We really liked the ship, BUT it is in need of an up date. The cabin was rather poor. Only one bedside table, the other side had a standard lamp ? Very strange. Carpet was dirty and vanity table was broken The food was good, staff was lovely. BUT this ship is to small for the Atlantic and it was a very bumpy ride, with sea sick bags placed on very floor. We had a drinks package, BUT got charged a tax on top every time we were in Spanish waters ??. We cruise a lot round the Med and have never been charged before, very money grasping by Norwegian. Coffee at the coffee shop had to be paid for and in all my life have never been served such awful coffee. Shows were excellent BUT unbelievably they have a show with LIVE animals ! This is disgusting in this day and age. Read Less

the shopping was so good! Way better than Zalando!! AND THE BOWLING ARENA WAS SO COOL!!! LOVE IT. Went on the behind the scenes tour which covered the bridge, engine control room, galley and gave a chance to understand crew life - very interesting and worth doing. Had the beverage package - if you drink wine, esecially the nice stuff, be aware that the wines available at the bars are very limited. The good wines are only available in the Sapphire/Chops Grille (and possibly Giovannis), and only by the bottle which means that you are paying 60% of the cost. So factor that in when deciding whether beverage package the right choice. Tried to to register daughter at kids club on the first night @6pm when the notices said it would be open - at 6:20pm there was a large group of us outside the kids club banging on the door - no-one there. The guys from the videa arcade rang someone who told them KC wasn't opening until 6:30. Left as tired of waiting and daughter then refused to go back. Read Less

First time cruiser. The Epic is huge but not crowded by any means. There was soo much to do and the staff was very courteous to everyone. We did not care for Ocho Rios as we were on the James Bond pier and it was shady to get to town. the city is dirty and the people are extremely pushy. We only spent 2 hours on the Island and returned to the ship. The rest of the stops Great Stirrup Cay, Cayman Islands (city of Hell) and Cozumel were super awesome. Will cruise Norwegian again and again. The ship is constantly cleaned and sanitized daily to the point if you get sick its your own fault for not washing your hands. From the bars to the Dueling pianos there was soo much to do! Food options and adults only pool, spa, hot tubs and lounge area were a great escape from younger kids yelling and playing. The quiet deck on level 18 was fabulous and a wonderful space to relax with the waves and wind! Read Less

It was our wedding anniversary so we thought a short cruise would be a good way to celebrate. We had been on a P&O cruise before and so had high hopes about eveerything. Sadly we were very disappointed this time. Embarkation was pretty easy. No problems there. On board the ship there was a very unpleasant smell in some areas, like sewerage. Our room was small but ok as we only needed to sleep there. The bed was quite comfortable and the feather pillows really good. The air conditioning in the room was also good. The thing we were most disappointed with was the food and some service. We did not like having to line up for service in The Pantry, particularly when the staff behind the counter did not or could not understand what you asked for meaning you had to ask several times. The food in almost every instance from The Pantry was really tasteless. I couldn't honestly make a comment about how delicious any hot food or dessert was with the exception of porridge with yogurt and the french toast. Everything else was bland and boring. We ate at Angelo's, the Dragon Lady and the Waterfront. These restaurants proved to be better. The biggest disappointment of all was the Shell and Bones seafood restaurant inside the pantry. That should have rung a bell but we thought there would be different chefs to those in The Pantry. Unfortunately I don't think that was the case. We ordered a hot Seafood Extravaganza anticipating something out of the ordinary, but no, it was very disappointing and to make matters worse, it was a paying restaurant. My husband, a keen fisherman and very good cook of seafood, said it was the worst seafood meal he had ever had. The (American) lobster was tough, the tiny (and I mean tiny) fried scallops balls and prawns in breadcrumbs were cooked in old oil it seems as they were very dark brown and overcooked, the salt and pepper squid had no salt or pepper and a little bit rubbery, the 3 octopii were the size of 10cent pieces. No oysters, no mussels and not even a few chips. We were so disappointed. The staff overall on the ship were very friendly and courteous and helpful. No complaints there. The lifts at the end of the 3 nights were starting to break down making moving between decks time consuming and difficult for those who couldn't manage the stairs. We also experienced two toilet facilities where the toilets weren't flushing. A real bugbear was how inconsiderate some people were with monopolising the popular deckchairs. People would put towels or bags on them early and disappear leaving an empty but monopolised chair for long portions of the day. With limited seating in popular areas some sort of time limit on chairs should be worked out. The entertainment was quite good, especially the rock band revival show and the trivia nights. Overall it was nice to be on the water relaxing but my husband and I would not go on this particular ship again as it definitely didn't measure up. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary and the open bar. The staff was friendly. The rooms were clean. Getting on the ship took only about 30-40 minutes wahich was not too bad. Getting off the ship was quick. They even served a full breakfast with beverages on the disembark day. It was nice to feel pampered on the last day. This has never happened on the 6 cruises I have been on :) The comedian Vince was excellent. I would pay to go see him and I have never said that about a comedian on a cruise. The rock and roll show was very good. The first night show was not good. I enjoyed the piano bar. The food was mediocre but, presented beautifully. They need more staff making omelets. The line was always very long and we would leave the line after waiting a few minutes. Add more omelet makers, please. Getting on and off at Nassau was easy. I hated waiting so long to take a boat to the private island. They wait till it is completely full. Make more trips like every 15 minutes so we don't have to wait 30 minutes to leave. We did not get on the island till about 12 :30 and the bars closed at 2. It would be nice if you could eat something when you get back on the ship. The room stewards were very good and even made a towel animal the last night. The bar staff did not know how to make many drinks at all. they could not make a frozen margarita, a manhatten, and many other drinks. I guess since this is an open bar they are busy and they only want to make a couple type of drinks but that was very disappointing. Read Less

This is my 7th cruise and my first on Norwegian and this is my fav so far. You can't beat free open bar. How amazing! I went with my boyfriend to celebrate my birthday with a weekend getaway. We found the ship one of the easiest to navigate. The BEST part of this cruise was the entertainment! We did about 4 activities every night from dodgeball, to bingo, to the audience participation shows, comedy shows, and nightly dance and sing shows. We had a blast. I loved the free style dining so we could take our time and not feel rushed. We went jet skiing at their private island and had a blast! We had enought time at each port to really enjoy it. There never seemed to be a long wait anywhere on the ship which was nice. The cabin was average in comparison with other cruises. We loved the cruise director! We would definitely do this cruise again! Read Less

I just got back from a 2-night cruise on the Grand Celebration with a group of 7 others and we had a great time! For an older ship, it's in very good shape. The carpets and furniture still look new and since they don’t allow smoking in the casino, or in ANY indoor areas, there was no musty smell at all. Food – We all ate in the MDR the first night and a few of us hit the buffet the second night. We all thought the food was good. Even the gluten-free and vegan members of our group were well accommodated. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss as it is on a lot of cruise ships, but there was an omelet station for anyone who wanted fresh eggs and plenty of standard breakfast items in the buffet. There was pizza and a late night buffet that featured tacos one night and Greek selections on the second. No one ordered the room service but it featured some basic sandwiches or the gourmet burgers for an additional charge. We also missed out on the poolside BBQ but heard good things about it. Entertainment – We were all surprised at the range of entertainment options available on this ship. There was champagne piano bar which was low-key and relaxing most of the time except when the Tina Turner impersonator took to the floor. She was fun! There is a lounge connected to the casino which featured a band playing classic rock, a Latin dance club, a sports bar/ disco, karaoke out by the pool and an area on the aft deck called the Dancing Martian with party lighting that perfect for a glow (black light) party. The production shows featured the dancers along with a magician and the comedian the first night and an “around the world dance styles” show the next. Overall, I’d give the shows a B- as the singing didn’t quite measure up to the dancing. There were plenty of audience participation games in the lounges and pool deck for those that wanted to play along. Outside – One of the disadvantages of the older ship design are the small pool areas. The main pool is a bit small but the one on the aft deck allowed for more pool options along with two Jacuzzis. There is a larger Jacuzzi on the forward top deck that serves as an adults-only area. They are putting the final touches on a new bar to serve that area which should be open soon. Although the sailing was sold out, we never felt like any part of the ship was overcrowded. Cabins – The cabins are on the larger side as this is a former Carnival ship. I had some issues getting hot water in the shower a couple of times which was one of my few complaints about the cruise. Staff – We found everyone on the ship to be pleasant and accommodating. Our cabin steward always greeted us with a smile and assistant cruise director Dohne was very helpful and took time to assist us with our questions about the ship. Port – There is absolutely nothing to do around the Freeport cruise terminal, so any day trips need to be arranged with the tours desk or on your own with a taxi. Overall, we found the ship to be a good value and a lot of fun. It would seem most of the complaints posted here seem to be coming from people who were expecting an amazing bargain. Yes, you have to pay for parking, port fees, taxes, a $1 terminal fee and gratuities. I wouldn’t call those “hidden fees”. They are pretty much standard in the cruise industry. I spoke to several people who were repeat cruisers on the Grand Celebration. For the locals, it’s a quick, fun, affordable getaway that doesn’t eat up all of your vacation time. I agree! Read Less

This was our sixth cruise and first with the Norwegian line. The Open Bar was fantastic and there were so many bars we really never waited for drinks. The staff walked around and served drinks poolside and in the evenings during the shows. With that said, the food was not the quality I have had on other lines. We felt the food was below average in the buffet and main dining rooms. We did not eat at the specialty restaurants and I would highly recommend trying those. They have to be better than what we were served. If you are looking for a cruise with fantastic food and quiet relaxation you need to keep looking, this one isn't for you. On the other hand, if you are looking for a fun filled weekend with plenty to drink and lots of partying this is the cruise for you. The DJ's were great and the poolside band was excellent. The passengers were lively, younger, and always ready for a good time. This is not a boat for children because there was not much for kids to do. The ship was very clean and in good shape for its age. It lacks the bells and whistles of the bigger ships but I feel it was fine for a weekend trip. The staff wasn't as friendly as on other lines. We didn't even meet our room steward until the second evening! With that said, it was a weekend trip. A good value if you enjoy drinking, listening to music, and hanging out on the pool deck. The Great Stirrup Cay stop was excellent and had enough chairs for everyone including food and drinks. Read Less
