a new ship , it wasn’t , with glossy advertising conjuring up a classy experience (don’t be fooled). I’ll itemise the experience below but firstly 2 positives : a) there was ...

Not my best cruising experience

Review for a Canary Islands Cruise on Ambience

First the good points and then a few comments. If you book an inside cabin it works out to about £50/day, quite a bargain (however a balcony, is closer to £150/day, not such a bargain). No plastic water bottle, although you can by a glass bottle of water for £1.50. You are not allowed to fill up your personal water bottle at the water dispenser, you can only fill glasses and then empty them ...

BUCKET List Trip - DO IT!!

Review for a Africa Cruise on Viking Osiris

First Time Cruiser • Age 50s

This trip was selected by my husband for his 60th birthday gift. We have been on many ocean cruises but never a river one. And typically I do all the planning and arrangements - and this time I let Viking do it all and I was not sorry! We did the Israel pre-cruise add on also which wasn't my first choice - but my husband selected it over the post-cruise days in Jordan. We were the youngest ...

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Jade

SUMMARY The Norwegian Jade is a nice sized ship with a good layout and a spacious theatre. The main dining rooms were well organized and quite spacious. The various specialty dining venues were even better and we enjoyed several good meals in Le Bistro, Cagney's, La Cucina and Moderna. The Teppanyaki was entertaining and we enjoyed the food there but the Jasmine (free anytime) was very ...

Really disappointed

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on MSC Splendida

Red Sea cruise Have taken over 20 cruises including 4 with MSC but Splendida was by far the worst ship. Nothing was clean, no antibac available especially at restaurants, public bathrooms mostly had no soap or toilet roll. The cabin was clean enough but was tatty and the balcony was filthy. Food quality in both the self service and main restaurant was poor, limited and very basic - have ...

Azamara Journey 12nt South African Intensive

Review for a Africa Cruise on Azamara Journey

For our first cruise embarking from a port outside the U.S. and our first cruise w/ Azamara, what an experience South Africa was! Not that we’re new to cruising. It’s just that the 25 or so cruises we’ve taken over the years haven’t been quite as memorable or immersive as this one. Our key takeaway… We really do prefer the atmosphere, service, and conviviality of smaller ship cruising, and the ...

Nice cruise around South Africa

Review for a Africa Cruise on Azamara Journey

This was our second time on the Journey, we previously had sailed a Baltic’s itinerary in 2018. We loved that itinerary, this one was not as good for us. Be aware that the ports are chosen for the safari tours you can take from the ports, not the actual ports. There is really nothing to do and most are very poor. Be sure to plan excursions! The ship is still in good shape. Our cabin was very ...

Very enjoyable cruise, but some ports of call were disappointing.

Review for a Africa Cruise on Azamara Journey

First time with Azamara. We chose the cruise as we liked the itinerary around South Africa. Unfortunately one of the key ports of Durban was cancelled about a month before we departed due to the South Africans hosting the Russian navy….. Cape Town was the highlight, and we enjoyed Maputo. We were very fortunate to have booked private tours from Richards Bay with a fantastic guide name Don ...

NCL can´t do trips longer than 10 Day /NCL Jade from Cape town to Athens

Review for a Africa Cruise on Norwegian Jade

Ncl has the goal to provide cruises for the premium segment. But today they are far away. On our cruise from cape town to Athens we had following issues. The embarkation in Cape town took 2,5 hours’ time standing in a line at the cruise terminal, no organisation and information from NCL, In Richards bay we had to go on the passport control for South Africa. The most passenger came with delay from ...
