November 25,2018 to the Amazon Very enjoyable, but would not say that the Amazon is interesting.Just another muddy river with very little of interest. In spite of this, the cruise and ports in the caribbean are OK. Ship nice,very clean and welcoming.. We are not entertainment or late night types so the quality of show is not applicable to us.o us. The only short coming is the PRIME 7 restaurant. It brings down the quality of the ship.. The food is bad and we can assure you that most passengers who tried it did not go again.The food elsewhere on the ship is far better. All areas of the ship were were clean and well kept. Drinks were readily available Pool deck nice, not noisy and service excellent. At all times service was superior. Always with a smile, Quick and professional. Unfortunately we contacted bronchitis, so we missed some of the excursions, but the ones we did go on were fine. Read Less

Nov. 27, 2018 Mariner Papeete to Auckland The following experience optimizes what makes a Regent Cruise so wonderful. It's the exceptional, sincere, and kind individuals that work together to create for guests a once in a lifetime celebration and memories. We chose this trip because we vowed to return after 20 years to the places where we honeymooned. I mentioned to Sunil, our butler how my husband John was my hero and superman for when he married me, a widow, he took on the responsibilites of two greiving  teenagers and ill and declining parents. I wanted to thank him with a surprise German themed evening of food and music. It brings back his happy memories of his parents of German descent. I thought we might have dinner in our suite and perhaps hear a couple German tunes where the musicians were playing that evening. Here's the amazing evening that Sunil flawlessly executed with the help of Marius, Chef Wesley, Kasha, Anyje, Boogie, Zach and their fellow performers. When we returned from our shore excursion, Gretchen and Deborah who kept our room always tidy, had beautifully decorated our suite. Towels were creatively transformed into swans forming a heart messaging I ♡ YOU on the confetti strewn bed. Red and white ballons with ribbon streamers were everywhere. We were then invited to the Mariner Lounge where Kasia and Antje greeted us in their German durndl dresses. They had planned a unique and upbeat show of beer toasting, music, song and dance. The girls wisked my joyful husband to the dance floor where he joined the dance and returned misty eyed. I am amazed how they came up with such a professional costumed show with such short notice. Brendon and Nathan said they had just finished learning their parts that afternoon. You would never suspect as it was executed with  perfection and all in attendance throughly enjoyed the upbeat energy of their performance. We then returned to our suite for dinner where Marius and Chef Wesley wished us a happy anniversary and presented all of John's favorite German dishes: his mother's Sauerbraten, schnitzel, spaetzley, pretzels and Asparagus soup served with a nice Reisling wine. I had mentioned to Sunil that John enjoyed a cigar and whiskey after dinner. He suggested that a taste of Louis XIII Cognac would make a nice gift from me. I agreed so we surprised John once again with a stroll to the cigar lounge were Sunil made a white gloved ceremonial presentation of this special indugence. We then caught John, the cruise director's excellent show. When we returned to our room there was yet one more surprise: a black forest cake topped with a fondant sculpture of Superman carrying me reminiscent of our original wedding cake. John's dad was a master baker and played trumpet in a German folk band and he would have been impressed. We were never charged for any of this. Regent doesn't nickle and dime you. They just treat you special all the time. We love that you never put your hand in your pocket once on board. You just sit back enjoy and let them pamper you So you see all of these wonderful individuals went over board to gift us an evening we will forever cherish. They make a Regent cruise special. From the moment we were greeted at embarkation to the moment we left the ship our experience was one of total enjoyment, comfort, respect and outstanding service. Our suite was kept immaculate, Our Butler was one of if not the best in all our years of sailing. Dining was a pleasure and fine dining is the best description. The preparation and special requests were outstanding and innovative. Although I believe the beef was not the top quality I experienced in the past. I give the waitstaff mixed reviews. Compass Rose only one stood out while the others seemed lost. Prime 7, The whole experience from the Maitre'D to the waiters to the runners were amazing. I wasn't a fan of the shows ( I'm usually not) but the other guests seemed to enjoy. Diverting around rough seas was a great choice and adding a port shows the commitment on Regent to keep the guests in their thought process. Read Less

We had heard of regent cruise thought we should check it out. The ship was in great shape having been recently remodeled. We had a large room, probably too large but it was nice We had a butler who was very attentive and met all of our needs. While we are not foodies per se the food was more than acceptable. The options for the food were extensive. We had canapés brought to our suite nightly. Our suite was stocked with favorite adult beverages ranging from beer to out desired alcohol. Off boat excursions were plentiful and for the most part included. We were somewhat disappointed that the ship left port at either 5 or 6 nightly. We would have liked to spend an evening in the casino at Monte Carlo or had some local food at say Sicily or Capri. The distances were such that they appeared to be close enough to depart a bit later. We thought that the attentiveness and dedication of the staff was above most other cruises we have been on. They were very attentive and we anxious to make everyone happy. The dining selections included steak .italian, salad bar,Asian and French. Poolside grill was always a good place to have a small dinner. One observation which was rather curious. The ship was 40% Asian. Regent we were told, has changed focus and is now marketing their product to the chinese populous. Rather interesting we were sitting with a couple from Hong Kong. They were not pleased for they had talked to mainline chinese and had found out that these people had paid 40% less than they paid. As a result of the concentration of the chineses it was felt that the food was more focused on their needs than on other cruises, unfortunately the mainline folks are more of a rush and don’t respect ques or lines. Funny the Hong Kong Chinese had a bigger problem with the mainline folks than the rest of us. I will look into this new focus on the part of Regent to find out if this is in fact the case. If so this may influence our future choices. Entertainment was more on the site of mediocre. After 2 shows we just decided to skip. Read Less

My father and I had always wanted to go to Tahiti, he was turning 80 and I was wondering if we would ever get a chance to travel together since his health had suddenly deteriorated. Regent was the perfect cruise line. We were tired of the up charging for this and that. Wanted a cruise that we didn’t have to check our receipts for the day or worry about the extras. Everything was taken care of! This was a truly all inclusive trip. Of course there were crazy expensive drinks and cigars were extra ( which should be). Being people who enjoy finer scotches and Bourbons we were still satisfied with the selection on the ship. The staff went above and beyond to make our vacation unforgettable. The Crew even arranged to get us on a tour that had already left! It was the first time my mom was in the ocean with stingrays and sharks. Amazing! We got to know some wonderful passengers and staff which I know our paths will cross again. The entertainment was not like the mega ships, but we didn’t care. The craft sessions far surpassed anything on the mega ships! Unfortunately, I can’t remember names since I am writing so late. Broke my back riding horseback in Nuka Hiva. Do the Le Truck! Don’t go off and make your own plans there. My husband and I went diving and though the cruise line did not offer any assistance, some of the crew were very helpful in assisting us with getting some dives in and communicating with the dive shops for us, as well as making sure we got out on the first tender if needed. Last time we cruised on Regent was four years ago and it was on the Mariner. This, over three week, voyage gave us about three months total on that ship. Soon after we boarded we checked out the Main Dining Room, The Compass Rose, and wondered if we were on the right ship. We weren't aware that the Mariner went through an extensive refurbishment last March. Quite a change in the MDR, not just in the general decor but with wait staff and cuisine. Special shout out for the wine pairing sommeliers. Now, don't get me wrong, the Mariner was always great, but it was now super. For years now we have listed Regent as our favorite line and the Voyager as our favorite ship. Sure wish we could scratch up the simoleons to book them more often and for longer durations. Cruise lines love to give romantic titles to their cruises, this one was "Havana Dreams, Panama Scenes". I suggest that it should have been the "Hurricane Dodger", LOL. When we left Anchorage, AK we were keeping an eye on a dying hurricane out in the Pacific off the Baja Peninsula in Mexico which had doubled back toward the mainland. Then we heard about Hurricane Michael moving into the Gulf of Mexico, which was likely to prevent us from visiting Cuba. Survived those okay and had an enjoyable visit in Cuba and the countryside there, a great transit of the canal on a beautiful day all the way but then, five days after the canal, we returned to the ship after touring Acapulco, Mexico and found a letter from the captain on our bed explaining that a big, already Cat 5, hurricane was dead ahead of us, Hurricane Willa, and another smaller one coming up from the south toward our present position at the time. In order to put some distance between us and Willa we turned southwest for a day or so then northwest. Eight days sailing non-stop between North America and Maui, 3800 miles, instead of the scheduled six days to cross from San Diego. Our captain had chosen the most prudent course of action which was to bypass the planned ports of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on Tuesday and San Diego on Thursday and instead spend those days at sea navigating our course far away from the storm systems, with a new arrival into Kahului, Maui one day early for an overnight stay. On the way across the Pacific we learned of Typhoon Yutu, which was the largest yet in 2018, it had just hit Saipan and Tinian on the other side of the Pacific from our location. At that time the Accumulated Cyclone Energy, or "ACE," was by far the highest ever recorded, or using that criterion, it was the worst hurricane season on record since records began early in the 19th century. Our extra sea days were due to weather situations, the longest number of those we have experienced was nine and that was also due to an accident, a lady compound fractured her ankle so we had to turn back in order to get her off the ship for medical attention. All total we canceled two port visits due Willa, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and San Diego, Ca, plus one port canceled at the last minute due to political unrest, Nicaragua. Out of that we gained two more "At Sea Days" and another day and a night in Kahului, Maui. Hey, I saw more flying fish that voyage than I've seen in years. But it was all good for us since we love sea days and life on board was exquisite due to Regent's fine service, cuisine quality and on board activities such as that involved with one of my favorite aspects of cruising, the enrichment lectures, particularly those addressing the theme of the voyage or aspects of the area of the world the cruise is taking place in like history, naturalism and geography. On this voyage we had two lecturers, Michael Scott, a botanist and historian and Lt. Colonel Bill Rothschild a NASA Rocket Scientist and engineer. Scott's presentations fit perfectly into the area of the world we voyaged but Rothschild's were very interesting as well. I think they spoke a dozen times each and I attended every single lecture, perfect attendance. Not to mention my sometimes twice daily hot tubs and the wonderful service from the ships pool bar. In a way this was a strange voyage, smooth seas and nice warm days all the way, yet we have were surrounded by hurricanes most of the distance. But all voyages can't be absolutely perfect. We did experience a few glitches, minor as they were. We planned on three formal nights which somehow got changed to two. But the last one they scheduled on the last night of the voyage, which was a port day preceded by six sea days. Nobody plans like that. Neither did they, toward the end they rescheduled the formal night to the last sea day, hurray. We almost always purchase pre-cruise and post-cruise hotel and transfer packages and so we did this time as well. On the pre-cruise hotel, which was part of the cruise package, they changed the hotel on us a few months before sailing, no big deal. But then a few weeks before sailing, after we had received the nice final formal cruise packet in the US mail, they flip flopped again and changed the hotel back to the original. Somehow we missed the email notice of the second change. So ended up in the wrong hotel. By the time we figured out there was something wrong we had already booked into a very fine room in the wrong hotel. Regent determine it was all our fault, so gave us a choice, stay in the wrong hotel and pay for it yourself or move over to the other one which we are paying for. We moved. On the post cruise hotel, the Royal Hawaiian in Honolulu, Regent was right on top of this and changed hotels for us when they discovered Waikiki hotels were just hit with a massive labor strike and the Royal was included. They got us into a very nice waterfront hotel that was not on strike. Good on them. In summation, I realize Regent's prices are pretty steep and going up, so are the other line's prices that we frequent. But you have to say this about Frank Del Rio (FDR)'s lines. The other lines seem to not only be increasing prices but also engaging in a commensurate ratcheting down of overall cruise quality. While at the same time, Regent is enhancing over all cruise quality. Read Less

We chose this 28 day back to back cruise as we had not been to Alaska in many years and all we had to do is fly one way as we live in Florida. We flew to Vancouver and since we had a penthouse we received a free night at the Four Seasons Hotel. Embarkation was easy and after a small lunch in the Veranda our luggage had been delivered and our cabin was ready. Service and food on the ship were superb. We really enjoyed the Veranda for breakfast and lunch and had most of our dinners in Compass Rose. The menu selections were huge and it was always hard to decide on an entree so we usually shared between the two of us. Chartreuse was not our favorite but we enjoyed Prime Seven (especially the whole Maine lobster) several times. The excursions in Alaska were exceptional. We went whale watching (saw hundreds), and loved watching the dolphins play and the bald eagles who were spotted in the trees by our guide. We had a dungeness crab feast in Ketchican (all you can eat)! Two ports were cancelled (Nicaragua because of unrest and Grand Cayman because of Hurricane Michael). Would not want to go back to Acapulco or Guatemala. Mostly life on the ship was great. There was good weather and we enjoyed just sitting by the pool reading or going to lectures and playing duplicate bridge (there was an excellent bridge director (Joyce from Saskatchuan) . Cruise started and ended in Athens. The room was large considering it was a cruise.. balcony, sitting area , walk-in closet, shower and tub. Food was delicious- our favorite was the Compass Rose. Most mornings we had room service for breakfast because excursions were early. Everyone of the staff on the ship were very friendly. Loved the three man band that played any song you wanted in the lounge each night. They had other singers, dancers, pianists and full orchestra as well. All were very talented. The shore excursions were great... we only did the half day ones. All of the tour guides were very knowledgeable. Our favorite ports were Malta, Katakolo, Rhodes and Kusadasi. The afternoons we sat by the pool. We met lovely people from all over the U.S. Australia and United Kingdom. It was our first cruise .. my husband was hesitant to go. Now we can’t wait to cruise with regent again. Well worth the cost. Read Less

We were sold on this cruise when we saw the itinerary -- from France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Montenegro and more...ending in fabulous Venice. What's not to like? We'd been interested in taking a "luxury" cruise line and had friends who had good experience on Regent and we liked its all-inclusive feature. This turned out to be lavish convenience. Flew into Nice, France, taxied to Monte Carlo the day before departure, and enjoyed the Hop-on-Hop-off bus. Embarkation in Monte Carlo was a breeze -- no lines and the ship didn't seem crowded while we awaited our 2pm cabin availability. Our cabin was 747 -- perfectly placed mid-ship for minimal movement and easy walk to all events. The room was noticeably bigger than other company's standard cabins -- two could actually fit into the bathroom at the same time. Tub AND shower. And WALK-IN CLOSET! We did notice that our Celebrity Sky Suite has more drawers/storage but that's apples and oranges. Staff got us extra clothes hangers and did a good job keeping room spotless. Food in the main dining room, Compass Rose, was very good. Their creative menu changed nightly and they had a long list of standard items, which included lobster, filet mignon, Dover sole, and more. French restaurant Chartreuse provided one our favorite dining experiences with excellent service and amazing food. Our reservation for steakhouse Prime Seven was at 9pm (way too late for us) and checked but never got in at an earlier time. Regent allows you to reserve several months in advance but I suspect suites and longtime Regent customers had already accessed the best times. Regent's buffet restaurant, La Veranda, offers white table cloths and ample service staff will bring items to your table when you give them your table number. We thought the food there was just so-so and lacked much daily variety or creativity. The hamburgers at the poolside grill were terrific and they also had a nice buffet for lunch and casual evening dining. We always preceded dinner with cocktails in the Voyager lounge, where we always found a nice seat by the window -- enjoyed snacks, martinis and the piano player. We'd heard that the entertainment was not a strength of Regent's and we were pleasantly surprised. Their cast shows were as good or better than one's we'd seen on much larger ships...Celebrity, Disney and Cunard. The dancers were amazing and the singers had terrific voices AND could dance as well. Excursions were efficient and well-run by the on board staff. Because Regent offers a variety of included excursions, seasoned passengers know they need to book as early as possible because they often sell-out quickly. We booked early and got all the tours we wanted. Unfortunately, we found out on-board our Rome tour was cancelled due to lack of interest and others we were interested in were unavailable. Gratefully, the supervisor created room for us on a previously sold-out tour. Very nice, patient and accommodating staff. Tour guides were spotty....some were terrific while others were unenthusiastic or very hard to understand (particularly at the Vatican). A guest lecturer provided history and information on several of our ports. His presentation style wasn't particularly entertaining. Reminded me of a college professor who could have used better slides and a laser pointer. Could have been improved with actual photos of ports, how to get to the center of town, what's withing walking distance. I've seen others actually drop in iPhone photos they've taken on the previous cruise. Very helpful. FENDER-BENDER ALERT: When departing Rome's port of Civitavecchia, a major gust of wind pushed our ship into the pier, causing a big dent and scrape to Voyager's portside, aft. We were at dinner in Compass Rose and as we got underway a big THUD visibly stunned passengers. I always look at staff in these situations and you could clearly tell this was NOT something they experience often -- looking to each other like "should we go into emergency mode?" After a while, the captain came on the PA and explained what happened and he'd keep us apprised. The next morning at 7am we were still in port in Civitavecchia and there was no word from Captain, no note on the door, no message on the Regent TV channel, etc. I went to Reception and they also had no information on when we'd be leaving or where we were headed. Finally, the Captain came on and told us we'd be having a "sea day" and would skip our stop in Naples, which had already been changed from our anchor-port of Sorrento for weather reasons. We actually were happy to have a relaxing day at sea after an intense excursion in Rome but many passengers were very upset missing either the Amalfi Coast or Pompeii. For the remainder of the cruise, we tendered or disembarked from the starboard side, avoiding the visible appearance of the dent/scrape. We feel lucky this incident was relatively minor because it could have been so much worse. And everyone agreed the ship could have handled the overnight communication better. Even if they didn't have answers, they could have outlined the facts, when decisions would likely be made...and sent approved information for staff to use when answering passenger questions. Overall, we enjoyed Regent. They have an excellent product, superior staff and Voyager is still in ship-shape. The price would be our only hesitation. We can get similar experiences for less in suites on Celebrity or others. But it still wouldn't be the special experience that Regent or other luxury lines provide. Read Less

I'm relatively new to cruise travel -- prior to this one, I'd completed two cruises, both on another cruise line. I booked this primarily due to the itinerary -- it included both Alaska and the Panama Canal -- and the cost. The cruise was actually two separate cruise: a 10-day Alaska trip from Vancouver to San Francisco; and an 18-day cruise from San Franciso to Miami via the Panama Canal. As such, it mixed cool and warm climates which made packing ... interesting. As a solo traveler, I always have to factor in the "single supplement" which for most cruise lines is 100%. Regent Seven Seas seems to be bucking that trend: so far, all the cruises I've booked have been less than half that (42-45%). This makes Regent Seven Seas much more competitive with more "mainstream" cruise lines for solo travelers. Add the fact that the fare is all-inclusive: drinks (including alcohol), excursions, gratuities, and specialty dining -- things that a lot of cruise lines charge extra for, and the comparison is even more favorable for Regent. The Mariner hosts 700 guests, so it classifies as a "smaller" ship. This makes the ship easier to get around for those of us with some physical challenges. In my case, I have advanced COPD which makes walking long distances particularly problematic. As long as I take my time and walk slowly, I'm OK. Since the ship is smaller, this means getting around the ship is much easier. My cabin was near the aft elevators; most of the ship's guest services, boutiques, etc. are nearer the bow, which meant walking almost the length of the ship at least once a day. I was able to do this with minimal discomfort which allowed me to enjoy more of the ship's features. SUITE: Every cabin on the Mariner is a suite with a veranda. I booked a Concierge suite -- one of the smaller suites on par with Holland America's "Vista" suite -- about 300 sq feet including the veranda. It was a great size for a single person: HUGE walk-in closet; decent bathroom size, comfortable furnishings, mini-fridge stocked and replenished as needed at no additional charge. “On-demand” movies in various genres (about 200 or so, total) available via the interactive television system, which also includes dining menus, daily activity video from the Cruise Director, and the usual set of “Enrichment” and “Destination” videos from onboard lectures. Super comfortable bed and pillows. FOOD: 5-star all the way! Far exceeded my expectations. The expansive "always available" in the Compass Rose (the main dining room) guaranteed a totally yummy dining experience every day without getting bored. In addition to the "always available" selections, there are daily specials which provide additional 3-4 choices in each course. The food is exquisitely presented and absolutely delicious. Portion sizes are reasonable. I visited La Veranda fairly regularly for breakfast and occasionally for lunch. The choices were amazing -- way more than I could possibly explore on a 28-day cruise. The omelets are especially yummy and made to order with whole eggs (unless you order an eggwhite omelet). Lunch selections vary every day although there are a number of things that are always available. Again, beautifully presented and super delicious. Chartreuse is RSSC's "French with a twist" with a set menu -- no daily variations. The food is superb, again beautifully presented and prepared. I ate here three times. Prime 7 is the upscale steakhouse -- I ate here twice and found it excellent, but honestly not much better than Compass Rose. Sette Mari is the Italian restaurant that features more sophisticated dishes. Again, excellent! ENTERTAINMENT: I'm not usually a "shows" person -- I tend to hit the sack kind of early most nights -- but I did attend several shows since it was so convenient (located not far from Compass Rose and Prime 7). The entertainment staff is superb -- 12 singers/dancers who are extraordinarily talented. Their ABBA tribute during the "variety" show was outstanding, and "Blazing Boots" was a country music hit (and I'm not even a country music fan, but it was so well done!). John Barron, the Cruise Director, did one-man shows twice, and his show is definitely worth seeing. And the Constellation Theater is beautiful -- comfortable seating, great sight lines, etc. EXCURSIONS: I don't pre-book excursions mostly because there just isn't enough information in the descriptions for me to make an informed decision about whether or not I can actually physically handle it. As mentioned before, I have to be careful with walking long distances. I don't want to put myself in a position where I might end up delaying other people due to my having to walk slowly. Add to that a very bad knee (waiting for a knee replacement), which makes things like staris and getting on/off tenders particularly tricky, and it just doesn't make sense for me to book an excursion only to have to skip it due to physical challenges. I can't know until I reach the port what those challenges might be. I'm OK with not being able to take many excursions as I find the onboard experience just as important. I'm perfectly content sitting on my veranda, sipping a glass of good red wine, and taking photos of everything I see that is interesting. SERVICE: Again, exceptional. My two room stewards were amazing, making sure I had everything I needed to stay comfortable and happy. The real test of customer service is how they respond when a problem arises. Four days into my cruise, I broke a tooth -- a lateral incisor, with a near-complete fracture. No warning -- it happened in the dining room after biting into one of their amazingly delicious crusty dinner rolls. Just one of those fluke things. I ended up visiting the medical office -- no dentist on staff, and we were just leaving Juneau on a Saturday night. The ship contacted the Sitka port rep (our next port stop), who was able to get me an appointment at e local dentist's office on Monday. Regent provided transportation to/from the dentist's office, and the only charges I incurred were the dentist's bill; RSSC did not charge me anything for their efforts on my behalf. Blew me away! This tells me that they really do put their customers first and will do whatever they can to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The bottom line: I enjoyed this so much and was so impressed by Regent's commitment to guest experience that by day 11, I was ready to book another Regent Seven Seas cruise: the 2020 "Navigate the World" -- the 131-day world cruise. It's on the Mariner and I was able to book the same cabin I occupied for this cruise. Given the service, the food, the entertainment, the itinerary, and the price, it's the best choice for me. We chose this this cruise because we believe in Regent. Any other line we sail with is compared to Regent. After knowing we would be happy on Regent we then looked carefully at the itinerary. We wanted to sail in or out of Vancouver and we wanted a stop in Victoria. We also wanted to explore as much of the Inside Passage as we could. Next we wanted to sail with Terry Breen (she was the Enrichment Lecturer on our Amazon cruise last year). She is excellent and we knew she would make our exploration of Alaska more interesting. Finally we had sailed on the Mariner to the Amazon in November/December 2017 and we were excited to see Mariner after she came out of dry dock. We stayed one night in Anchorage before boarding a coach to Seward for embarkation. When we arrived in Anchorage it was sunny and we were able to see Denali. The locals told us that the weather was better than expected and that we were lucky to see Denali as it was quite often (at least 50% of the time) shrouded in clouds. The coach ride to Seward was quite pleasant. We were given a snack and were given a commentary about the sights along the route. Seward terminal made me smile. I said "well this is Alaska". Friendly and competent would describe the staff. Embarkation was relaxed and stress free. Of course a champagne flute awaited us as soon as we boarded. The new color pallet on Mariner is beautiful and elegant. Our suite, 863, was very comfortable. The storage above the desk has been removed but we did not miss it. That area is now more open and appears larger. This suite does not have a tub (our request) and we enjoyed not having to step up into the tub/shower combination. (Personal Preference) The flow in the Veranda is better managed. The somewhat bizarre (our opinion) art in the atrium elevator we called Stairway to Heaven has been removed and we consider that an improvement. There is new furniture and carpeting around the ship. Overall the ship looks updated and so pretty. The one design flaw perhaps is in the theater. The step hazards have been removed and that is a good thing. However, the arm rails extend far out and "snag clothing, your handbag, or even your knees. We were cautious and we were fine but were alerted to this and might be a potential problem for some. As I said we had been on the Mariner in late 2017. The entertainment cast was different than the Amazon cruise but the shows were repeats. They were still good. The cruise director, John did a one man show that was really fantastic. He is talented and professional while being quite personable. We enjoyed his show immensely. There was also a very good magician that we enjoyed. Terry Breen did not disappoint. We learned so much about glaciers and about the First Nation's People and whales and just about Alaska in general. We knew that we would come home with a better understanding of this last frontier after spending time with Terry. The weather was a concern but we packed for cold and rain and in between. Our weather was glorious. Sunny and 60's. If it did rain it was in the evening . The mornings were cool so layering is the secret. We had a rainy day in Ketchikan but not soaking and rain was interspersed with sun. Every new day brought new and more beautiful scenery. Each day brought a new experience. We saw snow capped mountain peaks, glaciers (We got within 1/2 mile of the glacier and witnessed calving), fjords, grizzlies,black bears, eagles, salmon running, sea lions, orca whales, and humback whales, black tail deer and totems. We were treated to the splendor of Alaska visually and from our wonderful guides. The people of Alaska are some of the friendliest we have met anywhere in the world. They are eager for you to learn about their culture and to experience Alaska through their eyes. Visiting with the locals was one of my favorite activities. Their life is hard but it is what they love. We left Alaska and sailed to Victoria. It is a really pretty Victorian city. We toured the city, visited Butchart Gardens and attended High Tea at the Empress Hotel. If only one activity fits in your schedule do not miss the Butchart Gardens. This is a truly magical place. We then sailed to Vancouver and boarded a van to begin our post cruise . We spent 2 days in Whistler. WOW!!! This was a site for the Winter Olympics and we stayed at the Fairmont Chateau hotel which is a 4 Seasons resort with Blackcomb Mountain and Whistler Mountain as backdrops. Since there was no snow the preferred activity was mountain biking and bikers were everywhere. This is a great area to relax and enjoy the great outdoors. We rode the gondola and went on the Peak2Peak tram. The next day we flew to see the glacier in a float plane. Fun and new experience for us. We really enjoyed the upscale lodge feel of Whistler. The third day we left Whistler and returned to Vancouver and had a half day tour. We saw Stanley Park, had a lunch stop on Granville Island (the public market was amazing!) and drove through Chinatown and the Gastoen area. We spent the night at the Fairmont Vancouver and then were transferred to the Vancouver airport for our flight home. This is a very nice airport. Customs was quick and painless as you actually clear US customs there rather than at your US destination. To complete our review of the Mariner we need to discuss the food. We dined in all of the venues and enjoyed every meal. Compass Rose is spectacular and I really enjoyed Chartreuse. This is a new venue for the Mariner (replaced Signatures). We had no complaints with any venue . Service on Regent can not be beat. As an example, I love their sea bass. I forgot to check the Compass Rose menu and missed it the one night it was prepared. I asked if it was going to be on another night. "Sorry, no. However we will ask the chef and if he has the ingredients he will make it for you tomorrow night." He did and it was delicious, as I knew it would be. Thank You for going above and beyond! If I haven't made it clear by now, this cruise to Alaska was beyond our expectations. I need to say that we keep coming back to Regent because of the crew. They had been in Alaska all Spring and Summer doing similar routes and I am sure hearing similar stories and seeing similar scenery. However, their energy level, big smiles, and eagerness to please would lead you to believe they were on the first cruise in Alaska. First class all the way!!! Read Less

Excellent cruise. Major issue with significant food allergy management at start but response from three people ( restaurant manager, dining reservation staff member and head waiter in Compass Rose ) completely resolved situation and ensured a smooth and seamless service for the remainder of cruise. This was professionalism at its best in this setting. Really no strong complaints about anything significant. Attention to refilling cabin minibar with requested drinks could have been better but otherwise cabin service very quick and responsive. Quite a noisy atmosphere in all dining areas ( guests ). Service excellent. Food superb and very varied. The general decor quite subdued and frankly dark in areas- may suit some and not others. Entertainment average as billed so did not avail ourselves. Would have appreciated more guest entertainers with perhaps opera / classical rather than just a film! Viewing from upstairs in theatre difficult as restricted by barriers Would certainly consider going again with this line. Read Less

We had a marvelous time on this cruise. It was our first time on the Explorer, after having sailed on the Voyager (once) and the Navigator (World Cruise 2017 and Cape Town to Rio 2018). Things got off to a bit of a rough start at the Copenhagen Marriott. The morning of embarkation the restaurant was swamped with a very long line for breakfast, and bus #1 delivered us to the wrong ship in the port! It was easily rectified as the Explorer was right next door. We loved the itinerary, even though it was port intensive. Every day was a new adventure! We especially liked our 3 days in Saint Petersburg, including the Grand Imperial Evening of the Tsars, and the fact that we hired a private guide and driver for day 2. The Senior Officers included Serena Melani, Captain; Davor Josipovic, General Manager; Food and Beverage Director Stephane Carriou, Cruise Director Andy Heath, and his wife Tammy, Social Hostess. All were excellent in their jobs. This was our first time sailing with Captain Serena. She was very personable and often seen talking and mingling with the passengers. It was also our first time sailing with Andy and Tammy. They are a great team, always positive, and very talented! Loved their shows, especially The Beatles! We also enjoyed our class in the Culinary Kitchen, "Gone Fishing", taught by Linda Miller, a CIA in Hyde Park graduate. It was lots of fun, very informative, and delicious! Terry Bishop, Lecturer and Performer, was also terrific. We had the pleasure of meeting Terry on the World Cruise, and he can do it all! Lecture, sing, play the guitar, tell stories; always entertaining! The Production Cast was great, very talented! We have seen World Beat about 5 times now, and we think this was the best one yet! Other shows we saw with them performing were My Revolution and Paradis. Destination Services did a great job in getting us off on excursions in a timely manner. All were very helpful and pleasant. The ship is beautiful and we really enjoyed sampling some newer (to us) restaurants. Pacific Rim was great, and we also enjoyed Chartreuse. La Veranda/Sette Mari was a disappointment esthetically. It felt more like a large cafeteria. We really prefer this space on the Navigator. Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate our Silver Wedding and we chose Regent as we have sailed with them previously. We like the all inclusive nature of this company. Yes, you look at the headline price and wince but you never have to pay for anything thereafter – all drinks, gratuities, excursions etc are included. Only spa treatments and shop purchases are not covered. We spent $27.00 over the course of the 20 days! Another benefit of Regent is that few announcements are made over the PA system in your suite. Thus, you are not constantly bombarded with announcements etc. On sea days, the captain updated us about our position, the weather conditions etc but that was it. We opted out of the airfare promotion by organising our own flights to Copenhagen from Edinburgh and from Amsterdam to Edinburgh. Taking advantage of a car park deal at Edinburgh Airport and booking a taxi from City Taxis Amsterdam, payment to the driver, we saved about £200.00 per person of the published Regent fare. Sometimes it does pay to do your own thing. We have friends who stay north of Copenhagen so we did not have the expense of finding a hotel prior to the cruise. We enjoyed a few days in North Zealand before embarking the Regent Seven Seas Navigator. Embarkation was from noon and since the ship only holds 490 guests, there were no queues so the process was completed swiftly. The welcome glass of champagne was most appreciated and set the tone for the rest of the cruise. The ship has recently been refurbished and we did like the new colour palette in the public areas and in the spacious suites. Dining on the Navigator is either at Compass Rose, the main restaurant, La Veranda for breakfast and lunch and which becomes Sette Mare, an Italian themed restaurant at night, or Prime Seven, the New York steak house. Although reservations are required for the latter, there is no additional cover charge. I have coeliac disease and all the staff took great care to ensure the food I was eating was safe for me to consume. The only downside was that I had to order dinner for that evening before I had had breakfast! The food in all three was excellent as was the lunchtime pool service with themed buffets depending on the port of call that day, as well as the usual fare. We were fortunate to have a very good guest speaker on board, Michael Scott, who added to our ports of call with some history, geography and wildlife information. Additional information was broadcast on our suite TV about the various ports of call and the tours which were on offer. Entertainment was provided by the Regent Seven Seas band and the onboard singers and dancers whose shows were really good. Okay, they were not the same as the westend shows on the bigger ships but we refer the intimacy of smaller ships. Our cruise director, Ray, was his usual brilliant self and did a great job keeping us all entertained. There is a well equipped gym on deck 12 forward, with glorious views of the ocean, should you be so inclined. We did not make use of the spa facilities but onboard treatments are expensive, plus an 18% service charge – not for us. The staff worked very hard to ensure the cleanliness of the public areas, which were always immaculate. We liked the new library and coffee connections area, and the computer area opposite had 6 computers but as every guest has free wifi, most used their tablets, phones etc. Alex was always a very patient IT consultant and usually managed to resolve any IT issues. The Stars Theatre is over two decks with good sight lines from nearly every seat – no pillars in the wrong places! Reception was manned 24 hours per day and the friendly, helpful staff made every effort to answer all guest questions. There are also guest laundry facilities on decks 5, 8, 9 and 11 and these were well equipped and maintained. Service was fantastic and many staff knew our names, and addressed us as such, within 24 hours of boarding. Our suite stewardess, Wai Wai, was always helpful and kept our in-suite beverage cabinet well stocked with our choice of soft drinks and provided plenty of bottled water. She also provided us with our choice of wine on request. Shore excursions were included in each port of call and were generally of a high standard. We opted to take the Regent Choice excursion to Hardangerfjord – the queen of the fjords – from Bergen. This was a full day excursion with lunch included and was a fantastic experience. Our other ports of call included Lysekil in Sweden, Stavanger, Alesund, Trondheim, Hammerfest, Honningsvag – for the Nordkapp (the most northerly point of mainland Europe) – Lerwick, Rosyth, Tynemouth and Amsterdam (overnight). In addition, we had stops at Murmansk and Arkhangelsk in Russia. Our stop at the Solovetsky Islands was cancelled due to poor weather conditions which prevented the launch of the tenders. Some of our fellow guests wondered why we visited Murmansk – a not very pretty industrial port. However, this was the destination for the Arctic Convoys during World War Two and there is a great deal of appreciation for the Allied effort to keep the USSR supplied. Murmansk was under constant bombardment for 40 months and was granted the title of ‘Hero City of the Soviet Union’. The Alyosha Monument is a towering 5,000-ton statue of a lone soldier that commemorates the Soviet Arctic forces that resisted the invading Nazi army in 1941and defended the Kola peninsula. Arkhangelsk is a pretty city and was also a destination for the Arctic Convoys during the summer months when it was ice-free. We spent the morning at the Naval Dockyard- Russia’s first merchant shipyard - before heading out, after lunch, to Malye Korely, an open-air museum of wooden buildings from throughout the region. The buildings represent different architectural traditions and time periods, with the oldest building dating from the 16th century. As I said at the beginning, the headline price looks very expensive but when you consider all that is included, we think that it is good value for money overall. Read Less

Then Shetland Islands, Edinburgh Scotland, Newcastle UK and finally Amsterdam All Regent ships are a home away from home with white glove treatment. Caring and attentive staff. Food and dining are the best and accommodations are excellent. We loved the included excursions. No problems. The entertainment was always enjoyable. After the show, we always found a great movie before going to sleep. We always order breakfast to the suite before leaving on a tour. Simply put your choices on your card. You can usually add something not standard, as well. Always set up to meet our time schedule. We usually have a butler and although it is an extravagance, we loved being spoiled Simply the best. Lots of new teak wood decking which was very attractive and felt good to walk on compared to steel. Food and service were first rate. The house wines are quite good, not low-grade stuff designed to push you into pricey upgrades. The specialty restaurants are just wonderful. I had a steak that was as good as any I have had in my entire life. The French food was absolutely perfect. I have only one suggestion for improvement. We love espresso coffee drinks and it seemed impossible to get fresh cream or half and half aboard. The ship's coffee bar uses box packaged super pasteurized milk products which are not as good tasting as the fresh cartons you buy in stores. Several times our shore excursions included shopping for fresh cream to put in our coffee aboard. This might be an inventory or storage logistics problem, but Regent should endeavor to fix it as it is the one thing that kept the shipboard food epxerience at a 9+ instead of a 10. I was going to try several different cruise lines to find the perfect one, but my Regent experience on my very first cruise has made that comparison shopping unnecessary. My future cruises will be Regent cruises for sure. Read Less

I haven't been on all cruise ships so i don't know but I would guess this is the most beautiful ship on the Seas. The employees (service) is five star. The food amazing and the cabin, how can I even begin to explain how beautiful our cabin was. So much storage, no way could we use all the drawers. The bathroom and closet were outstanding. Not sure why anyone needs a tub on a cruise, but if you do there is one there. We spent as much time as possible on the veranda. It was large and so comfortable. The entertainers at night were Las Vegas quality. There was a great variety of shore excursions and we enjoyed each and everyone. I don't personally think this is a ship for children, but just my thoughts. It was very expensive and that being said I want to save to go again, it was the best vacation ever! They really should have cold medicine aboard and easy to purchase at all times day and night and even in port. They only negative. Read Less

After reading reviews about this ship we were eager to experience it for ourselves. Regent Seven Seas exceeded our expectations from our first phone call to the company. All our questions were answered and desires met. From first contact we were impressed with the efficiency in meeting and exceeding our expectations. The ship is a floating work of Art and engineering masterpiece. Pictures of the ship are beautiful, but it must be experienced in person to really capture all that it is. Our F1 suite, 937, was clean and quiet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_XnNsOBeGw Watch video for details. Suites that end in a 7 have pull-out couches to easily accommodate a 3rd occupant. We normally are Independence travelers; not usually going on cruise line shore excursions. However, this trip we participated on at least one ship excursion per port including a fishing trip, that cost us a reasonable $129 per person. Enjoying the informative, comfortable excursions were a highlight of our adventure. We liked the excursions so much that we often went on two a day. Our luggage was delayed by the airline, for three days, transferring from Copenhagen to Oslo. Chris at reception and his team went above and beyond with a sympathetic ear, complimentary overnight laundry, toiletries, toothbrushes, razors, etc., and I much appreciated 25% discount to purchase clothing from their gift shop. My husband picked out a beautiful dress for me to wear to dinner. We had our insurance agent calling the airline daily as well as my husband also made several calls a day inquiring about our luggage, but I believe we got our luggage because ship staff went to the airport in Copenhagen to pick up ours and twelve other passengers luggage. It is important that I mention that ship personnel did this for us even though we booked our own air. Thank you Chris for saving the day! Entertainment: full disclosure, we do not ordinarily go out after dinner, preferring to sit on our balcony and watch the ever changing scenery pass by while we plan for the upcoming days adventures. We did however enjoy the comedy show. Dining, oh the food, everything and anything my heart desired, ordering on or off the menu. Attention to detail was evident down to the Versace table setting and Chihuli Glass Chandelier and art. Service: Attentive and unobtrusive. All staff seemed truly joyful, smiling as they worked, sharing in conversation when appropriate, having an ability to read us, anticipating our desires and needs, learning our names by day two, recalling our favorite beverage. This was consistent as we did not dine in the same restaurant two nights in a row. How they knew to recommend fish dishes to me and meat dishes to my husband is a secret that I cannot figure out. Their recommendations were spot on. I recommend Regent to the seasoned sophisticated traveler who appreciates fine dining, art and who believes that the journey is as important as the destination. Bridge players and trivia enthusiasts made up a good portion of passengers. There were a few families with teenage children and I saw one family with much younger children at the end of our cruise. A childrens' program was available. We are a couple in our 50's traveling without children so I cannot advice on suitability for families with children. Read Less

Have sailed with Regent several times and this was one of the best. Really enjoyed that we went to very different and more undiscovered ports. In two of the new ports it was apparent they don't see many ships and we had local marching bands presenting farewell band sendoffs. Crew is very well trained and very helpful Food was very varied and excellent. . The new approach to French food is an important update. The Asian restaurant did wonderful tempura soft shell crabs. Compass Rose works perfectly. No matter how many guests arrive at the same time the team manages to handle it gracefully and quickly. We were all worried when NCL took over one of our favorite vacation companies. Things have changed but overall it appears they have worked hard to keep standards high. Guests seemed very happy and I never heard the grumbling and complaining you often here on cruise ships Read Less

Rooms had large size balancies of which a lounger and two chairs fit. Along with a table. We ate bfast and dinners on our patio. We ordered from compass rose and had incredible view while dining they the fjords. Lots of energy with all the staff. Room steward was excellent. As everything we asked for he immediately got it for us! My favorite thing was the daily excursions. Very interesting choices to pick from! Worth paying the extra to upgrade on some of the higher level excursions. Over all 6 stars. We have been on mariner, navigator and explorer is definetly the best and the newest! Read Less

Went on this cruise for the itinerary with our granddaughter, we cruised before with Regent so we love and know the service but this time they even surprised us. My granddaughter (16), was on the sofa bed, the mattress was quite thin and you could feel the springs, the second day of the cruise , I mentioned to our steward if there was anything they could do, OMG that night and every night after that, they brought in a mattress! Another example of going beyond what is expected, we came for lunch at the Veranda, outside , there was a table but not enough chairs, we were and the wait staff looking for some, the cruise director, Paul, who was dining nearby with two others staff, immediately got up and was ready to make them move inside so we could have their tables, they found chairs and everyone was able to stay, but really, they were in the middle of their meal, and he was willing to make them pick up their plates and go in, to my , of course refusal, that people is why we love Regent, they really try to make up happy. The restaurants were great, food is fabulous, the excursions is where they could have some improvements, but traveling in Italy in the summer is always a challenge with the crowd. They had a letter addressed to our granddaughter on arrival, every day they had a sheet detailing activities for the young one, she never took advantage of it . We chose this cruise because of the itinerary and "free" business class air. We had not been to the mediterranean and were very very pleased with the ports we visited. For example we anchored by Sorrento rather docking in Naples. Sorrento is a beautiful harbor and well worth the hassle of tendering to shore. It also made it possible to get to Capri as well as Pompeii. Regent did a nice job with the airfare, direct flights to/from our home airport Denver and Heathrow then first class to Venice and from Barcelona. We wanted to spend some days in Barcelona after the cruise and Regent accommodate the change from Monte Carlo without extra charge. They also went above and beyond by providing the exact soda and wine we had requested in advance. This was really special. Virtually all of the staff you ran into would smile and say hello and were willing to provide assistance. We do not stay up late so did not attend any of the entertainment. One disappointment was the gluten free options. The bread and hamburger buns were disappointing. We like to dine in our cabinand had breakfast every morning. Most evenings we dined in our cabin as well and found we had good menu options. We did dine in the Compass Rose and Prime 7 and enjoyed our meals there. One note, this cruise was in the summer and there were a number of children on board. Some of them were not very well behaved and that took away from the experience a bit. Also, it was peak travel season for this region and there were a lot of tourists. Recommend not cruising in the summer if possible. Read Less

Itinerary. We’ve cruised with Regent 3 Times before and enjoy the all inclusive pricing. The food, specialty beverages, wines, cabin spaciousness and shore excursions were top notch. Our butler was outstanding and offered excellent tips and info each morning with room service breakfast and in the evening when we brought us canapés. The ship has been in dry dock recently and every area of the ship was in excellent condition. The Compass Rose renovation was needed and the result is gorgeous. We enjoyed the new dining options Chartreuse and Prime 7 several times during our cruise. Terrific food and excellent service. The only downside was an outbreak of norobirus which impacted about 30 of the 700 cruisers and 450 crew. When the outbreak was reported the crew immediately implemented an extremely rigorous cleaning protocol all over the ship. We were affected by the virus but did notice how diligent the crew was. Their efforts restricted the outbreak to only a small # of passengers and crew. Read Less

We took a our first cruise on Regent in May from Lisbon to London and we were blown away. We have taken Crystal in the past on some 15 cruises, and now we find ourselves remiss for patronizing a good cruise line (Crystal) when there was such a much finer cruise line (Regent) out there. Regent beats Crystal in room quality, service, staff, food, athletic facility, spa, public areas, embarkment, and in a very big way, in excursions. Crystal does have better entertainment, but overall this is a minor item to us. Further, Regent is not as pretentious as Crystal by declaring itself the "best" cruise line, and Regent does not push purchasing photos at every conceivable instance as Crystal always does. And even the passengers on Regent appear to be more polished and polite than those we have encountered on recent Crystal ships. Perhaps Crystal is yesterday's cruise line, but Regent is today's. Special compliments to the Regent's ship management. The attendants for the rooms were almost invisible, yet their job was always complete in a timely manner. Similarly, we were treated excellently by the food mangers in the various restaurants. Our favorite restaurant was Prime with the bone-in ribeye. Every excursion seemed better than the one before! Went with friends. Wanted to cruise on a ship with adults, not a party ship. Expensive, but worth the cost if you demand quality. Only drawback was poor wi-fi service that only allowed one user and one device at a time. However, the staff were friendly and gracious and the food was to die for. The ship itself was beautiful and very well maintained. The included tours were of varying quality. WE took some and other times explored on our own. The entertainment was much better than we had anticipated with a variety of kinds of shows. The stateroom was wonderfully designed with a great amount of storage. An added bonus was free laundry and dry cleaning which we used often. This is not a ship where passengers stay up and drink through the night, though dancing and other entertainment is available until midnight. Take this ship if you want an elegant and relaxing experience. Read Less
